RomanceRe: What Really Makes Someone “Wife Material” Or “Husband Material”? by Stephen0mozzy: 5:48am On May 20
There's no right or wrong answer to this sha. I'll speak from the perspective of a man.

Using the tailor analogy, the kind of dress you want to sew will determine the kind of material you'll settle for. Them nor dey use aso oke sew white wedding gown.

For me, the qualities for MY OWN wife material rating includes but not limited to:
1. She has self-worth (Doesn't tolerate rubbish from outsiders including me - I don't mean trouble making mike tyson o, i mean the way she carries herself).

2. Respectful - As a man, I don't want much, but that respect, chai, very important - I don't mean greetings, I mean your tone in talking to me, not belittling my opinions, regard for the things I hold dear... Never raised her voice.

3. She works and knows the value of money - A woman who has worked before or own a business doesn't really get entitled to your money UNLESS YOU BOUGHT THE RELATIONSHIP FROM THE BEGINNING - so she's always grateful no matter how small ehat you give or do to her.

4. She sabi cook a variety of foods - Nor be me fo marry who go use indomie give our children kwashiorkor.

5. She has skills, and is always learning.

6. She has a mind of her own, quite smart and doesn't live her life on brain rot and ragebait contents on IG and TikTok.
PropertiesRe: My Landlord Gave Me Quit Notice For Demanding For My Right by Stephen0mozzy: 5:33am On May 20
Forget legal action jare. If ywant to stay in the house, just go and talk to him man to man.

That something is right, doesn't mean that the way we ask it is proper - you have said you "demanded", I hope you didn't use the same "attitude" that the word implied?

Anyways, while it's not right, landlords often see themselves as the Lord of the Land on which their house was built - this is a lesson, don't try to be a hero if you can't lead others to join you in doing compound thing.

If you even go to court, the landlord can say he gave you the quit notice because, having considered that the house not having light will be an inconvenience to you, he has decided to terminate your tenancy agreement so you can get a proper house that meets your demand.

Wisdom is always profitable to direct - Landlord wey hold beef with full street naim you think say intimidation by few tenants will faze? You guys could have asked for a general meeting with him and sweet talk him into paying the dues, even if it means contributing small small to assist.

Them nor dey scratch brokos the way e take itch.

Mine was when I went to a Welder's shop to do rabbit cage - Nepo kids no go understand. You know that rectangular iron cage wey dem dey set one kain for inside bush, you'll put corn inside, so if the rabbit (some of una go say na bush rat), enter to eat the corn, the cage to lock.

So, the welder was actually constructing it while I was there, mehn na so I start dey look the light wey dey come out from the electrode thingy o. I just dey admire the thing, dey see the sparks coming out from the welding process. Werey welder man wey suppose be adult nor tell me make I no look am. Na so I carry rabbit cage go house; excited and anxious that by the next morning, I'll be dining and winning on rabbit pepper soup.

That night, I couldn't sleep mehn! It was as if my eyes were being brushed with wooden rods; I couldn't even open my eyes! I be think say I don blind! Eyes wey I norva even use well? Mehn It was a terrible night.

That was when I realized why the welders often wear those special glasses. Since that day, anytime I pass welder shop, I nor dey look them twice. Na composure nor dey even make me run 😅

They say "Curiosity killed the cat..."
Turns out there's an ending part to that saying, which is "...and satisfaction brought it back".

There's no one as curious as a young child, and for some of us during those young years, we let our curiosity almost lead us astray 😅. So let's do a little throwback to those moments when we really learned the hard way, we excitedly did something or try to find out how something worked, and we have never tried it again since then.

Share yours - What did curiosity make you do when you were still growing up as a child that you have not tried again after that event?

Lemme share mine...

Good one dear. Keep soaring.
Use all tools available to ace tests.
But ensure you're also having understanding, and building curiosity to explore.

I don’t want to mention the name of the school. So, I realised that some candidates were getting admission through connections and buying slots. But my parents kicked against all those things. Even if they had the money, they would not opt for that.
You see this? When parents refuse to bail kids out of every shortcomings to save their own face, the child gets to understand that the only way to get high is through hardwork... Not relying on the corruption that's available to the highest bidder since your parents can buy it.

