To be sincere, if I have known that GCKey is better, I wouldn't have used the new portal. I thought they said the new portal is better, that is why I used it.

Hello guys, if you are requested to do Biometric and you used the opportunity to do the medical because both are available in the same city, how do one do it? Do one need to send the medical immediately or wait for the ircc to request for it?
I'll appreciate your response.

Hello guys,
If one do medical after submission of application, should someone send a webform to submit the medical receipt, or wait until ircc request for medical?
TravelRe: General Australian Student Visa Enquiries Part 3 by sudo1986: 6:31am On May 08, 2023
I have four publications, but no IELTS. However, they conducted English test called DUELING test for us and I passed. After that was when they invited me for a formal application.

martins2021:
Do you have publication and research experience? What about good score in your IELTS?

Could you list the documents you applied with? If you are on fully funded scholarship, do you have to provide statement of account?

Maranatha5:
No nothing else was requested apart from the normal documents I applied with.
TravelRe: General Australian Student Visa Enquiries Part 3 by sudo1986: 7:39am On May 07, 2023
Who applied to Deakin University, PhD program?
Their own process is not easy to come by. We first submitted an expression of interest. It took like 1 and half months to be processed and assessed. Later the Expression of Interest passed, and invited is to apply for formal application. However, they said that the scholarship isn't guarantee, because every application is going to be compared.
Who has been in this shoe before? Till now, they've not said anything about the formal application.

Funding provided for the PhD students in form of scholarship.

I’m sorry what do u mean by phd funding?
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 22 by sudo1986: 4:05am On May 04, 2023
I think US don't ask for anything statement of account from a full funding student. I actually still don't understand why VOs are doing this. Come to think of it, do you think Canada will give funding to a non-potential student? If they are asking "if questions" while seeing the funding, that means they don't trust the systems. Majority of Canadian universities will never issue admission talk more of funding if they don't see any potential in you. They need to trust the system and keep track of the students.
Furthermore, may be the school should make it a duty to drop out any student that doesn't meet up with their expectation and fails to pay up the necessary dues at the appropriate time. The immigration office will then do the needful.
There are some people that will not even disturb themselves on any scholarship if they have money. However, the funding provided by that person in question was super enough. It's even more than what the IRCC requested for.
I think luck also matters in this journey. God will favour everyone.

bullstriker:
This issue is common with people that come to us with Ph.D. or masters funding. Most people with funding/scholarships assume they have met the financial requirement just by submitting scholarships or funding letters. While this is correct in theory, Vos can ask the ‘what if’ questions, as they know that most scholarship/funding is based on you maintaining satisfactory progress in the program. So, you should add a source of funds or proof of funds; have at least one year of living expenses. Better still, get a sponsor, even if it is a third-party sponsor.

Having funding does not mean that VO will not ‘serve you breakfast’ for insufficient funds, as these funding/scholarships, though available, is only accessible when you meet specific requirements. This time, in addition to proof of funds, mentioned precisely what the funding cover, how much will be provided per period and when it will be disbursed. Suppose you don’t have additional funds or a sponsor. In that case, I recommend you ask for a support letter from your Head of Department, or supervisor addressed to IRCC stating that they GUARANTEED MAXIMUM FINANCIAL SUPPORT for tuition and living expenses and you are a highly deserving student.

Guys, please I have a question. I know someone that has a PhD funding of 34,000 CAD per year. Out of this money, she will pay 12,000 CAD for tuition and other expenses. Also, she will use 14,000 CAD per year for the accommodation and feeding (Quebec). This means she has an excess of 8,000 CAD. She also still show a proof of fund of roughly 11,000 CAD.
However, she was denied visa. After she requested for the gcmc or whatever that thing is, one of the reasons is inadequate of fund. Please, does this make any sense?
Though he isn't in Nigeria. That means he applied from abroad.

What could be the reason for saying inadequate of fund with all these excesses?

