Emylexray: To add to it. Most people are too theoretical rather than practical. They would read motivational and inspirational articles like this and get convinced ! Some become impressed, for that moment, they become positive minded but they would not channel this motivation into practical steps that would yield results. That's why articles like this will not yield dividends unless and except practical measures are taken. In summary, quotes and motivational articles won't and don't work except complemented by PRACTICAL measures. Nothing works except you work!So true! |

The road to success is not smooth. Making something out of yourself in our high rising society can be intimidating. With all of the stress that the world puts on becoming successful, we can often get discouraged. Keeping a positive mind will set you down the right track to obtain the goals you aspire to achieve. Keeping these 10 thoughts in your mind daily will simultaneously intertwine subtle excitement for the future into your daily life and add confidence into to your future. 10. Greatness does not happen overnight As a society that has grown well-acquainted to the demand for quick access, we often forget that a career is not something that we can receive at a drive-thru. Of course it is frustrating to desire something so badly and feel as if it will take years to obtain it. But, that long wait provides a perfect amount of time for us to exercise our love for what we are looking to achieve. If you continue to strive for the same goal, no matter how long it takes, then you are truly dedicated to what it is that you want. Many give up due to the strenuous working process day after day, but if you keep that light at the end of the tunnel in your vision, you will feel even more satisfied when you reach it. “Don’t let the fear of the time it will take to accomplish something stand in the way of your doing it. The time will pass anyway; we might just as well put that passing time to the best possible use.” -Earl Nightingale 9. Rejection is inevitable, but it can not stop you from what you want Human beings fall victim to the fear of rejection. Every day, millions of people hesitantly step into the world of business, fashion, medicine, etc. These hopefuls ironically fear what can go wrong rather than what can go right. While the emptiness that rejection leaves us with is like a gash to the heart, it is also a wake-up call. Being turned down from one company does not mean you are not suitable for the job. Being turned away from your top choice of college does not mean you do not have potential or brains. It is up to YOU to take that rejection, toss it to the side, pick yourself up, and go out and try again. Look at it as a bump in the road rather than a dead end. Let rejection build you up, not negatively dictate your future. Afterall, Walt Disney was fired from a newspaper for “lacking creativity.” 8. You have far more to offer the world than you think We are all on this earth for a reason. Sometimes it takes a few ups and downs to find out that reason. It takes trial and error to realize what you can accomplish. Every one of us has the potential to change the world. We all have something within us that was set there at a young age and is waiting to be released. Whether it be a component of our personality that can turn the world into a kinder place, a simple thought that can create extraordinary products, or the drive for success that can form a multi-million dollar company, we all possess a skill. Remind yourself that you have a purpose in life and the world is waiting for you to share it. 7. Opportunists set the grounds for society Those who go out there and make the best of what life has to offer are the happiest. You may get the feeling that there will be no more job openings or internships in your field by the time you are eligible for them. Right? Wrong. We live in a prosperous world that grows with every passing minute. There will always be new opportunities out there. If you mold yourself into one of these kind of people, you will eventually and surely receive what it is you are looking for. Opportunities are everywhere. Seek and you shall find. 6. Risks aren’t always bad Taking your confidence and turning it I to risk taking is an excellent attribute. Risks are scary to most, for it takes one out of their comfort zone. This being said, stepping out of your comfort zone is a step in the right direction. Life begins when you remove yourself from what you’re used to. Tell yourself that it’s okay to enter new territories! Travel. Take chances. Do something that you’re scared of. Set up a job interview with a prestigious company. Put yourself out there without fear. 5. Pick one present you want to reward yourself with when you reach a milestone The road to your future doesn’t have to be strictly stiff business. Giving yourself leeway for pleasure will help you stay on track. Set smaller goals on the road to your large goal. When you land an internship, treat yourself to a nice pair of shoes. When you get a raise, reward yourself with that watch you’ve always wanted. Praising yourself for your accomplishments will help you stay focused to keep working as hard as you can. Remember that you are a human and humans need self-fulfillment to progress. 