In every country on the planet you must register as a resident of the state in which you reside. There is nothing "indigenous" about it. This is not your tribal census.

You utilize the resources of the state in which you reside. (So you must pay taxes) Are you planning on not paying taxes to give back to the state that provides for you? If so, please leave immediately. You are a deadbeat and will not be welcome anywhere on Earth, not even in your brother's house.

In the US, for example, your only form of identification is your STATE ID. You car, has a STATE license plate. You pay local, STATE, and federal taxes. You vote in your STATE elections, and even get a voter card issued by your STATE dept of elections. The reasons for this are endless.

Who told you that you must carry additional residency cards? You have ONE ID. That is for the state where you reside. Reside is a word that means where you live. Do you live in Lagos? Then you will need a RESIDEncy card. Are you visiting Lagos? Then you do not need one. No one should need to explain this to you.

Move to another state? Guess what! You go get a new residency card. Do you own more than one house? Then you pick a PRIMARY RESIDENCE, and register only in that state. None of this is complex.

We are not savages living in an endless jungle, like they must do in your village. Roaming like pack animals with no fixed address. You get a donkey for that one.

To have a functioning society people must have addresses, ID cards, and pay taxes. None of that exists in Nigeria, but it exists in Lagos State. If you can't handle being a big boy, pack your bags and go hug a lion.

y'all arguing on here, IT isnt computer science, please. in IT, you cant even get a phd because there are significant limitations. universities have found out some folks are interested in learning how to write softwares and manage databases, so, in a school like Unilag, you can go for a masters in Info tech. but you cant advance to do a phd. like some peeps pointed out, most "programmers" without fundamental knowledge of how the computer works cant even write simple compiler argument. and lots more. so, please, computer science isnt about mysql, html and python.

For the undergrads who detest the maths aspect of computer science, please know that maths, comp sci and elect are deeply interconnected. You can never achieve true understanding without knowing the first principles on which your field is based.

Ask any physics grad and they will tell you of the need to always identify and master the fundamental laws/principles before going on to study phenomena(be they natural or manmade like computers).

You want to jump on to Cisco networking, OSPF etc and you refuse to learn the Shortest Path First and other path finding algorithms who derive their existence to the Graph Theory maths that you detest.

I could go on and on about the beauty of algorithms including encryption algorithms, packet sharing algorithms, fuzzy logic etc. Its heady stuff and if you already love logic, you can fall in love with them easily.


Finally, I want to flip to the other side and say that university knowledge is a refinement of generally held knowledge too. As such, it is possible to actually engage in a period of self study and still achieve the same level of knowledge gained by attending a university. Don't argue that with me, just google AUTODIDACTISM. There are lots and lots of articles on it.

P.Josh. If however you have other interests, I would advice doing either a combined major of computer science and another course (e.g Economics which you will find supremely useful or Maths). The other option is to study another course but gain practical IT skills by taking A+(practical IT maintenance skills), Java/Python/.net( programming), MySQL/oracle(DBMS), Net+/CCNA( Networking) to make you a versatile individual.

'In essence all am trying to say is u can be great in d world of computer regardless of ur area of study if u have d love for it nd can identify ur area of interest in computer cuz d world of computer is very vast'

*I believed in the Tooth fairy(courtesy of cartoons), only ish was in Nigeria our tooth fairies were actually rats. Mum would tell me to keep my tooth safe after it'd fallen off or the rats would eat it and i'll have rat teeth . I guarded my tooth with my life.

*I always wondered how Santa would drop me gifts since we didn't have a chimney. I bothered dad so much about adding a chimney to the roof for Santa n begged him to buy a Christmas tree too. I got the tree but not the chimney, and I never saw Santa.

*Everytime I saw Always sanitary pad advert, i'd ask mum why they poured that blue liquid on it. When I saw her own pad I was so excited, I spent over a week searching for where she hid the blue liquid. I got a lashing for all my troubles

*My dad is dark and mum fair. I have two fair siblings, while my bro n I are dark skinned. I concluded dad birthed us and mum had the other two.

*When I finally discovered only women had kids, I kept wondering why we were dark. My little mind concluded the doctors colored us whichever way our parents wanted. I was gonna have red babies like the red Indians

*When I was 6, my classmate told me we could turn cabin biscuit to chocolate by frying. I got home and emptied half a pack of cabin in the pan--all I got was charred biscuit afterwards. I still believed I had done it wrong till I turned 10..before I finally realized that cabins weren't chocolates

*After a bout of chicken pox, I refused to eat chicken for the next 5yrs...my parents had to convince me I hadn't contracted it from an actual chicken

*I believed covering my head with a blanket would keep the monsters away

*Things acted in Sci Fi movies were real. I wondered why our car couldn't fly.

where as back home in Nigeria, our official language is the english language. which mean we often measure intelligence based on a nigerian's ability to communicate up to a certain level especially when the person in question claims to have attained a higher level degree like a Bachelor of Science or bachelor of arts.
