Kaysalas:

Congrats on your eventual success. But please, did you have someone to mark your writing and drill you on speaking during your preparations for the Ielts? I am having this conundrum @ the moment, my test is on the 12th of next month

Thank you. I practiced on my own. Which materials are you using to prepare?

Pre ITA
Decision to Migrate

I’ve known about this express entry since 2015 when I was rounding up my masters but I had been away from Naija for so long and in retrospect I would say I was just home sick plus as a naija patriot who believes in his country and the opportunities abound here, coming back home wasn’t a bad idea. Fast forward to July 2018, I had been in the country for about over 2 years and then I was getting really tired of everything; job was a modern-day slavery and things were not looking like they would get better soon. Then one of my friends that had been disturbing me to apply for either Canada or Australia got PPR, it was like a wakeup call to give this a try, plus after he explained everything to me, I told myself the whole idea of dual citizenship wouldn’t hurt naw.

IELTS
This was the first major hurdle to cross. But still I was like is it not just English? las las I’ll be fine. This was around the period I discovered this thread then in part 5 and after going through a couple of pages, I realised that if care is not taken, this exam will fall person hand. Took it more seriously since I didn’t have 75k to waste, prepared for it and went in for the first one with BC, results came out and reading was 6.5. I was smiling when I say the result, I was so sure there was a mistake since reading was the part I had the most confidence in, I mean I finished it 20 minutes to time and even went through it again before submitting. Over confidence and agidy made me sharply apply for a remark and after waiting for a month the result came out unchanged. It was like they poured cold water on my body; in a way I would say it gave me the closure I was looking for. I immediately registered for the next available exam though this time with MOD as most people here claimed their marking was better. I barely prepared for the second one but funny enough when I came out of the exam hall, I was more confident than the first. Result came out successful LRWS 8.0,8.0,8.5,7.5 and CRS was 453, jumped into the pool naked and got ITA in 5 days. See my previous post on pointers to ace this exam here.

ECA
Used WES for my credential evaluation, it was pretty straight forward as I had a foreign masters hence didn’t go through the whole WAEC route. Evaluation was completed in like 5 weeks.

POST ITA
PCC

The plan was to submit as soon as I get the ITA but my North Cyprus PCC wasn’t having none of that. Something that I had been chasing since October was still holding me back in February. By day 58 with no North Cyprus PCC in sight, I had two options, either decline the ITA, go back into the pool or submit without the PCC. After asking for advice here, I resolved to decline the ITA but I just couldn’t see myself doing it. Instead, I submitted it like that with an LOE explain that I had started the process and was waiting for it. For more on how to get a PCC from North Cyprus or submitting an incomplete application, click here and here respectively.
Also needed to get Naija and UK PCC which on the other hand was a breeze, read my previous post here on the process for the Naija PCC

Medicals
I did an upfront medical with qlife way before I got my ITA which was very straightforward. A lot has been said about the process and I don’t even know if things are still the same since then.

POF
This was another tricky bit, I used 100% gift deed from my dad which I put into Stanbic mutual funds and used the certificate. In total my gift deed was made up of this certificate, a month statement from both my dad and me showing the transfer from his and when it reflected in my account, the gift deed letter, and an oanda converter for the pof sum. I would advice you give like a 100 – 200k buffer just incase, you never can tell.

Work Experience
I claimed just one-year experience as it was enough to get me ITA and since I didn’t want to start getting letters from two employers. I also wanted to be as discrete about it as possible so I couldn’t tell my HR what the letter was for or who to address it to. I just told her I needed a reference letter in the format IRCC requested for a visa I was applying for. The letter was addressed to whom it may concern and she asked that I write it which I happily obliged, she added some things and printed in the company’s letterhead.
Since I company doesn’t have any website, I added my offer letter, one-year statement of account highlighting the inflow of my salary monthly, six months payslip and scanned copy of my staff ID card.

Post AOR
This was when the real wait started. I submitted my application without a PCC so I had to make sure that before completeness check was conducted, I had raised a CSE to upload the remaining PCC. I was lucky enough to meet this deadline then the wait continued. AOR was February 16th and Biometrics was around early April and I was thinking that kpata kpata before the end of June I would have gotten PPR. If only I knew. To be honest this period can be very challenging especially for someone that intends to travel immediately you get PPR as you can’t make any concrete plans. I didn’t pay for the RPRF when submitting as I wanted to see the request as a sign my application had been approved.