4. Support System If you’re lucky enough to have a single person that believes in all that you are, you’re lucky enough. Not every successful person was fortunate enough to have a handful of people that supported them along every failure and triumph. If you have a close knit group of people you can rely on to boost you up when you’ve reached your lowest, you should thank them often. You may feel alone along the road to success, but remember those that are rooting for you. You can find this support in parents, relatives, friends, teachers, etc. Don’t take them for granted. They are the ones who will be by your side when you start from the bottom and when you reach the top. 3. You are already halfway to your goal just by dreaming of it- now get out and do it! There are millions of people that lack any ambition. Those that do not strive for any sort of success are the ones who will not make it nearly as far in life as you will. By experiencing failures and rejection, you are steps ahead of those who don’t even try. Remind yourself that you are already closer to reaching your dreams and goals just by having the courage to dream at all! 2. Remove “can’t” from your vocabulary. Permanently. It is one of the most cliché sayings but holds much truth. When you restrict yourself from something because you think that you “can’t” do it, you are only withholding great potential from the matter. You CAN do it. We all are capable of greatness. Recite “I CAN do this” to yourself 5 times when in doubt. 1. You are capable of anything and everything When you get up in the morning, don’t rush to get a cup of coffee. Rather look in the mirror and remind yourself that today is another day to set forth towards your goals. You have the ability and resources you need. Release any negative thoughts and remember that you are a strong person who can satisfy your innermost desires as soon as you make the first step to do so. You have strength, courage, wisdom, and individually thrust upon you. Make it count. |
Gusau - Gov. Abdulazez Yari of Zamfara on Monday said gunmen had killed 160 people and abducted 10 married women in different villages of the state in the last three months. Yari made the disclosure when he addressed members of the House Assembly on security situation in the state in Gusau. He said the situation had caused disaffection between residents of the affected villages and the state government. The governor said the hoodlums, who continued to terrorise villages in parts of the state, stole no fewer than 6,000 cows and 4,000 sheep within the period. Yari said the state government was handicapped, and urged the Federal Government to deploy more security personnel to the state to protect lives and property of the people. The governor said the state government had committed a lot of its scarce resources on security issues, and called on the Federal Government to stand up to its responsibilities. The Speaker of the house, Alhaji Sanusi Rikijin, assured the governor of the assembly’s support, “We will consult with other state houses of assembly and the National Assembly to ensure justice, equity and fair play in the country,’’ Rikijin said. Happy so many people opened up, i am still young and never had an abusive rlationship Maybe some how i know how to tame the Men i've come acrossed. This days abusive relationships is on the increase, lost count of many instances i have read in the dailies most notably the lagos banker... Many lives have gone beyond, as a result, its now a everyday thing Don't know if its pressure or what could have caused a Man to lay his hands on someone, you pleaded, courted, paid bride price for, the daughter of your child(ren), the one you claim you L♥√ع .... I try to find answers, but i found none, you just notice the man has turned a beast ready to devour, most turn their wives into punching bags, they can't even fight their mates. Personally, i think its a curse for a man to lay his hands on a woman. They deserve your respect, we should be protected by you and not abused, we should be cared for and loved, there are better ways to correct, reproove a woman, other than bashing, beating hitting, its not even manly, if you can't control your temper, you are not a Man. As a lady immediately you notice such, please run for your dear lives and never return, i cannot but agree less to what babyosisi has said on this thread(she's been a great role model to me nairaland coupled with greatgod and some others) Run and don't give a second chance to such Men, forget the crocodile tears they shed or the pleadings cos he'll still repeat it when given a second chance, and another thing is do not be silent on the issue, that's why many have gone beyond They keep quiet, in such situations, speak out, you need help, and most importantly, learn to be less dependent, work and have your money, earn your respect, don't act like a beggar, you are his wife, learn how to tame a Man to your taste, be a strong woman, don't be a pendullum he can just push anyhow, you are a woman, be strong Lastly, learn how to control your tongues, it sure gets many of us into trouble, a man does not joke with his ego, even if he is financially unstable, don't talk to a man anyhow, be of a good character, don't useless him in public or disgrace him amidst his friends, don't be insultive and rain curses on him, it sure alters their ego and cause him to overreact. Their are better ways to deal with a man. Men are like dogs, but they can be trained to whatever you want them to be, some dogs eat poo, some don't, some sleep and live in a nice place, and some roam about the streets, some dull, some intelligent! Silence is the best answer, smiling is the best reaction to all situation, |
