Politics › Re: 6-Year Single Term: Atiku Said Lawmakers Threw Away Baby With Bath Water by Strica(f): 10:29am On Dec 18, 2019 |
LegendHero: Tbh honest bro, I have a different school of thought from what you opined and I will say having a 6-year one term tenure for elected officials will be devastating to Nigeria and we would be more worse than present.
Firstly, the politicians already made it a full-time job to install their successor and they make sure they spend all the state resources for election. Even if a governor won’t be seeking second term, he will still spend a bogus amount to install his successor. Hence we will still have the same problem in terms of spending we are trying to mitigate.
Secondly, the politicians won’t work since they know they don’t need to seek the vote for any second term. They won’t be accountable to anybody and they will loot without honor coz they are sure they will install a successor who won’t bother to probe them. At least the current system will make them do some functional work in their first term hoping for re-election, having a single term system will make them more ineffective than they currently are.
@the bolded, you are right about that. I support that move to pass a 12-year developmental plan that elected officials will follow so that there won’t be a need for several abandoned project and contract duplication.
Nigeria is almost a failed country and it’s not only a systemic change that will salvage the situation. The inhabitants themselves are fantastically corrupt and no matter what policy or structural changes you try to implement, there is 75% chance of failure.
I travelled to Nigeria this December after a long time away from the country and what I saw starting from the airport to present made me conclude that we don’t only have a leadership problem, we also have the follower-ship problem. No matter who lead this country, it’s already designed to fail unless redemption comes in a different way.
Most of the inflation ravaging the country is not majorly caused by the factor of demand and supply or market price increase, people themselves inflate the price of goods for fast monetary gain and they all turn to blame the government. For e.g. taking an ordinary 10min cab from a location cost #600 the first day and the next day I had to take the same distance #4000. I can afford that but what about the common man? This problem of greed is applicable to almost all sectors of the Nigerian economy.
For example, some parents take their children to private centers for exam malpractices, even some private & public schools are not left out such that they have instilled the culture of corruption into their wards right from teen age.
At government owned institutions and even private sector, almost everyone is corrupt such that they will always want a tip no matter what. Everybody is out there to extort you and they are not contented no matter what you do for them.
The politicians already understood the mindset of Nigerians, and the more we keep having this mentality the more suffering we will get from these politicians coz we are all thesame. The people abusing a corrupt politician today are angry coz they are not the one stealing. You're sooo right. I've never left this country but I read a lot, so I have a basis for comparison. I've come to understand, by God's grace, that Nigerians are Nigeria's problem. I, you, my oga at the office, the cleaning lady; all of us who make agreements we fail to keep, try to take advantage of others, disregard contracts and decorum, we all are Nigeria's problem. |

