I'm not sure you read the report above carefully well. The said Senator didn't steal the 30b, he questioned its whereabouts. By the way the man's house (based on the pictures above) appear to be a humble home, unlike the rest who live in extremely luxurious edifices.

Politics / Re: Udom Emmanuel Inaugurates, Urua Nka, $45m International Market In Akwa Ibom by StudentsNG: 3:37pm On Jun 20, 2018
BEAUTIFUL NONSENSE!

Proposed investment of $45,000,000 x 360 = N16,200,000,000.
Population of Akwa Ibom State: 5.451m (2016).
Combined Population of Eket Senatorial District: 364,489
Per capita of this investment: N44,445.78

Note: Eket Senatorial Zone Include the whole of: Okon, Nsit Ubium,Idua, Afaha Eket and Esit Eket LGAs.

If the government invest this amount 'carefully' into business development and commercial expansion of the state, it would be a welcome idea as it would have a trickle down effect on the rest of the population and generations unborn, but would this amount truly be used for the proposed project? And if yes, to build just a market place? I doubt if this is justifiable of such a huge sum!

I understand that Eket is the second largest city in Akwa Ibom State, but the Eket metropol is sitting on a mere 215 km² and has less viability for a market of this scale (if at all it will be done as promised). The only major road trailing this mini city is the Oron-Ikot Abasi road!

“This is just the first investment that will come to Eket, a lot more projects will be done in Eket Senatorial Districts,” he said... He assured the people that before the expiration of his tenure in 2023, Eket would become the` little London’ in Akwa Ibom.

^^
Nonsense!

The attempt to justify this project as the only investment to come to Eket undermines the efficiency lens of analyzing where a project is best suited. Makes me believe that this move is more political, than it is growth oriented. Why not make Eket a "Big Eket" or good and viable enough before attempting to compare it to "little London"? Our politicians keep deceiving their people!

Governance in Nigeria is bereaved of professionalism and management. I served in Akwa Ibom state and I can say that the average Akwa Ibomite is hardworking but they lack opportunities. The last administration did a lot in area of infrastructural development (roads, hospital, entertainment, and I would think partly education - I personally used the e-Libry a few times and its a good project if maintained). A new useful and reasonable government in that state should take to industrialization, encourage external investment and guarantee a mix of Nigerians within the state. For now Akwa Ibomites live in Akwa Ibom, so remove the name "International" from the proposed market.

“The building will have ground floor, first floor and second floor.”

^^

How many Akwa Ibomites are ready to afford such renting considering the foreseeable low patronage due to location and the population? Do an open market for your people first, and make sure they are useful - then expand when need arise. Don't go climbing to the apex when its undesirable. That way you can split the money between the three zones - Eket, Uyo and Oron (or wherever else need be). Let each of these zones have a market that serve local needs first!

Channel resources to providing SME funding for many of the youths with handwork, build a system that is self-funded and can provide the basic local needs of the people. Get the FG to have a working access road between Akwa Ibom and Abia, Cross River and Rivers; not a road that is seasonal - whoever have taken the connecting roads in rainy season will understand my point. Invest in Marine, a lot of the people in Akwa Ibom make their living from the water bodies in Oron, Ikot Ubiam, Ibiono, etc (I hope I got the spellings right?).

Over all, developmental stride and PPP are welcome, if genuinely executed. I am not commenting to fault a government, I have no business there apart from being a concerned Nigerian!

Politics / Salary: A Nigerian Senator Vs An Average Nigerian by StudentsNG: 5:38pm On Jun 13, 2018
FICTION: [s]A Nigerian Senator earns N10,000,000 salary monthly.[/s]

FACTS:

The official salary of a Nigerian Senator is about $2,000USD (Approx. N720,000) per month. However, there is an unjustified $37,500 (Approx. N13,500,000) additional monthly entitlement to each Senator (monthly total of: N14,220,000). This additional $37,500 is said to be used to 'run' the senator's office. While I'm not sure what is being 'run' with such lump-sum, I think it is good for us to know what their official take home is and how they compare with an average Nigerian.

MY FINDINGS:

- A senator's income (including expenses) is about ₦156,009,000 per year. It would take a Senator 61 MINUTES to receive what minimum wage income earner earns in 1 MONTH (before tax).

- With N18,000 minimum wage monthly salary, it would take a Nigerian approximately 722 YEARS and 3 MONTHS to earn a senator's ANNUAL income (including expenses). So a minimum wage Nigerian would need to have worked continuously from the year 1296 until now to receive what a senator does in ONE year.