You are right. However, aside that I may not meet up with the time for medical, is there any other implications for doing the two at the same time?

zubizareta:
Ohk. If you say so. But they don't joke with time here as well. The only way you can meet up there is if the crowd there isn't much. It's the crowd here that makes it stressful and a whole day event.
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 22 by sudo1986: 7:44pm On May 03, 2023
Both activities would take place in the same city that is different from mine. It's 7hrs train from my province to the province by fast train. It's not possible to go in different days. It is not economical at all. Aside that one may not meet up because of the time, is there any other implication?

tenderjunkie:
Why would you fix it the same day?
What happened to fixing them on different days?

Well after the medicals IOM will send you the result and IRCC as well. However, you should still update IRCC via webform
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 22 by sudo1986: 6:31pm On May 03, 2023
I am not in Nigeria. It is possible here, unless if they don't follow tge time specific on their website. They don't joke with their time here.

zubizareta:
Don't know about ABJ but if it's in Lagos, you will certainly not meet up with that medical. I advise you reschedule the medical to next day if possible.
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 22 by sudo1986: 6:12pm On May 03, 2023
Hello guys. I fixed my Biometric and Medical to the same day. Biometric is 8:30am, and Medical is 10:30am.
My question is, I hope this can't cause any issue. Secondly, after the medical, should I wait until the IRCC requests for it and then message the clinic to send the medical or I should send it to them through the web-form?
Someone should orientate me please.

Actually I am about to putnin my application. I will just apply and rely on God.

Nger88:
Bro, can I relate to you? I want to put in an application from outside Nigeria. I am worried about the denial due to home ties. Please, I will send you a message. I just needed some guidance. Thanks
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 22 by sudo1986: 8:25am On May 02, 2023
I am not in Nigeria though. However, I'll see what to do to it sha

zubizareta:
Doesn't work that smooth. Due to the pressure and high volume of appointments, most people get medical appointments dates a month after they book medical appointments. Currently no space in May foe appointments booking for IOM and Qlife.

Best bet is , you book your medical first and get a date, then submit your application(usually if you are lucky, you get a mail the next few days to book appointment for biometrics). So you can submit your application a week before your medical appointment date. But it's still all under probability for dates to be close
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 22 by sudo1986: 6:10am On May 02, 2023
I love this response, very apt.
Thank you very much. I think the best thing to do is to book for medical once a request of biometrics is made. Then, I can fix the biometrics a day before the medical. Na to go sleep the airport after biometrics be that.

Thank you very much.

zubizareta:
There are no implications if you do same period that's if you are lucky to have both fall on same day. When you book your medicals, they will give you a date, then if you submit your application, and you are lucky to fix your biometrics same period then you do both within same period. You will not be able to do medical and biometrics same day. Each activity takes almost the whole day.
If you do the upfront medical before you submit application then you can attach the medical slip that will be given to you on the day of medical to your application.

However, if you do medical after you have submitted, when you get a medical request, you just send mail to the medical centre to submit your result to irrc attaching the medical request gotten from irrc. With that they will forward your result.
You can also follow up by sending the medical slip you had all this while via web form to irrc directly.
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 22 by sudo1986: 4:50am On May 02, 2023
Thank you very much for your response. I heard if they requested medical from you, they'll give you a letter to be presented at the hospital. However, what if the state you want to go and do both biometrics and medication is very far, and you plan to do the two at the same day, is there any consequences?

What if they request for biometrics and you did your medical immediately after biometrics without them requesting for it, do you have to send them the medical details immediately or wait for them to request for it?

Please could you explain the implications of doing the two in the same day or do medical after submission of form and without them requesting for it?

Anyone can answer please!!!

Thanks

zubizareta:
Upfront medical is when you do medical before a medical request from irrc. It could be done before you submit your application or after you have submitted as long as it was done before irrc requested for a medical from you.

Hello guys, I have a question.
What if I don't have any work in Nigeria, and I am going to use my wife and son as my home tie, will I be able to bring my wife through Open Work Permit latter?
I actually stated in my SOP under the home ties that I have a wife, son, and landed a property.

Hope this wouldn't be a reg flag for her when I want to bring her through SOWP.

I am going on a fully funded PhD program though.
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 22 by sudo1986: 12:37am On May 02, 2023
I am confused here bro. You did medical after Biometric, and you still call it upfront medical. How did you submit it if they've not requested for it and you did it. Kindly share more light.

