ceechedah: ok, dats wat Am applyin for too, Its just remainin bank statement I don't no If I can use my uncle's bank statement, starflux I wld like u to help me wit dis question too
Yes, any bank statement should be fine.

Icecold Don: starflux, please u haven't replied my last post, I am still waiting for ur reply, tks man
My apologies, the post was removed for some reason.

Swe has tuition fees, only PHDs are the exception.

Well, in short: yes, Telemark is your best chance for energy programmes.
You have courses like this one (physics and energy): http://en.uit.no/studies/program?p_document_id=276202
But I'm not sure if that's what you're looking for. It's rather difficult and time consuming to check every school for such programmes

Most schools opened for application october 1st, deadline is usually december 1st. I advice you to be quick though.

This is the best answer, there is no way of knowing.
CultureRe: Is Igbo A Relevant Language? by StarFlux: 3:17pm On Oct 18, 2013
ezeagu: Yeah, and you don't know/forgot what prose is in Igbo, anyway the point is that Igbo literature is nowhere near as developed as in Western and East Asian literatures.
So that means you should throw away your language?

The day you can only speak a foreign tongue, that's when you'll realize what you've lost.

ceechedah: so r u saying Its d photocopy dey r requesting for?
It is pretty clear in the reply. If they asked for original documents, why would they use the word copy? Copy is a copy as I said. A signed photocopy.
TravelRe: Nigerians In Oslo, Norway by StarFlux: 9:32pm On Oct 17, 2013
No. A copy is a copy.

"A photocopy of a document, judgment, or record that is signed and attested to as an accurate and a complete reproduction of the original document by a public official in whose custody the original has been placed for safekeeping."

ceechedah: Hey starflux, hw r u doing? pls I want to send my original documents to nordland university like waec original cert, original transcript, original international passport. My question is wat r d chances dat my original document will b returned weda d admission is given to me or not, also can't I just send d photocopy of my data page dan d original international passport.
For questions like these I advice you to just contact the university. Send them an e-mail and you'll get an answer pretty fast.

That said, don't submit original documents unless they specifically asks for it, and if they do, you must ensure that they are returned.

Unfortunately, I don't know any, I think NTNU is the only one.

Yes, I'm positive that would be enough for him to qualify. You can send them an e-mail to confirm.

I think I have commented on clinical rotation before. I currently don't have any working knowledge on clinical rotation in Norway. I guess you'll have to e-mail some teaching hospitals.

LORETA: hello starflex....how you today..i am studing in poland maritime schooll..i hope to travel to oslo by this month end.i already booked flight. are you still in poland..if not i love to meet nigerians there? for easy understanding..i am staying 3days ..thursday to sunday morning
Hey!
I've never lived in Poland! When you arrive, I advice you to take a trip to Storgata, plenty of Nigerians there.

O-level results are accepted.

From what I can see now, there are no mass communication programmes offered. Are there any other programmes you have any interest in?

amblessede: hi starflux, gr8 job here. i hv a 3.61 in mechanical eng from Federal University of Technology Owerri. i want to pursue natural gas technology or sustainable energy in NTNU. despite my CGPA being a 2:1, i'm thinking its nt high enof. i knw u r nt in d position to guarantee me being admitted, but wat do u tink my chances r?

also, university of stavanger- offshore technology
telemark university college- engineering & technology
university of tromso- safety and technology
University of Stavanger- Offshore Technology - this one is extremely competitive. If you're in the lower second class segment, you won't even be considered.

Telemark University College- Engineering & Technology - there's 3 different master programmes under this category, I think you have a fair shot at those.

Process Technology
Systems and Control Engineering
Energy and Environmental Technology

University of Tromsø- Safety and Technology - this is not a study programme, it's a faculty. The only programme offered here is Electrical Engineering. The only requirement is is C average.

NTNU
Most of the engineering/natural sciences programmes here are very competive and have high requirements. Both of those you mentioned accept a very small amount of students each semester (11 and 10). I'd say it's unlikely to gain admission here.

Icecold Don: Replying now
Yes, Petroleum Engineering at UiB is not available for you.

