Career / Re: Should I Quit My 30k Job Or Continue And Hope For A Better Days by StudentsNG: 11:06am On Jan 03
Brilliant recommendations!

4mee:
Dear OP,

You're much more predictable than you think. Your story seems to be a plea for a new job rather than advice. I think you want your request for advice to teach the front page so that you can field job offers.

If that's your intention, I can hardly fault your motives. But your strategy is missing a key ingredient: value.

In your write-up, all you've stated is what you're looking for. So far, it seems the only value ( that you offer your current employer ) is worth 30K.

You're yet to articulate the value anyone would benefit from you when they hire you. Can you bring in revenues worth ten times your expected salary? Do you have skills that can translate into cost savings worth ten times your wages?

Why would any organisation want to hire you? I'll be honest, from my personal experience, most of my HR problems have stemmed from hiring men in their mid thirties who have degrees, not skilled and yet too old to follow instructions from bosses younger than them.

So here's my advice:

First, don't be quick to leave your current job. If you have time, I'll advice you to listen to this conversation about a contract banker earning 70K who quit his job. Learn from his experience what not to do.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-z8Z4dvgE80

Second, what tangible income-earning, revenue-driving, and/or cost savings skills can you acquire in your current job. I came across this conversation aimed at recent graduates on nairaland. If you can patiently listen beyond the first 7-10 minutes, it should provide advice that is relevant to your job situation.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7GHXkCsJ2fc

Third, if you're an engineer, you should be going to conferences: engineering, energy, power, infrastructure and building conferences. That's where you will find new opportunities and meet employers in emerging engineering fields.
Again, here's a video to show how that process could look like.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=68lHaOu2bzc

I know things might seem hard at the moment, but I really wish you the best and hope that things work out well for you.

Cheers.

Yeah, tell Obi I said he should go pick himself, and contest only for them president of Biafra. Nigerians don't give a shit about him or whosoever sent him.

You people are the greatest hypocrites the world has and would ever know. You look the other way, I'm fact, like and share comments, when they're directed at others, but cry blue murder when the favour is returned.

That's why I love what Reno, whom you all worshipped about a year ago, is doing to you people. Cry as much as you like, I couldn't care less.

🤡

It's funny how a suffering maggot like yourself, whose livelihood depend on a meager monthly stipend from APC (or whoever pays you), have self-elevated himself enough to insult a multi billionaire like Mr Obi.

As for me, the business some of us have with Nigeria is for the sake of friends and families that still live there. I don't have case with you and your colleagues.

A man with impeccable record, who did nothing wrong has become an object of shaming and insult. Nigerians don't deserve Peter. I wouldn't contest again if I were him. "Getting" and "Paying-off" ain't the same.

The moment you get a mortgage, the house is yours. So it doesn't take 20yrs to get a house abroad, it takes as soon as you have a good job and credit required to qualify.

armyofone:

It takes more years to pay off mortgage.

Unless you buy a home with cash paid down right away. Most mortgage - 30years but you can pay off early if you have big chunk of money to pay.

To say because she attended Anglican school and as such she could not cheat is flawed.

To say someone somewhere in JAMB may have made a mistake (unknowingly, or otherwise) and maybe pointed the configuration of results to the wrong database, do you mean the mistake was only directed at Mmesoma?

I don’t know if you are aware that before you can print result from the Jamb site, there is a fee and at least Jamb showed evidence from their portal backend that the girl paid the fee June and printed the original result, whereas the fake result she is parading was printed in May

I'd still insist they investigate the matter. You're simply hearing and accepting what JAMB said, how sure are you they're saying the facts? It costs nothing to investigate a matter like this, that's all am saying.
Education / Re: Ejikeme Mmesoma’s Result Is Fake! Nothing To Investigate- Olabisi Deji-Folutile by StudentsNG: 1:50pm On Jul 07, 2023
Many of us Nigerians think without their brain, in fact it seems we replace our "brains" with "tribalism" when judging matters that requires sense. What is not hard to see here, or rather, what is too hard to investigate?

The fact that a young girl, who has been seen as brilliant looking at her precedents, went all the way to report JAMB to her states commissioner for Education, should signal that she was sure she got a result from JAMB. I strongly doubt she would approach the commissioner's office if she was lying.

I grew up in Anambra, and can remember how strict Church schools are over there. This girl attended Anglican Church school. Another sign she couldn't have cheated this much. At least she is assumed innocent until proven guilty.

