To everyone in the house,
I apologise for staying away,the move has been very tasking jare.
To vinsmuft abeg take this as a reply to your mail.
So upon arrival these are the things we did;

for communication:we got a lebara sim and are on the $30 monthly package(it gives 100mins free to naija,free australia calls and some kain data allowance and stuff)

for transportation:hubby got a car from gumtree.Pls learn from us,buy a car that is registered till year end and has a valid road worthiness certificate.Then any car is just fine and no one cares about your type of car in Oz.Its right hand driving here and hubby don master am already so we use GPS to go everywhere and anywhere we want to.I have driven a few times too and still adjusting.We can use our naija license for 6months in Victoria.

For cash:we came with usd and left some in our niger dom acct(avoid this if you can as you can only withdraw $1k max monthly and the charges are not friendly).Come with all your cash if you can.You can always change usd into aud in any of the many bureau the changes in town.

Then open a bank acct as soon as you come in cos you will need it to make claims at centerlink.

Centerlink is a must within a few days of your arrival.Make sure you go to an office that has both centerlink and medicare to save extra movement.Husband and wife have to register seperately at centerlink while for medicare the whole family ie including kids will fill seperate forms.After medicare reg,request for a slip with your info on it there in the office.You can use this before your card comes in(we took one of our kids to the clinic before our card arrived and we had to pay $75 because we didnt get that slip).We are going to reclaim the money though.

For couples with kids,locate a bulk billing medical practise close to you and go with your kids immunization cards from nigeria(take your medicare slip along)so it can be updated to the australian standard.If there are any outstanding vaccines,you will informed and a date will be given you to come take the vaccinations.If you do not update their vaccines,you will not be entitled to child care rebates from centerlink.

There are certain claims we can request for from centerlink as new migrants in Oz to help offset a few bills(family assistance part A and B,rent assistance,child care benefits and child care rebate).Depending on your individual circumstance,you should be entitled to a stipend monthly.we have applied and is yet to receive.

TFN:Apply for your tax file number at home online.No need to go to the post office.

For accomodation:We are staying with family in Northern Melbourne but we are presently house hunting and leaning towards south eastern melbourne as that is closer to the cbd.Because we are dont have payslips yet and no rental history,it hasnt been so easy getting our own apartment.We sha got somoene who knows someone who"s very close to an estate agent and they are helping.We however have to pay 3months in advance to secure this place.

For work:im not searching yet as kids must start daycare first(they only got their vaccines yesterday).We also want accomodation sorted before they begin daycare.
Hubby too has not been too serious because we both want this housing matter settled.However,he has done two short courses and has offers already but hes stalling because where we are is about 2hrs45mins by train and 1hr 35mins by car from the placement.

Then just as an advice for peeps coming over,keep an open mind with regards to jobs you can do.I have met lots of people who dumped their PR professions and jumped on the wagon of disability and aged care,nursing,fork lift,construction and factory workers in other to earn money and believe me,they are doing so well.So if you have do one of the above until your desired job breaks through,abeg do am and nobody dey look face here as long as bills are paid and there"s dignity of labour.

If i remember more,i will halla.
Thanks so much for this information

Hi,

WES strictly accept transcript from the institution only.

What you can send is your certificate and/or statement of account only.

All the same, school will still need to send trasncript to WES.

Best regards.
pls statement of account for what?

Hmm let the school do it because like l said for verification they will contact the school and if the school says they did not send it to start with,the flag of integrity will be raised.
Thanks

It has be from the school or did the school give it to you.For verification and integrity sake let the school do it,it is their part of the process.The only thing you can do is fast track their sending by involving a courier service
i have it for i work in the school and the transcript money is just going up everyday
TravelRe: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program Connect Here by sundaydammy: 9:59am On Mar 21, 2017

As Eghosa mentioned, its actually in 2 stages;

(1) WES acknowledging they have received your documents (transcript) from school & also photocopy of your certificate.
Status will change to "Document received (review in progress)"

(2) WES will usually send a mail to your school (Nigeria school as my own case) for some verification.
When school responds and WES get the feedback, your status will change to "Document received, evaluation in progress"

Note;
At this stage , it depends on the workload at hand (at WES), it varies between 2~4 weeks (mine took 4 week - 19/20 working days);
Also you have to send them an email once or twice a week to ensure it doesn't even go beyond 2~4 weeks.

