Nollywood actress Modupe Oyekunle died in the labour room while giving birth to her third child in Abeokuta, Ogun State. She died April 4, 2017.

Modupe Oyekunle's colleague in the industry, Segun Ogungbe said Modupe bled for hours before she eventually passed on.

Segun said: '‘I was told that after she gave birth, she kept bleeding, but they could not stop the bleeding. Unfortunately, we lost her.’

Popularly known as Oyinbo because of her complexion, Modupe gave birth to a baby girl that survived.

The late actress famously played Sandra in Segun Ogungbe’s blockbuster movie Ibi Giga. She was a member of Igi Aloye caucus in Abeokuta which produced Odunlade Adekola.

Nollywood actress, Funke Abisogun died four days after giving birth.

According to filmmaker Tunde Ola-Yusuf, Funke had welcomed her baby safely only to die four days after the baby was born.

Ola-Yusuf took to social media to break the news of her death saying:

“Just days ago, people celebrated with you for the delivery of Ur baby, now the Sun set at noon and U are no more…

May God look after the new born child and give Ur husband, the family, friends of the family and the industry at large the fortitude to bear the loss.

Good night Funke Abisogun, wife of my brother Taofeek Al Hassan Abisogun.”

Funke Abisogun AlHassan was known for her roles in ‘Olowo Silee’, ‘Ajofeebo’, among others. She died October 2017.

MOJI OLAIYA

Nollywood actress Moji Olaiya died in Canada May 17, 2017 barely two months after the birth of her baby.

According to her family members in an interview

‘Moji's baby was born premature. Her EDD was for May 2017 but complications arose that necessitated that Moji be induced to save the baby’s life as well as hers.

But since the delivery in March, Moji's health had not been exactly perfect.''

On the day Moji died, around 10pm local time (3am Nigerian time) she went into a crisis. Her family member who could not hold back tears continued:

‘Her blood pressure shot up and she got unconscious. An ambulance was called to transport her to the hospital. But her case worsened and she gave up the ghost before they could make it to the hospital.’

‘Moji could not say goodbye to us, she didn’t let us hold her baby, where will her mother start from? Her death came too early, I believe this was not ordinary. This looks like a spiritual attack.’

Although she received more than 30 units of blood at the hospital, Komolafe’s health had deteriorated further before she passed on.

She was buried on January 4, 2013 in Ibadan.

Chiamaka Glory de Freitas, who got married to her Portuguese husband, Arlindo de Freitas, in 2016, lost her life during the delivery of her first child in March 2017.

The Nigerian Senate began an investigation into the cause of Mrs Chiamaka Glory De-Freitas death after Chiamaka's husband and family submitted a petition to the upper legislative chamber.

The information was that this young lady was pregnant and was admitted to a hospital in Lagos. She was said to have attended her anti-natal at the hospital and the hospital said the lady would have to undergo a caesarian operation which her husband assented to.

But after the CS operation, she continued bleeding.

Her husband (Alindo De- Freitas) asked for a referral to go to another Hospital that can handle the post-operation crisis but the first hospital refused and insisted that they would conduct an ‘expository surgery’ which the husband refused.

The first hospital conducted a second operation on this lady without her husband’s consent and after some days of continuous bleeding, she died.

The first hospital then declared that it was the husband’s fault for not consenting on time.

The heartbroken De-Freitas family charged the hospital and demanded the sum of N50 million as punitive damage against the hospital.

OLABISI MONSURAT

Lagos based movie producer, Olabisi Monsurat otherwise called Bisket died 30th of March 2019 10 days after welcoming her baby.

According to reports, she passed away at a clinic in Lagos after reportedly welcoming her 6th child at the age of 47.

She had developed complications after the birth according to reports.

Bisi was the producer of Bisola Alanu hit movie which brought Lola Margaret to limelight. Late Bisket was a member of the Theater And Motion Pictures Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN).

The woman's babies were delivered premature at 31 weeks old. Chukwunonso also suffered cardiac arrest twice after delivery before her death.

Young Aaliyah Kennedy had recently celebrated her baby shower with her friends and family members. She was extremely excited to welcome her baby boy when tragedy struck.