This will be my first post here although, I have been following this thread for sometime now, amma arsenal fan, a football fan, i also like barcelona, but when you grow up with boys as a lady you are forced to share some interest with them, in summary i became an arsenal fan due to my brothers, i have been supporting the club for over 6years, i love the team style of play, when i am at home, we watch matches together...below is my take as regards today's match, copied from my post on the match day thread.. Glad we getting results, afterall that's all that matters, our midfield needs to get their groove back, we are known for our ball retention, passing, silky moves, skills and creating clear cut chances. The present midfield led by anchor man flamini, is kindaa too defensive, rigid, loosing balls easily, αℓωαчs in a hurry to release passes, which most of the time do not reach the intended players. Little wonder all our goals came from setpiece. Maybe the return of arteta, and cazorla will make things get better. Ozil actually have two assists today and not three, the first goal was a rebound, don't think he is at his best yet. We also need a striker, we are just managing Giroud, his control is poor, passing poor, his speed low, and he is also indecisive at times, although he seems to be winning long balls for us, he has a kindda connection with the keeper and most importantly he needs competition to step up, i expect him to be scoring more goals from open play and a better positioning too. Good game for gnabry, wilshere taking too much risks, solid performance from flamini, ramsey still surprising me, just hope it is not a fluke, gibbs our best defender for now, not really a top performance from koscielny, but he performed well, metassacer,(not sure i got the spelling), performed well so does sagna with both capping it off wit goals, the g.keeper, had a great game. Its too early to say we are genuine title contenders for naw, but with each passing game we are prooving our doubters wrong, wenger is now more relaxed on the bench, unlike when he used to slam water bottle on the floor, lool, emphasizing the importance of buying a top quality player as evident in ozil, i L♥√ع the guy, so does 99.99% arsenal fans. some legs are weak, guess, ramsey, kosh, sagna, gibbs, wilshere, giroud needs to be rested, we were outplayed in the closing stages due to fatique, can't wait for cazorla 2be back, same as rocisky and chamberlin. For now, let's enjoy our reign on top of the table, we have the winning mentality, the team spirit, and we getting the results too, pray manu and manc play a draw, and an upset for totteham! ![]() |

President Goodluck Jonathan has terminated the appointment of two of his Special Advisers. This was disclosed in a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Reuben Abati. The statement said the appointment of Joy Emordi, who was Special Adviser to the President on National Assembly Matters, and that of Tunji Olagunju, his Special Adviser on the New Partnership for Africa's Development (NEPAD), had been terminated with immediate effect. "President Jonathan thanks Mrs. Emordi and Dr. Olagunju for their services and wishes them success in their future endeavours". Mr. Olagunju had served as Special Adviser to the President on NEPAD since June 2007 while Mrs. Emordi was appointed in 2011. The President had also last week fired nine of his ministers. http://trends.com.ng/breaking-jonathan-sacks-joy-emordi-one-other-special-adviser/ |

MAIDUGURI (AFP) – Suspected Islamist insurgents dressed in military uniforms set up checkpoints in an attack in Nigeria’s northeast, killing an unclear number of people and burning dozens of buildings, residents and authorities said Wednesday. The attack on Tuesday evening in the Benishiek community in Borno state saw suspected members of Islamist extremist group Boko Haram invade the area, attacking residents and motorists. https://dvsl3w2q45hb8.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/boko-haram-BURNT.jpg One of the burnt school buildings in Maiduguri A Borno state government official said at least five local residents were killed in addition to an unclear number of motorists travelling through the area, while about 50 buildings housing shops and homes were burnt. “Based on the information at hand, only five residents of the area were killed,” said Garba Ngamdu, an adviser to the state governor. “A large chunk of the victims were motorists travelling on the highway, although we do not have a tentative figure yet.” An army spokesman confirmed the attack and said a number of residents and tanker drivers had been killed, but declined to provide further details. Residents recounted seeing bodies along the roadside and said the attackers were singling out those from Borno state. The reason why was not immediately clear, but Boko Haram members have repeatedly carried out revenge attacks against residents over the emergence of vigilante groups that have formed to assist the military. “The militants arrived in military vans and uniforms around 6:00 pm (1700 GMT),” Mallam Isa Manu, a motorist who escaped unhurt, told journalists in the Borno state capital Maiduguri. “They set up checkpoints on the Damaturu-Maiduguri highway and ordered motorists to park and identify themselves.” Benishiek was also the scene of clashes on September 8 between suspected Boko Haram gunmen and vigilantes. Five Islamists and 13 vigilantes were reported to have been killed. A military offensive launched in May aiming to end Boko Haram’s four-year insurgency appears to have pushed the extremists outside of major cities and into more remote areas, where attacks have been occurring. Separately on Wednesday, the military claimed a strike on a Boko Haram camp in the northeast last week left about 150 Islamists and 16 soldiers dead, amid reports of dozens of troops killed. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2013/09/several-killed-housesvehicles-burnt-in-fresh-boko-haram-attack/ |
