The executive governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano yesterday paid a condolence visit to the family of Sir Emeka Offor in Oraifite, Ekwusigo local government area of the State over the death of his father, Pa Bennett Offor. Read and see more photos below…Noting that it is customary for Ndi Igbo to mourn with their brothers as well as celebrate lives well spent, governor Obiano described Pa Offor, as a man who lived a good life whose virtues inspire his children and children’s children.“Emeka is a great friend who lost a good father… On behalf of Ndi Anambra and my family, I came to sympathize with you,” governor Obiano said. I slept early last night, no thanks to the stress of Lagos. I usually wake up quite early to catch up with latest happenings in the country before heading into another round of traffic stress. Continue reading here>>>http://www.newsflashngr.com/index.php/2016/11/20/goodluck-jonathan-rented-sokoto-crowd-onyebuchi-ememanka/ Early this morning as I scanned through facebook, I saw viral pictures of the visit of former President Goodluck Jonathan to Sokoto. He came to the caliphate to sympathize with the Dasuki family over the death of the Late Sultan Ibrahim Dasuki who was the father of his National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki who is currently in detention. There was a huge crowd that received him with placards asking for his “return”. I found that very intriguing. In the north? In Sokoto? Asking an “infidel” to return to power? This is serious indeed. As I scanned through the comments made by people, I stumbled on one which suggested that the event was a carefully arranged political gimmick meant to create a wrong impression. That got me thinking and I asked myself a number of questions. Why would GEJ rent a crowd in Sokoto of all places? What will be his objective by so doing? Is he running for any office? Is there any election? Sokoto is a state ruled by an APC Governor. Who would have arranged the rented crowd? Who will fund it? In the pictures, you will even find Officers of the state local agencies. Dasuki is in jail and incommunicado. He couldn’t even attend the funeral of his father. He must be overcome with deep grief and I think renting a crowd or pulling off anything political will be the last thing on his mind right now. Even for a fully grown man, the death of a father breaks him down. The answer is simple. Across the country, there is huge disenchantment with the government of President Buhari and his party, the APC. People are hungry, tired and frustrated. I say this with a deep sense of responsibility. I supported and voted for Buhari but in all of my adult life, I have never seen people this hungry before. Even for me with a fairly stable job and a steady pay, I am struggling to cope with the spiraling inflation which has made a complete nonsense of my pay. In the last eight months, my expenditure has gone up by more than 100% yet the salary remains the same. If someone like me whose salary has never been delayed for a second in the last seven years is complaining, then you can imagine what people who salaries are not even paid are going through. There is hunger in the land. Our economy has gone to the gutters. Our money has lost value. Businesses are crumbling. Companies are closing down. The forex market is crazy. I have a friend who deals on bags somewhere in Surulere. We worship in the same church. I buy bags from him. In September, I had gone to his shop to buy school bags for my kids. When I got there, I thought I had missed the address and I had to check again to be sure I was at the right place. The shop was practically empty. The guy himself wore a forlorn look. This was a shop that brimmed with goods. I even asked him to look for a bigger shop because it was hard moving inside to look for bags to buy. What happened, i asked him with deep concern. My Ballista, he responded with his deep Anambra accent, this country is finished. No money to buy anything again. No dollar. If you buy dollar at 370( that was the price then), how much will you sell your goods, who will buy? If this thing continues, I will have to return home. “Ballista, mmadu ya anakwa virrage o, ighoyato?” Sincerely, I was deeply heartbroken. That is how bad it is. That is the story of most small and medium size businesses in Nigeria today. It’s even worse for workers whose salary values have been rendered completely useless by inflation. Then for those who are owed, it’s pure hell. I sincerely wonder how people eat these days. States are broke. Oil revenues are going down by the day. International crude prices have plummeted, then on account of militant activities in the Niger Delta, our production has gone down. Money is in short supply. States are not getting enough and can’t fund even the most basic needs of their people. In Nigeria today, only three states out of 36 are stable financially. This is complete disaster indeed. Buhari’s approach to the Niger Delta question has been an absolute disaster. Yaradua saw this same situation and applied deep wisdom and things got better. Take it or leave it, Buhari’s plan is not working. Pushing soldiers into the region is not the answer. It failed before and will fail and fail again. Every problem in this world is not solved by a military solution. For as long as we rely on oil to run this country, we must evolve a workable solution to handle issues of the Niger Delta. Even with a crumbling economy, there is insecurity. Across the country, people live in fear. From marauding and blood thirsty Fulani herdsmen in the South East, militancy in the Niger Delta, Boko Haram in the North East, Shia Muslims clash in the North West, Nigeria has become a huge battle field with an endless spilling of blood. Last week, over 20 Shia Muslims were gunned down by the police in Kaduna. The Shias have never had it so bad in this country. With their leader, El Zak Zakky in detention without trial, close to 100 of their members have been killed in the last one year. These people have existed for several years before now. They have had their procession over the years without any incident. What has changed? Fulani herdsmen have always been with us from time immemorial. How come they suddenly became killers who carry weapons of war and extermination? Under GEJ, the only security issue we had was Boko Haram. The Niger Delta was calm and oil production was proceeding well, albeit, at a huge cost. But pipelines and oil installations were not bombed. Money was coming in, though what it was used for is another issue. I have asked what the economic policy of Buhari is exactly. That question has not been answered. What is the definite forex policy of this government? Few days ago, security agencies raided and arrested currency dealers. How will that help the market? On the political front, the APC has been a comprehensive disaster. A party that enjoys huge majority in both chambers of the National Assembly now behaves like an opposition party? Presidential communications are thrown out like rotten meat. There is no cohesion anywhere. Everything appears to be in sixes and sevens. Within the APC, there is common ground on anything. In the eyes of Buhari, every other person is a thief. Two days ago, the Edo State House of Assembly approved a 300 million Naira house as parting gifts for Oshiomhole and his deputy. This is in addition to a pension for life. These things are enough to cause deep emotional disequilibrium in the mind of the average hungry Nigerian. You were Governor for eight years with all the perks of office and you leave with so much yet people who worked for 35 years can’t event get the pittance they are entitled to as pension. I could go on and on. Continue reading here>>>http://www.newsflashngr.com/index.php/2016/11/20/goodluck-jonathan-rented-sokoto-crowd-onyebuchi-ememanka/