On July 3rd after waiting for almost 5 months by body couldn’t take it any longer, I paid and raised a CSE to upload the receipt. July 10th I got a ghost update and ADR instructing me to pay for RPRF and upload my North Cyprus PCC. These were things I had already done but I didn’t want to argue with IRCC, me that was happy someone had touched my application, then it didn’t matter what they were asking for, Even if they asked me to swear affidavit that my birth certificate was original I would have done it without complain. Anyways, I uploaded both documents and submitted immediately. After like 2 days I got another ghost update, called IRCC and was told eligibility had been passed. Come and see the joy, was certain PPR would land in like a week. One week passed then the second, then a month, yet nothing. At some point I got tired of calling IRCC, work became very busy I didn’t pay too much attention on the stuff though I kept checking it everyday oo. I cannot come and miss ghost update. Fast forward to September 9th, got a ghost update early in the morning and I knew the end was close. But out of curiosity I called IRCC that afternoon and was told “Congratulations, Your application had been approved the previous night”. Brethren, the joy that came over me that day knew no bounds. I was certain it would drop that night. Got home by 10pm and checked my mail, PPR was seating comfortably like a boss, At that point what I felt was more of relieve, I had waited 6 months and 3 weeks for this and I was just thankful that it finally came. Submitted passport at vfs the following day being 10th which coincidentally was my birthday. It was the best birthday present I received in a while.

To all those at different stages of this process, the truth is it’s not easy but please don’t lose sight of the end goal. I read every page in part 5, 6 and 7. By part 8 I couldn’t keep up any longer as I had already submitted. I learnt all I know about this process from this thread by reading the famous page one and asking questions when I needed clarification. I met a lot of helpful people here and I can remember how motivated I felt reading PPR gist. I told myself that I would also give back to this thread when I got mine. Sorry it’s coming a bit late but I just couldn’t type anything till it came. Thank you all and I pray you all get it.

While you await response from those who have received gcms notes. Assume that you are submitting today and use today's rate to calculate your funds. Use www.xe.com their figures is in tandem with bank of Canada rate. If the result is favourable to you, then you are safe. Historically, the official rate has not exceeded 275 in the last 60 days.

I’ve submitted for a while now, used xe.com then and made sure I was about 300dollars above the minimum, saw a rate from someone’s gcms note of about 285 to 1 CAD. I just want to verify.

Please to those that have ordered gcms notes recently, what rate did cic use in calculating your pof?, I’m a bit worried that my buffer might not be enough.

Again for those that are Post ITA and close to the 60 days deadline without getting their PCC let me share my story.

Got ITA Dec 19th, did an upfront medicals so the only thing left was sorting out my POF. Had that sorted out by mid January but couldn’t submit as I was waiting for a PCC. When my deadline came close I was contemplating declining the ITA and going back to the pool. 2 days to my deadline I decided not to decline it, wrote an LOE explaning that I have started the process and would submit the PCC via a CSE before MEP/BIL. Attached a letter alongside the LOE showing that I had started the process then submitted. 30 days post AOR got he PCC and raised a CSE immediately to upload it. Got a mail that they have received it 2 days later.

What I’m I trying to say?, this journey one has to be guided. I thought I was safe with a CRS of 451 and could afford to decline ITA and be sure of getting the next one. Scam. You would not believe that if I had rejected it I wouldn’t have gotten ITA for the next 2 rounds.

Got BIL a couple of days back and going for biometrics this week. This journey has not been easy but like they say, it would all end in praise.

Hello house, I just thought I should drop this here as it might help someone on this journey. I would try to keep this as brief as possible.

So some of you may know that I have been trying to get my North Cyprus PCC for a while now. Along the way, I Crossed paths with a very selfless Nigerian on this thread called Temas. He posted the first step by step process of getting the PCC, even shared the link of the agent I eventually used. Before I start rambling about how great this guy is let me go straight to the point.

I would advice anyone looking to get a PCC from North Cyprus to use an agent. Not that you cannot do it without one but if you don’t want to be as fraustrated as I was just save yourself the headache. What do you need?

1. Write a letter giving the agent proxy to apply for and collect your PCC on your behalf ( Pm me for his contact details)
2. Notorize this letter ( did mine at high court Ikeja for 1,500 naija. They will even take 1,200 if you can bargain)
3. Send/Take this letter to the Ministry of foreign affairs Abuja to authenticate it ( this would cost you btw 5 -10k and would take a day or two)
4. Thereafter, take the letter to Turkish embassy Abuja for authentication ( cost $20 per page and would take btw 2 days to a week)
5. Send the letter along with 2 passport photographs to the agents address in North Cyprus ( used dhl for 26k and documents got there in about 8 days). *please emphasize that it’s North Cyprus not just Cyprus before they send it to Larnaca. Happened to me an they had to send it back to Turkey then Ercan*
6. When the agent gets your documents he would inform you and then you’ll need to pay his fees( Cost $150 dollars cry cry. Did western union)
7. You would need to also send him your passport datapage via mail

After all this you should get the soft copy of your PCC in like a week. He would send the hard copy via normal post( I sha don’t need it). Finally, It has ended in praise. Please help me thank Temas, he kept checking up on me when Turkish police were frustrating me and my proxy. Thank you sir and I hope one day I’ll meet you and madam in canny.

