CareerRe: My Experience Working With My Boss ,was I Wrong To Quit? by Stephen0mozzy: 9:57am On May 25
First of all. NO! You did not overreact, and you did not do anything wrong to address her wrong attitude and quit the job.
Not all employers are like this. There are bosses who actually appreciate and reward selflessness on the part of their employees. This particular one is just an un-forthu-nate sad soul.

I've worked with very toxic bosses, and worked in very amiable bosses, and the difference is clear.

Sometime in late 2014, I was working at a Printing Press being paid N13k as a graphic designer, the boss was a man - but God, I've never seen a more USE_ LESS SON OF A BIA-T- CH. There is no happy day in the office whenever this man is around - he insults the staff, insults the wife in the presence of the staff, insults customers when they "price too low" - BUT there was one particular guy he NEVER INSULTS - I'll explain why at the end.

So one day, we were working on a project, anyone who has worked with Direct Image machine will know that, paper is bound to jam, na so this man curse the world out of our body - he specifically called me devil sha - mehn, I just sofri type my resignation letter that day, when he stepped out of the office, I also left! I quit - It was almost the end of the month - but I said f--k him and f__k his salary!

Now, you see that guy who he never dared to talk to anyhow? THIS GUY WAS A BIG BOY - He was a freelance professional photographer, so he didn't really even need the job - the man literally begged him to come and manage the photo studio we were running, and this vile man of a boss never talked to him anyhow.

Where am I driving at with this? I understand the need to take up a job so as not to stay idle, but when you're working as an employee, make sure you're doing your assigned duties, but FROM THE VERY FIRST DAY, YOU MUST SET THE TONE for what you will and WILL NOT TOLERATE. I am currently working somewhere now, Everybody respects themselves, I do my work perfectly well, BUT they've had the opportunity to see that I don't TAKE DISRESPECT, and luckily, no one has tried that with me - I'll leave (like I said up there because there are options).

The tasks you were doing before fiverr and upwork went beserk, is there a way you can replicate same success on other platforms? Maybe by cold mailing/dms? See if you can find ways of getting referrals, and continue your freelancing - NO TOXIC WORKSPACE IS WORTH THE SALARY.

One prayer I pray every day is this: "May God not allow me be in a dire situation financially that will force me to take nonsense attitude from an employer".

See how criminally minded some Nigerians can be,you cannot advice the lady to go pay up her loan but you are here advising her to sue the company that did her a favor by lending her money during hard times.

That is how some of you kill peoples business.

So you dont know the company has a lot of obligations to meet like paying workers salaries, fuel for gen, data, transport and other operational cost hence might resort to desperate means to get back their loaned monies.
Okay bros. Nor vex. Did you by chance see the place where I said the girl should pay her loan? When she pays, how does the company recompense her for the slandering and distress of pronouncing her death with an obituary? That's why the law exists - to ensure people don't abuse processes.

Do u think she will have money going to court regularly not to talk of getting a lawyer..... Someone that cannot pay a loan !!!!
Did you read the part about "a lawyer that knows how to cash out".

If a good lawyer settles down to see if she has a valid case and can win, he'll take the case without upfront payment - on agreement of 50-50 split of whatever he is able to get in settlement.

Like some other guys have said, maybe na because I dey watch too much movies.

They'll likely not want it to go to court - especially if you approach them with a reputable law firm. Reason being thay, if it goes to court, the case will be publicized, and will draw more lawsuits from other people they've "defamed".

But then again, it's just hypotheticals.
BusinessRe: A Loan App Posts A Lady's 'Obituary', Tarnishes Her Image For Owing Them by Stephen0mozzy: 7:59am On May 24
If this is true, food don done.
First, the lady should ensure this email came from a number or mail that is traceable as an official outlet of the said loan app.

THEN SHE SHOULD PAY THE LOAN.

Now, go get a lawyer who likes to cash out. Sue them, and make una settle out of court for like #5million.

My father was assassinated when I was 1½ year. He was a bike rider then. His assailant took the bike after the deed was done. Hmmmm
God made way for me, I struggled at first but merciful extended family members, hustle, friends and others.

Although, I do things I'm ain't proud of while growing up because I lacked a father figure but when Jesus Christ came into the picture. It became bliss and I took his yoke and burden which were light and easy... So many times, I was depressed, I cried but there's no one to be blamed. The dead cannot be blamed because all things worked together for good.

Last year, I graduated with a First class in the university and currently in a national service.
God be praised 🙏🙏. He's still doing wonders in my life and I believe He'll continue unto His Glory.
May God rest his soul.

Congratulations on your graduation from school my good Sir. May more doors of favour open to you.

There's this allegory called Plato's Cave.... Read about it.

The whole idea is that, when people get too used to their own oppression, they will fight ANYONE who tries to convince them that they can actually have a better and free life.

You can also think about, Stockholm Syndrome - they have fallen in love with their oppressors.

The Ogakpatakpata of them all - Greedy Bootlickers. These set will do and say anything provided they can get the crumbs of the crumbs that fell from the left over of the crumbs from the politician's table.

Read the last paragraph well.

Hmmm.... well, it doesn't make sense to start comparing which pain is worst, I think that's just as bad.