The database is available for everyone, but it's written in Norwegian. Usually, it doesn't list master programmes, but it does list bachelors, so you can get the general idea how competetive the masters will be.

Here is a full list of the natural sciences programmes that you can apply for at the UiB: http://www.uib.no/education/studies/master-s-programmes-self-financing#natural
These are all different when it comes down to competitivness and such, so just pick out the ones you want to know more about and let me know, so I can also find similar programmes elsewhere.

Petroleum engineering at NTNU and UiS are competitive. It's not easy gaining admission here. But the chances are higher at UiS than NTNU.

I'm replying as fast as I can, so don't despair if you don't see your reply here. It's coming.

As a general rule, you want to be at least second in class before you have a realistic chance of being admitted to any of these petroleum programmes.

chunaph: Hello starflux ;I applied for MSc geoscience at the university of Oslo with cgpa of 4/5. Do you think I stand a chance of getting admission at the school? Thanks

Icecold Don: hi @starflux luv the work you have been doing. I made a 3.38 cgpa in petroleum engineering and even though I would love an Msc in Pet Eng or Geosciences from NTNU or Stanvanger, from wat u have said in the past I don't fancy my chances, can u please from ur own experience recommend similar courses that I might go for?? Also the 94,400 kronors, can u pls explain d whole process,is it just statement we show at the second stage? must it be in our acct den? how long must it be in an acct untouched and from what month before you can use it to apply for a visa if your application is accepted?? I will be very grateful for ur timely response.
Hey, thanks!

Usually, you transfer the money to the school's account. When you're granted a resident permit and arrive here in Norway, you'll go make your own bank account and the money will be transferred there. As far as I'm aware, there are no limitations. You transfer it after your school application has been accepted. Once the money is on the account, you can go ahead and apply for a visa.

I don't study any of these things, so I can try finding such programmes for you, but can't really say much from my own experience. Only thing I can do is ask around and see if said programmes can be found in a database where the lowest grade point averages from last year are listed, you'll get a general idea how competitive it is. It really depends on the school most of the time. As long as it's natural sciences, it's okay? I'll go ahead and find some for you.
hi starflux. been reading through and a must say uve been a great guy for helping pple here.
please ive checked out the NTNU site, and i would really love to come over for my masters in Telematics - (Communication Networks and Networked Services). im just about going for my NYSC in nov, so i have ample time to prepare for toefl and write the exam. Just wanna know what other requirements are needed. i av a b.sc in computer engineering (3.2/5.0).
my target is to apply towards 2014/2015 session, after my nysc.
Apart from sufficient funds, there's really no other requirement. Just focus on doing your best.

@MrniceG
I don't know anything about Germany, I'm very sorry. It'd be better if you went to a German forum or something like that.

@benrichie46
After studying you have a couple of options. You can apply for a visa renewal. Either because you want to
further your studies or if you want to find work as a skilled worker. If the latter is the case, you will be granted a resident permit for 6 months which you can use to apply for work.

Yes, that 1 million naira will not be enough for 2 years. If you get a job relatively fast it wouldn't be a problem, but it's not enough for 2 years. Probably not even 1.

Ezegozie: i have never had any crime record and will not start in my Msc application,
all i did was to ask you for an advice on the trick i want to play as somebody that have the experience and expected something like

Do this, it will help you
or
don't do this, its risky
just like honourableseyi advised

not telling me you don't support crime, because i dont remember saying that you support crime.
Or telling you dat i am a crime doer
My friend.

Everything you've asked is self-explanatory.

I'm not saying this because I don't want to help you, but because doing such a thing could take away the admission spot from another fellow Nigerian that worked his/hers way up the ladder in a fair and respectful manner.

That is all.

olasco123: hi Starflux please there is something i have not got right from the requirements, some school are asking that you fill a form asking you about your ECTS equivalent in Nigeria. how does one go about that.
Which school is this? A bachelor degree with English as the language of instruction should be sufficient in most cases.