Reacting, the ONM, in a statement on Tuesday, by its Convener General, Ahmed Sodiq-Mugoro, advised Akpabio to come out to test his popularity in the rerun senatorial election instead of hiding behind nebulous groups to push his sinister plot to get Mr. Igini removed as Akwa Ibom State REC just because he choose to do his job without fear or favour.

The group, which decried the “win at all cost attitude of the APC, especially in Akwa Ibom State, said “in civilized world, politicians accept the outcome of free and fair elections like the one Mike Igini conducted in Akwa Ibom and they plan for future elections instaed of seeking to secure electoral victory through dubious means.”

The ONM said from reports available, Mike Igini should even be applauded by well-meaning Nigerians and promoted as a leading light in our country’s quest for credible elections, not vilified as being orchestrated by Akpabio and his ilk.

The statement read; “we read the press release by the APC Aspirants Forum in Akwa Ibom State where they had called for the removal of Mike Igini as the REC.

“It is obvious that the phony group was acting a script written by the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio. We may wish to ask the Minister why he is so afraid of Mike Igini? Since he has touted his popularity and how he won over 60,000 votes in Essien Udim, even though the official INEC accredited voters in the area is a little under 20,000 voters.

“If Akpabio is as popular as he claimed, isn’t this the time for him to come out and test his popularity?

“Isn’t this persistent call for the removal of Mike Igini making it so obvious that Akapbio knows that in a free and fair elections which REC Igini is nationally and internationally known to conduct, he (Akpabio) will fail woefully, and that is the reason he wants the REC removed so that the Minister can manipulate the process with a more amendable
REC?

“We want to bring to national and international attention, the shenanigans of the Minister and the real reason he wants Igini out.

Igini is a man of utmost integrity and honesty and the APC should stop maligning and tarnishing his hard-earned reputation.

Nigeria former Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has called on the three tiers of government in Nigeria to pay serious attention to the development of the rural communities in the country.

Okonjo-Iweala made the call on Wednesday during the 12th biennial home-coming (Ejealo 2018) and N25 million fundraiser for the construction of a craft centre at Umuda Isingwu in Umuahia North Local Government Area of Abia.

She said that no country in the world could develop without giving attention to its rural communities.

She, therefore, urged Nigerians to go back to their communities, saying “this is the only way we are going to develop the country.”

“It is not just from the federal level but we have to start from the grassroots to support the people in the village.

“Everyone, who belongs to a community has to help that community because the beginning of development in a country lies in a community,” she said.

The former minister, who was honoured on the occasion for her meritorious service to the community, expressed joy that her husband’s community recognised her.

She prayed for peace to reign in Nigeria as it geared up for the general elections, adding that God should see the nation through its difficult political period.

She said, “We want peace in the country. We want things to go well. We want lives to improve for the average Nigerians.

“We are praying that 2019 will bring good things for Nigerians.”

In an address of welcome, Mr Emmanuel Onwuegbu, the President-General of Umuda Welfare Union, said “Ejealo Festival” was a period of stocktaking in terms of the community’s socio-cultural development as a people.

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has described the defection of Senate Minority Leader, Chief Godswill Obot Akpabio, to the ruling party as the beginning of the end of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Eze, an early member of PDP and one of those who dumped the party in 2014 to become foundation members of APC, said in a statement issued to NEWSFLASHNGR.COM on Monday in Port Harcourt said that Senator Akapbio deserves commendation “for acting wisely and jumping out of the crashing PDP train before it finally crashes.”

“Knowing Akapbio very well, he is a one-man Tsunami and with him in the progressives train, PDP’s end is only a matter of time. What is more, with Akpabio now in APC , Dr. Bukola Saraki, who recently made the mistake of defecting to PDP, can be sure that his Presidency of the Senate is only a matter of weeks,” Eze said.

The former National Publicity Secretary of the defunct New PDP described the present sorry state of PDP under the control of Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State and Prince Uche Secondus as most unfortunate.

He noted that “Wike, who was a mere local government chairman in 1999, has through deft political scheming turned many key Nigerian leaders now in PDP into his disciples.”

He wondered “how great leaders like General Olusegun Obasanjo, Atiku Abubakar, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Saraki, Governor Aminu Tambwual and even Uche Secondus could stoop so low to be taking orders from Governor Wike, whose brand of politics is retrogressive.”