Barry Mpigi should never have shown the dexterity of a wizened political gladiator. But he did and for good measure too. He took Oyigbo against the wish of Governor Nyesom Wike, conquered his home base and set his sights firmly on the battle for the political soul of Eleme. Barry didn’t end there. Like a Spartan, Barry drowned attempts to deny him of his hard won victory in Tai when Wike and his cronies encamped against INEC in a bid to stop the commission from accepting the final result. Many fans of Magnus Abe say Abe is able. Abe has stood up to Wike and the PDP more than any one else. More than any of APC’s senatorial candidates who are fighting to edge out opponents sponsored by Wike, Abe appears more certain of victory. In the fight against Wike in the Rivers South East, Abe has more than 35000 unadulterated votes. This has left Olaka Nwogu and his backers gasping for air. Do you really need to look too far to understand why Wike has being on the tail of Abe and Barry? Wike must have dreams that hurt whenever he thinks of Barry Mpigi. Wike used to describe Barry as a general when he worked with Amaechi. When the rebellion against Amaechi was hatched in the Jonathan era, Barry was apparently one of the favourites Wike had hoped to net. That didn’t happen. So you can understand why Wike wants so very much to put Barry in harm’s way; why Barry is accused of murder; and why Wike has ordered his Attorney General to commence proceedings against one who was once a friend of his. On the drawing board, it appears Wike has come to one conclusion. To stop Abe, he either needs to inconvenience Barry or simply lock him away as he did to Ojukaye Amachree. What a world we live in folks! Can all this be politics? Strangely Barry is accused of killing a woman. Strangely too, the move against Barry is coming as he prepares for the Eleme vote which may not deter his march forward. But which may give Abe an extra boost. Life is valuable. Nobody, no matter how privileged, has a right to take the life of another. If that’s the point Wike is trying to make, it is understandable. It would however, be counter productive if truth is set aside in search of shadows; if a government would go out of the way to target citizens who have committed no crime. That won’t be right. We have a state for instance, that wears the look of Golgotha. Human skulls have been heartlessly placed on our roadsides like decorations. Mutilated bodies which paint gory images have been tossed around by the way side like unwanted wastes. Whole families have equally been wiped away under our very noses while some villages have been sacked and our people sent packing by gun-crazy hitmen. Those responsible for these atrocities have not been brought to justice. Maybe, they are unknown civilians, apologies to late Fela Anikulakpo who sang about the Unknown Soldier. Barry didn’t do it. Otherwise he would not be walking free since that incident. Why now? Can this really be politics? Try as I can, I still can’t understand what our politics has turned to. The gubernatorial elections have come and gone. Government has been formed and the governor needs not be a governor of the PDP. He simply should be the governor of all, a governor who brings everybody together under one roof and a governor who acts like the good shepherd. This is not meant to be a viltrolic attack on Wike. It is a mere advice. Time is ticking. The world is watching. The Rivers people are waiting too. continue reading here>>>http://www.newsflashngr.com/index.php/2016/11/19/wikes-offensive-barry-ogbonna-nwuke-must-read/

The Rivers State Chapter of All Progressives Congress said its attention has been drawn to a press statement by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Rivers State signed by Jerry Needam on behalf of the PDP State Chairman, Felix Obuah strenuously but unjustifiably trying to convey the impression that APC sent thugs to invade Government House, Port Harcourt under the protection of a certain Assistant Commissioner of Police. Continue reading here>>>http://www.newsflashngr.com/index.php/2016/11/19/pdp-blackmail-apc-begs-nigerian-police-arrest-felix-obuah-immediately/ The APC in a statement signed by its spokeman, Chris Finebone said the “press release is mendacious and the height of abuse of free speech by a political party. There have been very ludicrous statements by the PDP over the years but this particular statement exposes Rivers State Chapter of PDP as a group totally bereft of any dint of moral endowment.” The statement reads: “While not speaking for the Rivers State Police Command, we believe that the official press statement by the Command lucidly captures the true position of what transpired when the police clearly stated that the APC behaved more maturely by hearkening to the advice of the Police regarding their original intention to match to the Rivers State House of Assembly. “The APC believes that the poisoned arrows the PDP is now shooting at the Nigeria Police are misplaced, undeserved, unnecessary and borne out of debilitating frustration having danced naked in the ever dicey arena of the general public.“A careful reflection in the mirror by Felix Obuah, Nyesom Wike and his ragtag PDP band will remind them a thing or two. However, it is important to remind the PDP that APC, as a party, has no special dealings with any police officer the way Nyesom Wike as Minister for Education used the then R/S Police Commissioner, Mbu Joseph Mbu to harass, harangue and assault the then Rivers State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi during the better-forgotten years of former President Goodluck Jonathan. “From a distance, the APC can justifiably conclude that what the PDP in Rivers State is doing today is cheap pedestrian blackmail against the Nigeria Police and the APC. Gov Wike and his PDP must know that the train has long left the station. We wish he understands. Indeed what Gov. Wike and the PDP are suffering from at the moment is the inescapable but unfounded fear of ones shadows. “The APC wishes to call on the Nigeria Police to ignore the distraction by the confused PDP buccaneers in Rivers State. The APC believes that Gov. Nyesom Wike and the PDP know that the APC does not play nor does it, as a party, intend to indulge in the kind of ignoble and despicable activities the governor, as Minister of Education under former President Goodluck Jonathan, engaged in with the former Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Mbu Joseph Mbu especially to harass, harangue and assault the former Rivers State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi during the better-forgotten years of the Jonathan administration. In his characteristic unconventional approach to governance and the art of making his people happy, Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose on Thursday hit some streets of Ado Ekiti with birthday goodies as part of activities marking the celebration of his 56th birthday, NEWSFLASHNGR can exclusively report. More photos here>>>>>>>http://www.newsflashngr.com/index.php/2016/11/18/exclusive-photos-governor-fayose-celebrated-birthday-streets-ado-ekiti-thursday/ With market women and passers-by shouting Oshoko… Oshoko…as they trooped out to celebrate with him, Mr. Fayose asked his well wishers to line up in orderly manner as he sliced and shared the cake amongst them with a little cash for coke to drive it down. Reacting to the unusual development, governor Fayose said it is only right for him to give back to the same people who voted him into office. He said “It is a show of love to my people, we can’t sit in the government house and enjoy the comfort of the office without remembering them, I got a lot of gifts on my birthday, cakes, yam tubers, cows, rice and so on, how many can I eat? How many clothes can I wear at a time?“It is just normal, just good for me to go back to the street and give it back to the people that put me in the government house, this is my style, this is me naturally, just that this time around it is more elaborate moving from one junction to the other to ensure about 500 persons per junction get something small on my birthday.“The more people you can touch, the better for your life today and tomorrow, these are the set of people that will never walk into the government house asking for contract, asking for help, they will not even be allowed to get in unless the governor leave the comfort of his office to come and meet with them wherever they are and that is exactly what I am doing.