Chief of Staff to President Buhari, Abba Kyari, traveling through Lagos Airport, was shocked that Arik's New York passengers have been stranded for 48 hours.

He summoned the MD of Arik,Minister of State for Aviation, Hadi Sirika and ordered Arik them to provide accommodation for the stranded passengers as well as compensate them.

A social media user Fela shared photos  of some Arik airline passengers luggage that have been abandoned at the JFK airport in New York for close to three weeks.

What a pity!What's actually happening to Arik?

ENCOUNTER WITH SUSPECTED KIDNAPPERS AND RECOVERY OF ARMS /AMMUNITION AT YUGA FOREST IN TORO LGA OF BAUCHI STATE

In order to stem the tide of rampant cases of kidnappings,cattle rustling and armed banditry along Toro, Gumau and Ningi axis, the Bauchi State Police Command in collaboration with a renown hunter Ali Kwara organized a well coordinated operation relying on actionable intelligence and stormed YUGA forest, a notorious hideout for kidnappers in Toro LGA of Bauchi State between 5/1/2017 to date in order to apprehend the hoodlums and rescue several hostages who were held in captives.

On sighting the police teams, suspects opened fire which triggered a fierce gun battle.After incurring heavy casualties,hoodlums abandoned their rifles and escaped into the bush with bullet wounds.Weapons recovered include,

1.Eight AK 47 Rifles,
2.One AK 49 Rifle,
3.One G3 Rifle,
4.Two Automatic Pump Action,
5.One double barrel gun,
6.Six Machetes,
7.Ten magazines,
8.Forty Eight (48) Cartridges,
9.Nineteen (19) ammunition of LAR rifle.
10.Three Hundred and Twenty assorted Ammunition. 11.One Charm,one padlock and,
12.Two blue magazine bags.

  However, 48 hostages were rescued in good condition of health.Meanwhile, efforts are being intensified to apprehend fleeing suspects.Members of the public are urged to assist the police with information by reporting suspicious persons especially those with bullet wounds to the nearest police station for prompt action please.

Meet 22year old Oyindamola Omotuyi  who is set to convocate on the 24th of january as the Best graduating student for the 2015/2016 session from the department of Systems Engineering with a perfect cgpa of 5.0.

Was 5.00 GPA your target from the day you got into Unilag? 

Not at all. When I finished my first year, my fellowship- The Redeemed Christian Fellowship had overcomers award and encouraged us to do well academically even spiritually so I was challenged by it.
 
Were you this exceptional when you were in secondary school? Like you had straight A’s in your WAEC?

I had 1st position from Jss1-Sss3. I also finished as the best graduating student in my set. Though I did not have straight As in WAEC but they were all distinctions. 

How easy was it to graduate with a 5.0?

Well, I must say it's been God all through. He provided wisdom at every point. Also, He brought my coursemates and friends who helped me immensely. The likes of Laurina, Rotimi, Gbemi, Yemisi, Tofunmi, The 5, Squad45, Samah, Fesobi, Bidemi, Queenette, TLP etc. I worked a lot with people. It's good to include that there were challenges but the beautiful thing is that they were for a short while. It was not easy but considering the fact that God provided strength all the way, I would say it was easy with God

How often did you use the library since there were many things to read?

To be candid, I went to the library mainly in my first year. Most of my readings were in my room and faculty. 

What would you advise students, both the incoming and those already in school, to do to have an excellent result?

It's good to read but yet read rightly. Ride on the wings of those that have gone ahead. Ask questions about the nitty gritty of the course and what the lecturer wants. During exams, write what your lecturer want to see not what you want to write. Work with your classmates. I must say that I did what every normal student will do e.g. Read, go for overnight etc. But what kept me there and sustained me is the Lord. Thank you.

Lagos police arrests fake soldier for stealing bikes

The operatives of Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested a suspected fake soldier allegedly involved in stealing motorcycles, popularly known as okada across the States in Nigeria.

The suspect, Benjamin Okon, who has been parading himself as military man, was arrested by the policemen on Sunday, January 1, 2017 at about 05.00 hrs after a tip-off from members of the public.

“The suspect was fond of intimidating members of the public under the pretense that he is a military man. His hostile attitude made people not to associate with him, however, when we suspected his moves, we summoned courage to report to the police”, the source revealed.

The suspect, who made a confessional statement during investigation at the Police Command, said that he had an accomplice (name withheld) who received the stolen items from him.

He revealed that he usually goes to neighbouring States to snatch motorcycles, and his receiver, helped him to sell them to prospective buyers.

“I am an expert at snatching motorcycles from unsuspecting members of the public. I had stolen countless Okada, which my accomplice had helped to sell. I do travel far and wide across the country to perpetrate this crime”, he said.

“I robbed and sold looted items to him, and he subsequently sells them to some other persons. Once I bring the bikes to him, he will pay me off and I will move on to steal another one”, the suspect revealed.

In her reaction, the State Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO) Superintendent of Police, Dolapo Badmus, who confirmed the incident, said that the suspect would be charged to court upon completion of investigations.
She noted that efforts are in top gear to apprehend the receivers and others who have connection with the case.
