I disagree with you nwanne. The content of that video is shameful and very embarrassing. Austin Ndigwe is a man without conscience from his days at Union Secondary School Awkunanaw Enugu, same period as Osita Chidoka. This guy stole peoples properties, stole goats and sold at gariki Enugu, became a local govt chairman in the 90s and fleeced his Awka people, his character and association with Arthur Eze tells a lot about the person of Arthur Eze. These are not men to be trusted. How did Austin Ndigwe end up as the Igwe of Awka!!!?? This is alu...sacrilege.

I disagree that Igwe’s can not be called out. Tufiakwa. If we had a governor as vindictive and strategic as Ganduje or El Rufai, these men..Arthur Eze and Austin Ndigwe would be dealt with.

These people should stop embarrassing Igbos. Sadly Arthur Eze and Austin Ndigwe don’t know the meaning of shames. They won’t be ruffled by the viral nature of these videos.

Chukwu ekwena ife ojoo.
He is actually not recognised as the uzu awka by the government... so i wonder in what capacity he was acting

HealthRe: Doctors To Embark On Nationwide Strike Over NUC’s PhD Directive by sultan003(m): 8:49pm On Feb 17, 2020
This issue is very complex, currently, with fellowship a medical doctor is appointed as a Lecturer one in Nigerian universities, while in engineering for example with phd and coren one is appointed as a lecturer one.. if you take a look at the guidelines for appointments and promotions in most Nigerian universities, MBBS and MSc are the same, while FWACS and co and PhD are the same...
But the issue is that most clinical departments in nigerian universities now want to run an academic postgraduate programme i.e Msc and PhD different from the residency program and this is where the issue starts because to supervise a PhD, one must have a Phd, maybe that is what NUC is trying to solve in line with the best practice obtainable..
Teaching and research are two different areas

Please read more about this things.
Over the years, what other countries do and I feel it can be done in Nigeria is incorporating the residency training with an Academic training such that after first two years in the residency training and having satisfied the examiners to move on to be a Senior registrar, you defend a MSc and after your part 2 to become a Consultant which is 3-4 years, you defend a phD and be awarded a MD degree. Most countries adopt this to blend the problem.
South Africa does this

You can't be a professor without a PhD. Professor Ozoilo definitely has a PhD. However, some members don't. Graduate assistants don't have PhDs for instance. Insisting no one can lecture without a PhD was over reaching by the NUC.

. Good contribution..... some even spend 10 years as Readers while some in good book of the management will quickly become profs...However by the time you become a prof you will get your allowance backdated to the date you became a professor. That is why I said in Nigeria professor is like appointment within the system. Some have been frustrated in the process. In polytechnics. no chief lecturer will want to go to University. That is why a PhD holder will want to stay on the polytechnic system because of reduction in salary in the universities.. With your PHD you may be given an LI or SL depending on your experience.A Principal lecturer will never ever want to go to university when he has a cadre to be a chief Lecturer..with close yo 500k he will be collecting every month. No wonder many lecturers still prefer to stay in polytechnic to coming over to university especially those who have become SL and above there
Well not everybody is supposed to be in the university system

. No sir it is all about academic nomenclature. Professor. is not used in the polytechnic ...CL is used there.
Let me ask you a question, why do polytechnics insist on having an internal rector, is it not because that you cannot compare a CL to a Prof?

Pokytecnic...Assistant lecturer. L111 L11 L1 SL PL and CL...With the revised progression though not yet implemented. GA will be the starting point for a degree holder....... University: GA AL. L11 LI SL Reader and Proff.......Becoming a reader is where the challenge is in university ..Awarding proffesssor depends on whom you are and how you relate to the management... Some readers don't even write again because they are not appointed as professors.Your assessment to be Reader is more challenging than your appointment as a prof...
One of the requirements says that as a reader you must have graduated atleast 2 msc students or 1 phd student, sometimes it is difficult

By the time you become a Reader you are an Associate Professor.. Same as colleges of education

Being a professor is either by appointment or by promotion. Normally if all things are equal one is expected to spend 3 yrs as a reader before being appraised... but all things are not equal and people have spent up to 5 or 6 yrs as a reader..
Also have in mind that the requirements this year will not be the same next year. For example have you seen the new draft document by NUC, that they are planning to implement soon? Compare that to the polytechnics.

Besides as a chief lecturer, and you want to move over to the university system the best you can get is a reader, otherwise na senior lecturer them go give you, some even got L1 because they didn't meet up with the requirements..
quote me anywhere!

It is not the same thing... why didn't you start from assistant lecturer and count..

Who says that a professor doesn't need publications? It is easier to become a chief lecturer with a Ph.D then a professor. The requirements to become a chief lecturer is very mild..

