Sterling charged 206 ? Chisos

Access bank is the next big fraud

They charged me 225 as at Monday this week
I swear, I'm so glad that i didn't open an access bank account yet.

senoreetah:
What i noticed is that, aliexpress use blackmarket rate, why ebay and paypal use official rates
U probably have ur reason for saying this, but i think it's the same thing. It's the card issuer (ur bank) that decides how much they sell a foreign currency to u, depending on how much they buy from CBN.

hi guys,
just want to sound a note of warning after what I went through at the hands of gtb (N224/1$) where I lost almost 6k

banks are trading using interbank exchange rates which is high
so at checkout, it is better to checkout in naira as merchants such as amazon will use the official rate. however, if you use checkout in dollars, you will be subject to very volatile rates

I paid for an item on ebay charged in dollars unfortunately for me, the seller did not claim his money until after a week....by then the interbank rate had risen from 207 to 224....while the cbn rate was 199.
I created a thread here where we are monitoring the dollar rates. Post there also.

Access bank rates use to be one of the best.
Some people don't calculate it well, sorry oh. Just wanted to be sure.

tumababa:
did you send money through paypal site or you paid on ebay? this increase might be due to 5% paypal fee
wisehouse:
access bank done wipe my acount. #225 per dollar, paid on ebay via paypal. paypal no colect anytin. bye bye to acces bank visa.
As tumababa said, PayPal charges fees as long as you aren't using PayPal credit. If you are paying through a card added on PayPal. I read it only a few days back.

https://www.paypal.com/ng/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_display-receiving-fees-outside

On this page - "It's always free to send money to friends and family when you use your PayPal balance or bank account. Fees apply only if the sender uses a credit or debit card, or if you receive any payment for goods or services"

So if you didn't use PayPal credit, as you didn't. U were likely charges PayPal fees.

Reactivated my Diamond bank account last week, activated Internet and Mobile Banking then requested for ATM Card (VISA) today. I just hope that Diamond Bank will show me love with good rates. Surprisingly thier VISA Cards take only 3 working days. Dats cool. So by Thursday or Friday latest, I should be able to share Diamond Bank rates. Cheers.

You re just being arrogant. He gave his sincere opinion, nobody is competing with You or something, why call him a liar?? Smh.
Never called him a liar nor meant he was a liar. i merely disagreed with his opinion. Everyone should be allowed an opinion. And if only u had spent time to read my last post, u will see where i acknowledge that I'm sure he had his reasons for saying what he said. You even quoted it.I also rememeber phrasing it like this "It's a lie, according to my experience" which clearly suggests that he might have had a different experience. So please don't barger me online. Only cowards fight over the Internet anyways, and I'm not one of them so stop being unnecessarily emotional. Again, I never meant he was a liar and i am truly sorry if dats what he assumed i meant.

sorry for the lie. let us know when you get your refund and how much you gained.
I am sure you have a reason for saying whatever u said. But here is evidence.

As i said, Naira value dropped between 8th of December 2014 and 9th February 2015. I state facts, i don't assume.

hope you know that for cancelling the order after you have already been charged, you should expect a loss of like 8k when you get a refund. cancelling an order immediately you have been charged is not a good idea for a naira account
It's not my first time. It's a lie, according to my experience. As long as they haven't shipped it out yet, the money hasn't been debited from ur account, it's just pending. Happened to me before. The refund took 17 days to return and when it came, the money was even more as Naira had lost value in that time. Regardless, I'll give u a feedback when it comes.

Anyways, lets all try to calm down, no need flaring unnecessarily, ur ranting won't clear the goods. I'm certain Chinos doesn't intentionally want to hang on to your goods. Because believe it or not, no matter how much u spent on them... Chinos has more to lose than urself. Bottomline: Keep Calm and wait.

I called one of their branches around my area and the requirements are

1. Idenfication (Any of National ID, Voters Card, Diver's License, International Passport).
2. Proof of Address (Nepa bill or water bill not older than 3 months)
3. 2 recent passport photographs
4. Minimum of 2,000 naira, as 1,000 is operating fee of the account and the other 1K is for ur ATM card. But i asked for both Visa and Verve cards and Internet banking, so the guy said it was 3,100 for everything. I'll just use 4 or 5K.

Dats about it wink

Hmmm, Access bank? Your money is not safe there. Wait till you hear my gist besides they all have double charges, there is always what they call settlement at the end of any transaction. That settlement junction is only noticed by people with eagle eyes except that one will claim no hidden charges.
Lol mate, if you have something to share, Please do. Dats the point of the thread. I'm gonna get an Access Bank account along with a couple others.

what if they decide to go mad too, just like first bank??as at Jan,they were almost $10 cheaper than other banks.just get gtbank, they are more stable
Actually i have Access Bank account from Ghana and a visa card even and they always got good rates even there. And it's not ths first time someone recommended them. Also, i have plans to get a GT too. One at a time. Plus it's not possible for one bank to always always have the best rates. The idea is having as many options as possible.