======MY TIMELINE FOR WES VERIFICATION======

> 03-Jan-2017: Paid for WES
> 04-Jan-2017: Send certificate (photocopy) to WES (via Nipost)
> 04-Jan-2017: Transcript payment to school (To be sent to WES)
> 06-Jan-2016: Transcript sent to WES from school
> 20-Jan,2017: Document received (review in progress)
> 10-Feb,2017: Waiting for verification from institution-----Status changed on WES portal/site
> 14-Feb,2017: School started working on WES request.
> 21-Feb,2017: School sent document to WES.
> 22-Feb,2017: Document received, evaluation in progress-----Status changed on WES portal/site
> 15-Mar-2017: WES evaluation completed
pls can i send my Transcript to WES by myself i have it with me ?
Thanks

Hi y'all I truly apologize for asking a question that may have been flogged on this thread. However, I may not be able to find the answer in good time......I am helping my mom put together a tourist visa app for Canada and she intends to submit tomorrow. I just realized that I am not sure if the vfs center collects original documents or photocopies. Please could anyone help with an answer? Thanks in advance.

Thanks so much this very strong advice unlike some others that will tell you don't use agent without what one need to do. Thanks for this

awelekiti:
The applicant must have prepared well for the visa, given the impressive documents highlighted. You just have to do your best to convince the VO you're qualified for a visa, by proving to them that your tie is strong enough at home and you won't embrace any opportunity which may encourage your staying back in canada after your mission. Applying for a visa entails enough preparation. It's like an exam, for which you must be well prepared, for an excellent result. Unfortunately,most of us Nigerians like cutting corners. If you're a salary earner and you know you want to travel in future without hitches,you should save money and start investing in property from the onset. There are legitimate ones for as low as 700k/plot. Buy like 2 plots and keep the papers. They're vital visa documents. Everything is planning. It could take you a few years but it will pay off, eventually. Put your money you're not spending, in bank fixed deposits, get the certificate and keep. Build up a call account for a short term investment, buy into shares and keep the certificates. All these added together alongside other docs on their visa checklist, will give you a boost in your future visa applications. You give the VO everything and let them choose what they want lol. There's a reward in planning, not only for visa but in everything you do. That's what makes the western countries look more organised than us in africa...they plan.

Hello people.. If you need to exchange naira at Travelex. please come with the following photocopies else your application wouldn't be treated;
*Visa
*Ticket
*BioData page of passport
*Boarding pass
*BVN card

I had to run around for almost an hour before I got them ready. of course, getting them ready at the airport is expensive. so you will be better off doing them at home.. then, you can photocopy your boarding pass when you get it..
$1=375 at the airport

wishing everyone expecting their visa a successful application. it will end in praise.
God did it #openheavens #blessedandfavoured

My people, I am too happy ooo..
I applied the second time for a visitor visa on the 20th of February for a conference starting next week. I sent multiple mails to the embassy asking them to show me mercy and expedite my visa application because I had school exams early February. Yesterday, I got a mail that my passport is ready for collection. Less than 15days!!! I summoned courage and went today to pick it up and smiling at me was my visa oooo. 3 months multiple entry. Please ooo. Can I change naira at the airport at Travelex?? What is the exchange rate? I may be leaving tomorrow or next by God's grace..
God is good i thank God for you congrats

Well I think u should know d documents that were submitted by your agents first, before u can defend yourself. And if a fraudulent document was submitted by them without your knowledge, I think u should involve a lawyer. I stand to be corrected