The lawmaker representing Bayelsa East Senatorial District, Senator Ben Murray-Bruce, has hailed former President Olusegun Obasanjo for seeking medical services within Nigeria while President Muhammadu Buhari seeks his own outside the country.

In a veiled reference to Buhari in a post on his Facebook page on Thursday, Murray-Bruce described the President as the most famous health tourist.

He wrote, “A few days ago, I was with President Obasanjo in Bayelsa where he went for his medical check-up. That is a leader who believes in Nigeria. That is a leader who loves Nigeria. Meanwhile, I hear that London would soon have a visit from one of her most famous health tourists.”

Buhari will begin a 10-day leave on Friday (today) and will attend to his health in London during the period.

Meanwhile, Murray-Bruce in a series of tweets on his Twitter handle alleged intimidation of the opposition by the Buhari-led administration and the ruling All Progressives Congress.

This is coming just as the group in a statement issued in Lagos on Monday also flayed the reports of a committee set up by the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-General Tukur Buratai dismissing the allegations of a former Minister of Defence, Lt.-General Theophilous Yakubu Danjuma (rtd.) on alleged bias by the military in series of security crisis rocking Taraba State.

“You will recollect that our group recently called for his removal owing to his activities in office, which do not suggest to us as someone who is fit and capable enough to hold that exalted office, we hasten to state therefore that his gaffe in Kano has further vindicated our position regarding his suitability for the job.

Simply put, the current IGP (as we have always stated before) is grossly and acutely incompetent.” He said in the statement made available to newsmen.

CHRSJ also commended the efforts of the reporter with Liberty Television, Mr. Aminu Nurudeen for his patriotic act in line with Sections (22) and (39) of the ‘FRN’ (1999) Constitution (as amended), saying he has demonstrated an act of uncommon bravery and that nothing untoward must happen to him and that Idris and the force would be liable should any form of infractions comes his way.

On the recently released report of the 10-man committee instituted by Buratai, Sulaiman on behalf of the group faulted an attempt by the army top hierarchy to rubbish the reputation of the Taraba State born ex-general, saying the committee was hurriedly put together as an afterthought to achieve some aims that are not nationalistic and altruistic as it was put in place to serve the interest of the authorities that constituted it.

The committee led by Major General Joseph Nimmyel (rtd) had been put in place to probe the allegations of bias leveled against the army by Danjuma, on March 24 at the convocation of Taraba State University in Jalingo.

Addressing graduating students, parents and guests at the occasion, Danjuma had said that the armed forces personnel operating in Taraba and other states of the northeast have been colluding with killers and marauding herdsmen and did not protect the people against their attackers.

Reacting to the report, Sulaiman stated that the army should address the issues raised by the former military general saying, “Everyone knows that Danjuma is not a flippant personality. He is very taciturn and not given to frivolous talk, so he is someone who talks when he feels he should talk. I think we should listen to him when he ventures to talk.”

To the group, the army has not addressed the issues raised, rather what the top hierarchy have done to try to cover the facts through the probe panel, adding “How do you see a situation whereby the proceedings of the panel had not been made opened to the public for all to see. Efforts should have been made to make the retired general state his own position of the story rather than hurriedly concocting an outcome for the committee.”

In concluding, he urged that the army should have been publicizing its operations in all the areas of its operations, saying if that had been done, it would have been easy for its position on the issues raised to be seen by the public.

“The army in recent times has not been feeding the public with the right information regarding its operations across the country.

APC Congresses: Gov. Wike-Sponsored Group Wants To Destabilize It – Chief Ikanya

The Rivers State Chapter of All Progressives Congress, APC, has uncovered plan by a group sponsored by Gov. Nyesom Wike and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to destabilize Saturday’s APC Congresses in Rivers State, adding that the group which is suspected to have some members of APC in their fold have already gone to work.

The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has described as unwise and unnecessary the recent plot by some members of the National Assembly to heighten tension in the country by tabling an impeachment threat on President Muhammadu Buhari who is doing his best to rescue the nation from the dungeon that PDP past Government kept her.

