So, he calls himself a petty thief after stealing things worth 28 million abi? Nigerians and wallowing in self pity. He doesn't have the qualifications, talents or innovative mind to help him live the lifestyle he wants, so he should work hard. If he was living in another country, he would have had a second job. And, not as a thief.

Omo Alata: You need to find out things in your foundation. I'll give you an example which will probably be pooh-poohed by some eejits on here but here goes anyway since you desire to know.

A brother was going through a similar dilemma. Nothing seemed to be working for him so he decided to trace his family history. He went to ask his last oldest living relative about his grandparents. The old man told him that his grandfather was a very powerful man. He said he used..........(I don't know whether to continue this on here).

Anyway, in a nutshell, the brother went for deliverance, he asked for forgiveness for all what his forefathers had done which was now affecting him and broke the bondage. That is how he was set free.

If a family is wealthy, and children can inherit wealth, why can't children inherit curses? Food for thought.

God will set you free.
This such a popular preaching in Nigerian churches and contrary to God's word.

Ezekiel 18: 19 "Yet you ask, 'Why does the son not share the guilt of his father?' Since the son has done what is just and right and has been careful to keep all my decrees, he will surely live. 20 The one who sins is the one who will die. The child will not share the guilt of the parent, nor will the parent share the guilt of the child. The righteousness of the righteous will be credited to them, and the wickedness of the wicked will be charged against them.

Moreover, If one has Jesus as Lord and savior, how can a curse work in that person's life?
Christianity Etc › Re: What Can You Do When Prayer & Praises Fail? by sweetrace(f): 9:25pm On Feb 19, 2013
@ Op, do you praise God so that He can work in your life? I've heard that preached a lot of times and I think it reeks of sycophancy. How would you like it if someone praises you for what they can get out of you? Can you not just praise God cos you genuinely appreciate Him? You sound like you're going through a hard time at the moment, and I'm sorry about that. But my candid advice is to have a sincere relationship with God. Prayer is just an avenue to converse with God. Tell Him what you want and listen to him. Trust that He hears you and you'll get an answer. Waiting isn't easy, but can't be skipped. Sometimes, the waiting period is so brief, and at other times the waiting can try ones patience. But keep on trusting.

cheleku: Well, your analogy is flawed and at best puerile. You don't need to administer pain killers to plants in order to numb the sensation of pain. Again, if its not about pain, it about what then?
For some, it is about pain. For others like some kid vegetarians, they simply don't eat anything with a face.
Food › Re: The Hypocrisy In Vegetarianism by sweetrace(f): 8:08pm On Feb 13, 2013
Frostyzone: Some vegetarians are so hypocritical as to eat eggs and drink cow milk, while still condemning people with normal appetite from eating meats.

Maybe eggs and milk grows from trees apparently in their weeded minds.

Another of their hypocrisy that gets me everytime is seeing one wearing leather belt while claiming to be vegetarian.

When I saw one, I was like, so you don't eat meat but you 'd rather wear one, abi?

Some of those weirdos are so frackin hypocritical that.....I'm short of words, but you get my point, right?
They're not being hypocritical when they eat eggs. They're different kinds of vegetarians. The ones that take diary products are lactovegetarians. They are different from vegans who do not eat, wear or use animal products.

gunuvi: This is really pathetic. They should allow the biological parents get their children back. Those adoptive parents are very wicked. This is really sad
It is the system that is horribly wicked. The adoptive parents are obviously kind to have raised three kids as well as their own five. Anyway, these are adults that we are talking about now. They're all over 18. Nothing is stopping them from establishing a relationship with their biological parents. Even the choice of religion is ultimately theirs. They were raises as Muslims before they were adopted and as Christians afterwards. They can compare and choose.

It takes a great deal of courage to come clean the way, knowing that the whole world would get to hear his confession. I think it was also a wise move on his part because it would have come to the public's attention that he was stripped of most of his record from the 90's last year. He was also banned from cycling competitions. Anyway, for all he has done in terms of beating cancer personally, and helping others beat cancer, he is my hero. Travel › Re: French Embassy In Lagos Sells Visas To The Highest Bidders? by sweetrace(f): 9:54pm On Jan 15, 2013
sko: The allegation is unfounded.People are just not well informed about visas at this age and time. You only need a sincere travels consultant to let you know why people get denied visa to France. The France Consulate remains the Schengen Mission that issues the most visas. You can go confirm this information.
Absolutely true. They give a complete list of all the documents that one would need. I didn't have the tax paper, but I have the tax I'd card and it was accepted without any hassles. Paris is a tourist city, so I don't think denying people entrance without good reasons will be in their own interest. However, like every single country, there is a limit of visas that can be given in a year. If the country of discussion was Britain, then yes, I would say they make obtaining a visa difficult. Difficult but not impossible. Nigerians should stop going to all these fake agencies that give incomplete lists, fill out the application forms on one's behalf (and wrongly at that), and help obtain fake documents. I think it is best to go to the embassy directly. Oh! And when you do get back from your trip, please go back to the embassy to show that you didn't disappear in their country. It usually makes renewal of the visa easy.

