No I don't think so, I do have some friends who do that. Although in my case I preferred to wait it out till I was approved in 2 months of setting up my blog which you can check out in my signature below.

If you are not comfortable with him adding his code to your website then I suggest waiting to get yours approved.

But if not you can always know how much your site is earning because he will need to add your website under his own adsense account dashboard so you will know how much you are earning. PLUS you can use a google adsense extension in google chrome to see your earnings.
