HealthRe: COVID-19: CFL To Release 20-Minute Result Oriented Test Kit Into Nigerian Market by sureteeboy(m): 10:09am On May 05, 2020

Mynd44:
90% accuracy is a huge problem. It means in every 100, 10 of the results will be wrong.

In this case, you will have positive people testing negative and discharged into the community to re-infect others.

Work done, zero
Yes Boss. Conditional probability involving false positives and false negatives can be counterintuitive.

If 1% of 1000 people (10 people) has the virus and the test has a false positive of 10% and correct accuracy of 90%. It means that when 1000 people does the test, the test kit will detect the virus in exactly 9 of the 10 people who has the virus, yielding 1 false negative, but it will also yield a positive result in 99 of the remaining 990 people who do not have the virus, bringing the total to 108 positives instead of 10.

But It's not a huge problem if more than one rapid test kit is used on each individual before a final assertion is made. At least, they don't have to wait too long for result.
And also, I think that's better than testing less than 0.001% of the entire populace since the virus started and leaving citizens who would have tested positive roaming on the streets and infecting others

How many citizens will NCDC test in the next 2 weeks should be the question.
A Country that has tested less than 20,000 of its citizens in almost 3 months doesn't give a damn about them.
Majority will contact the virus from this lockdown ease and will never be tested, while they proceed to transfer it to the rest of their families

Kaysalas:
While I understand your line of thought, I still see a whole lot wrong with the use of the head as stated in the textbook. is carrying load on the head a universally recognised function of the head?
You will agree with me, it is not. It has always been the less developed cultures around the world/primitive man who has always seen this as the function of the head.
In this age and time, the head is used for thinking.
Forget the brain, it's an important component of the head wink
Yes, I got your point. What I'm just trying to say is, people still carry loads with head here in Africa, especially in areas where there is water scarcity, you'll see people fetching water from nearby compounds and transporting it on their head home.
So, I think it's not out of place to tell nursery students that the head is used for carrying load, especially when it's not stated that it's the only function the head is used for. As the students progress in learning, they'll learn about the real function of the head that might be too complex for their young minds to understand.
The way I can just fault the textbook is if it is directed to students in the primary section and above. Then it will be grossly misleading.
Hope you get my point.

Investnow2017:
While your argument is plausible, in this day and age, nah, nah, nah. Why not say, the head is the part of your body you wear your CAP! That will be universally acceptable!
.
Yea, I get. But the thing is,
1) We don't know what class the textbook is meant for
2) Well don't even know when it was written.
If the book was written for Nursery students, it's not out of place to tell them that the head is used for carrying load, especially if those students being taught actually reside in rural areas where they see adults carrying water kegs up and down grin
It would instead be erroneous if the writer of the textbook had assigned a function for head which it's never used for in reality. Hope you get my point.

Thinking!
Use your head bro!
Remember the saying?
If head is used for thinking, what is the brain used for?
We need to understand how learning works at the elementary level before criticising any thing we see.
When we were in the nursery school, we can easily work with basic addition and subtraction, e.g, 1 + 2 = 3. 2 - 1 = 1.
But when it comes to subtraction like 1-2, they taught us it is impossible, until we got to JSS1 Where we learnt about number line.

In Elementary classes, we were taught that there are 5 sense organs, there are 3 states of matter.
We were also taught that the sun is the centre of our solar system and it doesn't move.
We all know now that those things are incorrect, but the basic purpose is just to give us the idea of what those things are.
If that textbook is written for Nursery or Primary 1 students, then ai don't see any thing wrong with that. By the time they get to higher classes, they'll learn about more functions of the head

If we say North is the problem with Nigeria now, they'll say we are not being nice..

When Lagos, Ogun and other Southern states have been on lockdown for over a month, Kano and the likes was left open and yet the governor is refusing a presidential directive to lockdown Kano for two weeks.

I pray you folks don't self-destruct with your arrogance and self centerdness.
They are free to do as they like. If they want, they can even cancel the lockdown totally
The government and security agencies should just ensure that no fool sneaks out of Kano under any circumstance. And anyone caught should be shot on sight

TravelRe: Have You Ever Been Stranded While Travelling? How Did It Go? by sureteeboy(m): 9:29pm On Apr 26, 2020
I've been stranded once. But it wasn't due to money issues though.
During my NYSC days, I was posted to Benue State, but I do stay with my brother in Onitsha. Then I got a call one fateful day that clearance has been scheduled for the following day.
I had to hurriedly leave for the park that afternoon to get a bus going to Obollo Afor in Enugu, from where I could get a bus going to Benue. Unfortunately, I went to the wrong park and the bus took a whole lot of time before getting filled up. We left Onitsha some minutes after 5pm and the bus driver had to take one long route again.
To cut the story short, I got to ObolloAfor in Enugu around 8:30pm and there was no bus going to Benue again. Considering the fact that it will still take almost 3 to 4 hours to get to Makurdi from that place, and I must at least enter Benue State that night if I want to stand any chance of meeting the clearance by 7am the following day, I already knew there's a serious problem

The way people talk about taxes in Nigeria sef undecided

For everyone who works in a structured organization, taxes are deducted before salary.

For others who make supplies to companies, taxes are withheld before they're paid for these contracts.

The market woman who sells along d road in those dirty markets have to pay to task force, who say they're working on behalf of govt.

The taxi driver pays d agberos, also reps of govt.

In one way or d other, we all pay taxes. That the govt is not structured to ensure this money gets into d system shouldn't be d fault of the common man. Afterall ds same govt drills d natural resources in our lands and profit from it, how has d common man benefited from d common wealth?

You think d oyibos pay taxes outta sheer decency? Far from it. They do cos taxes cannot be evaded and that's cos a system is in place. Copy same in naija and c how everyone becomes a law abiding citizen.

In d meantime, Nigeria dey smell abeg. Yuck!!!

Tax or no tax, d people deserve palliatives from government

Dial *121# and select "Top deals for me".
You can also download my mtn app on playstore and you'll see one egg offer like that. Just crack the bundle egg and see what they have for you. Then you can compare with what you saw when you dialed *121# and pick whichever one is best for you.

If both deals are not good enough, you might try it on another MTN sim, because those deals always vary with sim cards

Wen we got to ontisha they guy said for him to check my phone he was to check the phone with computer that that the cost is #10, but what he never told me was that a kilobyte is #10 so i said he should do it for the #10.

After he had finished checking the stuff, the next thing i head was ur money is 6k my head spin..!! I was like for waitn he said for the checking of the phone. Bini boy wen nor dey dull wen i be, i asked the guy that he didn't tell me that the #10 is multiplied by the total byte used because if he had told me am not a daft i wouldn't have agreed. After all the shout and argument the guy said 6k is 6k i told him i will only give him him 1k with my mind self if e make me vex he won't get a dime. So his friends that gather now said i should drop the 1k and go sey the screen nor dey