“These are the people that employed us into the office, they should not be abandoned for one minute, we must stay with them continuously at every opportunity”. There is no impeachment moves against the speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Monday Igbuya, says Henry Ovie, his Chief Press Secretary. A statement from the office of the speaker distanced the members of the assembly from the impeachment rumour and described the members as highly responsible and patriotic individuals who are more concerned with the peaceful co-existence and development of the state than heating up the polity, as it is being insinuated by a section of the media. The statement signed by Henry and made available to NEWSFLASHNGR also came hard on some journalists in the state, urging them not to turn the state into a battle field but to engage themselves in constructive and productive journalism. He urged them to stop cheapening the profession by publishing unworthy news items and using unprintable words in their publications. “The Rt. Hon Speaker did not exchange blow with any staff” The Chief Press Secretary accused some media practitioners of working tooth and nail with some detractors to cause disaffection and disunity within the state. “The Delta State House of Assembly is not a home for blackmailers, opportunists and hooligans” He described the allegation of inexperience, corruption, high handedness and inability to lead the house as “unimaginable, unthinkable and cheap propaganda by enemies of the state.Ebireri said some media practitioners and their sponsors were executing a plan to discredit the speaker. He fired shot at those saying Igbuya is bringing the house into disrepute and ridicule, describing the view as an irresponsible vendetta. The chief press secretary also accused some journalists of resorting to cheap blackmail and blatant lies in the agitation of the assembly workers. He praised Igbuya for his dynamic leadership, outstanding contribution and commitment to the development of the state. He commended him for stamping his unique leadership style in the management of the assembly and the steps that are essential to the future of the house. “His life is a flowing tribute of excellence. His leadership style has earned him the gratitude and admiration of many while his conviction and willingness to speak out with a clear voice make him the best House of Assembly Speaker in the history of Delta State” he said. “The Rt. Hon Speaker has helped to reshape legislative duties in the state. His outstanding leadership is appreciated by Deltans from all walks of life” He assured the good people of Delta State that Igbuya would not be distracted in his assigned role of developing the state and working for the prosperity agenda of the Okowa administration. “Chief Monday Igbuya has never acted against the interests of the members and the state. He will continue to play his role in the development of the non-oil sector, creation of wealth, reduction of youth unemployment, rapid infrastructural development and inclusive economic growth” Ebireri said. He advised Mister Speaker to disregard the antics of blackmailers. “Igbuya, a legislator so committed to the ideal of a better society and to the welfare of the down trodden, stands very tall in Nigeria as a man of great moral rectitude” he added. Governor Nyesom Wike is to be blamed for the failure to pay Rivers State civil servants, pensioners and contractors, the State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has said. The party in a statement signed by the State Chairman, Dr. Davies Ibiamu Ikanya, said it would be wrong to lay the blame at the doorstep of President Muhammadu Buhari and the APC-led Federal Government. “We as a political party truly sympathise with Rivers civil servants, pensioners and contractors over their current travails. However, we wish to disagree with insinuations in some quarters in the state that President Muhammadu Buhari and the APC-led Federal Government are responsible for this unfortunate situation. The truth is that Governor Wike and his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are solely responsible for the woes of Rivers workers, retires and contractors, by refusing to pay them for the past eight months,” Rivers APC said in the statement issued on Monday in the state capital, Port Harcourt. The statement noted that Rivers State presently collects the highest revenue from the Federation Account each month. “Apart from this, Rivers generates the highest Internal Revenue after Lagos and Kano states. In addition, Wike has borrowed a whopping sum of N150 million since he assumed office on May 29, last year without anything tangible as an achievement to show for all these funds so far collected,” Rivers APC said. The party lamented: “Sadly, Wike has squandered all these funds on things that have little or nothing to do with the good of Rivers State and its people. Rather than to pay civil servants, pensioners and contractors, he has chosen to waste scarce resources on hosting all manner of conferences, sponsoring PDP candidates running for election in other states; hosting failed PDP conventions; promotion of bloodbath, insecurity and associated evils in Rivers State and bribing people everywhere. He prefers spending the money he should use to pay salaries and uplift the lives of Rivers state people and prefers to flex muscles with Abuja in his bid to be seen as the PDP leader in the country.” Rivers APC advised the people of the state to stop suffering in silence but to continuously demand good governance from the ill-prepared Wike administration and to hold it fully responsible for the monumental suffering which he has inflicted on the people of the state since he bulldozed his way into the Government House. The rerun election coming up on 10th December, 2016 is an appropriate opportunity for the Rivers State people to express their anger on this misfortune and ill-prepared administration of Chief Nyesom Wike by voting against PDP Candidates. By Miss Monica Ada C. Eze Intro: Agha Hasan Abedi also known as Agha Sahab a Pakistani banker and philanthropist who founded the Bank of Credit and Commerce International in 1972 may have had Engr Dave Umahi the action Governor of Ebonyi State in mind when he stated and I quote, “The conventional definition of management is getting work done through people, but real management is developing people through work.” Source>>>>http://www.newsflashngr.com/index.php/2016/11/13/ebonyi-efccs-futile-misadventure-vs-governor-umahis-financial-wizardry-prudence/ If one critically examine the revolution currently going in Ebonyi State one can easily conclude that Engr Umahi specializes in developing people through assigning to them tasks that go a long way in assisting in developing Ebonyi State and her people. On the other hand, President Barack Obama of USA may also have Ebonyi State in mind when he stated, “I put forward a budget of what I called “middle-class economics” that continues to be fiscally prudent but makes necessary investments for us to continue the economic momentum and job growth.” This great quote by this outstanding leader of the world aptly applies to Ebonyi State because it is only the result of budget prudence and financial wizardry of a leader like Engr Dave Nweze Umahi could be embarking upon the type of current infrastructure revolution going on in the State that dwarfs the feats of all the past administrations in Ebonyi State put together and still decide to not only increase the salaries and emolument of staff and entitlements of Pensioners but to pay such on 15th of every month at a period of recession when most States in Nigeria are owing their staff months of unpaid salaries. Before I divulge into the main issues of this attempt and for avoidance of doubt this treatise is not to praise the Ebonyi State Government but strictly aimed to examine critically the financial prudence of the Umahi’s administration and the current celebration in some quarters of the visit and operation of EFCC in the State. As a concerned daughter of Ebonyi state not necessarily as the Technical Assistant on Media to Governor Umahi, I decided to task myself to unearth for you, the reader, the public and our people in Diaspora the futility or otherwise of the recent EFCC venture into Ebonyi State at this particular time and to appeal to Ebonyi State people not to be disillusioned or disenchanted in any way or feel intimidated by propagandists whose Umahi’s pragmatic leadership have become a source of misery to them and their sponsors. On 9th November, 2016,I observed that the main discussion going on in most parts of Ebonyi State was the operation of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) carried out in the state and reflected by the Sun Newspaper and other dailies’ including the Social Media of this day alleging that EFCC has sealed Governor Umahi’s private properties. Sadly, I also noticed with misgiving on this fateful day, the wide jubilation and celebration over this operation within the ranks and circles of some misguided and disgruntled opposition politicians