Very sad. I will not give you a lecture, as there have been many posts about it already. Hopefully you learned your lesson. As for this Chibuzor Eze, money doesn't last forever, there are more valuable things, which makes it very sad that you are willing to destroy your own name for 30,000 Naira. If you think that you can take money from a hard working person, and that it will go unpunished, you are a fool. As they say, asiwere lo bi iya obo. |
Well, as already mentioned, you can do this in pretty much every language! Still cool ![]() |
Very interesting! Thanks for sharing ![]() |
we must refrain from translating yoruba in linear terms. i will give you example."promotion"is translated as "ilosiwaju". pro is a term generally meaning support or in aid of something. .motion is a mechanical movement, forward or backward or sideways. so if translted linearly promotion will not then equate to ilosiwaju. the functional sense of what promotion does is what gave it the meaning of ilosiwaju in yoruba. it could also be progress. therefore, by correctly identifying the purpose of sim we can approximate a term that gives it meaning in yoruba cosmos. yoruba language is a cosmos in itself. i know what sim stand for and what it means......but,. what does sim do?
SIM identifies the one using the phone. That's generally the purpose I believe, so they can be billed etc. I agree that translating literally is usually not a good idea, but I can't seem to find another good way to say it. Maybe phone holder card would be a better translation into Yoruba. Or phone card can work just fine. |
Hmm, old thread, I know! But never saw a proper answer here. There is no need to translate SIM, most languages retain this and just add "card". So SIM paali or paali ero isohun. But if you want to translate the entire thing it gets a bit harder. I don't know how to translate "subscriber" into Yoruba, since SIM means subscriber indentification module. I know to subscribe is: fowo si (iwe), but not sure how to turn it into subsriber. Maybe paali eni ti o fowo si iwe ileese ero isohun. |
Nice site! |
Lol, that is definitely not Edo. It's either Spanish or Portuguese. |
I actually think before colonization at least in Nigeria, very few were starving/poor. If anything, it has made everything worse. Japan too did not industrialize before they were forced to. Who knows, maybe Africa could've done something similar. Though, Africa was hard to travel in and people weren't as united, apart from a couple of great kingdoms. So, who knows? Maybe or maybe not. But I wouldn't say industrialization is synonymous with development. Different people, different needs and interests. |
The game was rushed, and this is the result. Tried the beta and was dissapointed. |
Biim: 1)I will drink GarriWise words. |

Emmyk: yeah. Like your signature.. If there were no ami on it one might have call it (WAYRAY-WAYRAY)...MAD-MAD.Very true ^^, My mother tongue isn't an African language, but European. Norwegian. What I like about it is the "pitching" as they call it. Words follow a very specific sets of pitch. Though not a heavy tonal language like Yoruba, there are certain words where pitch can distinguish between two or more different words. |
Oh yes, tones! It is very nice. |
jidegirl12: GoshGARRI? How can you hate garri? Se - question marker, garri - garri, yi - your, kon - sour (I think it's written kan). |
What is ami? As for your question, I have never really thought about it. I will think about it and get back at ya ![]() |
Steam has a sale on cheap games if you are interested. |
I don't like the plastic on these Samsung phones. I much prefer HTC. |
Mother tongue! But I also think thinking in the language you're learning for example, is a good way to improve. |
Sad thread. I wonder how people actually believe this. One can only laugh at it. There is no such thing as IQ/intelligence. Different minds develop differently and different talents along with it. |
This is so sad Hard to believe that people would do such things. |
Sunymoore: ok, so we have common likes. Halo 4 is also good but i rather upgrade to a poweerful machine. Is what i heard too, dats y i dnt even buy it. I will be getting a cooling pad soon. That's nice! |
Sunymoore: no guy i prefer using computer. Did u have one?I prefer computer as well. I have an Xbox 360, but I rarely use it. Was thinking of maybe getting Halo 4 at some point, but not sure. Have you played Assassins Creed 3? I heard that it dissapointed. |
Sunymoore: did u play some of itNot too many of them, sadly. I play Assassin Creed and BF out of those. Do you have a console? |
Is the three-headed cobra for real? |
Sunymoore: ok AMD will be much better for ur lappy man. Am a hardcore intel fan wo mind u. For the games i play check my previous post on dis pageOh, I see! That's a nice list ![]() |
bokohalal: Omo(n)yemwen is the only Bini name above.I don't know, got them from the internet, but they do look like Bini to me, but if they are not, my apologies. Though, I'm pretty sure for example: Agbonkhina, agbon means life, and khina means this is. |
Benin names: (Male) Agbonkhina Ahigbe (Female) Abeiuwa Omoyemwen (Unisex) Ovie Osazumwen You can also look on the net, there are many sites with Benin and Yoruba names. |
Does anyone know any good phrases, idioms, words etc that could unexpectedly come in handy? |
Sunymoore: Of course it depends on personal usage. so u r also an intel fan? but which type of games did u mostly play and why did u say that ur lappy has intel for no reason?I don't really do much on my laptop other than writing word documents and some browsing (+ movies and music), so AMD would've worked just as good, while being cheaper. I wouldn't call myself an Intel fan, but I think they are on top when it comes to CPUs at the moment, but I would hate to see it turn into a monopoly. I play a lot of games, BF3 and Guild Wars 2 are some of the more recent. What about you? |
moreeni: Oh boys!how time flies. Sorry you had to go through all that cos most girls don't really like hair on the face anymoreTrue dat ![]() |
Very funny guy. |