- A senator's monthly income could buy about 694 bags of Mama Pride Premium Rice (50kg) while a minimum wage earner would need to borrow additional N2,500 to be able to afford 1 bag!

THE MESSAGE

While it is important to point fingers at our President, Governors, Pastors, etc., let us not forget that the change we seek should start with the Senators. They make laws, they ideally represent (or at least should) interests of the masses and if they take this amount home without worries, there is every reason to believe that majority of them are there for their private interests. We don't need change in the executive alone, the Law-making Arm also need the whirl-wind come 2019. Begin to route for the best guy to replace your lazy Senator now. If at all they have to take this amount, they should offer justifiable services to the rest of Nigerians! #MyTake

BASIS OF ANALYSIS:

1. Assumption: An average Nigerian is a minimum wage earner.
2. Exchange rates were based on $1USD = N360.
2. Salary Structure: Senator Shehu Sani, March 7, 2018.
3. Cost of 1 Bag of 50kg ama Pride Premium Rice (Jumia Online Store,June 13, 2018).

Business / Innoson Vs Guaranty Trust Bank - A Message For #lazyyouths by StudentsNG: 5:54pm On Jun 11, 2018
Follow Author on Twitter: https://twitter.com/thewilfreds

So many 'youths' for one reason or the other has been trolling the Guaranty Trust Bank of recent. The trend is closely related to media claims that the plentif has been ordered by the Court to pay some lumpsum amount to one of her customers, CEO of Innoson. I write this brief note in full disclaimer that I am in no way connected to, a party to or associate with any of the parties in the lawsuit. However, it is imparative to air my view as a Nigerian youth, especially at a time when people no longer offer rational thoughts or make efforts to clarify online information before trading them. Again I make this post because I am a Nigerian, an Entrepreneur who may some day be in a position or need to borrow from a financial institution in my own country, not limited to GTB. Again, because same bank safeguard my meagre treasury. And once again, because I am Igbo - from where the CEO takes an origin; with a view that what affects one affects others.

History all over the world is littered with instances of debts - people owe banks and banks owe people. Currently, Nigeria as a country is on a debt of about $64USD billion (Obi & Bruce, NABNTV, Tampa, FL., US., 2018). Remember that Nigeria and the Paris Club announced a final agreement for debt relief worth $18 billion and an overall reduction of Nigeria's debt stock by $30 billion. On April 21, 2006 under president Obasanjo, Nigeria's books were cleared of any debt. Ten years later (2017), our government have accumulated another $66USD billion (value in naira? Do your maths: 66,000,000,000 x 360 = ? ). The United States of America owes $145.8 trillion (852% of GDP) debts as at first Quarter of 2014. Surprising? I guess not. The world itself is sitting on a $164 trillion debt (Bloomberg, April 18, 2018). So why all these? To teach you that debt isn't necessarily that strange or such a big stigma - some of you spewing the hate speeches probably owe one or two persons, so why the fuse?

Business is a gamble and that is why at every point in time one party's win is the other's loss. So if Innoson's business deals with GTBank has gone wrong, let the duo sort their matters and save the public of biased reporting, name-calling and social media fights. Our country is filled with enough tribal and regional hatred already to worry about two giants like GTB and Innoson!

I read a post on Facebook of someone preaching that friends and families should close their vaults at GTBank as soon as they can. According to the writer, he is worried that the bank might go broke and insolvent if it pays N12bn as allegedly ordered by the court. As expected that post got many shares, likes and thorns of comments with many #LazyYouths applauding the poster, while the rest shared mockery unequally between Innoson and the bank. What nonesense!

Such thoughts that GTBank will go broke if it has to pay out N12bn is laughable, and goes to show how shallow some of our youths think. Why not take a look at the bank's profile below? How can a bank with N3.16 Trillion Assets (as at 2016) turn insolvent by spending N12bn for a deal gone wrong?

Guaranty Trust Bank Financial Profile:

Revenue ₦ 278.5 billion (2014)
Operating income: ₦ 210.8 billion (2014)
Net income: ₦ 98.7 billion (2014)
Total assets: ₦ 3.16Trillion (2016)

Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guaranty_Trust_Bank

NB: I saw a GTBank financial statement here (https://quotes.wsj.com/NG/GTB/financials). I am not sure how authentic that is, but its worth taking a look at.

