If we could do something similar to the french revolution, then our country would be set on the right path.since i was born,i have never seen an ordinary nigerian being treated justly by the gov't.we are kept silenced and cheated.why?.we lost over a trillion dollars already to big time corruptionand they expect us to be smiling.our problem as followers is that we accept too little.we must wake up,if we really wanna be great |

In late1989 before ibb left power,he set up a panel to check what type of government is suitable for nigeria.they found out it was socialism.still they refused to adopt it.am just wondering why?did they curse us or what? |

ugo4u: The Chief of Air Staff for me is the best service chief this country has ever had and am not only talking about the Airforce, army and navy is included. The man legit invested so much in R & D, human capacity development, welfare etc his reign had s being nothing short of impressive considering the tight budget they work with. Even army personnel envy the Airforce guys alot and it's quite understandable. It will be nice to see him occupy the CDS position if PMB changes his service Chiefs. The best service chief ever is gen.alani akirinade(cds) and gen.salihu ibrahim(coas) |

Tobiloba2407: I read a case study about an evolution in jaji, for lt.to lt.cdr and equivalent course across the armed forces.....the scenario was equatorial Guinea, been used to undermine the federal republic of Nigeria, with France been the puppet master.... this was probably a late 80s course work, and core to the solutions I read was mig 21, with camera going for recon and other variables , and trust me, you will see brains at work and contingency plans and so on......years later, i keep wondering if the way we keep having ambush and other issues in the north east and there seems not to be a counter, are we deteriorating as a fighting force or getting better. The other time it was a Ghanaian lt.col talking about about altimeter Bombs used during Liberia war, used by Nigerian jet.. that I doubt are used now.....I'm a fighting man, and paid my dues....but are we improving or depreciating I'm asking this because I'm a navy guy, and don't know what the land and air forces have in their arsenal. Pls can u give me link to the paper you read on the case study |

Had it been some of you guys existed in the 80's and 90's as defense analysts, you would have opposed the use of light COIN aircraft like the super tucano, and prefer bomber aircrafts. Thats how this UCAV case is.we just sayin' UCAV is very suitable for COIN warfare like ours.we are fighting a war of attrition.we need to reduce operational costs |

komekn: I would add to what you have said using Turkey as a case study.
Turkey has proven beyond all doubt and raised the game. With its comprehensive wiping of the Syrian army in a matter of days. Primarily anchored on its UAV'S.
The Assad regime suffered heavy losses as a result of the drone campaign: 3,000 soldiers, 151 tanks, eight helicopters, three drones, three fighter jets (including two Russian-made Sukhoi Su-24s), around 100 armored military vehicles and trucks, eight aerial defense systems, 86 cannons and howitzers, ammunition trucks and dumps, and one headquarters, among other military equipment and facilities. https://www.mei.edu/publications/fight-syrias-skies-turkey-challenges-russia-new-drone-doctrine
In addition these same drones have removed Haftar from his position of dominance to one of humiliation and retreat in Libya.
What I am saying is that UAV technology is changing VERY RAPIDLY the entire battlefield management and strategy.
UAV are the current FUTURE, with zero risk to pilots. Turkey has added another dimension electro magnetic warfare, as a consequence rendering the previously dreaded Russian pantsir air defence system effectively impotent.
The latest UAV by Turkey is the Akinci (Raider) which remains the most noteworthy asset of the next generation Turkish unmanned airpower. Produced by Baykar, the Akinci has a payload of 1,350kg of multiple precision weaponry.
Boko for now do not have anything to shoot down anything at high and even medium altitude so UAV technology will dominate unopposed. Which means Boko will struggle to operate and be very limited in what the can do. Thats correct |

Jimi24: Childish, silly, video game mentality carried too far. UCAV technology is not mature. Maybe the Americans get more operational reliability based on more rigorous pre mission maintenance. The days of putting UAVs in the air and shooting missiles or deploying them in a swarm are still far in front of us In the next 10 years, ucav(s) would be a very important part of developed airforces worldwide.its the future.we gotta key into this technology and reap its benefits.am not sayin' we should go totally unmanned, but we can incoporate the ucav into the system, which would help reduce operational costs. |

Toju200: you're sure u can get me 60 ucav plus the weaponry and you'll spend at least 2mil a day for the cost of weapons they dispense and u think 400mil will be enough.... We've been flying The Alpha jet since the beginning of the war and has lost only one to BHT.. Talk less of the Tucano that will fire laser guided rockets and drop bombs at a safer Distance We have lost alot of alpha jet man.lets say atleast 5. Even a 10 year old knows drones are cheaper to maintain and fly, maybe u haven't checked our fuel costs presently |

Foreign Affairs › Re: Battle Field Discussion (picture/video) Of African Military . by Stormtrooper11(m): 2:58pm On Jun 21, 2020 |
Toju200: arm a drone with rockets and you'll have to fly at a closer range to hit target accurately. You stated with a UCAV you get to Carry out Combat and ISR at the Same,What comes to mind is the Super Tucano Built for COIN operations and has more payload that UCAV.. 12 supertucano we zpent over 400 mil. And the funny thing is we gonna crash atleast 2 within 3 yrs of delivery killing 4 promising pilots.am not being devilish.with that cash i can get over 60 wing loong uav with weaponry save the remaining cash and won't be losing pilots in mishaps |

BlackBaron: Yes, let's buy some $ million drones with tethering and reliability issues because we have' crude oil money'.
Nigeria is better off with MALE drones for reconnaissance and intelligence, a few more helicopters and fixed wing assets than payload restricted UCAV. Besides this is an insurgency not a conventional army like used in Syria or Libya. Great to take out one or two targets, then what happens next?
Strafing runs, multiple hits and so are required dealing with BH convoys. Not your one hit wonders.
Holistic mindset not throwing money at a target is what's required here. Look, drones are even more suitable for COIN warfare than the coventional. With ucavs we could track and take out those bhts in larger numbers.ucavs got a higher service ceiling compared to our gunships and the ucav(s) are 'stealth' compared to our fixed wing aircraft.if u talkin' 'bout drones being too expensive, You gotta understand that presently nigeria airforce is kinda spending much to get little result.e.g.we spend over 5 million bi monthly on fuelling our aircrafts.if we got ucav(s) we don't require to spend much to power them.we could arm the drones with rockets instead of using 'expensive' missiles to take out bht technicals and bases.if u sayin' drones carry limited weaponry;you gotta note that a wing loong uav can take between 10-20 rockets.thats more than our alpha jets and l 39s.so,with a ucav i could have an increased combat range and have the ability to carry out ISR on that ssme platform, instead of spending on different platforms with little results |

Jimi24: The man talked about operational reliability. Getting them to work everyday, day and night. We need to stop thinking like amateurs and start using real thinking. Also, the waiting time for drones from Turkey is +2years, Operational time is maybe 3 years. Nigeria could get something developed within that time frame.
The idea that there is equipment just waiting in a showroom for pickup and ready to drive the next day, that's another annoying fantasy that amateur defence commentators yammer about. If u talkin' 'bout time frame;we could get atleast 20 ucavs from china within 1 year 5 months. You guys keep saying nigeria can develop a drone within 2 years.lol. First,it was amebo and gulma uav(s).now the tsaigumi and they ain't still operational.mind you,we've been talking about these drones since 2012 and they ain't still operational.this show incompetence and unseriousness to end the war and develop the airforce |
