Growingboi: Thank you for the response. As per d referee, I dont have up to three persons as ECSA registered member. During my thesis, the requirement of a mentor was also ECSA bt my mentor was a Nigerian with a COREN without ECSA n my thesis was well accepted, dat is d reason i asked the question.
How do I start the registration process from here? dont be angry for the disturbance o ejoorr! then you can go with coren..... it just that at time ECSA can be difficult..... just download the application forms and the requirements, when you are done completing, you can courier it to 2 Ernest Oppenheimer Ave, Bruma, Johannesburg, 2198, South Africa |

Growingboi: Hello Sultan003 and the entire NL, i have some questions bothering me on the ECSA registration. i hold a Btech from a SA uni, from all the info gather so far i understand am to apply for a professional engineering tech haven been working for four years plus with a multinational coy in manufacturing sector in Nigeria.
Do I need to be in SA again before i can apply? if NO how do i start the registration in Nigeria Can a referee with COREN/NSE be considered in place of Registered ECSA?
Thank you for the anticipated response.
Cc: femiaction No you don't need to be in SA to apply, except when they call you for an interview and all that. yes, you are eligible to be registered as a PrEng Tech, especially if you are able to defend your work experience. I think in the form it states that someone registeredin with ECSA must act as your referee, so it is better to follow that than gamble |

I was the one who notified the room of my admission to UKZN for LLM degree in Law, I have gotten all the necessary requirements for visa application EXCEPT for the proof of residence. Please I need an urgent help from anyone who stays in Durban to assist me with the letter of accommodation.... I don't have the plan of staying with the person AT ALL, I've been trying to make some private arrangements on where I'll stay, but for the purpose of visa application, kindly help with a Letter of Accommodation.
Most grateful for the assistance. when I processed mine years ago, stellenbosch sent me a letter of accommodation that I used for visa processing. maybe ukzn can help? otherwise make private arrangements |

yinksob002: Any amount from 450k upwards will be fine. However, it is equally important to ensure that your account has a good turnover too (i.e Funds come in and go out). For a visitors visa, you need the following docs:
1) International passport 2) Completed visa application form with two passport photographs (White background) 3) Yellow card 4) Letter of Introduction from employer or Self letter of introduction if you are self employed 5) Bank Statement 6) Pay slips 7) Valid hotel booking
Flight reservation 9) Visa application fees 10)Copy of work ID card You can also include any other supporting documents you have (if any) to boost your chances. All the best. apart from cash flow, the minimum required is R3000 or its equivalent in naira.... 450k is over the top |

Shine1177: To our brothers and sisters in South Africa, please let us be careful when walking alone on the street, especially in the night. Today, after our Mid-week Communion Service at about 7:45pm I was attacked by three (3) street boys few metres from church. They initially begged me for money which i decline, the next thing, one of them drag my shirt and brought out a knife to stab me while he spoke Zulu to the rest to search me. I pushed him off and started barking at them, so they took off. There was no loss of property nor harm on me. I thank God.
This is the second attack since i came here. Durban to be precise. Few months ago, I went to withdraw at Standard bank ATM in front of my campus where I fell to card swap scam (i don't know how), something that I never experience all my life in Nigeria. I lost R1700 in that incident, it was later I learnt that those devils prowl at all ATM with less traffic. After that incidence, some Nigerians started telling stories of how they lost money, some R4000 etc. at the same machine to those bad boys. If they had shared their experiences before, I wouldn't have fall a victim. I hope this will guide a brother or sister out there. it is risky to fight these guys while they are trying to mug you, they can kill and won't think twice..... once it is 7pm i don't think it is safe to walk alone in some places |

Shine1177: I don't know how to go about the foreign qualification evaluation with ECSA after I have done SAQA evaluation. Is this necessary? Though I sent them a mail yesterday, I'm still expecting their reply.
A faculty (Nigerian) here told me that I can use SAIEE but I opted for Student membership hoping to upgrade after my graduation next year. My question is; can i use the SAIEE student member certificate to apply for CSV? I have two conference paper to attach to my application. I need to get it before December because I missed two job opportunities because I don't have a work permit and my HOD just promised to give me a full-time contract to lecture two undergraduate class come January. you need to do foreign qualifications evaluation with ecsa first, you can get the form online.. ECSA doesn't take into consideration what Saqa says. applyin with student membership is risky, student membership doesn't confirm any skills. Ecsa registration process when I did mine took 5months to complete from evaluation to registration, but since you want to apply for CSV soon, I suggest that you submit your application to ecsa soon and personally, so that you can tell them to also give you a letter of proof that you have applied for registration, then with the letter, your saqa and also a letter writing by your school preferably your HOD confirming your skills, you can now apply to DHA. the reason I said personally, is attimes ecsa wont reply emails and if you call them, you will get call tomorrow, call on friday from them |

Shine1177: Thanks, Sultan003. I'm about registering with ECSA while my SAIEE student member registration should be approve on 15/09. Do you think i can use SAIEE student member to apply for CS Visa? For ECSA, I intend to apply as Candidate Technologist then upgrade after my program at DUT, but considering your input, it seems i will have to go for Candidate Technician now. have you done the foreign qualifications evaluation with ecsa? it is after that, that they will tell you the category to register for. that is assuming that your bachelors degree is from nigeria. student membership from SAIIE didn't help me with ECSA, but you should try and see what happens. |

