I didn't understand half of the words in the main post Anyway, how fluent is an ordinary Bini person in his/her language these days? I watched a movie and the amount of english was very disturbing. |
Se o le tumo abo-oro yii (can you translate this): a san wa s'owo,a san wa s'omo, a san wa si aiku baale oro E se! |
Ok, that is good! Thanks! |
Great! ![]() I looked in this dictionary (http://www.edofolks.com/words/enga.htm), and it says airplane is "okeho". So could you also say something like eke okeho or would ekena-natin be better? |
Ok, I see. What about for example airport? |
Why is this on the front page? Dis one na for ode sef. |
lol, chey! people can't write in this thread without getting instant ban. But dw, Odumchi said he'll discuss the matter with Seun. Thanks for the translation! What is computer in Edo? Does the words function similar to Yoruba? Like some machines starts with okò or èro, like èro ìsírò is computer (lit. math/calculation machine). Is it similar in Edo? |
No problem! ![]() |
Let me try again. Thanks for all these words! Can you tell me what ilaw agbon means? I know agbon, but the other part? It was written like one word, but I got banned for it. |
LOOOL, I got banned 5 times for writing in this thread. |
Maybe I can post now. Okay, finally didn't get banned. Thank you so much for these words! What does ilawagbon mean? |
Why am I getting banned by this spam bot 4 times ? Abeg, make am stop. This is stupid. |
Got banned 3 times lol! Thank you so much for these words! What does the "ilaw" in "ilawagbon" mean? |
I was banned several times in a row! Thank you so much for these words. Also, I have a question: "ilawagbon" from Chris Idahosa's song, what does it mean? I see agbon, but what does ilawa mean? |
Bot banned me! Wow, thanks for all those words! ![]() I have one questions, there's a Chris ID song called "ilawagbon", what does ilawa means here? |
Wow, thanks! Very nice. I wonder about one thing, what does "ilawagbon" mean? I know agbon, but what about "ilawa"? It's from a Chris ID song. |
I see. Well, I guess it's better to just learn the words and then being corrected later. Looking forward to your words! |
Oh, thanks for these words Ezotik. I will write them down. Please, why is it that Edo state have standarized the ortography to include no tonal marks?? I found a dictionary, but no tonal marks whatsoever. How can they expect anyone to learn the languages like this? |
abeg, pls understand that there are many dialects on this forums that I have problems with and slang. I would rather leave it to someone that can give the right translations. And I am only at beginner level in Yoruba. Numbers you learn fast, learning the language itself takes much longer. 1.) E ku ojumo eyin eeyan mi, a'a jiire bi? Everyday greetings my people, did you wake safely/are you well? 2.) A ku ibere tireedi tuntun, tireedi yi a san wa s'owo,a san wa s'omo, a san wa si aiku baale oro Greetings to the new thread, in this thread we better come by money, we better come by children and prosperity. (Somewhat vague translation, can't put it right in english. 50% chance of it being wrong. San can also mean pay. s' for si which means to not by. Again, I'm mostly guessing here). 4.) mo ki gbogbo yin oo I greet you all. 6.) o to jo meta, nibo lo sa lo lati ojo yi? It has been a long time. Where have you been to this day? You see, this is a perfect example of why I prefer a Yoruba person to do the translation.. It is better to leave it to someone else. O to jo meta - I know only the "O pe jo meta" version. One word can make a huge difference. 7.) tireedi tun tun grin se a ma fa party ni, abi? New thread. We will have party, right? 8.) mo creati tiredi, mo gbagbe. Joo, maabinu simi smiley dis one na to funny lol ^^ I created a thread which I forgot. Please, don't be mad/upset at/with me. 9.) Mo wa pa o. mo wa n bi, iwo lo ti ssalo I am well. (Not sure about the rest) 10.) Se i un ara ule wa, topsy nko? No chance on this one, but giving it a try. Since I see ara here which means body, and ule, which I think is from dubule (sick in bed) or orule (roof) I am going to assume it simply is a question of how someone or Topsy is doing (since nko - how is). |