Above all, acknowledge God as the divine helper… “Nothing good comes except it’s from above”

God bless you and thank you for reading my long post!
PS: Please, rate your Prof well oooooooo!!!

Congratulations our able professor and script marker. It was indeed a very detailed write up. I would score you 9.89. Trust me that’s as good as it gets, you know how the thing goes. Congrats again, its remaining Ifeoma.

Thanks Swansky. I appreciate .just for clarification,Is it just my IELTS and ECA + hubbys IELTS that's required to enter the pool ??
What of his ECA?

Unfortunately you’d have to take the exam again. You need to score atleast 8777 in LRWS. I would advice you start your ECA immediately while you and hubby retake the exam. You’d need your ECA and IELTS to enter the pool. Goodluck

You can enter the pool with just your ECA and IELTS though your CRS might be too low to fetch you ITA. I would advice you to get your husbands ECA and preferably IELTS to increase your CRS. Note that since your husband is not the PA he doesn’t have to get the 8777.

Collected passport on 18th Jan[b]

I thank God for every thing, n all my family n friends especially nairalanders your stories n suggestions were really helpful.
Don't give up your miracle is on the way.

Is it just me that’s seeing that this your friends story is not adding up?

Firstly, how do you submit documents before ITA? What Is your friend submitting?
Secondly, who gets PPR 2 weeks after biometrics?. That can only happen if her visa office was in Lekki
Thirdly, how did your friends passport get ready before PPR?
And lastly, please ask your friend how many copies of the passport photograph she collected on the 18th was coloured cos I am not understanding anymore. This testimony is confusing me more than it’s encouraging me. I get headache.
But anyways, praise the Lord. It has finally ended in praise. grin grin.

When I had to submit mine, my Malaysian PCC wasnt ready. I just proof of application there and an LOE with the intention of raising a CSE later but it didnt come till MEP and hence I got an ADR with a 2 month period to upload it. Not a big deal, I'll say you should submit it like that with an LOE. unless you feel it wont still be ready in the next one month or so. my 2 cents.

I actually concur with the above, if you are sure you will get it in 2wks time. The R10 completeness check is unlikely to be completed by then.

I guess it is all down to your risk tolerance level.

If you choose to do so, you must:
show proof that you requested a police certificate from the correct authorities and
write a letter explaining all the efforts you have taken to get one.

Check here
The link only talks about showing proof that you tried getting it but couldn’t.
And again it states that even this is not a guarantee that you would get it.

Hello house, I’m in a pickle right now. I got ITA Dec 19th and my 60 days would expire on Monday. I have all my documents except one PCC that I have not been able to get and I don’t think I would get it before Monday. The only reasonable option in my opinion now is to decline the invitation, go back to the pool and get the next ITA as CRS is 453. But I don’t know why my head is telling me to submit and raise a Csr in 2 weeks and add the PCC as it’s should be ready by then. What do you guys think?

Good afternoon people, I need an advice.

With crs of 440, is it OK to book medical now ahead? Or must one wait for ITA to do the medicals. Thought there was something like upfront medical Kindly assist with this information. Txd

Booking is different from actually doing the medicals, and the last I checked qlife is fully booked till like April. I would advice you to book the next available date for medicals, all it would cost you is a phone call. With your CRS, you would most likely get ITA before the end of March( if I’m being optimistic). But if you get it before then, you can always call the hospital and they would try to give you a date before your 60days expires. I also did upfront medicals, did my medicals before ITA, I was lucky to pass my IELTS and get ITA in d next draw.

Since you're the PA, I suggest moving everything to personal history to simplify this matter. Contrary to what Swansy10 said, there is NO additional points for spouse's work experience.

This is correct, I didn’t take into consideration the part that says you’re the PA. He would not be needing referrals. Apologies for the misinformation.

Hello Everyone,Im a little confused about how to fill my husband’s “Work History”. He’s worked in about 5places in the past 10years. He’s only spent a little over two years in his current place of work. Getting referrals from all of them is a lot of work. Can I just fill his current employment and the one before (to make up about 4years plus) and move the rest to “Personal History”?
NB:I’m the PA

Also, POF: I recently opened an account with a Financial Investment Institution and bought TBills (money was a gift sent into this new investment account).I didn’t bother putting the money in my regular account which also serves as my salary account and expense account. Will I need to provide a bank statement for this account or should I just focus on the investment account?

He doesn’t need reference letters from all 10 years, 3 years and above is what is needed. The rest should go to personal history. You’re good to go. Goodluck