whose disdain for the ongoing revolution by the Umahi’s administration is well known. Having said all these, you can now understand my goal in this treatise. Permit me therefore to present to you the main issues of this attempt. John Milton (1608-1674) an English poet defined prudence as “Prudence is the virtue by which we discern what is proper to do under various circumstances in time and place” and this properly explains aptly the happenings in Ebonyi state but to understand and appreciate the mission of Governor Dave Nweze Umahi in the politics of Ebonyi State, and Nigeria at large, his mission statement must come to play. It states: “My mission is to enhance the welfare of our people, and empower all Ebonyians to be self-reliant, through the compassionate delivery of transparent and God-fearing governance, based on integrity and dignity.” With this, I will attempt to explain that the venture of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) that deals with criminality and misappropriation of public funds into Ebonyi State, during the reign of this God-fearing man must be a venture that was misplaced. In achieving a prudent management of the scarce funds available to Ebonyi State, a serious woman of God, Dr (Pastor) Queen Agwu, was appointed as the State Accountant-General, with Dr Dennis Ude Ekumankama a very forthright fellow as the Commissioner of Finance, and Dr Ignatius Unah as the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry. With these trio financial wizards, Ebonyians can be rest-assured that their funds are not only safe but will be utilised to achieve the vision and mission of the David of our time. Accordingly, the Vision of the ministry is so explicitly on the vision of the Governor. “The vision of the ministry is the integration and implementation of fiscal and developmental policies and programmes of the state government.” Under this administration, and to ensure accountability, transparency and improved revenue collection, the governor gave the Board of Internal Revenue a full autonomy, not minding that most states in Nigeria can’t pay salaries because of the result of the recession in Nigeria. But under the Umahi regime the case in Ebonyi State is totally different. The Ebonyi State workers’ salaries are now paid on or before 15th of every month, in line with His Excellency, the state governor’s directive. Other genuine claims like leave allowance of the workers are paid regularly. Gratuities and pension benefits of retired officers are now paid monthly along side with the salaries. The ministry’s in-built checks and controls system through posting of internal auditors and other mechanisms have made the state government financial transaction in ministries/ departments more in line with budget provisions and financial laws. This, no doubt, is the policy trust of the present administration on transparency, accountability and quality service delivery. In budget implementation, we have ensured that contractor’s certificates are paid timely and that fund voted for a particular project is strictly applied for the purpose. Over head releases are on monthly basis and regular too. That has given a boost to ministries and non-ministerial departments in carrying out their recurrent activities. Financial reporting has been improved upon. At present, there is no arrears of the State Annual Accounts. The Office of the Accountant-General introduced e-revenue and salary in the state. This salary automation ensures that each staff pays the correct tax, because this has been factored into the software. Today, Ebonyi State is referred to as one huge construction site with three solid flyovers almost completed and to capture what is happening in Ebonyi State more aptly, Engr Babachir Lawal, a chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) said it all: “Well, I cannot in all honesty understand how these works have been achieved within this short time and, indeed, in the climate of dire economic shortages of government. I am impressed that you (Dave Umahi) were able to do these works within the cost you mentioned. I can, in all honesty, tell you that the work is far beyond the cost. Now, this is a standard for other states and the Federal Government to emulate. To me, Governor Umahi is one of the few persons who believe that meagre resources could be used to achieve much, if we remove greed, which breeds corruption. Without mincing words, Umahi, is better than some governors in my own party, the APC.” Before going further on this treatise, let me unequivocally and unambiguously state that EFCC’s Establishment Act mandates the EFCC to combat financial and economic crimes. The commission is empowered to prevent, investigate, prosecute and penalise economic and financial crimes, and is charged with the responsibility of enforcing the provisions of other laws and regulations relating to economic and financial crimes. It is a fact that EFCC based on the above definition of its operations and establishment is free to visit and investigate any act they perceive criminal or illegal which may have caused they visit to Ebonyi State as reflected in the Sun Newspaper and other dailies’ publication of 9th November, 2016 alleging that EFCC has sealed Governor Umahi’s private properties. The above notwithstanding, i wish to correct the erroneous impression as reflected in some of these dailies that ‘EFCC has sealed Governor Umahi’s private properties’. I accept the fact that an “under investigation” sign was placed on Orsbon La Palm Hotel and Brass Filling stations, and some other properties assumed to belong to Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State, because of the alleged misappropriation of N400 million released by Col Sambo Dasuki (retd), National Security Adviser (NSA) to former President Goodluck Jonathan, for the 2015 general elections in Ebonyi State but the above notwithstanding, i wish to state clearly that placing an ‘Investigation order’ on the said properties is not the same as sealing the properties. Sealing the properties in a lay man’s language entails closing these business outlets for business transactions with the public, which is not the case in this regard. I will like to reiterate, all the same, that these properties under investigation were acquired by Governor Umahi as a private citizen, when he was outside the government and have nothing to do with any release either from Dasuki or any government source and, therefore, it is erroneous on the side of EFCC to place an investigation order on a property duly acquired legally by Umahi when he was not in government. Third, and very importantly, the EFCC’s action amounts to nothing since Engr Dave Umahi resigned his directorship and ownership of all his business empire since assumption of office as deputy governor of Ebonyi State in 2011. This act, therefore, becomes laughable for some group of people to assume that Umahi’s properties were sealed by EFCC, as his office – both as a one-time deputy governor and currently as the Governor of Ebonyi State – does not permit him to own or run any other business, except that of government. However, it is important to note that Umahi, by the grace of God through the mandate given to him by the great people of Ebonyi State, is the incumbent executive Governor of Ebonyi State. Therefore, he enjoys immunity, as provided for in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and, as a result, can’t be under probe while in office. Those celebrating of the unwarranted attacks on our amiable and performing governor are celebrating in vain, as God who granted him this grace to serve his people will surely protect him from every visible and invisible attack. Having said all these, let me reiterate that as law-abiding citizens, and very supportive of President Muhammadu Buhari’s fight against corruption, which is a major challenge to the development and emancipation of our nation, the Umahi’s administration will support the EFCC to the best of her abilities to carry out its statutory duties. Even so, we wish to appeal to them to follow due process and respect the rights of our people and not give in to the antics of politicians who do not see any good in our efforts to bring the dividends of democracy to our people. For us in the present administration under Umahi, prudence and proper distribution of the scarce funds at our disposal is our hallmark; and we have no skeleton in our cupboard. Our doors are always open to the EFCC and any other organ of