Yes, I read about that and it's a good development. It's not surprising, he does whatever Dangote puts his money on. But BUA's position on regulating and having a uniform price for cement should be applauded.
emmanuelewumi:
BUA is building his refinery. The promoters of Orient Refinery got their license more 15 years ago, but have not done anything about it
InvestmentRe: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by stevemims(m): 10:50am On Mar 01, 2021
That's the point my oga, these guys are businessmen, their profit comes first before patriotism, OBJ had the likes of a young bright Pat Utomi as an economic adviser but couldn't figure that it's only a matter of time before such policy backfires.

The price of cement skyrocketed to 4400-4500 towards the end of 2020, it's been on that path since the end of January 2021. Naija na very unique nation sha.
ahiboilandgas:
it actually succeeded in cement but at a horrible cost ...cements now costly 3300 and unaffordable but available ....in the 90s their used to be cements racket in govt owned plant ....u can sell your allocations and collect rent sharp sharp if u know a big man in Nigeria ....but now we have reach capacity and no scarcity but unaffordable..and they are during same for sugar gradually

.....but it very unfair ....obj was convinced by the group of tony elemelu dangote, otedola and other s that that the south Korean and Singaporean models....few big players
InvestmentRe: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by stevemims(m): 10:34am On Mar 01, 2021
This is why an average Nigerian thinks that Dangote and his cohorts are always favoured by the political class. The same economic policy and strategy failed woefully during OBJ's regime. I won't be surprised if his wish is granted, after all, he has developed the capacity to command such. However, it's just sad that there are no real economic models to drive the growth of this nation, na just so so plug plug.

And of course, I agree with your other points about how other players and actors should have taken the step to do what Dangote is doing. Now that he has done it, he wants no competition. But what's a market without competition?

ahiboilandgas:
Dangote cheif strategies are proposing back integration schemes for oil refinery...meaning only companies that are currently building refineries should be allowed to import petroleum product into Nigeria ....this has been his strategy to coner ever markets he jumps into ( in the guise of local production capacity) to create monopoly or oligopoly...used same for sugar and cements now proposing same for refinery......I visited the refinery projects recently and I observed that the company was more interested in finishing the depots, loading gantry and access road and Jetty ....with a 60m litre capacity completed....they have 3 companies in the location...Dangote refinery (40 per cent completed ) Dangote product marketing company ( completed ) and Dangote fertilizer (complete)....the Dangote petroleum marketing company is supposed to buy refined products from Dangote refinery and sell for profit.... and can source for products anywhere in the world....so since the refinery is not yet ready they can't wait for f they will start by importing this year..... (This a decoy) since enough depot and stations and vessel own by Chapman and Lipman member and non is building a refinery currently if the govt accept the backwards integration then only Dangote product marketing company will monopolize the 1 trillion naira hydrocarbon markets

My brother/sister, the ideas/thoughts I read on here sometimes can't be unread. Nothing is free anywhere, not even in Freetown. At least in naija, these days you can opt not to have an ATM card, in the West you have to have a card, and it gets renewed automatically when expired (and of course, that's not free). In some European countries when you are not a student and you're above 30, you pay every month for owning an account with a bank.
demelza:
^^
It was in the West I discovered that banking is a privilege.
These banks charge you money to save with them. Not like in Nigeria where banks give you interest, no matter how meagre.

Imagine behemoths like JPMorgan Chase or Wells Fargo fighting to retain business of ordinary citizens. When it is known that over 50% of Americans have less than $1000 as savings as at July 2020. So how do these banks make their billion dollars profits then?

Some of them don't even pretend to have your time. If you don't have a minimum amount you can never cross their threshold.

Capitalism originated from these people. Nigerian banks are still learners; they have not graduated at all.

But yeah, let's keep looking at everything from the West with rose-colored glasses.

Ohh! Okay, thanks for clarifying that.
emmasoft:
The shareholder's account number is assigned by d registrar. It has nothing to do with your stockbroking account. You don't have it. Leave the space blank. The form will still fly.

If it was to be in the days of physical dividend warrants it's always written there.
InvestmentRe: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by stevemims(m):
Most times I just wonder where people get this idea of the 'West/Developed economies' having a clean system. Aside from the new generational online banks like N26, most traditional banks charge p.a on a regular savings account which is even different from other charges they deduct whenever you use a token or text message verification for online transactions.

It's a capitalist world people, even the known socialist/welfare regimes still take a cue from how capitalism is reordering the world. As long as you are not a corrupt politician, arms dealer, bandit, terrorist etc., I don't think there is a crime in positioning yourself with shares, loans with low-interest rates, good bonds and legit opportunities in this ever-changing world.

Can anyone help clarify what should be in the column for the shareholder's account number? Should it be a bank account number or a stock broking account number?

How you miss the word "descent" in order to pass your point is what I don't understand.

A German citizen of Polish descent has the right to support which ever or both of the two countries cos he's affiliated to both.

How you support Argentina over Nigeria when you're not a descent or citizen of Argentina is ... Mehn!!!!

And how you even turn around saying those criticising your decision is just a way of "rubbishing messi greatness" is just so damn laughable
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Fc Barcelona Fan Thread: "més Que Un Club" by stevemims(m): 5:22pm On Feb 18, 2021
My brother I tire. You rarely find Germans support the big teams, a lot of them support their local clubs. Just a few days ago, a local team that got promoted to the Bundesliga this season put up a scintilating performance against Bayern's Hans flick.

Nigerians with weird mentality. Isn't it the same way you guys prefer to support Madrid over Enyimba? It's all about choice and preferences. If your country ain't playing good football, you can easily support any nation of your choice. Who patriotism help for sports? You see German citizens who are of Croat and Polish descent supporting where they're originally from over a country that gives them welfare. Different strokes for different folks. You guys should quit trying so hard to rubbish Messi's greatness.

How about someone with the profile below:

Age- 29
Education- M.Eng (2019), Nigeria
Experience- 3 years
IELTS- 6.0 overall

Can this person give this visa 476 a shot?
skibby:
Hi,
There's an eighteen months visa called visa 476. You are qualified for that after your masters degree. You could consider that first if you want to enter Aussie first. Then, you can proceed to process your PR while you enter the country.

This is quite clear! Thanks.
jedisco:
Examples I'd give are Lun0, B1nance, Bundle... They all have apps on the mobile app stores which are quite robust.

For a new entrants, I'd say Bundle is the easiest to use and payout to your bank account in naira is pretty fast. It works off B1nance in a way which gives added liquidity but makes the process pretty smooth. Also their fees are not soo high. B1nance is pretty much the most robust and liquid one there. Has a 'lite' mode as the trading features can get new folks confused. Its also the cheapest interms of trading fees. Lun0 has been available the longest in Nigeria but their fees are relatively the highest and the unavailability of a stable coyn (one priced against the dollar whose price doesn't fluctuate) there makes it less favourable. Also, there's much less liquidity there which can be tiring.

That said, it's not advisable to keep your coyns on exchanges for a long time. Exchanges are like a market place where people come to buy and sell. If keeping for long, it's advisable to get a secure private wallet (preferably hardware) where you can transfer coyns to after buying off exchanges and transfer them back when you need to sell. Most hardware wallets are about the size of a hard drive and can hold an almost infinite value of coyns in your pocket.
