Jeffy1206: Jeffy1206:The Google one is debited and credited back immediately. It's not a charge, it's called a 'pending authorization' or just a 'pending'. Most websites put a pending on ur card when u place an order but don't actually collect the money just incase u decide to cancel the order to avoid having to start processing a refund, immediately the order is shipped then u are actually charged. The whole time the money doesn't appear in ur balance tho, in more developed / advanced banks overseas you will see pending authorizations on ur statement too, sadly not here. They want any opportunity to scam u on refunds. Lol. Different from a refund, in the case where the seller has received the money but is paying you back. Anyways, U can never know until you get ur hands on ur statement or u get alerts. I paid in another 1,000 into my account yesterday, just to be sure that my alert was working, i received both text and email alerts for the transaction. I have 2,950 in the account for now. ATM fee was 1050 so yh, instead of 4K. I told u to apply for internet banking, u said no. Got my Internet banking password yesterday, would check on it today. And, PayPal charges $1 for adding the card and then another 1.95 dollars (would be refunded) for confirming the card so add these values and calculate with regards to ur initial and current balance. 2.99 + 1.00 + 1.95 = $5.94 I'm pretty sure that should make it fall around the 200 naira rate. |
@jeffy1206 no show on my Stanbic card. Not working. YET. Btw, u didn't say how much was charged to the card by PayPal. is the rate actually 199.5? And when the refund comes back, check if Stanbic processes at a lower rate. Diamond Bank's rate remains unchanged - 204.08. |
mavinc4u:True! I'll marry any Nigerian woman i meet that knows computers and tech stuff more than myself lol. So i can say that I'm still searching lol. |
Jacobx007: warrenweste:Great news. Will update both to first post. piscesgem:Official rate maybe. Card charge might be different. Jeffy1206:Cool. Maybe because ur card was ready before mine, who knows? i will try mine now and also check Diamond bank's rate. Just now and report back immediately. |
senoreetah:It takes 24 hours to activate the card (according to stanbic). He only applied for the secure code activation today. |
Jeffy1206:See Jeff my man, don't bother urself. U did the maiden name update right? Try tomorrow by 5pm (after close of business). Simple. If it still doesn't work then both of us will borrow the fire and brimstone from the feminist group and send it upon Stanbic. |
When it comes to book smarts, women are miles ahead of men. Because men are busy thinking about chasing women. Lmao. |
mavinc4u:Lol. Okay my dear. I was providing tech support for one company one time, a lady called my desk and complained that her computer was broken. I asked what the issue with it was and she said it wasn't coming on, i went to check it. Lo and behold it wasn't even connected to the socket. That was the issue. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. Lol. |
@jeffy1206 Email from Stanbic regarding the maiden name update. "Dear Mr. Stanley, Thank you for your feedback. We sincerely apologize for every inconvenience this experience may have caused you. Please be informed that it takes 24hrs for the update to be effected on your account. Thank you." |
Jeffy1206:If your card was successfully added, then u don't have any issue with it. Mine can't even add to Google wallet. Not yet at least. PayPal has different issues don't worry about it too much, just try again later... |
Thespecialone:That is just wrong on their part, i didn't have to apply again for the card. it's basic these days that you get an ATM card. Sadly, most people will have to take 3 trips as these stanbic guys, it feels like they are still figuring things out really. Anyways, try put pressure on GTB. Jeffy1206:The easiest and cheapest way really is adding it to ur Google Wallet, it would be debited and refunded immediately. Exactly $1. You won't lose any money either. Here - https://wallet.google.com/ |
frebor:Even my Internet banking isn't setup yet mate Jeffy1206:Yep, it's not a prerequisite. I just rather have it, haven't u got ur card yet? |
I'm not a sexist but I'll say this. With respest to woman and appreciation to every woman walking on the face of the earth, i think you guys are great and i think you guys can do whatever a man can do better and all that good stuff you guys like to hear. However, i feel like in this part of the world women shouldn't do tech support/customer care jobs. 95% of them are underinformed, misinformed or not informed at all. I spoke to maybe 2 or 3 customer care ladies yesterday and none of them stated dat i had to go back to the bank to fill the Mastercard secure code update form. The first guy i spoke to gave me this information and it was the right thing to do. Even the person dat has been attending to me at the branch has been a lady and i asked her yesterday, she said i didn't need to do anything else and today she's saying that it's true dat i have to do it. I have experienced this many times in various institutions not only in Nigeria but in Ghana too. Please the feminist groups shouldn't rain down fire and brimstone on me. I love women. Lol. |
UPDATE: I am currently at StanbicIBTC. After filling the form i still had to write a formal request to the Branch manager for the activation of the card for online transactions. However, it's being handled now. All of you heading to stanbic should try take care of all these on ur second trip. |
chuchwhite:Lol. I need Token with Zenith? Dats a definite bye bye to Zenith bank now. EUGENE4GOO:Unless i have too much money and i haven't been noticing this 100 naira charge then I'm pretty sure i have been charged 0. Infact, the reason i use my mastercard instead of my verve card is because of the 0 charge. If not i wouldn't stress myself typing my mastercard number everytime as my Verve card is already added to my quick teller account. opeyemmmy:Yep the mail has been disregarded. As i adviced others to do. And the point of the mail is to look real, so yeah. |
opeyemmmy:i don't understand the first part of ur post, i don't even have my Internet banking details yet, yet to receive it. I guess I'll just go into the bank today, first thing this morning. I hope this would be the last. I really hope so. |
kennyman20:Lol. Cheers mate! |
chuchwhite:Oh! Maybe it's Zenith. Do u also get OTP via SMS? I don't get charged with Ecobank Mastercard. I always transfer money to my Diamond bank to buy stuffs, never charged. Transfered to GT and Access last week. No charge. If i use my verve, 100 naira, Mastercard 0. |
@Jeffy1206 you and i think @opeyemmmy were saying something about Stanbic beneficiary something something. Can't remember Lol. I got something like that today after requesting for my internet banking be processed. Might not be correct, but i think dat somehow, this is not a wrong or scam email. Maybe a glitch, maybe procedure. My advice is don't click anything till u show the bank. Anyways, confirm if it's a similar email u received below.