Shine1177: Check page 157 someone just got CS visa. I know he has only HND (Mech. Eng.) and he got a 5 year Critical Skill visa in Lagos. I don't think Phd is the only criteria. That guy was given a Technician grade which is below what will be given a Master/Phd holder. #MyThought there are skills/occupations/qualifications listed on the critical skills list that if one falls within the category he or she is eligible to apply for the critical skills visa.. to explain the technician grad stuff, nigerian universities are not signatories to the Washington and syndey accord, so if you want to be a member of engineering councils in for example south africa or new zealand with your nigerian b.eng, meng or phd, you will be registered as a technician instead of an engineer. so with the registration, the CSV will be written "to work as a ......... technican" one can upgrade by studying in that country and then apply for a review when done |

elnino2015: Hello House,
I am a graduate of Electrical/Electronic Engineering. I recently had my Certificates evaluated by SAQA and got an NQF Level 8. I graduated with a Second Class Upper degree, a good one at that. I tried applying for a Masters by Research degree at the University of Pretoria,to my utmost surprise I was asked by the Admissions officer of the department of Electrical Engrg, UP to enrol for their Honours program and that I wasn't qualified to be admitted for Masters directly. I was so surprised and furious, and sent her a mail telling her of my grades and SAQA evaluation but she reaffirmed that UP can only admit me for Honours.
It's really annoying! I can't imagine myself enrolling for a South African Honours degree after spending 5 solid years to get my Bachelor of Engineering degree in Nigeria.
Please guys I need suggestions on reputable schools in SA where I can do a Research Masters degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
Thanks in anticipation. schools like up and stellenbosch do not care what saqa says, I suggest u look for other schools like wits for example. because it will be a waste of money and time to do honours again, when you already have it. With your bachelors degree honours in engineering, you are already at the same level with a south african honours degree....*From experience* |
Travel › Re: General South Africa Visa Enquiries by sultan003(m): 8:36am On Jul 29, 2015 |
yinksob002: You can try WITS cos you have a strong chance of being selected since you have a 2.1 and good SAQA rating. Besides, WITS is one of SA's best schools in terms of academic standard and are not too rigid in decision making. I am currently running my masters programme here and the experience so far has been great. All the best there is nothing like a good saqa rating.... they just rate according to the national qualifications framework... example bsc is rated 7, hons 8, masters 9 then phd is the highest 10. |

bigerboy200: u obviously don't know the constitutional role of d DSS. what's the business of EFCC with someone who is having loads of high caliber assault weapons, seven high calibre rifles, several magazines and military related gears? is he a mobile army barracks?? even as a retired service man there is a reasonable limit. As for the exotic cars,EFCC should see to that....If he is innocent, he should go clear his name in the court of law.. simple.. I was raising an issue with the cars and the fault DSS found with it As per the high caliber weapons, I don't know anything about Nigerian gun laws and all that, but if we have, and he has contravened then he should face the law.. Dss shouldn't be tellin us that he has a number of cars as if there is a limit to what an individual can own. if they go to babangiga's house, am sure they will find a lot of cars and high caliber weapons. Dasuki is not the first person in nigeria to own high caliber weapons. this weapons sef, is it nuclear weapons, anti-tank weapons, ICBMs etc? |

HungerBAD: 12 Cars? 5 Bullet Proof? if anybody comes here to defend this man again, i will use the juju we worship in my Village called *Ogologololo* to swear for him/her.
I have repeatedly said that, PDP took corruption to a new level by even the most corrupt level anywhere in the world. I am very certain those bullet proof cars would have landed in the Arsenal of Boko Haram, to cause more mayhem. This Government is treating this man, Dasuki Sambo with pampered hands.
This man should be hanged, by those SARS operatives, and be made to squeal. And the reason for his arrest? threat to National Security. There is a car company in the US(Texas Armoring Corporation) that i subscribed to on my Facebook account, just to get updates on their latest products. This company only builds Bullet Proof Cars, and so i am very familiar with how much one cost.
Then to have 5? when you are not even the President, not a Governor, not a serving General, simply means to cars were gotten for some ulterior motives. How many Bullet proof cars did Goodluck Jonathan have in his personal convoy then? it is official now, President Goodluck Jonathan was really CLUELESS with what was happening in his Government.
Good Job Mr. President.
Good Job the DSS.
Good Job the people of Nigeria. please is there a law limiting the number of cars an individual is allowed to own? same applies to the bulletproof cars. if he did not buy it with his money, efcc should be the one telling us why they haven't arrested him. this is clearly witch hunting, tell us what the man did wrong, supported by the law simple. |

utumunta: If there was nothing, now they have enough evidence to investigate him further and subsequently prosecute him.
1. What was he doing with $40,000 cash at home? Is his home a bank? How did he come about the money?
2. Who owns the nine(9) cars found in his residence. Their prices should be compared with his salary and if he cannot afford them, they should ask how he came about them. He should be prosecuted after thorough investigation.
This is impunity and we expect the DSS to do the needful. EFCC too should come in here. The days of impunity are over!
Some poverty-stricken youth, that thinks he is a member/supporter of PDP/GEJ, whose family have never touched or seen $40,000 or owned 9 cars collectively would come here to defend this man that keeps $40,000 cash and 9 cars at home. I weep for my country. wait! for the money part, is there a rule saying that it is illegal to keep money at home? if dasuki has a reasonable explanation on how he made $40,000 then so be it, if not he should be arrested, but no he wasn't arrested and efcc didn't come for him |
