BascoVanVeli: Which recession? Are u saying England doesn't have enough to host a one off world cup? Spain, Italy, France and Germany nko? America would also jump at the opportunity to have the world watching them for a reason not named Donald Trump. Japan were practically ready for an Olympics and they could also do it. Then there is China that would be a story by itself. There would be options.
The world is currently at a recession bro , and would take years to recover
You think paying 80% of its workforce without any income is beans, besides hosting a world cup would cost millions of dollars and there is no guarantee that they would recuperate the amount spent
BascoVanVeli: What doesn't take planning in this life? There are countries that can host a world cup right now (well, obviously not now sha). I already stated my reasons so why are u bringing up money when that was a reason for the thing in the first place.
Every country is in a recession, which country would be able to host the whole world at the moment?
BascoVanVeli: Me thinks the first international tournament post coronavirus should be a world cup. I have 3 reasons.
1. Unity: We have to be united to beat this virus and why not come out of it the same way by hosting a global tournament.
2. Money: Once this is over (and I pray that is soon) the world will be in need of money. What better way to bounce back than the biggest tournament in the world?
3. Avoiding of clashes: With the Euro's and south American tournaments postponed, there will be a cluster during that period, so instead of confederations competing against each other this will be a chance to make much needed money together.
Do you know how much planning, preparation and MONEY that go into a world cup?
World cup is a luxury tournament and besides why would you want to disrupt the four year cycle?
komekn: We are talking football here as if Life in all its dimensions had not changed.
Some of us have been on this platform for years and have created family with strife, tears and yes love. That's how families are.
Covid has brought commercial activity to a standstill. Even for me in the UK I am feeling the pinch.
Although I am feeling the pinch there may be some who are FEELING THE HAMMER. I am under no illusions I am getting calls every day "bros na dye I deh, send money come or na burial u go do for me" How many people can l help so few.
That not withstanding l pray there are none of our family members here, " that have not seen food to eat" that will be very sad.
Some of us come here to escape from the sad stuff going around
TheGoodJoe: I agree. I think the system is a highly defensive one, more like keeping the ball in an offensive setup. However, recently, he has been trying to adjust to force some risky plays. That is why De Bruyne has become a big part of his arsenal to force attacking plays in tight spaces.
But, I agree with the defensive ideology but the high attack formation compensates for it.
Yea De Bruyne is not normal a Pep type of player because he takes high risk, I think he prefers Bernardo Silva
I think that's why he prefers Sterling to Sane because Sterling has learnt to bring the ball into the middle of the park as opposed to Sane who likes to run at the byline
TheGoodJoe: I try to keep my preference aside and align with Pep's philosophy because of how long he put into building his own idea of the game.
It all balls down to control the game when you have the ball by keeping it. Then fight as hard as you can to win the ball back when you lose it. Finally watch for gaps and take advantage of them.
I think Pep's tactics is not even an attacking but a defensive tactics because the opponent cannot hurt you if they don't get the ball and they keep the ball 70% of the time, it also requires patience because it prioritizes keeping the ball instead of making risky passes
TheGoodJoe: Just watched an interesting clip of Guardiola playing in 1997 against PSG. It was interesting watching the reaction of Guardiola and his then I think Assistant coach, Mourinho. Now, unimaginable seeing them react the same way.
It is very important to watch Guardiola play football to know how he PREFERS his football to be played, it seems he likes short passes and only prefers holding possession than risky penetrating passes
ChrisKels: Without mincing words, i will have to say it the way it came across to me, unapologetically, I must tell u this(comparison) is a very stupid idea to conceive. It doesn't belong here and from the outset, it is apparent where the discussion is headed, even with ur so called "no tribal slur" disclaimer
Nigeria winger Henry Onyekuru has revealed he was not keen on a move to French Ligue 1 club, AS Monaco, last summer. Onyekuru joined Monaco on a permanent deal from Everton after impressing during his loan stint at Turkish club Galatasaray.
The 22-year-old struggled for regular playing time and made only four appearances for Monaco before rejoining Galatasaray on loan in January.“I didn’t get a work permit in Everton and my head wasn’t there either. I had no plans to go to Monaco; this was not a planned move,” Onyekuru told SporxEksta.
“I was about to return to Galatasaray after the African Cup, but the Everton sporting director called me and said he had found a new club for me.“They (Everton) were having talks in Turkey; they told me that it was impossible for me to go there on loan twice. “I knew they wanted me to go to Monaco. There was no other choice but to go. I didn’t want to force it, cause a crisis.“I could return to Everton and practice alone and I didn’t want that. It was not my decision to go to Monaco; I wanted to return to Galatasaray.” The former Anderlecht player also opened up on life under Leonardo Jardim. “Things did not go as planned in Monaco. I had problems with Jardim,” he added. “He told me that after my second match, he switched to a system with two strikers and no winger. My normal position, the left wing, was no longer needed. He asked me to keep calm and work.”