Christianity Etc › Re: Are You Fully Conscious When Speaking In Tongues? by sweetrace(f): 10:03pm On Dec 23, 2012
You are obviously very sincere and I'm not arguing to be right, but... Basically your explanation one given by quite a number of churches causing unnecessary confusion and people pretending to speak in tongues. An explanation that has an appearance of truth or reason, that seems worthy of approval or acceptance. However, I think I'll pass and stick to what my bible says because it is quite clear on this topic. But since I don't know it all, I'll keep searching my bible. Maybe you can humor me and do the same.
Bidam: The bible teaches us to desire spiritual gifts(1 cor.14:1). The bible also teaches us to earnestly covet the best gifts(1 cor 12:31). But remember that those words were written to pple who already spoke in tongues...infact d corinthians had a superabundance of speaking with tongues in the public assembly. It seemed that when these corinthians came togeda, all of dem wanted to speak in tongues at the same time. It is intresting to note, however, if everyone is speaking in tongues all at one time, the entire church congregation cannot be edified or built up, for no one would understand what is being said(1cor.14:2-19)..therefore, paul instructed d corinthians dat in public meetings only 2 or 3 pple should speak and another should interpret(1 cor14:27)..also if there wasn't an interpreter present, they should keep silent in the church(1cor.14:28). Paul didn't say the corinthians had received the wrong gift. They had received the right gift, but they were just so thrilled and exuberant that they wanted to talk in tongues all @ once..they needed instruction on how to use this gift...u see if we all praise God..it would be fine for all of us to praise God in tongues all togeda and all @ d same time. But it would certainly be wrong if everyone started talking in tongues while the preacher was trying to preach or teach....and it will not be right for someone to spend an hour speaking in tongues without any interpretation. The speaker would be edified, but the listener wouldn't get anytin out of it. That's why d bible said it is better to speak a few words with our understanding so we can teach others than it is to speak ten thousand words in tongues, unless we speak with tongues and interpret what we've said so that all may be edified.
Christianity Etc › Re: Are You Fully Conscious When Speaking In Tongues? by sweetrace(f): 4:49pm On Dec 23, 2012
Bidam: you are right and also wrong my dear..right in d sense dat the Holy Spirit is the giver of Gifts but wrong in d sense dat tongues is not for all believers..there is a difference between diversities of tongues which requires an interpreter so d church may be edified and devotional tongues which all believers are baptised in..remember paul never discouraged believers to pray in tongues in ur personal devotion to God..if not why would He say i thank my God i speak in tongues more than all of you..the diversities of gifts is for administration and the Spirit wills so the Church may be edified(1cor12)..but d devotional gift of tongues which is for all believers is for personal edification(1 cor14:4)(jude1:20)..remember all recieved the gift of tongues in act2. Paul was filled with d Holy Spirit in act9:18. Peter went to d house of cornelius and all were baptised with d evidence of speaking in tongues act10:46. Paul met some believers who had only john baptism(water)..but he laid hands on them and they were filled with the Holy Ghost and
spake with tongues:act 19:6.. U can see from the scriptures dat All not some
received the HOLY SPIRIT BAPTISM WITH D EVIDENCE OF SPEAKING IN TONGUES...the HOLY SPIRIT IS IN MEASURES
when u are born again u ave a measure..when u
re baptised u ave another measure..na The Same HOLY SPIRIT O..
I hear you, but I'm going by scriptures. 1 Corinthians 12 10 to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues.11 All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines.
It says to another and not to all as he determines.
This is the same tongues Paul spoke about in 1 Corinthians 14. Remember he talked about a speaker and an interpreter.
Christianity Etc › Re: Are You Fully Conscious When Speaking In Tongues? by sweetrace(f): 1:35pm On Dec 23, 2012
Bidam: u re wrong abt dat..just becos u had an unpleasant experience does not mean tongues re not real..ofcos as a believer we all ave d fruits of d spirit operating in our lives.
.but the gifts of the spirit is also vital in empowering us to witness to the unsaved and to exercise authority over the domain of darkness..u need to have both in order to have a balanced christian experience and that is God's desire for His Children..not having one and neglecting d other.pls get a copy of "The Holy Spirit and His Gifts" by Kenneth Hagin..the book will be a tremendous blessing..just open ur heart to scriptural truths..it is well.
She is absolutely right. The Holy spirit gives the gifts. You may sa ask for a specific gift, but the Holy Spirit knows what you need. My advice, please read 1 Corintians 14.
At Op, yes one is usually conscious. However, not every christian will speak in tongues. It is a gift given by the Holy Spirit to whomever He wants to.
In Nigeria, emphasis is placed on speaking in tongues as evidence of ones christianity, which is so baseless. They quote Acts 2:4 assuming that it must happen that way for everyone.
Meanwhile, I honestly don't know why the Pastor will say to speak in tongues to your neighbor. This is what 1 Corinthians 14:6 says about that. "Now, brothers and sisters, if I come to you and speak in tongues, what good will I be to you, unless I bring you some revelation or knowledge or prophecy or word of instruction?"
