His Excellency Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje OFR, the Executive Governor of Kano state was among the Muslim faithfuls who converged at mount Arafat on the 2nd day of this year's holy pilgrimage of Hajj in the outskirts of Makkah in Saudi Arabia.

The Governor also visited the Kano state pilgrims in their tents and prayed for Allah to accept their acts of worship and reward them with paradise.

Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje also expressed his delight for a very successful and hitch free Hajj exercise so far as well as the level of preparedness by Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board as each of the Kano pilgrims visited Madina upon arrival in addition to all other logistical arrangements that made the exercise a huge success.

The pilgrims on their part thanked the Governor for the visit and prayed for his administration and Kano state at large.

BAYELSA STATE CARGO  AIRPORT

The state government is currently working to see that the Cargo Airport dream come to limelight the government work with the Federal Ministry of Aviation to develop the international passenger and cargo Airport, which is now under construction.The State Government's contribution to the development of the airport is over 24 Billion Naira. It is a mega project,a lot of sand filling has done. The Federal Government has the responsibility for building the terminal building,the Federal Executive Council has awarded the contract and construction of the Terminal building."
We hope that, God Willing,the new Airport should be ready very soon It is not a military airfield but the idea the Airforce has just come up with having a smaller Airstrip within the Metropolis that will serve Military purposes which will also be opened for some limited civilian flights is wonderful.More so because we are also thinking of a city Airport within Yenagoa having opened up Yenagoa to the investing world from within and outside."
We are concerned about a situation where people will land within the state capital and within the city centre,transact their businesses and possibly get back to their various destinations."
Unknown to the world,The Runway of the Bayelsa International Airport under construction will be 3.4 kilometers long and dredging as well as sand filling has reached advanced stages

It will be of a great benefits after conclusion of this massive Cargo Airport because of the  potential it will bring in teams of Job creation that will even go beyond Bayelsa state , Niger Delta and it will even extend to the entire nation , it capacity in jobs generation is what u never imagine , now that the government is beginning to diversifying the economy.

It will be good for the federal government to continue in the building of the terminal and to take full charge of other responsibilities that it supposed to Cary out for a speeding conclusion of the Cargo Airport in so doing it will go a long way in solving some of the lack jobs crisis that the people are facing.

What a life!

A teenage boy had his hands chopped off with machetes after being accused of stealing miraa.(medicinal flowering plant )

The 17-year-old victim, who hails from Mporoko village, was attacked by seven men while coming from a nearby shop. He sustained a deep cut on his head while both hands were chopped off at the wrist during the attack and is currently recuperating at Meru Teaching and Referral Hospital, Kenya.


Speaking to newsmen from his hospital bed, the victim said he identified the assailants who included two young men, their father and grandfather.

“I was walking home on a path next to their farm when one of the men called me. Because I knew them, I went where they were. They started accusing me of being a miraa thief. While I was defending myself, one of them jumped and cut me on the head. One of them said they should not let me go without chopping off my hands. Their father tied my hands and placed them on a post. That is when their grandfather cut one of my hands and asked his grandsons to chop them off," he said.


The attackers stripped the boy naked and left him for dead in the middle of the nearby road so that he could not walk home, since it is a taboo for a circumcised man to walk naked.

"I hid myself in the bush until around 12am when I walked home. I reached home at around 2am,"

The victim’s lawyer Kirimi Mbogo said three suspects identified as Kirema M’Itirikia, M’Itirikia Itirikia and Stanley Kibundu are in police custody while four others are being sought by police.

"This is a very inhuman act and the suspects must be brought to book. As the family lawyer, we will leave no stone unturned until justice is done for the family," Mr Mbogo said.

Obi calls for genuine spirituality among Nigerians

The former Gov. of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi has called for genuine spirituality among Nigerians. Speaking  at the Vatican City after the canonization of Mother Theresa, Obi said that the life of St Theresa of Calcutta was an illumination of service to God through serving of her people.

Calling on Nigerian churches to emulate St. Theresa's heroic virtues, he decried those that use the instrumentality of the church to deceive the people, submitting that God would pay those people according to the merits or demerits of their deeds.

Obi who took the opportunity to renew his call for close collaboration between church and state for the service of the people said as governor, the lives of people like St. Theresa of Calcutta inspired him. "People like St. Theresa of Calcutta strengthened my resolve to render certain services to our people through the church such as the return of school to them and the collaboration with them on health."

Mother Theresa of Calcutta was canonized  by Pope Francis 1 at St.Peter's Basillica, Rome.

'I met these group of cyclists while on my way home yesterday so I alighted and had a chat with them. I saw in them life and passion, they toured this road covering about 47KM almost everyday.

I felt encourage listening to them. I advised them and motivated them with a little token I had with me, so I got one of the bicycle from them and ply down the road, reengaging my past experience.

Be motivated, we all need a little of this.