RiyadhGoddess: Uhmmm when I am here praying to God to bless and enlarge my coast so I can buy a portable Jet for my pastor mission. I am begging God to enlarge my resources so I can place pastors on monthly salary, I am begging God to bless me so much that I pay their children school fees, take part in church building projects...
Eni ti o ri mi ri ni o mo se oluwa... I pay my tithe not just 10% but 20% and hoping God gives me the grace and resources to increase it year 2020. I see the result of it all around me. My life is a blessing. My life is a testimony. I will do more and more for God's kingdom. All contributions, donations and assignment towards the house of God or his kingdom projects will not pass me by. Even if it's my 100 naira contribution if I have none at that moment, I will put it. The kingdom of God will not suffer bankruptcy in my own time. It will not lack lailai.
I don't need Nairaland or Twitter or one freeze or social media to validate what I do for God's kingdom. If all you do is to sit and wait for social media validation on what you do for God, then my friend, I put it to you that you do not know God!
Don't come and ask me where it is written in the new testament bla bla bla because I will not answer you. We don't read only new testament in Dominion city, We read both Old and New Testament. We read the whole books of the bible not some parts as some of you want in order to justify your excesses. The book of Malachi 3 verse 10 says, bring all your tithes to the store house that there may be meat in my house. Look at that word Meat in my house. What is that meat? You come into the church, you seat comfortably inside the AC, well furnished and sophisticated building, the sounds and musical instruments on point, the toilet facilities on point, the power supply, diesel or fuel on point, welfare services on point, mission trips and works on point, among many other projects in the house of God. Is it Paper or leaf that they are spending or using to acquire these things? Can any body go to the market and buy diesel or musical instruments or building materials and say I represent this church or I am the pastor or general overseer of this church or it is for God's kingdom give them to us free? Are these things free in the market?
If you have ever had the opportunity to work deeply in the house of God before, to see how the administration of a church is being run or facilitated, then you will know that no be paper or leaf them they spend! Some of you go to the church admin office to submit your business proposals for contracts to supply one thing one thing, did you give it to the church free? When you got the contract to supply or render your services in the church was it free? NO!!! And you sit to type on your phones or systems don't pay tithe don't pay tithe yen yen yen whereas na church dey pay your bills... What of the instrumentalist, it is so hard these days to find someone who will play instruments for free. I know churches even smaller churches who pays their instrumentalist monthly or every Sunday. Why una no say NO I'm not collecting a dime, I am doing it for God. No be money these churches dey pay, Na Paper abi na leaf dem they pay?
What of the welfare? Feeding, clothing and shelter of the needy amongst us in church? Is it not money we use to put these things I'm place?
Because you pay your tithes to the wrong place, you pay your tithe to occultic churches, you pay your tithe to pastors who live lavish reckless lifestyle doesn't mean there are no genuine pastors out there who stands on the word of God only!
Those of us who pay our tithes and see the reward of Malachi 3 verse 10 knows the importance of Tithe in our lives. I am addicted to tithe paying! I pay it everyday. Even when someone gives me 200 naira, I pay tithe from it. I am not ashamed of tithe paying!!!
Malachi 3 verse 10, And prove me now if I will not open the windows of heaven!!! It is not about going out to drop your tithe, No with your tithe in your hand, Prove God First!!!
Malachi 3 verse 10, And this is my favorite part, I will open my window of heavens, I will pour out my blessing that even the room will not be enough to receive it JESUS! God said prove me and see if I will not open my window of heavens and pour out my blessings so much that even that our small cubicle room will be too small to receive his blessings on us.
Do I have a witness here? I am number ONE!!! Why should I allow somebody beliefs or opinion on tithe ruin or stop God's Blessings on my life? Why should I?
The blessings received from tithe paying are numerous aside financial blessings. What of the blessings of protection from evil of all kinds, what of the blessings of great jobs, contracts, fruit of the wombs, education, unmerited favour, shelter, feeding, Mercy, Grace etc? Are they all by your powers or doings? Do you know your tithes are being recorded in heaven oh ye faithfully stewards?
Pay your tithe at the right place and enjoy the blessings of Malachi 3 verse 10. Do not confuse giving charity as tithe paying. Do not let Satan fool you on that. They are two different things. I give to charity and I pay my tithe. Charity is charity (welfare), Tithe is tithe! No be the same. Don't get it twisted!
Are you the owner of the money? Did you come to this earth with money? Will you leave the earth with money? Every time my money my money my money WHO GAVE YOU THE MONEY MEHN? If people own money why don't they carry their money with them when leaving the earth?
Since the devil launched a social media campaign on tithe paying, has the church closed? Lols instead it keeps moving on day by day. Sincerely, I am amazed by the numbers of people who pays their tithe in the church despite all the satanic campaigns. It only shows where the devil belongs. He's always on the loosing side. He's a looser!!!
God bless everyone who pays their tithe in their various local churches. Thank you for paying your tithe. The Church Is Marching On...
In Dominion City, We pay our tithe. I pay my tithe, Pay your tithe!!!
Thank you and God Bless You... The glaring conclusion one comes to after considering this issue: those pushing against tithe paying know who they work for; many who support them do not even believe in God, divinity or the spiritual realm in this first place. So, this remains: they who know their God shall be strong and do exploits. |

Being a feminist basically means being an advocate for the belief that women should have the same rights and opportunities as men.
How does the above stop the woman in question from engaging in sexual relationship with men?
The trolling is justified if she's a proven man-hater (misandrist). Even at that, you can't be too sure if the pregnancy wasn't a product of artificial insemination.

