Pls guys,I need ur advice or suggestions. I made a transaction on Ebay today for an verizon iphone 4s which the seller stated has a clean imei. I requested for the imei from the seller and checked with verizon and was told the iphone was reported stolen. I payed via paypal linked to GTB naira mastercard and GTB is yet to effect the payment as my account details is still the same. How can stop GTB from effecting payment cuz am no more interested in going through with the transaction. No response from seller yet and have opened a dispute on paypal. My fear guys is the differing exchange rates our banks use when issuing refunds. I no want lose money unnecessary.

Tho it's ridiculous, because i don't know how much is in the account, transfer out money so it is less than the amount you will be debited. Say if it's 100 dollars, leave only 10 or 15K in the account. Transaction should fail.

you are definitely going to loose money if you seek for a refund . banks normally charge two rates. the rate at which they buy and the rate at which they sell. the former is always lower than the latter .
In the first instance they are selling dollar to you-the rate is higher. Now they are buying dollar from you -the rate is lower

Funny thing is Ecobank never did this to me. They always refunded with the new dollar rate, sometimes to their own disadvantage.

Is not logic, is card troubleshooting. Once mistake is made at the first attempt, you would have to troubleshoot to get the result. Before you can use your visa card, it must be activated first on the issuer machine and failure to do that would result in so many errors along the line.

Well, hopefully he fixes it. So many things can be the issue.

As far as you can remeber the ATM pin then you can change the ipin. Where you able to check your balance with the card? Have you ever used that card on ATM machine to withdraw?

Using that logic, never withdrawn with my diamond back visa. but been using it online. Tho I'm sure withdraw works. lol.

Which bank visa is not acceptable on paypal? And which bank told you the paypal link is not avilable because if is first bank then is not true because first bank is the only bank in Nigeria that is in partnership with paypal and all their cards are acceptable without issues except verve. What error are you getting while trying to use it.

Maybe it's that upgrading of account thing they have been telling their costumers to do. @Jeffy1206 call customer care tho.

Well, here is ur answer below. seems u need to request a MasterCard from ur bank. You will need to pay 1K for it tho.

Lol. I don't have a GTB account mate. I mean when I'm using Quickteller tho. If it's an international transaction, i don't need token at all. Both Eco Master and Diamond Visa working well. Made at least 10 online transactions in the past week. all successful.

Maybe it's a recent issue. I added my Diamond card on the 20th. About a week ago (In Bobby Shmurda's voice) LOL.
Or maybe First Bank card doesn't work on PayPal. I don't know. Can anyone confirm adding first bank card to Paypal. Was it visa or master?

@haftob and @Elemental are the 2 ppl i know using First bank cards, let's hear from them if anyone of them has successfully added a First Bank card to PayPal.

Update: I remember Elemental saying he was charged 210.02 for a paypal transaction. I guess the question now is which card? Let me quote the post.

Yes my Ecobank MasterCard and my Diamond Bank VISA Card are both linked to my PayPal account. My Ecobank VISA Card never worked, as i said earlier in this thread. PayPal is the reason Ecobank switched to MasterCard. Or at least, one of the reasons.

On the Diamond Bank issue, I called Diamond Care and spoke to them for over 15 minutes, which i was on hold for about 10 of those minutes. The only answer i got was that the rate on the day was different, which wasn't true. Anyways my 500 naira credit finished without a real answer and the call dropped, they attempted to call me back but i missed the call, anyways i followed up with the email below. Let's see how they respond to it.

Haha! These banks have gone mad yo! Diamond Bank processed my $1.95 paypal refund at 194.02. Was debited at 204.08

Debit = 397.96. Credit = 378.35

Losing 10 naira per dollar, now dats something. I am calling Diamond Care now. Wat if it was a bigger transaction? Lol.

True. However still enjoying my Diamond VISA Card. Alipay failed for some reason but when i tried it direct, it worked.

3 weeks straight and rate remains at 204. Very impressive.

I guess you have not used master card before cos visa are the ones with stiff policies which makes them more popular. I think mc is easier to use my opinion tho.

I kinda agree, the reason ppl use GT Bank too much is that their Mastercard is accepted just about anywhere. Even in the north pole.

Any way I really dnt like master card and their stiff policy, most site tend to filter (reject) master card issued by naija banks. Visa is generally more accepted say 75/100%

I dont know about that but i know VISA cards are generally more accepted worldwide. However, most of us prefer to go the Paypal route these days i believe. Didn't have too many issues with my Ecobank Visa card after i got the cuddy way to put my billing address until paypal anyways. Paypal is the main reason they switched from VISA to MasterCard. But i think these days, both master and Visa are becoming basically the same thing, I'll be worried about the card issuer's rates than the card itself. Cheers!

You not alone, my transaction gut declined over and over again on a merchant website as well

This gut me really pissed coz have made payment severally (2-3 times) on that particular merchant from my diamond visa card, I contacted diamond cc it seems they having some problems

Now I'm think of which bank to obtain a new visa card The current devaluation & dollar rates even gut me thinking hard enough any suggestion guys?

I believe most of us are thinking Stanbic. Tho i think it's MasterCard.

Lol. Diamond Bank is the quickest I've seen 3. And it was ready. Ecobank took me 10. And their rates are still shyte!

Please people, I'm not trying to derail the thread, but I seem to be having issues with my diamond visa debit card(the green one) I've never used it for international transactions cos my GTB MasterCard has always been handy.
With recent developments, I tried switching to diamond. I dusted my card, changed the i-pin, and yet, my card is still been declined by the sites that I use my GTB MasterCard on. what could be the issue?

Call Diamond Care. Be sure that there's nothing wrong with the card. Used the same card on Playstore, Aliexpress, Origin (FIFA 15), PayPal. No issues whatsoever. It was even my Ecobank MasterCard dat had issues, now u apparently have to go to their branch to apply for ur card to be activated for online purchases. Did they think dat i just wanted to use master card on ATMs? That bank is a confused bank.

Also, i advice that u download the Diamond app from playstore. Click register and use ur Debit card to register. They will send u a username and ur mobile app registration code. Really awesome app. See below.

Even tho not hundred percent, I'm pretty sure Stanbic has only verve and Mastercard. Dat was all i saw in their newspaper advert. And Zenith, no idea.
Personally, i want to visit a Stanbic bank today or tomorrow. They are a smaller bank compared to Zenith. in terms of popularity anyways. So i believe they have a lower chance of playing Nairabet with ur money. lol.

14 naira per 1 dollar is quite ridiculous. Diamond bank yesterday was back to 204.08 never tried paypal on it tho.

I feel your pain bro. Had a similar issue when I made an urgent withdrawal from one of my forex account using Access Bank... those banks are criminal.. I have had my share of their dubious act especially from gtbank and access bank.

I have the feeling someone at the helm of affairs is playing smart. Have been getting calls left, right and center from Access bank and they said i get positive response in 24hrs.

It would be understandable, YET unfair if their current rate is 199. But i can bet u that access bank rate currently isn't less than 205. 210 is what i have in mind but still yes. It's unacceptable. And just crazy. I really hope u get ur money back. Someone mentioned something like this about 2 days back or so. Let me quote it below.