In my judgement, someone somewhere in JAMB may have made a mistake (unknowingly, or otherwise) and maybe pointed the configuration of results to the wrong database, or something there was improperly configured at some point - when the girl printed her first result. It is also possible that someone got mischievous after hearing that the best result holder got awarded with a scholarship - and attempted to switch things around.

Similar to what INEC has refused to allow/do. The trail logs in JAMB needs to be forensically analysed, to see track changes on the result portal between the time she printed her first result and now. This is where the TRUTH would be found. Not coming to the TV to call her a liar.

Looking back at JAMB's rebuttal, the girl retried the result checking and each time continue to see 249, her insistence on retrying it shows a girl who is not only surprised, but shocked that her results changed without explanation. And before saying she "admitted to have scored 249", ask yourself what you would have done if you found yourself in this situation when you were 19!

Nigerians should stop politicalizing trivial issues. Audit JAMB's server to find the bigger culprit. I'd bet a fortune that this girl is innocent - if only the actual investigation is done.

And for those of you who have turned Nailand to a field for religious and ethnic fight, shame on you. It tells how much you hate and don't care for other children that ain't yours. Forgetting that all man would receive measures, just as they measured to others. #Spits.

Every Nigeria cannot be mad simply because many chose to be unruly and cheap to politicians.

I'm as proud as you are. Stand tall, you've done so well. Simply ignore those that are telling you otherwise.

If you ever need 6k for anything, message me. I might even double or triple it for you.

Elistho:
In the presidential elections, a few others and I were disenfranchised because of unit problems, I went to the polling unit by 7AM, I waited till 5PM but couldn't vote. INEC arrived by 2:30PM after choas that day, I went home tired and frustrated.

Today, I wasn't in my polling unit, I took risk and traveled from my state capital to my location today. The road was so dry, Military everywhere, no public transport, I almost urinated in my cloths at the sight of armed forces men... I waited and luckily saw a bus, I ran to enter, we took a bush track... We were all scared, it wasn't easy this morning...

I arrived my unit, my neighbor asked me if I'm voting PDP, I was shocked, this is someone we both agreed to vote YPP, because he's a better candidate, she had been bought over with money... She directed me on what to do and who to meet to get my 5k there.

I queued, voted and step aside. The police man was bribed, he gave party agents way to stand and look at the votes cast, if it's PDP, they take you to the backyard, write your name and account number, expect 5k while they give you 1k as initial thank you.

I wasn't too shocked, this was the system... I wanted the money so badly, I was even laughed at... Coupled with my suffering today, plus during the presidentials everyone collected except me... Today, I can't boast of a thousand naira but I stood by grounds for the sake of equity and good conscience.

PDP won the unit, with a wide margin.. I was vexed... I came back home, even posted on my WhatsApp, I'm being laughed at, and I began wondering when doing good turned to a thing of mockery now....

I pray God opens a way for me so I can keep closing my eyes when I see money like this, as a student, 6k is way too much in this economy... But we move. On God.

This is me feeling fulfilled knowing I can criticize this governmet for the next four years with good conscience.

PDP will win in Akwa Ibom State as usual, but it's trash. But I know they're people like me, God bless you.

Politics / Re: Obasanjo Seeking Third Term Through Obi, Says PDP Campaign Council by StudentsNG: 2:42pm On Jan 02, 2023
PDP and APC have truly left the issues and started with chasing unnecessary path of lies, in many occassions. This is yet another baseless accusation.

It is important to note that former President Olusegun Obasanjo, like any other citizen, has the right to express his opinions and support the candidate of his choice. However, it is ultimately up to the Nigerian people to decide who they believe is the best candidate to lead the country.

It is unfair to claim that Obasanjo believes he has the power to choose and impose presidents as if Nigeria operates under a monarchical system. It is also untrue to say that he believes only his administration has done well and that he denigrates candidates in favor of his choices. These are baseless accusations with no evidence to support them.

It is important to focus on the issues and policies of the candidates rather than personal attacks and character assassination. Nigerians deserve to make an informed decision based on the vision and platform of each candidate, not on baseless accusations and distractions.

Peter Obi has demonstrated genuine readiness and character to lead Nigeria, and it is important to consider his qualifications and plans for the country rather than getting caught up in political mudslinging. It is time for a new era of progress in Nigeria, and Peter Obi has the vision and leadership to bring about positive change for the people of the country

POWERFUL SPEECH!!!

