block account update was at union bank and stanbic bank yesterday and today labanon branch and ring road branch respectively.both said I can transfer after expaling for like 5mins showing nessesary doc,union bank rate 229 per euro as of yesterday and stanbic rate is 224.49 per euro, I think stabic is better and with 2k naira you can open a savings account and get ur account ready in 3 working days

I didnt use any of both. I'm actually going for a 3-month research at the University of Hamburg; a prelude to my Phd which i hope to commence after the 3 months stay. My host will be paying me 1000 Euro monthly for the period of stay. It was written boldly in the letter of invitation. So i didnt need to show forth any sort of financial muscle; just my credentials, required documents and proof of work experience.

My pple my pple as i have read jacobs university is expensive but i also heard there are courses with free tuition. And how many of us hear have applied for such courses. Finally wats the convertion of cgpa 2.93 on a scale of 5 in german grade. Wat is also the grade scale wanted in jacobs university. Thank u my good pple. What notes? What docs did you submit? I just converted your gpa and it is 2.0 which is enough. I hope your transcript has a description of the grading.system? Are the programs NC? Please provide more info so that the house.can help out

I think I am also in Nellyb's shoe. I guess its cos we study related courses... I came to realize after several applications and rejections that some courses are generally competitive in 90% of German Universities. Even after meeting all their requirements.
Geoscience courses are known to be expensive in great unis in UK, US n around the world, which made most eyes to be on Germany. Imagine Engineering, physics, mathematics graduates across the globe still fighting for the same slot.

Let me use myself as a case study, I applied to 4 schls against summer 2015...I studied geophysics. I was rejected by all, MSC physics in Muenster n Ulm plus MSC in Engineering Physics TUM. Reason; I didn't meet the requirement based on the number of pure physics I did in Bsc. Finally, by Uni Bayreuth (MSC experimental Geoscience) Reason; I scored 14.5 points in their assessment, minimum point expected was 12.0 (motiv letter was poorly graded). I accepted all these in good faith... Around Feb ending I had to refire n throw more applications. This time around I faced geoscience courses (LMU, Stuttgart, Tuebingen), I bet you my application was well packaged n my GP is 2,2 in German system. By April ending I got feedback from LMU n Tuebingen that I was refused. Reason; although my previous degree is recognized but I was not selected because the course is highly competitive.... I almost lost hope this time around. I later felt I shd change region of the schools I am applying to:I discovered Kiel, Bremen, TU Freiberg n TU Darmstadt*
Presently, I am proud to say I am admitted to TU Freiberg-Groundwater management (I don't mind if its in the east). Still expecting to hear from KIEL, Bremen n TU Darmstadt...I had to mention the schools so that you can
know the calibre of schools that offer Geoscience courses.
No one is perfect, for the fact that you are admitted with one or two apps does not mean you should feel those that 'multi-apply' are wrong. Its a matter of dream and determination.
I would have missed the chance of the possibility of studying in Deutschland this winter if I had stopped at 7 schools, a post I saw in the previous thread inspired me... The guy applied to 13 schools n got d offer of admission from the 13th school.
Please, for the sake of those that are still aspiring to study this winter or next yr. Do not limit yourself and never mind what people say.
My longest post...I didnt point any finger, I just want somebody somewhere to learn from my story.
In short... Don't give up. Cheers

I thought i have posted the link before though. Let me calculate it manually this time.
Step 1: (Max grade obtainable- Grade obtained) ÷ (Max grade obtainable - Minimum grade required to pass)
(5-3.71)÷ (5-1); 1.29/4= 0.3225
STEP 2: Multiply result of step 1 answer by 3; 0.3225* 3= 0.9675
STEP 3: Add 1 to step2 result; 1+ 0.9675 = 1.967
Step 4: Just take the first figure after the decimal regardless of how small or large the number that follows is; 1.967~~1.9
Final answer 1.9

If your pm is about job opportunities in Siegen..Eke has said it all, u ve nothing to worry about. My frnd's student Job is 2hrs away from our city.Since most students ve the semester ticket which allows them to travel round the state for free,its common to see students living in one city and schooling or working in the next city.

Sorry I saw your PM later but it bounced back with the dreaded Mailer Daemon.
Hhmmm.... Siegen may not be too self sufficient without the help of other neighbouring cities. The good thing about NRW is that the cities there are compact and close to each other from Leverkusen, Dortmund, Duisburg, Gelsenkirchen, Hagen, Cologne, Bochum, Mochengladbach, Bonn, Essen, Aachen, Düsseldorf and not forgetting outliers like Paderborn and Bielefeld and unfortunately Siegen is one if those located in the outskirts. Since the semester ticket is going to cover the whole NRW you may be lucky but the only challenge is that the major closest city to Siegen in NRW, Cologne (apart from Hagen) is more than 1 hour 30 mins apart.
However, Siegen in itself is an OK place.
