I would disagree with you on the luxury and anywhere in the world. I live in London and unlimited data is not a luxury. With as little as £10-£20 you can get unlimited broadband service.
You should know that £10 is 4,500 and £20 is 9,000 naira lol smiley

Lol. Who says they don't want to enter, Lagos is like their biggest priority I'm sure. I think it was smart to start with Abuja and Flex their muscles. They were just testing the waters. Lagos will be more demanding, i believe they will implement Lagos learning from their Abuja mistakes. They are taking their time to accommodate the traffic Lagos will pull.

What will be sad tho, is of after all this time... It ends up being bad. That will be sad.

I don't know what the noise is about? Why won't their speed be that high? How many people dey the network?

To d guy that posted screenshots of the download and upload speed, please cone back an do that when they have over 1 million subscribers. By then we go know how far.
I'm the guy that posted screenshots. As much as i get what you are saying. America has over 300 million people and their internet ain't slow. It's all about management and maintenance. We want to pay 500 naira for unlimited yet be the first to cry when the speed is shxt. Good things cost money.

And no, I'm not comparing Nigeria to America. It took them 300 years to get to where they are, it will take us 300 years to get to where they are now. What I'm saying is, it's possible to retain it's high quality. Maybe not probable knowing how our dear country is, but yes it's possible.

Ntel is 4G LTE-A which is not just 4G but in it's advanced form. The first we've seen in Nigeria.

I also hope that 'Nigeria' doesn't happen to it.

You are just being a drama queen abeg. No matter how you look at it, 10K for SUPERFAST unlimited Internet is as good as it gets as far as Nigeria is concerned. It's an AMAZING offer.

My guy! Unlimited Internet is not for everybody. The same way some ppl are driving G-wagon Benz and others are driving Honda Accord. Put ur mouth where ur money is. Look for what suits you and stick with it. What you can afford. Simple.

Did anyone hold a gun to your head screaming "OYA BUY NTEL, YOU MUST SUBSCRIBE TO NTEL". No!

if this speed is true,then Airtel,etisalat and glo are in trouble. MTN is already in trouble..

Lol imagine all major network now charging N2k for 3.5gig for android,why are they reducing price mtcheww .. When my friend in Ukraine is paying same N2000 equivalent for one month unlimited plan on a better network..

Hard times in Nigeria
Nigeria has and will always be behind, some places in the world have up to 2Gbps Internet. That's somewhere around 150 to 200MB/s real world download speed.

YoursGEJ:
If that speed is true, na to your tent o Israel for other network providers
Someone is telling me that Ntel are rubbish that when MTN comes with 4G they will know how far. Is it not the same MTN we know and Love(not)?! When you see MTN 4G plan, 1K for 500mb don't be surprised.

eleojo23:
Jesus!
Is that 10mb/s for real?
10mb/s is only equal to 1.25MB/s

1MB/s = 8mb/s
MegaBytes and Megabits.

So yes, the 10MB/s is real. That is roughly 80mb/s. cc honsule, the IDM capture was done by him.

All those isp's in nigeria misusing the word LTE. Spectranet, swift, even smile etc. The only true lte in nigeria right now is ntel but unfortunately they don't know what they are doing. Very slow in rolling out their services, I wonder why they even launched when they knew they are not ready.
Well, Smile and Spectranet are truly 4G LTE.
Ntel is LTE-A (Advanced)

ok so for me to get it i have t visit the hotel right? Do you know why cowbell became one of the hottest milk brand in nigeria? That is because they understood the market and knew that they have to make their products available for the low income earners who are the highest number of the population. So if their sim is for the rich then they will sell off before they know it
Your comments are irritating. It's a brandnew network, give them time to rollout. What is all this bullcrap u writing about it being for the rich? etc. HAVE YOU FORGOTTEN WHEN MTN SIM WAS 30K+ and 'NOT-RICH PEOPLE' couldn't buy it?

They are only in Abuja now, with time they will be all over the country. Give them time! They have to start from somewhere! Soon the sim will be like purewater everywhere. But for today and right now, it's not so accept that.

And instead of saying it's for the rich, go where the 'not rich' people are and stay nah!

On an unrelated but relevant note,
"Nothing is too expensive, it's just not for your class"

No disrespect meant, just facts. smiley

donhils:
4G LTE has download speed of 300mb/s . 3G has download speed of 42mb/s.
With our current 3G, I'm sure nobody ever got download speed of up to 10mb/s. So let's hope this 4G thingy gives us at least the normal speed of 3G in other countries. Not 4G that will be giving 200kb/s .
Mbps and MBps are different, you know this yes?
8Mbps = 1MBps
Mb = Megabits
MB = MegaBytes

Anyways, 4G LTE doesn't have speeds up to 300Mbps, that's not correct. 4G LTE-A (Advanced) has speeds up to that. And of course, we talking theoretical speeds.

Theoretical Speed (Average Real World Speed) - Mbps
3G = 7.2 (3)
3.5G/HSPA+ = 42 (6)
4G LTE = 150 (20)
4G LTE-A = 300 (42)

The numbers in brackets are the average speeds you should expect, realistically. But yes, it can go as fast as the theoretical speed. It just always doesn't due to many conditions... location, isp, cell tower, base station, traffic, government blah blah blah

And on 3.5G HSPA using etisalat, yes i have seen above 10Mbps. I normally get 2.5MB/s download speed which is around 20Mbps (just about half of the theoretical limit, as theoretically it can go up to 5.25MB/s)

And also it applies for Kb and KB too. 200Kb/s = 25KB/s

This is getting too long, i hope i made my point smiley

In Ghana almost all telecom companies run on 4G.
Glo
Surfline
Busy internet
MTN
Vodafone

Naija is a joke if this is just getting to us in 2016.
Oga! I lived in Accra for 3 years. Stop tearing bread for guys.

Glo Ghana don't got no 4G
Surfline are the main 4G LTE guys
Busy Internet is piggybacking off Vodafone
MTN Ghana don't got 4G
Vodafone GH don't got 4G readily available to SIM Cards, only fixed broadband and Vodafone maxes out at 20Mbps btw.

Naija has Ntel now readily providing 4G Enabled sim cards that work out-of-the-box. I can safely say we are ahead of Ghana in terms of Internet. Go and try MainOne fibre Optics. Anyways, yeah!

rawdpiper:
Is it your subscription u are using or the pioneer free data and have u noticed any speed throttling after passing a certain data limit?
I believe it's truly unlimited, for the first 3 months at least. Their fair usage says throttling will happen after 3GB of usage daily, but this is only during peak periods.

To explain simpler. You get 3GB to use between 8am and 6 or 7pm. From 7pm till 8am no speed throttling after 3GB. This is what i understand.

Regardless, for the first 3 months... NO THROTTLING WHATSOEVER