“The impeachment plot based on President Buahri’s approval for the withdrawal of $496 million from the Excess Crude Account for the purchase of 12 Super Tucano aircraft ordered from the United States aimed at rescuing the country from its present security crisis is to us an exercise in futility” the APC said in a statement issue to NEWSFLASHNGR.COM today by Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, the Media Consultant to Dr Davies Ibiamu Ikanya, the State Chairman of Rivers APC.

“The party blasts Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State who seizes any opportunity to demonstrate his disdain for both President Buhari and the APC led Government once again using this historical purchase of war Aircraft to mobilise his attack dogs in the National Assembly through his lackeys – Kingsley Chinda (House of Representatives, PDP Rivers, Obio/Akpor Constituency) and Mathew Urhoghide (Senate, PDP Edo South) to initiate this unwise impeachment process against President Buhari knowing very well that the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria have no impeachment clause in any of its section but a plot of distraction to blackmail this administration and disrupt her efforts to expose and deal with those who have looted our common patrimony with impunity.

The Rivers State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress has once again accused Governor Nyesom Wike of complicity on the soot which has continued to pollute the State , vowing that she (APC) will stop all illegal refineries and associated tools that cause soot within six months of assumption of power in 2019.

The APC in a statement by Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, the Media Consultant to Dr Davies Ibiamu Ikanya, the State Chairman of Rivers APC noted thus: “The other day, the Governor of Rivers state, Chief Nyesom Wike, in his dramatic pattern, accused the Federal Government of plotting to exterminate the Rivers population by encouraging activities that will sustain the dark, dangerous and mortal cloud on the State capital, which has become known as the dangerous soot.

He backed his emotional hypocrisy with a lot of lies, but what is not lost on the free mind and those who are not caught in the politically motivated emotional blackmail is that the Governor knows more than he has told the world.

“Ask the governor how the Federal Government had been producing and sustaining the soot, his explanation would be the seldom practice of destruction of illegal refining sites, a practice that goes on in other parts of the region, where oil theft and illegal refining of crude oil into dangerous oil products.”

Dr. Ikanya stated that it has come to the notice and understanding of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers state that the so-called crocodile tears of the Governor is just a decoy.

“Reliable discoveries have revealed that the Governor said all he said to buy cover for a well organized illegal activity going on under his nose” Ikanya said.

The statement reads: “Governor Wike knows that the deadly cloud over Port Harcourt is undoubtedly from illegal oil refining, which has been termed as ‘kpo fire’. He knows the leaders of the groups involved in this dangerous illegality, he knows them from the race to the 2015 election and he very well knows what this is all about.

The blame on the Federal Government was a mere façade. We call on Rivers State Governor, who happens to also be the Chief Security Officer of the state, to call his boys off so we can have a clean, soot-free environment.

“For the avoidance of doubts, the ‘producers’ of the dangerous cloud over Port Harcourt (soot) are Wike’s boys, whom they used to execute the 2015 elections and they have kept in a sort of security immunized zone so that they can make enough money to buy the arms and ammunition they will need to prosecute the 2019 bloodbath, since they won’t have the ‘federal might’ to fight personal wars as they used to.

“The APC in Rivers state, therefore, calls on the Governor of Rivers state to be compassionate and spare the innocent children, women, youths and men of the State capital, who do not have the sort of protection as he does, to call his agents of death off from their daily cooking of illegal crude. They should stop killing us all even before the elections come.” the party pleaded.

The party however commends the Federal Government for her concerted efforts in finding the causes of the soot and how to curtail its menace in Rivers State but reiterated that any effort without Governor Wike collaborating and assisting to call his boys to stop this evil act of operating illegal refineries will be an exercise in futility the party.

The party warns Wike to toe its line of plea for peace and sanity and avoid the plots to destroy the lives of Rivers State people because of elections as such plea should not be taken as the rattling from a disadvantaged body but as a wise counsel to prevent him from turning the State into a worse situation as he did before, during and after the 2015 general elections when he turned the State into a battle field were hundreds of innocent souls of Rivers State people were lost in the bid to install him (Wike) as the Governor of Rivers State.

The party cautions that the 2019 general elections will not be a repeat performance of 2015 general elections where he used the militants to execute his evil plots against democracy and good governance in Rivers State the party concluded.