antontech: Can i create a wireless network to be used by friends and my pc with these windows fone?,i doubt it.i hv to go and by more symbian nowI know for certain you can do it on Android. |
Never liked Symbian, not even in its younger days. |
Idowuogbo: The Amala seller's pr!ck.Ooooooh, course. I didn't think of the "al" prefix, which means seller/owner. Now it makes sense. Thanks ![]() Also, for you Eze. Ọgọ́rùnún (100) you can just drop the last (ún). I noticed that the first pair of numbers I wrote in this thread, I'd forgotten to do it. Same with all the other numbers with two "un" sounds. But you can use both forms, as I do. |
Idowuogbo: Am bck now, wetin remain?Ejo oga, what is oko iya alamala? |
Ignore this post lol ^^ |
50. Àádọta 60. Ọgọ́ta 70. Àádọ́rin 80. Ọgọ́rin 90. Àádọ́run 100. Ọgọ́run That's as far as my knowledge goes. Above hundred I just use the simplified system, because it's too difficult, and I haven't learned it yet. 101. Àpò kan ati kan. 110. Àpò kan at'ìdì kan 123. Àpò kan, at'ìdì méjì l'ẹ́ta 600. Àpò mẹ́fà (You get it). At'/ati means "and". 1000. Ẹgbẹ̀rún or ọ̀kẹ́. I will leave those translations to someone else. Taking a break for a while. BUT LOL, I have to comment on this one: 8.) Mo creati tiredi, mo gbagbe. Joo, maabinu simi smiley Creati tiredi (at least the person tried, hehe)Anyway, it isays I forgot to create a/the thread. Please don't be mad at me. |
King - Ọba Prince - Ọmọ aládé ọkùnrin (you can drop ọkùnrin, you can also use ọmọ ọba) Queen - Ayaba or ọbabìnrin (first is more like the king's wife, and the other one a monarch) Princess - Ọmọ aládé ọbìnrin (same as prince, you can drop ọbìnrin) House - Ilé Town - Ìlú Wife - Aya or ìyàwó Husband - Ọkọ Book - Ìwé Shoe - Bàtà Goat - Èkérègbè or ewúrẹ́ Cow - Màlúu Man - Ọbìnrin Woman - Ọkùnrin Boy - Ọmọdékùnrin Girl - Ọmọdébìnrin Brother - Arákùnrin Sister - Arábìnrin Light - Ìtànná Rain - Òjò eji Earth - Ilẹ́-ayé Heaven - Ọ̀run East - Ìlà oòrùn West - Ìwọ̀ oòrùn North - Àríwá South - Gúúsù Chair - Àga Heavy - Wíwúwo Children - Àwọn ọmọ (Plural + child). Ghost - Iwin Tree - Igi 45. Aárùndínládọta 50. Àádọta |
35. Aárùndínlogójì 40. Ogójì toshmann: starfluxHehe, thanks! |
Yes, oga is Yoruba. |
You are correct abour the numbers. Let me get back to you on the translations when I get home. Ok. Agbaya - a fool Oloshi - a destitute perosn Were - an insane person O ma gan - hmm, idk what this is supposed to mean. Maybe it/you too much. Depending on tone, ma could mean many things. Gan means much. kagbe nkan - don't know "kagbe", sorry. sinu nkan o - inside something/something inside it. As I am learning Yoruba myself, I don't know everything. So unfortunately, someone will have to translate those for you. |
No there is no entrance examamination. I failed to mention that (depending on course) you might need a TOEFL test to show to. But that's it mostly. |
I am also curious what kind of editing you are doing, because video editing can be very heavy. I would recommend an i7 generally for such work, but it also depends on the software you are using and budget of course. |
Bachelor or master? What will you need? 1. Student visa. To apply for a student visa you need sufficient funds (around 2-2,5 million naira) to cover the cost of a year's study. In other words, for your visa to be granted, you need to have this money. You do not however, need to use it. Also, jobs are available, so eventually you will be able to cover all your costs that way. 2. If bachelor, you will need a Norwegian language course (+1 year). 3. Other fees. The ONLY fee that you will ever pay, is the semester fee which is 8000-16000 naira. If this is Ok with you, what course are you looking for so I can find schools for you? (Going offline for now, will reply when I wake). |