government to beam its searchlight on us at anytime. To us, it makes no meaning that the EFCC could paste information on the properties they felt belonged to our governor, because we are convinced that at the end of the day both Umahi and his associates will be vindicated. Umahi doesn’t need any distraction but support at this time to enable him focus on his mission and vision for Ebonyi State The Governor’s reaction to those asking him to resign based on the EFCC’s visit suffices here: “my government will not be distracted from delivering democracy dividends to Ebonyians. These elements attacking me lack credibility in all fronts to have the moral justification to beam a searchlight on me and my administration as their past is full of corruptive tendencies. I am happy that the public know that these elements have nothing positive to offer to our state bur are agents whose primary desire is to truncate the existing peace in our State and discredit my government. The good thing is that the people of Ebonyi who gave their mandate to me to exercise on their behalf would “never allow agents of the devil to have their negative desires come to pass. These desperate agents were those involved openly selling empowerment forms to unemployed youths of Ohaukwu LGA claiming that it was a Federal Government directive. The good thing is that my government had intervened by empowering over 4,500 unemployed youths and women of Ebonyi State and provided the sum of N250,000 to them to embark on business of their choice”. Conclusion finally, let me appeal to our people in Ebonyi and those in the Diaspora to continue to exercise faith in this administration, as we are determined to make a difference this time around, and to make our state a reference point in the annals of governance in Nigeria. For those who are hell-bent on distracting the governor by cooking up lies against him, we appeal to them to exercise caution so that posterity will not be too harsh on them. Miss Monica Ada C. Fayose Cries Out, The Cabals Are At It Again – Justice Onnoghen May Not Be Nigeria’s Substantive CJN sOURCE>>>>http://www.newsflashngr.com/index.php/2016/11/13/fayose-cries-cabals-justice-onnoghen-may-not-nigerias-substantive-cjn/ Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has raised the alarm over possibility of preventing Justice Walter Nkanu Onnoghen from becoming the substantive Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), saying his appointment as Acting CJN was “either a grand plot to deprive him of his well-deserved appointment as CJN because he is from the South-South region or those cabals in the Aso Rock Presidential Villa want to hold him in the jugular, using his confirmation as substantive CJN to get him to assist them to pervert justice.” In a statement issued to NEWSFLASHNGR in Ado-Ekiti by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, Governor Fayose said it was strange that despite that the National Judicial Council (NJC) recommended only Justice Onnoghen to President Muhammadu Buhari for appointment as the CJN in line its rules, since October 13, 2018, his name was not sent to the Senate for confirmation. The governor said that this is the first time Nigeria is having an acting CJN for the first time in its history despite that Justice Onnoghen’s name was sent to President Muhammadu Buhari early enough. He said; “As at the time the NJC recommended Justice Onnoghen to President Buhari, it was 28 clear days to the November 10, 2016 retirement date of Justice Mahmud Mohammed. “Why then was his (Justice Onnoghen) name not sent to the Senate for confirmation? Why appointing him as Acting CJN when his name should have been sent to the Senate between October 13, 2016 that he was recommended to the president and November 10, 2016 that Justice Mahmud Mohammed retired? “Obviously, there is more to this acting CJN appointment than meet the eyes and in my opinion, it could be that President Buhari never wanted Justice Onnoghen as a substantive CJN because he is from the South-South or that they want to use his pending appointment as substantive CJN to make him do their biddings.” He lamented that “They have subdued the national assembly and are now in the last stage of muscling democracy by subduing the judiciary. “If men of good conscience, especially leading lights in the legal profession refuse to raise their voices against this tyranny, they will all be consumed by the tyrant.” Governor Fayose, who said playing politics with the judiciary, especially at the CJN level was dangerous to the survival of democracy, urged Justice Onnoghen to do his job without fear or favour, “bearing in mind that it is only God that put people in positions.” “I am sure those who made sure Justice Onnoghen’s name was not sent to the Senate for confirmation until the tenure of Justice Mahmud Mohammed expired knew what they were doing. They obviously needed a situation where the CJN, being in acting capacity will be subservient to them, using his appointment as substantive CJN as bait. “However, Justice Onnoghen must live above that temptation of wanting to be the substantive CJN at the expense of strict adherence to the rule of law and principles of democracy. “He must resist any attempt to further gag the judiciary even if that will cost him his appointment as the substantive CJN,” the governor said. sOURCE>>>>http://www.newsflashngr.com/index.php/2016/11/13/fayose-cries-cabals-justice-onnoghen-may-not-nigerias-substantive-cjn/

Chidinma Okeke Cucumber S*X Scandal Is Getting Dicey: Heads Will Definitely Roll, Now See What DSS Is Currently Working On Source>>>http://www.newsflashngr.com/index.php/2016/11/12/chidinma-okeke-cucumber-sx-scandal-getting-dicey-heads-will-definitely-roll-now-see-dss-currently-working-uche-nworah-replies/ Ladies and gentlemen, Uche Nworah has just released a blurred contract document which Chidinma Okeke signed with ABS. This is the same document he initially refused to release. What Mr Nworah did say is why the contract was signed after Chidinma won the beauty contest. Meanwhile, I am glad that DSS has stepped in. Chidinma Okeke has been interrogated by DSS. Uche Nworah has also told the DSS all he knows about the mess. Our own Aisha Edward has equally petitioned the DSS. APGA Interactive Forum therefore urges the DSS to do just and prosecute anyone found culpable. Here is what Uche Nworah stated as his position on the scandal. Read below… There is an Igbo saying that the more you repeat a lie, at some point people may begin to believe that it is the truth. On this former Miss Anambra s3x scandal, the management of the Anambra Broadcasting Service had previously released a press statement disassociating the organisation from it. We still stand on that statement. We have also made statements on the matter to the law enforcement authorities. We understand that Miss Chidinma Okeke has also made statements to the law enforcement authorities so we eagerly await their findings. It is however important that I correct certain statements that are being made on this forum and in other fora especially concerning the interview Miss Chidinma Okeke granted the Nation newspaper today. There appears to be an agenda to push falsehood to the public and in so doing malign me and the Anambra Broadcasting Service over a matter that we know nothing about. It appears that our silence over the matter, except the press statement we issued earlier is now being exploited by those who are bent on using the Miss Anambra s3x scandal to settle political scores in Anambra state. It would also appear that Miss Chidinma Okeke has become a pawn in a larger politically motivated conspiracy. The ABS as a socially responsible organisation fulfilled to the letter every part of the contract signed with Miss Chidinma Okeke, former Miss Anambra. This includes paying ALL her prize money of the sum of one million Naira only. This was paid in instalments in line with the contract. An initial sum of N500, 000 was paid to her after she signed her contract and the balance of N500,000 was paid in N50,000 instalments over a 10 month period. She collected her last installment of N50,000 on the 11th of October 2016, the day she handed over the crown to the organisers. We have records of her signing for all the payments. We had to take the measure of inviting the former Miss Anambra to the office on this date as that was the day an anonymous individual had forwarded the videos to myself and some other persons I do not know accusing the