Hello guys, I want to ask a question.
In the home ties I claimed that my wife and Son are in Nigeria, and my wife managing our business. Also, one of my lecturers in the school that I do collaborate with through resesrch gave me a letter that stated "I will return to his pab immediately after my PhD program to take up a postdoc position, and subsequently apply for a faculty position in the school."
These are really my home ties. However, I plan yo start my wife's SOWP after two months I get to Canada.
Will this affect her application, even though she will not include our son? Also, did I state enough home ties?

Someone should please give me a clue.

Hello guys, does this make any sense?
This is how someone plans to show POF. She doesn't have any statement of account.
Can she use it this way?

Thanks in advance.

TravelRe: Canada Spouse Open Work Permit (sowp)timeline by sudo1986: 1:19am On Apr 12, 2023
Hello all,
I am in a kind of situation that I don't know what to do.
I am currently doing my PhD in China, and my wife joined me here on March 1.
My professor just resigned last year October, and God helped me to secure a full funding PhD program in Canada. The funding is 20,000 CAD per year, and tuition and all other expenses including insurance is 10,000 CAD. I am left with 10,000 CAD per year.
The issue now is that all my colleagues that applied to Canada from China were all rejected, even with full funding, and they all provided at least 3 million balance on their account statement.

All of them went back to Nigeria to reapply, and they all got it.

This is where I have problem.
1. I want to apply for the visa with my wife, and I don't know the possibility of getting it because I only have a landed property in Nigeria. No parents, no job, and all my siblings are married. Many of them don't even have birth cert. I only have a son staying with my in-laws

2. I don't have any huge amount to show as a proof of fund. I only want to look for 4,000 CAD for my wife as required by the IRCC

3. I can't go back to Nigeria to apply, because I don't even have such money for the two of us.

4. I don't know if it is compulsory for me to apply for the visa without account statement if I want to apply alone.

Thank you all.
TravelRe: General Australian Student Visa Enquiries Part 3 by sudo1986: 4:12am On Apr 10, 2023
Thank you very much for your response. The problem with Canada is the home tie ish. I don't have any work back home, and I don't have any property. Even, I don't have parent, and all my siblings are married. Furthermore, even if you are on full funding in Canada, you'll still need to provide a statement of account for yourself in which I do not have.
Furthermore, I am presently doing my PhD in China on CSC scholarship, but there is no prospect after the program, hence I am moving out. Also, my prof here just moved away from the school I am presently doing my PhD program.
My wife is also with me, and she just came in March. We have been separated since 2019 that I left for my Masters in China. This is the reason I have to move to anywhere I am going from here. However, the chances that Canada will reject the visa is high, especially if you are not applying from your home country. This is why I am Waiting for Australia to do well.

As for Australia, I heard it is more easier to go with your spouse than Canada. I just need to buy her Insurance. If there is no need to present account statement, I guess it is better to pursue Australia than Canada.
That is why I am reaching out to know the situation of Australia.

Thanks once again.

Fredozki:
1. To the best of my knowledge, presenting an account statement is not mandatory once you have a full scholarship. I did not present any account statement although am going alone.

2. Most PhD scholarships will only provide single OSHC for the scholarship recipient this means that you need to pay for your spouse’s OSHC by yourself. Each school has their preferred health insurance provider please confirm this from your school at the appropriate time.

Alternatively you can go first and invite your spouse after some months.

Why not proceed with Canada since you already have a fully funded offer.

Please I have a question. I have also applied for admission for a PhD in Information Technology. However, I have the following questions:
1. I want to go with my wife. Do I need to provide any account statements? Though I applied for a full scholarship, which I pray it comes out successfully.
2. Do I need to pay for my wife's insurance? If yes, it's like how much?

The most important question is the account statement. I have a fully funded PhD admission in Canada, but I am still contemplating because of all these account statements and home ties issue.

Fredozki:
Visa granted 7th April

Submitted on the 17th of Feb
Biometrics done on 20th Feb
Medicals, 6th March
Start Date, 29th May
Fully funded PhD scholarship, UNSW Sydney.

Glory to God.
