This should help shine more light on my stated opinion. Okezie Ikpeazu has proven time and again that he doesn't know what he's doing.

In my grading system below, 1 is the lowest and 10 is the highest.

Nigeria is blessed with a plethora of natural resources. As if that wasn't enough, we also have enough human capital to lead ourselves. However, we've been having bad luck after bad luck when it comes to selecting our leaders.

I wish I could make this into a poll or a sort of online vote so it'll be easier for everyone to share their 2 cents. The goal is to hopefully help change the way our leaders treat us by shaming them small.

My vote is 1: Okezie Ikpeazu. He's literally the worst of the worst. We are not talking about rocket science here oh. This guy won't even handle the basic things well. I don't even know where to start with him; poor roads, pot holes everywhere, electricity situation is poor, schools poor, security situation poor.

The agbaya won't even pay common salaries but rumor has it that he gets around N1 Billion Naira monthly in security vote! Shameful

I'm just venting here.

I love Nigeria, I want it to grow and eventually become part of the developed world. Some things just day baffle me sha so I say make I ask my fellow Nigerians which way na?

We have allowed our leaders to do us anyhow since 1960. Why can't we come together as one people and fix this country? We are arguably worse off economically than we were in 1980. Our infrastructure is in decay, airports like PH airport is an eyesore as of Jan last year. Corruption runs deep.

We elect leaders who have a history of looting state and federal treasuries (Aka robbers) but we expect them to fix the loop holes that allowed them walk away Scott free. A lot of times we elect them strictly based on tribal affliation; why for God's sake?!

We have historically rejected good candidates for bad ones. For example, Pat Utomi, Sowore and Oby Ezekwesili came out to provide alternative leadership to what we have but we rejected them. Why?

If we keep rejecting good candidates/leaders, how exactly do we intend on getting better as a people/country?

This is not a Buhari is bad pissing party abeg because our problems as a country didn't start in 2015.

I remember how a now rich uncle of mine used to hustle and trade in secondhand wears with Rochas years back. I was still very young but I remember Rochas was kind. He even sent me pocket money once when I was still in a "School Called Hell" . It's a fact. I cannot fault his generosity. I still owe him on that gesture.

The reason why you ask questions about your leaders source of wealth is to ascertain if that person is trust worthy enough to be in charge of public funds. If they have a history of looting with no repercussions, they'll likely do it again if given another chance (A lot of people ignore this).

I'ld like to believe Rochas is different and he's a good man but if he is not, I hope EFCC and ICPC does the needful.

1. Review of the structure of Federalism we practice. We don't need to let regions become autonomous when we can let them control their resources only to pay taxes to the central govt. Nigeria's federal system as practiced now empowers the central govt in such a way that it can hold all the states to ransom. Currently, all states are not prosperous nor towing the line of prosperity, so arguing that fiscal federalism and resource control will put some states at a higher financial advantage over others is baseless.

2. The downsizing of the NPF to a manageable body of well-educated, well trained, highly equipped Federal Police Dept. to monitor homeland security and work hand in hand with the state police depts. As all states should be allowed to have their own police. State governors or fed reps can make use of the fed police while visitn oppositing-party ruled states to avoid intimidation.

3. Removal of the immunity clause.

4. Review of Criminal Laws. Why should terrorist not be hanged. Why should drug traffickers, armed robbers get mere sentences. Our judiciary also need reforms to enhance speedy processes.

5. Creation of a strong Intelligence Agency. This shall be a combination of the ICPC, EFCC to fight not just corruption alone but feed the Fed Police with Intel.

6. The reduction of the appointment powers of the president (why should he have the final say on appointment CJN, PAC, EFCC, INEC, the POLICE etc) Then he himself can sabotage the existence of the state.

7. Option 1. Will systematically downsize the Fed Govt. Because there will be less money to joke with at the central. And politicians will find State politics more attractive.

8. The federal government should not have any business to do with road construction, primary nor secondary education.

9. The business of the fed govt should just be on electoral processes, national security for the continuity of the existence of the state, issues affecting currencies, imports and exports, immigration, foreign policies, social security, massive employment creation, regulation of the private sector. Etc.

Just my thoughts.

Very good suggestions...but removing that immunity clause will definitely backfire big time. Government officials would spend more time in court defending themselves than leading. President and Governors only should get those immunity clauses

This is what I found in wikipedia. At the very least he should be tied to a case unrelated to this and arrested and put in jail for life because this singular action pretty much led to the civil war.

I refuse to accept speculation. Speculation can be dangerous. Prior to second coup in Nigeria, speculation was rife that the then Head-of-state, Gen. Aguiyi Ironsi was very rich. Why the personal attacks? I'm actually not jobless neither am I looking to denigrate any politician on here. If he were a private citizen then I'll probably not even care how he made his $ but he is a public leader so asking how he made his money isnt pokenosing its a basic info we should ask of politicians.

This is not an Ibo, Yoruba, Hausa or Nigerian civil war issue...I just asked a simple question because I've been trying to figure out how our current leaders made their money. Even if Gov. Rochas was Yoruba or Hausa I'ld still ask the same question.

Rochas grew up in Jos and became a teacher. He had a tutorial center where kids come to learn and prepare for exams. Many became great scholars through his centre and he was recognized. The children of the rich also patronized him even the Gbong Gwom of Jos kids also patronized his center. That is why it`s easy for him to give free education because it`s his business.

Sometimes, in the early 90s IBB went to Jos and asked the Gbon Gwom of Jos to provide an educationist who can implement an educational scheme for Plateau then and he was recommended. He implemented the scheme successfully and he was given the privilege to replicate it in all the Northern states. This is how he got his way into government. He later won the contracts to supply Prado Jeeps and other stuffs across the federation. That was how he continue to grow from...............

joeyfire: @OP - rochas made his first major breakthrough from a contract in 1999 or 2000 (I'm not too sure of the year now). The FG gave him a contract to supply prado jeeps to every police command in every local goverment area in the country. For those old enough to remember the police prado jeeps with "Algon" printed on the side. the man made a killing and I guess blew from there.

But I remember he was so wealthy even before that. He contested the governorship election with Achike Udenwa and lost. I remember those prado jeeps...those were the ish then. The local government chairmen used those jeeps for all their worth lol

My brother, its not laziness that's doing me, its just curiosity. Im sure other people want to know too. People know how most politicians made their money but his case is different. If he invested in the stock market and hit millions or billions of dollars then thats great.

This guy ran for governor in 1999 and then decided to run for the presidency and failed again after spending so much money in 2003. He then tried again in 2007 and failed. And now he finally became a very good governor...God bless him. He is a great philanthropist and has been giving free education to kids for a while and all I hear is how rich this guy is and not how he worked his way up the money ladder. Did he invest in the stock market? How is this guy this wealthy? Its really embarrasing. All these foreign oil companies should be compelled to put 10% of their profits towards development of sports in Nigeria (its radical but we need radical ideas to save this country). If they do that we can easily get $1 Billion dollars to help develop sports in this country. We loose in every single sports and even soccer. Something has to change.