BlackAfrican: Hello all.
The best legacy Buhari can leave behind in the fight against corruption is to put a machinery in place that will see to it that the death penalty for corrupt public officials is passed into law.
One way to ensure it gets support is to let everyone know that the law, when passed into law, won't be retroactive. That is, it will only apply to corrupt crimes committed from the day the bill is signed into law.
This is the best time to get this done because Buhari enjoys the support of the legislature this time, so I see no stumbling block.
If Buhari refuses to take the initiative, we as citizens can take it. Let's organise ourselves, raise funds, find and sponsor the bill through a willing legislator and put pressure on all elected legislators from our different localities to ensure this comes into law..
Let us organise ourselves. We youths are too disorganized and divided that's why we can't achieve anything other than making noise on sm and expecting the government to act.
If we organise ourselves we can pull this off. I'm ready to join the movement to see that this becomes a reality.
Like and share this post if you support the idea.
I'll contact all those who quote and share the post so we can plan how to get this done.
Thanks all. If you're not a terrorist hunter in disguise, I'll be watching your moniker for updates. |

olaolaking: There are different faces o.
I picked a boy from the beach. He was close to 13. After staying a week in my house. I decided to register him in government school. I snapped his passport and gave it to our health insurance so that he can be one of the beneficiaries. I paid for 12 passports for him at a price above what it used to be.
But something told me - All the story that this guy told you will change if something happens o. I went to the nearest police station. To tell them about the boy and my plan to foster him. The police told me it is not what they can handle but they told me to go to welfare at the nearest local government office.
The woman I met after explaining to her told the boy to go outside and wait for us. The woman told. Oga, I am a woman and I have my own children. I can tell you from our experience that this boy is 90% not innocent. With our experience here. I just want to give him benefit of doubt. But he is likely to be lying.
She then directed us to Alakara police station at Mushin as that is the place where Lagos state have departments for such cases..
At Mushin, they started attacking the guy immediately I explained to them. I decided to ignore their treatment because I assumed they have been in the business and they know what they were doing. But at a point I also felt sorry for the boy and began to pity him. The conclusion was that I should take the guy home while they fixed a date for us to come back for them to start investigation to confirm if the guy was saying the truth.
That was all o. The guy run away till today. That was 2017 we recently dashed out the designer clothes we bought for him. Oga even me I wud b tempted to run o. they hadn't even confirmed if he had a case and they already pounced on him in that manner, ahn ahn. don't you know how the mind of an abused child works? fear. fear often dictates their action. I'm not saying he must have been innocent; what I'm saying is that there's a huge chance that he ran not because of fear of his lawful apprehension but fear of the opposite. |

Useful1: I share same sentiment with you on this very matter. Our leaders will rather make it a tribal matter instead of a concerted effort to exterminate a monster threatening the whole nation. I'm afraid you do not get my point. Our leaders were not imported, they're Nigerians from Nigeria. WE, you and I, the lady/guy next to you, everyone who has remained silent and passive, who has refused to do right by Nigeria (the country and her image) are responsible for where we are as a nation. When you deliver poor quality work for premium price, you propagate the negative Nigeria narrative; when you make choices based on ethnicity or tribe and selfish interest instead of competence and integrity, you propagate the negative Nigeria narrative. These are but few examples. Until we become honest as individuals and unselfish as a people, I'm afraid the Nigeria we seek is a long way off. |