@ Ezegozie
Sorry, I don't support crime. Let me know when you want to do it the proper way.

enesty: Hi ezegozie weldone on this thread am currently serving and woud love to relocate to norway for my msc in global health and get a job afterwards but I came out with a thrid class 2.16 gp ls advise me how to go bout it bak in norway there
http://www.uib.no/studyprogramme/MAMD-INTH#presentation
http://www.hioa.no/Studier/SAM/Master/International_Social_Welfare_and_Health_Policy
http://www.uio.no/english/studies/programmes/ichealth-master/index.html

And regarding "how to go about it". Well, you just have to apply with crossed fingers. Experience/research/work could help your application.
2.16 = C, most master programmes have C as a basic requirement. You do have a fair shot, so definitely apply.

I've said it before, but I want to make it clear that I simply provide information already available for everyone on the net. It can be a bit tricky to find (I know), so I find it for you. I am not someone who can help you beyond that.

enamonasco: Am new here!
Can anyone pls clarify this:
as regards the 2.5M, can i withdraw it once am able to get a residence permit to work because d money was borrowed!
I'm actually not entirely sure.

I believe once you have been granted the residence permit (after transfering the funds), you can do with the money as you please. But you should at least get into the country first.
CultureRe: The Yoruba Root Of The IGBO Eponymous Name by StarFlux:
I know several Igbo/Yoruba related words such as Nti/Eti(Igbo/Yoruba for Ear), Onu/Enu(Igbo/Yoruba for mouth), Ogwu/Ogun(charm/drug), Ozugo/Otito(Its ok/enough), Egwugwu/Egungun(masquerade), Umu/Omo(Igbo/Yoruba plural word for children. Some Igbo dialects say 'Omu') etc.

Looking at the morphology of the words above, any well-versed linguist will discover that the Igbo forms are more heavier and complex in pronunciations and spellings while the Yoruba words are simpler and lighter in pronunciation, or a mild corruption of the Igbo words, which might lead us to conclude that the Igbo words may actually be the parent root words, if we decide to tow the line of easy assumptions.
How did you come to this conclusion? From what I can see of those words, they stay true to the Yoruba sound system, or are you saying Yoruba has a ""z" sound? I'd even go as far as saying those nasal vowels are harder. You can't argue for something, and then put words that are adapted to each langauge's sound system and call the pronouncation "simpler and lighter" when said sound does not exist in one of the languages. There has to be an obvious indicator, and in my honest opinion, I can't see any indication here of "mild curruption" on either side, not even a little bit. I know the "gw" sound is present in Proto-Yoruba, and perhaps some Yoruba dialects, while in others it has dissapeared, so how do you know the origin of these words?

In other words, I don't see anything special here to support such an assumption, unless you know that they were in fact borrowed?

phantasm: @StarFlux. Can you assist with information on how to get a job in norway. What's their labour shortage and what are my chances of been admitted as a foreigner. Actually, my goal is to study and if possible, hold a permanent residence permit there but I can't really afford the 2million+ they requesting. And I'm on a self-sponsorship package. So its difficult raising as much fund. But if I could get a job, I'd work and save up for my study there (Theoretical Physics)... Would appreciate your response.
Everything that has to do with information technology is in demand. Though, when you're in the country, you can get a job without too much trouble.

If you have a bachelor you can apply for a skilled worker visa, but you need to have an actual job offer first. Other than that, there's really no way around the money requirement I'm afraid.

It's hard, but if you get that money, it'll be worth it.

CelebritiesRe: J-Martins Reprimands Wizkid For 'Broke Fan' Comment by StarFlux: 2:37pm On Aug 27, 2013
muzeze77: Actually Whizkid is correct grammatically, "after erroneously typing ‘i have an hangover’ ". I have a/an [insert adjective here] hangover is correct, you can either use a or an. Normally because hangover starts with H, people expect you to use a, but because when you pronounce it, the H is silent, then you are still correct even if you use 'an'
A/an follows a very clear rule. You can't use whichever you want at any chosen time smiley And as pointed out earlier in this thread, the "h" isn't silent, unless you have found a new way to pronounce "hangover".

That said, it's completely unecessary to start a war over a simple grammatical error. Who cares? Wiz shouldn't have wrote what he wrote, but it's unecessary by the fan to comment like he did. When you're a celebrity, you need to watch your mouth and not let anger get to you, because eventually it can affect you negatively.