|
Jeffy1206:Just mother's maiden name they asked (her surname before she got married, I think. Lol) Just ask them for everything you need, you know the best thing? Send them an email, they will call u back, those guys call you more than a clingy girlfriend. See my call log below. Lol.
|
EUGENE4GOO:If you use your Verve card on Quickteller, you get charged 100 naira per transaction except you are buying recharge card. But if you use ur mastercard, no 100 naira charge. I always use my master card. Jeffy1206: EUGENE4GOO:Standby, @sinebaba would update you guys. If he has any info. I was thinking of getting a Zenith too, but nah! I'll get GTB instead because of the majority and GTB to GTB transfer, every client asks me if i have a GTB account first. Lol |
Now Stanbic are telling me that my mother's maiden name is not updated on my account so i have to visit their branch to update it before they can enroll my card for online transactions, something i filled on the form oh. Omo I'm tired of these guys procedures, but on the bright side for you guys, you can learn from all these and reduce ur number of trips to the bank. Update to my other post: - Second trip: After opening the envelope containing ur Debit mastercard, and changing the pin. You will find a small update form in the envelope also, tell them that you want to update ur mother's maiden name on ur account so that your card will be able to enroll ur card for online transactions. |
opeyemmmy:I've done payouts of about 100K in one day on Quickteller before. And it cost me 0 naira. ![]() Mizzzbeee: tyconcepts:Lol. We don't want both of you please, when u join now, dollar will go up to 300 naira. ![]() @tyconcepts thanks for the update on Access rate. Added to first post. |
opeyemmmy:Lol. How many people use Stanbic anyways? And who uses Internet Banking to transfer anyways? Quickteller FTW! (For The Win) opeyemmmy:We sef go confirm our own tomorrow oh. Lol. |
Jeffy1206:Lol. Sadly i can't test the card today, i tried it online and it was declined. Called Stanbic and they have caked me back twice since then, apparently the card has to be enrolled to be use online and dat can't be done till end of business day tomorrow. So follow the advice i gave to the lady above and go very early. 9am affair. Lol. |
Mizzzbeee:All u need is 2 trips. Make full use of those trips. - First trip: Go with the complete requirements for opening the account and a minimum of 2000 naira. But if you ask me, i say make it 3K like i did. And be prepared because the form is long oh. U will sign ur signature ehn! like 6 times. lol. The same day request for a Debit Mastercard (Costs 1050). Then collect the phone number of someone in the branch you can call. - Second trip: First call the person, then when u confirm that the card is physically available at the branch then go. To be on the safe side, if they say Tuesday, go on Wednesday morning early (the enrollment talked about below, so dey can do it same day). After collecting ur card, and changing the pin, Request that ur card be enrolled immediately so that u can start using it for Online transactions. Also request for internet banking (free), and mobile banking (Costs 1050). You will need to fill forms for both of them. Added: After opening the envelope containing ur Debit mastercard, and changing the pin. You will find a small update form in the envelope also, tell them that you want to update ur mother's maiden name on ur account so that your card will be able to enroll ur card for oblong transactions. Also request dat you want to do any other updates on ur account that would make internet banking, mobile banking and ur card work seamlessly because it seems like these guys just like seeing customers faces. The two charges amount to 2100 and dats why i said u should use 3K, bear in mind that their minimum operating balance is 500 naira, so after the whole thing you should have 400 naira available balance in ur account. But of course u can always decide to open the account with more than 3K, personally i like to test the waters first to avoid diving into a hot cup of tea. If you follow these instructions, these 2 trips would be enough for u. Cheers! ![]() |
As I said earlier, I went back to Stanbic at exactly 3:30pm, i was delayed a little but what's important is that i left with this beauty. Lol. I can confirm that Ecobank and Diamond bank both charge 2.5% of transaction value for online transactions but as stated in the photo below, StanbicIBTC doesn't charge a dime. Online transactions are free, the reason why they have very good rates. Of course, POS transactions too are free. 240 naira is charged on all foreign mastercards and visa cards for every single withdrawal even if you are withdrawing 500 naira, that is normal for every bank. I lived in Accra for 3 years, i learnt this the hard way lol. Even when i use my Access Bank Ghana VISA card here in Nigeria, i am charged around 3 cedis per transaction i think. Anyways! Time to see what Stanbic has for me. *EVIL LAUGH*

Mizzzbeee: frebor:Lol. Dats why i like Stanbic. If you ask them on Twitter everyday, they will reply everyday. Mizzzbeee:Lol. If you aren't on Stanbic, you are on a LONG THING! Stanbic up! Zenith should be around 200 tho. Jeffy1206:Ecobank called me today , and if you are talking to Diamond Care and the phone cuts, maybe ur credit finished, they will call u back. Ur current bank is stingy, they don't like paying for calls.Yes i am, watch next post ![]() |
Went to Stanbic my card wasn't there. after they told me it was available on twitter and via email. Going back at 3:30pm. |