. in Nigeria from SL you get to Reader which means Associate Professor. Them you can be a professor later. You have to be in the good book of the management before you become a professor in many Nigerian universities. Some lecturers leave from one institution to another in order to be a professor.. Everything has been politicized.... In polytechnic. the highest rank is Chief Lecturer which is equivalent to a university professor. Even the salary disparity between a professor and a CL in polytechnic is very negligible.
Chief lecturer is equivalent to an associate prof not a full professor

Bbnaija: Ebuka Evidently Expressed His Hatred For Tacha Tonight.

Before we delve into the main issue, a little detour.

So, I made a comment here last week about how heavily hypocritical Nigerians are about this BBNaija show. I only watch the show on Saturdays and Sundays, the parties and eviction shows respectively, and I don't understand why Nigerians are bit*ching so much about it.

All these moralistic, self-righteous people will be asking, "What is the essence of this BBNaija show?" Ogbeni, if you don't want to watch, don't tune in. Don't open threads concerning BBNaija. Submit your IP addresses let me see the kind of por*n y'all are watching. It's distracting Nigerian youths, are they retards? Don't they know they should only in their free time? Who's forcing them to borrow airtime to vote for already-made people?

.........................................................

So tonight, Ebuka was a plain bad show host. This isn't tribalistic cos I'm Igbo, but he didn't do well speaking to Tacha and addressing her like she's a cankerworm in the house.

He showed very clearly how much he hates the girl. Ebuka is allowed to have favorites but not to express favoritism or dislike openly.

He began by saying: "So, Tacha, you know all that's going on in the house. You seem to know who's losing and who's winning. You analyse everything bla bla bla... So tell me three characteristics of a winner,"

As a sharp PH babe, the girl said, "Tacha, Tacha, Tacha..."

Ebuka, fool he is, immediately took offense. In a demeaning way, he asked her, "What is the meaning of characteristics?" The girl said it means something that defines a winner.

He kept asking her the question in a very condescending manner and she kept saying, "Me." The girl even got surprised at a point about how aggressive he was.

Finally, he said, "I expected better," and some other rude statement he made, and moved to the next person.

....................................................................

At the end of the show, he began to shade Tacha very heavily but indirectly, saying that some housemates should know that they are not biggie himself but mere housemates. They should stop trying to know what the viewers want and have fun in the house. That some people here feel that because they have a so-called army outside, they can just sit through the show and win the money...

EBUKA, if you're on Nairaland, You messed up big time tonight putting that girl out there like that and demeaning like she was some slowpoke...

FYI, I want Omashola to win, not even the kain Tacha I'm here defending. I wonder why they didn't punish that Jackie girl for accusing Tacha of witchcraft. They let it slide. Defamation shouldn't be permitted even though it's a game.

Like play like play, na she go win even though she no go carry the money. Just like CeCe.

Modified: And as for all the hate-blinded, uneducated RUGA stinking cows wailing below, quote me and waste your borrowed data.

Good night, Nairaland.
Oh please!!!!

Charles Esimone: Deeper Life pastor emerges new UNIZIK Vice Chancellor months after welcoming quadruplet

Prof. Charles Esimone has emerged the new Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka in Anambra State.

His emergence was sequel to the conclusion of interviews for the post of Vice-Chancellor in which he took the first position.

The university’s Director of Information & Public Relations/Chief Protocol Officer, Dr. Emmanuel Ojukwu, disclosed this in a statement Tuesday night.

He also said Esimone was immediately handed his appointment letter as the sixth substantive Vice Chancellor of the university on Tuesday by the governing council of the institution.

According to Ojukwu, the Pro-Chancellor and the Chairman of the Council, Alhaji Azeez Oladotun, said Esimone’s emergence as the new Vice Chancellor was done through a rigorous and transparent selection process.

“No fewer than 10 professors indicated interest in the vice chancellorship seat of the prestigious university,” he said.

Esimone, a Deeper Life Pastor, emerged Vice Chancellor barely two months after he and his wife welcomed a quadruplet, two boys and two girls.

The couple had welcomed their first son in 2015, after 12 years of barrenness.

A pioneer dean of the faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences of UNIZIK, Esimone was the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic) until his latest appointment.

Prof. Esimone was also the director of Confucius Institute of the University.

He is a Professor of Biopharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical microbiology as well as a Fellow of the Academy of Science (FAS).

b.sc/eng is NQF level 7
B.sc/eng(hons) is 8

phd is 10

in south africa engineering is a 4 year course, and you graduate with a b.sc or b.eng... but in nigeria engineering is a 5 year course and you obtain a b.engr(hons)
now with b.eng(hons) you can go for masters but some like UP and Stellies will prefer to waste your time with pgd or hons programme, while they allow their students to go for masters straight.

UJ has both programmes for btech and beng, so if you have btech, one can apply for Mtech programme but when you want to apply for Meng programme, you will be required to do do pgd or hons programme before proceeding to Meng