After the NNPC delegation had surveyed the land at Anyibe, in Logo local government, they went on a site seeing for the project sites along the Bank of the river From Anyibe to Saghev, in Guma local Government with the Principal consultant, Mr Hur-Ordoo Nambativ by speed boats and stopped at the Confluence between River Benue and Katsina-Ala at Saghev, then back to Agasha.
Engr Usman Umar, Leader of the Delegation from the NNPC commended the people of Benue for their warm hospitality and Enthusiasm for the Ethanol Plant.
Now that the state Government has handed over the maps to the NNPC, the NNPC and the State Government will now value the land of the communities to determine their equity share in the Ethanol plant. Continue to see more photos..

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has dissolved the Caretaker Committees of 17 Local Government Areas of the state.

A statement by Simeon Nwakaudu, Special Assistant to the Rivers State Governor on Electronic Media noted that the dissolution of the Caretaker Committees takes immediate effect.

NIGERIAN AIR FORCE HELICOPTER ATTACKS NEW BOKO HARAM TERRORIST CAMP IN NORTHERN BORNO

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), during a night operation conducted yesterday, successfully destroyed a new Boko Haram Terrorist (BHT) Camp located between Malam Fatori and Kangarwa in Northern Borno.

The new camp is about 4-6km away from the BHT location attacked earlier on 20 August 2016 by NAF Mi-17 helicopter within the same vicinity in a similar night operation that led to the death of about 300 insurgents. The post-strike Battle Damage Assessment (BDA) mission had revealed that surviving BHTs converged at the new location.

The information was later confirmed to be true by series of follow-up Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions that led to the latest strike. Recall that the general area around Malam Fatori and Kangarwa is infested with BHTs hence the need to clear the remnants of BHT in the area.

The air assault is therefore expected to further degrade the capability of the insurgents while fostering the creation of the necessary enablement for own ground troops to operate.

Meanwhile, NAF Alpha Jets have helped to repel an attack by BHTs on troops of 153 Battalion who were on fighting patrol at Ala Lumshe.

The troops, on Saturday 27 August 2016, had come under attack from BHTs about 4km south of Marte when the Alpha Jets were called-in to dislodge the insurgents.

‘WIKE YOU ARE A TERRIBLE DISAPPOINTMENT’ - Dakuku Peterside

APC Governorship candidate in the 2015 elections in Rivers State and current DG/CEO of NIMASA, Dr. Dakuku Adol Peterside, has said that no amount of well-crafted and rehearsed lies and cheap media propaganda can sway Rivers people to believe in the current administration of deceit in Rivers State led by Gov. Nyesom Wike.



Dr. Peterside stated this Saturday in Etche during APC senatorial rally for the rerun National Assembly election.



“The verdict of the people is that Wike is a terrible disappointment and a wasted opportunity,” Peterside opined.

Dr. Peterside said that it has become clear to all that the present government in Rivers state is unfit to lead Rivers people.



“This government has neglected its most fundamental duty of securing lives and property, has earned the unenviable sobriquet of number one state in kidnapping, has borrowed more money under one year than all previous governments put together yet no single project to show for it; has a penchant for inviting personalities to commission projects executed by the Amaechi administration; legalized extortion and multiple taxation and embarked on endless biometric verification as a ploy to owe workers and pensioners six months salaries and allowances. No government has ever been as deceitful as the present government in Rivers state.

“Wike is a terrible disappointment on all fronts; he brought back abruptly over 400 students who were on state government scholarship abroad during the Amaechi administration; shut down government model primary health centres and primary schools,” Dr. Peterside stated.



The NIMASA DG described Gov. Wike as a man who pathologically hates education and wondered how Wike expects a society to progress without its citizens being educated.

“The panacea for this impending doom and generational catastrophe is for Rivers people to vote for APC legislators who will team up with other men of goodwill and rescue Rivers State from misrule, criminality, rascality and exploitation,” Peterside said.

He said the power to liberate Rivers State is in the vote of the people. He recalled telling Rivers people that Wike has no plan on how to run Rivers State but rather poorly copied his road-map to prosperity.

EXERCISE CROCODILE SMILE PRECUSOR OPERATION COMMENCES IN RIVERS STATE

The 133 Special Forces Battalion of Nigerian Army troops have carried out a precursor operation to Exercise CROCODILE SMILE aimed at getting rid of all forms of criminal activities in the Niger Delta geo-political region of Nigeria.

In the course of the operation, 5 militants that attacked the troops were killed in action, while numerous others were injured and 23 suspects were arrested.

The operations which was conducted yesterday 26th August 2016, was carried out by the Special Forces at the militants camps.

Items recovered from the camps include 2 AK-47 rifles, 11 Pump Action Guns, a locally made revolver pistol, 292 cartridges of live Ammunition, 199 rounds of AK-47 rifle Ammunition, 4 electricity generating sets and a Camp Gas Cooker.

The troops also recovered an abandoned Engine Boat left by the fleeing criminals.