former queen of being a l.esb!ian. The person said he was in possession of such similar videos numbering over 10 allegedly showing the former queen in l.esb!ian acts, as well as her friends in the l.esb!ian video performing s3xual acts with men. Details of these WhatsApp messages have been made available to the law enforcement authorities. We took this decision as we did not want the brand to be smeared with such a scandal as contained in Clause 1 of the contract. After the handover of the crown by Miss Chidinma Okeke to the Miss Anambra project executives in the presence of the ABS management in the office of the ABS MD/CEO, I dismissed all the other members of the management with the exception of the ABS lawyer and one of the Miss Anambra project executives. I went on to show Miss Chidinma Okeke the videos I had received that day from the anonymous individual and the messages from the person, I then asked her if she had any knowledge of the video and she said yes. I advised her to go home and confide in her family. I have not seen nor spoken to her since that day as I do not know her whereabouts. Miss Chidinma Okeke was not forced to sign the contract under duress as alleged, rather a certain Nwakonobi Ifeanyi who is married to her sister and acting as her guardian co-signed with her after they had taken the contract home, studied and consulted over it. As a respectable pageant, we have certain rules and regulations guiding participation in the pageant and conduct of the queen during her reign. During her one year reign, we supported Miss Chidinma Okeke the very best way we could including sponsoring her to represent Nigeria in the Miss Intercontinental pageant which held in Frankfurt Germany in December 2015. We sponsored her alongside one of the contestants who represented São Tomé. This was our way of creating opportunities for them and opening doors to international fame and modeling. Though not stated in the contract but we also secured a free unlimited one year business class return tickets to any destination in Nigeria for her and her chaperon from one of our airline sponsors. There is no iota of truth in the allegation that ABS is blackmailing Chidinma Okeke over monies realised at her birthday party. As our reigning queen, we organised a birthday party for her and used the occasion to present to the public her pet project. The event was co-sponsored by her uncle who was also at the event alongside veteran Nollywood actor, Sir Obi Okoli who did not stay till the end. Miss Chidinma Okeke and her uncle can testify that no money was realised at the event as it was not a fund raising. Rather, the guests that spoke encouraged her with words. The Miss Anambra Beauty Pageant platform is indeed a wonderful one. There is nothing wrong with the pageant. We have had winners and participants on the platform who have gone on to do big things in their lives and modeling careers. The pageant is solely private sector funded. The state government does not sponsor the pageant so please do not believe the false story that the Anambra state government spends millions of Naira sponsoring the pageant. If you live in Awka or Anambra state, you will confirm that it is usually a big event which generates a lot of excitement and buzz. As an organisation, the pageant generates entertainment content and some revenue for the ABS. From the audition to the final event itself, the contestants are treated with the highest respect, courtesy and dignity. They sign a document detailing dos and donts and pledge to be of good conduct and behaviour both during camp and during the reign of the eventual winner. In the past, the organisers have had to dismiss some finalists from camp for misconduct, one for giving her number out to a hotel guest where they are camped and another for being rude to fellow contestants and the chaperon. The pageant is judged to the highest standard. The judges are usually former acclaimed national beauty queens and showbiz personalities. The pageant overall is managed by a Pageant Creative Director who is a former Miss Nigeria. We take every care to ensure that we deliver a good show every year. There are no preconditions of appearing in a s3x video to contest in the Miss Anambra pageant. We have had hundreds of contestants on the pageant and they can testify to that. It makes no sense to try to blame the organisers over an act that is as a result of one’s folly and greed. If perhaps the said Miss Chidinma Okeke fell victim to conmen who tricked her into believing that she will win a beauty pageant if she appears in a s3x video, if she goes ahead and participates in the said video and the conmen turn around to blackmail her and extort money from her with the s3x video, how can I or the ABS be blamed for that? Did the other participants and contestants on the show suffer the same fate? Regarding the issue of the Miss Anambra vehicle, in line with clause 10 of the contract, the vehicle is an official car which the organisers reserve the right to withdraw at the end of the queen’s reign. It does appear that the issue of the car is what concerns the former queen the most as statements to the media by her father, and even text messages to me and discussions from people from her camp suggest so but clearly as can be seen from the contract, the ABS acted as per contract signed. It is obvious that those who have been at the forefront pushing this falsehood and allegation that I, Uche Nworah or the ABS has anything to do with this have ulterior motives. In this day and age of social media, it is now easy for anybody to manufacture falsehood and post on social media for the unsuspecting public to read, like and share but in the end truth triumphs. Miss Anambra Cucumber S*X Scandal: Is ABS Awka Using Miss Anambra Pageantry As Commercial S*X Venture? By Eneh Victor Chigozie …can NBC step in now? Source>>>>http://www.newsflashngr.com/index.php/2016/11/12/miss-anambra-cucumber-sx-scandal-abs-awka-using-miss-anambra-pageantry-commercial-sx-venture-eneh-victor-chigozie/#more-17132 I have carefully read the interview granted by Miss Anambra 2015, Chidinam Okeke as published by the Nations Newspaper of today. According to Chidinma Okeke, she alleged that ABS Awka the organizer of Anambra beauty pageant show turned her into a s*x slave? Anambra Broadcasting Service, ABS Awka is a government agency which is regulated by the Nigeria Broadcasting Commission NBC.This allegation by Miss Anambra 2015 that a government agency turned her into a s*x slave involving a l.esb!ianism video which is punishable under the Nigerian anti g.ay law must be taken seriously. The NBC has to step in to determine the culpability of ABS in this whole mess. If a cooperate organization like ABS could use its programme aimed at helping our young girls to discover their talent and showcase their beauty and turned it into commercial s*x money making venture either for the organization or for some members of the management, then the station has failed woefully and the regulatory agency (NBC) cannot keep quiet. Those who used their offices and positions in ABS and turned the organization’s laudable programme for our young girls into outlawed s*x business must be fished out and justice serve on them. Chidinma Okeke has done her part. We have condemned her in strongest terms. Her partners in crime against the state must face same justice. ABS Awka must react to Chidinma’s allegation against them. They must fire all their staff involved in this mess. NBC must save the broadcasting sector from this embarrassment. The commission should probe ABS Awka. Read What Chidinma Okeke Told Her Parents Lately Meanwhile, Chidinma Okeke is an adult. Her parents should quit speaking for her. Let her talk or ever remain with the stigma and shame. For dethroned Miss Anambra, Chidimma Blessing Okeke, it was perhaps a journey filled with thorns and snare. She may have had a tall dream of moving to the top through beauty contests but alas, her dreams have been cut short through the release of an obscene video where she was filmed n*de in a l.esb!ian act with another girl, Ada, who is alleged to be the third runner up in Miss Democracy contest, and her Personal Assistant. It was gathered from Chidimma’s mother, Lady Nora Okeke that the former beauty queen performed the act under the influence of something which she could not ascertain. In her words, “As a mother watching the video broke my heart but I have stopped crying and committed everything into the hands of God who always fights my battle. When I spoke with my daughter, I asked her what led her into such unholy act despite having brought her up in a godly way, she in tears said, ‘Mommy even if I did it, I didn’t know when it was done honestly, am surprised and confused. I don’t know what happened mommy’.” Responding to the question of supporting their daughter to take part in the pageant, the mother said that “Chidimma had come home to say she was going to take part in the Miss Anambra Pageant and I discouraged her from it telling her to use her beauty for God. She went back to school and returned again later to say she had been selected amongst the final contestants. I can never support any of my children to take part in any beauty pageant because we are a Christian family and don’t have liking for such things. Chidimma went into the pageant without our knowledge but she is a little girl and we cannot throw her away, she remains my little babe and the baby of the house. When she won, it was her sister that called up to tell us. She is my last child and she came seven years after my sixth child. “Chidimma was simply p.