...but most times, inspite of the absence of love from such father, MANY of them still do the bare minimum at least, such as providing even if just shelter, for the family.

And for someone who said goodbye to his at 7yrs old, I think I'd have rather have him around than not.

Kaczynski:
If I were the president of nigeria a scenario that assume failure of my standards. I wouldn't waste a sec on branding. image is for people who think having a car makes them look rich.

Nigeria’s current international reputation is an unhandled exception an entropy disaster of corruption and infrastructural failure. to fix the image first i would purge the corrupt bureaucrats who treat the national treasury like a private server. I’d move every single government transaction, contract, and budget allocation onto a blockchain. no more missing billions. If a politician wants to move a single naira
the transaction must be signed, verified by a bunch of nodes second is the power grid a pathetic joke. a country without 100% uptime is just a collection of people waiting for a timeout. I would bypass the incompetence of nepa by implementing nuclear power pants. thirdly instead of being the world's headquarters for low-tier 419 social engineering scams, I would transform Nigeria into the global hub for technology. I’d lay a 100 gigabit backbone across the country and invite every tech company to set up shop here.
Ouch.... So being a president of this had-been, great nation will be a failure of your standards? How so little you think of us!

But nope... image, global perception is still important - think about the second thoughts that foreign direct investors have, think about the suspicion at visa embassies, etc of your citizens just because the name "Nigeria" has so much vile to it, that left to outsiders, were a plague of a nation.

But we prefer debate. Why should we discuss how to improve international image of Nigeria when Nigeria's image is at it best.
In terrorism, we are the most terrorized.
In corruption, we excel beyond the originators. In poverty, we are the capital. In criminality, we ha no rival. So, how do you want us to improve what we are already best at.

If you think those are not a good image to associate Nigeria with, you should be asking how to change Nigerias image internationally and not improve it.

We are the best in the world right now.
Hehe... I see what you're doing there.

Let's pretend that there's hope, and that hope brought about you as the President. What will you do differently to POSITIVELY CHANGE the international image of our Fatherland?

I feel this is just a made up story sha.. y'all should take it easy in making guys look like monsters.
Definitely made up. But in the abasay scenarios that it's true....

If I'm the guy, I'd resign so she can continue. Afterall, she actually gave him the opportunity in the first place. I don't support biting the finger that fed you.

Secondly, men, make una try dey get more ambition nao. Since you've been working, company policy or not, he should already be using the experience he has now in the job for pursuing other opportunities, networking and using their combined connection to get referrals to a new organization.

Na so some people take dey use pride lose good woman. Person wey actually saw potential in you when you had no job - and from the lady's side, there's more job security in her own position and she's earning more.

For me, I can easily detect an AI content no matter how naturally you try to tone it.... Some even go to the extent of making intentional typos, sigh!

But here's how I strike a balance with getting impressed and not getting irritated; I realize that it takes a level of intelligence to get a top-notch response from the machine, I mean there must have been extra logical efforts or input which the machine will try to keep up with, so as not to reduce it's standard of intelligence, reason why there are different packages, i.e the free and premium subscription...

Nothing beats human intelligence, AI isn't bad, but it makes you lazy intellectually, the best one should use it for is to proof read or cross-check one's work, but as for creativity, it's a big NO for me...
What are the signs you look out for? Em dashes? Sequential use of big words for simple things? 😅

I think for corporate and official writing, it's still okay to just use these tools to speed up the communication - those ones kukuma lack "soul".

But writing as a means of informal communication, or for expressing ideas, apart from the human touch that the readers get, there's also this writer's high that comes from knowing a beautiful thought was penned down from your beautiful minsd
EducationBe Honest, Do You Still Know How To Write? by Stephen0mozzy(op): 7:18am On May 23
Oya, no forming.. coman talk true.

One of the biggest jokes in the Digital space today is "make is sound very human". Human beings asking a machine, to make its output simulate a human. Who you dey whyne?

Of course, that's the beauty of technology, yen yen yen, people adapt. Some will give analogy of writing with pen, to using typewriter then word processors on computers - but in all these the skill of coming up with valid thoughts, logically related points and following grammatical rules was on you and steadily improved over time.

Now, most people jus throw in their "half formed" idea of what they want into any of the LLMs and gradually their writing or even reasoning skills begin to atrophy.

First, it was social media and terrible abbreviations, then people no longer knew when to use "am" vs "I'm", "is" vs "it's" vs "its", "there" vs "their".

Oh me? I love writing gan, I already do enough augmenting my daily tasks with AI alright, like coding assistant, but NEVER in expressing my thoughts.

So, who's up for a challenge... Test yourself if you still know how to write.

In no more than 250 words, write an essay on how you would improve the international image of Nigeria as a country, if you were the president.
No AI submissions.
No prize sha, but you could impress someone.

Over and over again, una dey ask this kind of question wrongly.

Ya'll don't give enough context that will allow people provide a more personalized recommendation based on

1. Your general location - where you are will influence what viable options are available.

2. Whether you want to actively manage whatever business you start.

3. The tenure or timeframe for this turn over...

4. Whether you have business experience or orientation - starting a business without OT you'll likely crash out your capital to learn lesson.

5. Are there specific types of business that's a NO NO to you? Because even waste disposal na business, you just need to buy almost condemned pickup.