SpecialAdviser:
It is an honour to return to the City of Kaduna and to participate in the Arewa Joint Committee Interactive Session, and rub minds on some fundamental issues germane to the future of Nigeria.

I thank the leadership and stakeholders of the Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation for their gracious invitation.

I wish to preface my remarks by setting out our mission and vision. We are all Nigerians. I am a Nigerian running for the Nigerian Presidency to serve every Nigerian. I continue to insist on a show of respect for every candidate, ethnicity, religion and person.

The mission and vision of the incoming Obi-Datti Administration is to give full expression to our democracy by moving our country from consumption to production; we shall achieve this by giving primacy to implementing the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Our dear country today has become a shadow of itself. Indeed, there is evidence that Nigeria exhibits two known indices of a failed state; parlous economy and loss of territory and emergence of ungoverned spaces.

The purpose of politics and governance is to generate economic and social progress for the citizens in larger freedom. But the status quo is the reverse. This is more so here in the North, where poverty, unemployment and insecurity are the new normal.

The North has the highest number of out-of-school children in the world. It has highest number of school kidnappings in the world. The North also has the highest number of internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Nigeria.

The vast agricultural lands of the north - the so-called food basket of the nation stand desolate and abandoned. This situation is painful and needs to be fixed. Great nations are built through visionary policies, programmes and projects, anchored on the people.

This was always the hope and wishes for Nigeria by our founding fathers. Sadly, things changed. Our leaders became selfish, myopic and stopped listening and caring for the common man. Bad leadership, divisive rhetoric, and impunity became the norm.

Nigerians have suffered; they have lost jobs, and lost their farms and herds and their trust in our leaders. That narrative must change.

The Nigerian people want solutions to the many problems confronting them. After all economic prosperity for all is an all important aspect of a successful leadership, there is hope. We know this for sure. A new Nigeria is Possible.

But we must return to dreams of our founding fathers to create an egalitarian society. The Nigeria we seek will be a United and Secure Nigeria that symbolizes the spirit, letters, and exhorting ethos of our national anthem – “one nation bound in freedom, peace and unity” where “peace and justice shall reign.” As we seek to come to power in May 2023, we are aware of the daunting array of domestic and external challenges confronting our dear nation, and we are fully prepared to lead from the front.

We are cognizant of the domestic policy challenges that have accumulated over time; and that the lack of adequate public policy responses has made them worse, with a devastating impact on national unity, social cohesion, public trust in government, and economic performance.

We have a grasp of prevailing challenges.

Nigeria’s needs and unmet needs are very huge. Yet hunger, insecurity, poverty and deprivation know no tribe, religion or gender.

With all sense of urgency, we will, pursue aggressively policies programmes and projects to enhance the productivity and competitiveness of all the sectors of the Nigerian economy.

For the North we will do the following:

- a) We will offer immediate and decisive long-lasting and permanent-effect resolution of all security challenges in the North;

-b) Ensure that farmers return to all farmlands for the 2023 farming Season. We will make Nigeria’s arable land in the North her new oil and gold;

-c) As part of our Marshall Plan for Education, we will foster Federal intervention in education at all levels in the North and partnership with State Governments and international organizations in order to improve access to affordable and quality education at all levels;

-d) Ensure very adequate representation in government, equitable appointments especially in the Security and Economic Sectors;

-e) Incentivize the resuscitation of the moribund cotton and textile industries; and full exploration of the cattle economy value chain, notably the $75b global hide and skin economy. Nigeria’s share of the global industry is envisaged to generate over $1bn by 2025;

and finally,

-f) We will ensure very generous deployment and allocation of economic and social projects and infrastructure in the North – with keen attention to Roads, Energy, Power, and Dams- and Solar energy from Sunlight.

In closing, let me say this on record. I have come in peace to develop, to secure, and to unite, and I will do so with every commitment to the growth of Nigeria, as one great and united country.

We shall pay as much attention to the development of the North as to the development of all other parts of the country; but with much greater emphasis on the development of the Agricultural resources.

The North remains where the biggest ad sustainable wealth of this great Nation lies.

If elected President, I shall govern with the fear of God and with all good conscience and intent. The Constitution and the rule of law will always prevail.

I thank you for your kind attention.
May Almighty God bless you all and bless Nigeria.

#PeterObi