*o.rn in the hands of both the organisers of Miss Anambra and her former manager hence things went awry when she decided to free herself from the bondage. The entire controversy affected my daughter because when I went to see her, she had emaciated so much and not looking after herself at all, when I asked her why her hair was so scattered, she said, ‘Mommy leave that hair alone, that’s not my worry’. My prayer is that they will not kill my daughter.” The smoke to the dethroning of Miss Anambra may have started building up when she decided to break away from the clutches of her manager who the family did not name. In an interview with Chidimma’s father, Sir Jeremiah Okeke, he said he didn’t want to dwell in the controversy anymore as the deed had already been done and cannot be reversed. “I have embraced prayers and seeking the face of God and I know in no distant time he will expose the people behind all this. They have rubbished my daughter and my family name but my God will fight my battle, I trust Him and he has never failed me. How can a beauty queen be borrowing money to pay her driver, where is it done? Why was the crown taken away from her three to five months before the due date for another queen to emerge? Why was I called and told to declare my daughter missing by the managing Director of ABS? A man does not say all that he has seen…leave that thing alone, God will expose the truth soon. “This MD is neither known to me nor my wife. Then he calls me to suggest I declare my daughter missing? My response to him on the phone was; ‘you say I should declare my own daughter Chidimma missing? OK, I have heard you’ and I dropped the phone.” Further details gathered from Chidimma’s father reveal that the dethroned queen was not even paid the full amount of N1 million which she won while she was made to share every penny she made while reigning as a beauty queen until she couldn’t contain it anymore and she was advised to take her complaints to the person who is currently managing her. It was that tears of a drowning queen that made the current manager to move in to take control. The takeover it was alleged did not go down well with the former manager who called to query her on that move describing it as a wrong move to make. How the Car Was Taken From Her According to the embattled queen’s father, “Chidimma was with her elder sister when she was called to come to the ABS office with her car for a function only for her to return shortly in tears and the elder sister asked to know what happened, she said that ‘When she got to ABS, she was asked to hand over the keys of the car, which she did and before she left, she was shown a video of herself in an immoral act and she broke down in tears but was asked to leave. God has finished the fight for me because I as an adult cannot even contain that kind of shock. It’s amazing how my daughter was able to leave that place and remained sane not to have thrown herself at an oncoming vehicle to die or commit suicide. Anybody that can do that kind of a thing does not mean well. “I thank God that my daughter is recovering, I was with her yesterday (Monday 7th) though she is still in shock but it will all pass and I can’t wait for the truth to be exposed.” Reacting to Chidimma’s father’s statement, the Managing Director of ABS, Nze Uche Nworah, denied ever calling the man on phone saying that he does not have access to the man’s number neither have they met. He said, “That’s a lie, I never spoke with Chidimma’s father and I have never met him in person. I hope he is not confusing me with somebody else. The ABS management which is the management that is handling the Miss Anambra pageant has followed the binding contract to the latter. If you can access Chidimma, ask her to show you the contract which she signed and her sister’s husband signed on behalf of the father. I never called her father at any time; I am not even supposed to be responding to what the man is saying but for the sake of clarity.” When a call was put across to Chidimma’s father to react to Uche Nworah’s denial, he simply condemned the management’s uncaring attitude towards knowing who the beauty queen’s parents were. Despite the many accusations and counter accusation, only Chidimma may for now hold the ace to unraveling the entire truth. The popular thinking is that the act, which she took part in will remain a stigma shrouding her very essence but it is left for her to amend her ways and take the part of righteousness while absconding from fame. Her scandal is also a huge lesson for other youths who may be nursing the ambition of getting into pageants to learn to hold their integrity and follow the right part no matter the pressure. For some people, Chidimma may have walked into her shame with her eyes open but without any inkling that she was programming her destruction while another group are of the opinion that she may have been drugged before the act only for the tape to be used as a way to hold her hostage and sway her around for the gains of her blackmailers. However, another small circle are of the view that Chidimma should be made to serve a jail sentence as the nation’s constitution frowns at l.esbian!ism and g.a.y act. It was gathered that her phone was taken away from her shortly after the video went viral to avoid being bombarded by the media with calls and in the process say what may come back to haunt her. Until the truth is unearthed, it remains to be known if Chidimma, the dethroned Miss Anambra (2015) was a l.esb!ian, drugged to perform the act or if she performed the act out of her freewill perhaps because of the gains attached to it. For now she remains in hiding and only her parents can tell where she is. The two-day journey through the very lonely tarred road to the small town of Ogboji to get the version of the parents, who are visibly distraught from the scandal, may have not come easy but it gives an insight into the root of the embattled beauty queen, a middle class, quiet and friendly family who believe in nothing but God. For the father, “My family planned on keeping the news from me because I’m hypertensive but I was later told and it won’t kill me. I have seen worse things during my time in business, let God continue to fight my battle.” Source>>>>http://www.newsflashngr.com/index.php/2016/11/11/abs-boss-uche-nworah-fingered-man-behind-miss-anambra-sx-scandal-chidinma-okeke-told-parents-lately-will-shock-mother-explodes/