This post is a call on our youths to not only use their head but also visit GIYF.COM before rushing to argue on topics. Whatever might have gone wrong between those having court case is their case, and even if we have to meddle in, we can do so intelligently, constructively and with reasoning, without reducing anyone or bowing to tribal sentiments. Over all, whoever owes who should settle debts with whoever is owed.

For God’s sake what would be his capacity or contribution as a patron? Is it in terms of advise or funding?

I had my banner adverts for data analysis scattered all over UNIUYO campus and within months I had a female student friend who liked me very much, she became my partner. She uses her popularity on campus to get students who want to have their projects analyzed. We charge them and handle the whole of their chapter 4. Money from this alone is bigger than the monthly allowance x4. Find something you can do and create a market for it and you won’t have problem saving your allowance.

Again make sure no pretty girl is somewhere dipping hands into your pocket. I know of a female kopa that was able to save her allowance by following other guys to spend theirs. Don’t let girls deceive you. Make your resolutions and stand on it.

Business / Re: Why Dangote Closed His Tomato Factory And Lessons You Can Learn From It by StudentsNG: 6:31pm On May 12, 2018
This is NOT a big lesson for Dangote as he only need to wait a few months for farmers to respond with the produce (his raw material).

It is a RATHER a BIG opportunity for a Nigerians who would venture into Tomato farming with high standards to hit the market before the Italians arrive.

But wait, if Dangote can build the processing plant what stops him from funding a farm alongside? Why bring Italians when we have bunch of Unemployed Agricultural Science Graduates littered here and there? Oh well, they want white collar jobs!

Opinionated:
By Aroms Aigbehi

Spain produces 850 000 mT of raw tomatoes yearly. That is 12% of total European production. That is a lot of tomatoes because the Europeans eat lots of tomatoes. Lots of Nigerians work in the tomato farms in Spain.

They have so much tomatoes in Spain that once a year the Spanish will come together and have a very big tomato fight on the street. They will come with truck loads of tomatoes and people can fight each other with it all day. It is tradition and nobody gets hurt. But when you go to Spain just make sure you stay away from the Bull Run. That one also happens every year but don’t mix them up.

In Nigeria, many brilliant people thought the problem of tomatoes shortage was there wasn’t enough processing power to process the tomatoes produced, and were left to rot. Mr. Aliko Dangote got that information too, so he thought why not build a mega tomato factory to process all that tomatoes?

But he thought lets have a plan B. Lets recruit more farmers to produce tomatoes in case the present capacity was not enough.

As it happened, when the factory was completed the tomatoes available in Nigeria could only run the factory for few weeks and there wasn’t enough tomatoes. The country produce too little. Where are all the tomatoes the Minister said were spoiling in Nigeria due to lack of processing power? Stories.

Now Mr. Dangote is stuck with his tomato processing factory and has called in the Italians to come and build and run a very big tomatoes farm in Nigeria so he can run the processing factory.

This is the problem when people believe in fables and live in a fictional reality.

Hmm. could it have been a spiritual attack on Dangote?

Why do husbands in Africa die most times before wives? A husband in Africa in most cases is under intense tension because he is responsible for:

● *Children school fees*

● *house rents*

● *Electricity bills*

● *Medical bills*

● *Generator fuel & repairs*

● *Car fuel and repairs*

● *Feeding of family*

● *Vigilante bills*

● *Erecting Building*

● *Religious demands*

● *Family social bills*

● *Electronics bills*

● *Recharge cards*

● *Extended family bills*

● *Community demands*

On top of the above, he also faces:

● *Wife stress/insults*

● *Boss stress at work*

● *Police stress on the way*

● *Area boys stress*

● *Kidnappers fear*

● *Friends stress*

● *Economy stress*

● *Fear of job loss*

● *Armed Robbery stress*

● *Children misbehaviour*

● *Neighbours stress*

● *Bank loan payment stress*

● *Enemies stress*

● *Demonic attack stress*

● *Sex stress*

..and so on! OMG!!

Are these reasons not enough for all African Wives to understand and give their husbands peace at home? Are men not trying? How can an African man with these kind of loads be romantic like an American man?
Women, please give your husband's peace at home. Encourage your husbands. Stop being sarcastic to them. Except if you like to join the widows club early! Note:
That club is not funny. Ask members. Help your husband. Contribute to the family. Be a helper. Be submissive. Stop nagging. Build your home and marriage. It is not greener outside there. Don't be deceived!!
Help your husband to live longer like you.