It sounds like the stuff of nightmares - but Guy Whittall will certainly be checking for 'monsters' underneath his bed, after waking up to find an eight foot crocodile hiding just inches from where he slept. The 330lbs giant had sneaked into the Humani lodge, Zimbabwe and spent the entire night lying quietly, just fractions beneath an oblivious Mr Whittall. The beast - a Nile crocodile - had managed to stay hidden for more than eight hours overnight. https://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2013/09/17/article-2423311-1BDF0E59000005DC-591_634x480.jpg The following morning Mr Whittall - a former Zimbabwean cricketer - had even perched on the edge of his bed, with his feet dangling over the edge, just inches from the crocodile's face, as he organised his day. But the 40-year-old remained oblivious to his uninvited guest and was only alerted when he was enjoying some breakfast in the kitchen and heard the petrified screams of a housemaid. https://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2013/09/17/article-2423311-1BDF0E28000005DC-689_634x489.jpg Mr Whittall, who is a director at Humani, ran back to his room and was horrified to discover the enormous crocodile nestled under his bed. He said: 'The really disconcerting thing about the whole episode is the fact that I was sitting on the edge of the bed that morning, bare foot and just centimetres away from the croc. 'Crocodiles are experts at hiding, that's why they have survived on Earth for so long and why they are the ultimate killers in water. They know how to keep quiet and go unnoticed, it's in their nature. 'The crocodile came from the Turgwe River which is a couple of kilometres from the house. 'They often wander about the bush especially when it's cold and raining. I think he liked it under the bed because it was warm.' He was forced to call in some of his co-workers who helped remove the crocodile from its new lair and release him back into Humani's Chigwidi dam. Mr Whittall said: 'Of course he resisted being roped and hauled out from under the bed, that's only natural. 'Catching and securing a croc of any size on land though is a fairly straight forward affair and we are experienced in that. https://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2013/09/17/article-2423311-1BDF0E68000005DC-983_634x352.jpg https://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2013/09/17/article-2423311-1BDF0F44000005DC-249_634x489.jpg The only real danger is getting bitten because it can't drown you. 'The most important thing is to get its snout roped and secured and then it's just a matter of restraining it and covering its eyes, to calm it down. 'Bigger crocs require more manpower obviously though. When roped they thrash around frantically and are extremely powerful. 'I just remember thinking "goodness gracious, that's one for the books". 'I'm pretty sure everyone in Humani checks under their bed before going to sleep now anyway.' but soon the creature was released back into his natural habitat, where he happily swam away https://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2013/09/17/article-2423311-1BDF0E18000005DC-191_634x449.jpg http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2423311/Man-40-finds-8ft-crocodile-hidden-bed-spent-entire-night-just-inches-slept.html |
I think he is being sarcastic with his comments, no one gave the super eagles a chance, especially considering the fact that they had to face ivorycoast in the Q.F's, and i for one believe if we have many key players like onazi, moses and emmenike in the confederations cup, we will atleast reach the quarterfinals of the competition. Yes, the individual skills(lyk we had in okochas dayz is no more there), the flair is no more there, their game is slow, he was right, but by far keshi will go down in history as one of the best coaches in African football, no one woud have given the homebased players a chance, yet he was able to integrate them into †ђξ team, he blended them wit their foreign professionals and made them a important part of the squad, he is also a disciplinarian, and someone who brings the best out of his players, mikel has never been this good under any previous national team coach, no one knows mba before keshi era... Lest, i forget he has never lost any match prior to the confed cup in brazil, and yet to lose to an african opponent, dats impressive, face it mr. Bonfere jo, stephen keshi is a better coach than you were, than you are and than you would ever be, that's the bitter truth! Enjoy your retirement sire! Watch the super eagles qualify for the world cup, perform well at the competition, and hoopefully win the competition. As for me and many other naija football fans, we are happy and impressed with the team, your opinion does not matter. #team eagles#.... |