InvestmentRe: Some Misconceptions People Have About Investments That Makes Them Fall For Scams by Stephen0mozzy(op): 8:58am On May 18
Jakarta:
An investment is basically allocating time, money, energy, or resources today with the expectation of getting a better outcome in the future. The returns does not always have to be cash directly.

A person exercising and eating well is investing in his health and longevity.
A person learning a skill or trade is investing in himself for a better future. You paying for your child's school fees today, will be considered investing in him, for a brighter future.

Investing is way bigger and broader than buying assets, stocks, treasury bills and what have you. To each his own people prioritize different kinds of returns from their investments . some may prioritize income growth, others may prioritize stability, knowledge, family, health, human capital, etc.
Thanks for your submission. If we expand the definition of "investments" without bounds, then of course, everything is an investment - even breathing is an investment into not dying of asphyxiation after 2mins.

The thread is about financial investment with expectations of financial returns.
InvestmentSome Misconceptions People Have About Investments That Makes Them Fall For Scams by Stephen0mozzy(op): 7:19am On May 18
There’s a misconception many of us in Nigeria, especially, have about investment, and I think it’s one of the major reasons people keep falling for scams.

When people they hear "invest your money," what they actually imagine is: put 500k somewhere today and get 1 million back in some months. That expectation alone is why many people keep getting trapped by schemes that promise unrealistic returns - small money to pack big money.

THE TRUTH IS: Investment is a long game.

Even if you invest in treasury bills, fixed deposits, stocks, land, or real estate, the returns are often not as dramatic as people think. Everybody keep hammering on "invest, invest, invest", but many don't really understand how investing works.

Example, Land - if you buy land, you're not looking at massive gains in one or two years. Sometimes you're thinking in 5-year, 10-year, or even longer timelines. Same with many other forms of investment.

Now yes, there are situations where returns can come faster. Maybe you're investing in a friend's buy-and-sell business, like cars or goods with fast turnover. But even then, money doesn't magically multiply overnight. Businesses have expenses, market changes, risks, and profit margins.

The problem is that many people have somehow developed the mindset that investment means "quick money."

We saw people fall for M.M.M. We saw similar schemes happen again and again. Every few years, another platform appears promising absurd returns, people rush in, and then it crashes.

But if you understand how investments actually work, some of these promises immediately start sounding suspicious.

Think about it: nobody is printing money.

If you put money in a fixed deposit or an investment platform, your money is usually being loaned out, used for business activities, invested into assets, or used in ventures expected to generate returns. The dividends or profits generated from those activities are where your own returns come from.

And because businesses can fail, markets can change, and assets can lose value, investment naturally comes with risk.

Even stocks are not guaranteed. You can buy shares today and watch prices drop tomorrow.

In the thread on frontpage asking: "If someone gives you ₦500k today, what would you use it for?" More than half voted for "invest." - shey na so e easy? 😅

My question is: invest in what exactly? And more importantly, do you actually understand how that investment works?

Because before investing money, perhaps we should invest in understanding.

Ladies and gentlemen, what are some wrong ideas our Nigeria people have about investment? Share your opinion.

Note: Do not promote any investment scheme here, just help people understand how this stuff works in real life.

Cheers and Happy New Week.

Hehe.... It's hard to really say something about that singular action. But some questions to understand:

1. Is she very bossy?
2. Does she treat the domestic staff rudely

Because, it's very weird other than to try to demean/belittle people would anyone ask a staff to take of their shoes...

Also, that she didn't see anything wrong with it, could mean that she's either:
A. Too carefree
B. Subject to questions 1 and 2 above

There are businesses you can start without incurring the upfront cost of shop rent.
1. Laundry Business - beg your landlord to print banner outside - make many noise on your WhatsApp status and among friends.

2. Perfume business - drop shipping sef - if them order, you go pickup from store of wholesaler.

3. Middleman for Laptops and Phones

4. Phone charging business, you only need a space for small caravan of maybe 150k, small gen of 150k, initial fuel runway of #50k, space for 80k, balance #70k to guide