We are compelled to renew the call to the Inspector General of Police to order that Miss Chidinma Okeke, currently embroiled in an unusual s*x scandal, inconsistent with the law, in a situation that entangles top Anambra State Government Officials and top members of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) should be taken into protective custody. This reverb has become necessary against the background of emerging contradictions from the Anambra State Police Command on the matter. While the Commissioner of Police reportedly did not provide security for Miss Okeke to address a scheduled press conference in Awka because of ‘too short a notice ‘ from the beauty queen’s ;lawyer, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state claimed ignorance of the entire incident. And in reality, no action has been taken. We recall that 21 demonstrators were arrested in Atani Headquarters of Ogbaru Local Government Area of the State, by the Police for claiming that they were h*mos*xuals and calling for the law outlawing their practice line to be repealed. There is no reason why there should be two different laws for different sets of person on the same infraction. Again we have expressed our reservations about The Nigerian Police being funded by State Governments, in favour of an outright State Police funded by states, taking care of State offences and a Federal Police funded by provisions in the Federal Budget for federal offences as status-provided.It is absolutely necessary to remind us that Anti-Ga.y Law is an act of the National Assembly. The admix provides room for pollution and corruption which must be shunned at a time when Nigeria is brutally fighting the scourge of corruption across the nation. We are convinced that the Police Command that could afford to demolish the houses of Anambra State citizens without a valid court order, based on the devilish collaboration of the government of the day, can also swing into action when issues come face to face with the law, no matter whose ox is gored, particularly when it involves, blackmail, indecent exposure, ho.m*s*xuality/l.es!bian!ism and threat to life to cover other crimes. We urge action as failure to act on this score will create difficulties for acting in future in the same circumstances. We invite APGA to show cause why the Anambra state community which is steep in ordered igbo tradition should not totally reject their existence for ife ani na aso nso ( deportable abomination), which has left our sanity, spirituality and culture and laws very badly polluted. The unfocused party called APGA should say why their committed member who has gone everywhere in the state including the hallowed chambers of traditional rulers should indulge in such despicable conduct as such as an admonishment from the party, leaving many to speculate that it is actually part of the APGA plan to introduce a law allowing ho.m*s*xuality in Anambra State, just like it seeks to arm miscreants to carry guns in the name of an undefined ‘Operation’ targeted at the forthcoming gubernatorial elections. Set to organise counter rally, says government funding rally with public funds An organization, the Save Lagos Group has raised an alarm over a rally by some faceless persons being planned for the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu. In a statement issued on Thursday by the Convener, Comrade Adeniyi A. Sulaiman and Director, Media and Strategy, Comrade Olaolu Oladipo, the Save Lagos Group alleged that the state government has earmarked a huge amount of public funds for the rally. In the statement, the Save Lagos Group also called on the state government to come out clean on its role in the rally slated to hold in Lagos on Saturday, saying “Information available to us indicates the state government has committed a huge amount of money for the rally.” The civil society group also queried the rationale behind the rally, which it stated was not being done for the benefit of the masses of the state but rather to satisfy the ego of some prominent leaders of the ruling APC.According to the statement, “We wonder what benefit would accrue to the people of the state from Saturday’s rally rather than the fact that it was organized to massage the ego of prominent leaders of the APC. “What is even more confounding to us is the fact that the money or resources to be deployed would be coming from the pool of taxes paid by the people of the state who would have loved to see such resources utilized for developmental purposes rather than what it is being planned for by the state government.” The Save Lagos Group has further called on the state government to desist from such attempt to fritter the state’s resources on the rally, which it describes as frivolous and self-serving, saying should the planners of the event go ahead with the rally it would organize its own counter rally. “We of the Save Lagos Group are calling on the state government and the planners of the event to stop the rally, failure to do so would compel us to organise a counter rally to demonstrate that the motive of the organizers is far from being very altruistic.” The statement reads. On its next moves should the rally goes ahead, Save Lagos Group also vowed to organize a counter rally of over 5 million residents to protest what it termed an assault to the collective wellbeing of the people of the state. “We will be compelled to call on residents of the state to a mass protest against attempt to loot their treasury by self serving politicians who don’t mean well for them and who are out to rob them of their collective development.” Its reads. Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has hailed the victory of the Republican Presidential candidate, Donald Trump in the United States of America (USA) election, describing it as “the beginning of a real change in Nigeria because those who imposed the present All Progressives Congress (APC) government on Nigerians just lost out.” The governor said; “Now that Trump has won, it portends hope for Nigerians that the excesses of the President Muhammadu Buhari led federal government will stop as the road has ended for those who conspired to impose Buhari on Nigerians.” Reacting to Trump’s victory, Special Assistant to the Governor of Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka quoted the governor as saying in a statement issued in Ado-Ekiti on Wednesday that he believed that Trump will be able to tell President Buhari to respect rule of law and sit at home to solve the country’s economic problems instead of junketing around the world. The governor said; “Trump presidency symbolises different things to different people and nations. It symbolises God at work and a clear departure from the old order. “It is also a turning point for Nigeria and Nigerians, particularly those controlling the federal government that must have to change their ways as their allies who imposed them on us just lost out. “Most importantly, President Barack Obama got what he did to Dr Goodluck Jonathan. God bless President-Elect Donald John Trump!” Describing the conduct of the elections as a lesson for Nigerians, Governor Fayose said; “The US elections started and ended seamlessly. The electoral umpire never meddled; the military, police and SSS did not provide cover for ballot snatchers. No printing of doggy result sheets. I think Prof Mahmood Yakubu and his INEC should learn from this for posterity. They should stop aiding unpopular politicians to rob the people of quality leadership.” Speaking further, Governor Fayose said the election of Trump signals the hope of a possible defeat of the APC government foisted on Nigeria by the USA influence. The governor said; “I prayed to God that if Trump will be the one to save us from this present state of hopelessness, God should give him victory. I prayed that God should let Trump wins so that another change can begin in Nigeria. I am happy that God answered my prayers and gave Trump a resounding victory. “I am also happy that God has humbled those who conspired to impose the present APC government that has brought hunger, suffering, abuse of human rights and destruction of the Electoral system on Nigeria and its people.” Source>>>>http://www.newsflashngr.com/index.php/2016/11/09/fayose-hails-trumps-victory-says-symbolizes-beginning-real-change-nigeria/

…Tells Mr. President to stop Wike from usurping the functions of the Security Agencies The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has cried out to the Senate, appealing to it to prevail on the State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, to allow the rescheduled parliamentary re-run elections in the state to hold in an atmosphere of peace and devoid of bloodshed and falsehood. The party made the appeal while reacting to efforts by the Senate to ensure that the polls, which have been overly delayed because of fear of violence orchestrated by Wike and his PDP hoodlums, are held soon so as to avoid the denial of the electorate in the affected areas their right to choose their representatives in both the State and National Assemblies. Rivers APC in a statement issued to NEWSFLASHNGR.COM in Port Harcourt on Tuesday said: “We are grateful to the Senate for insisting that the rerun elections in Rivers State be concluded before the end of the second week of December this year. We also commend the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for adhering to the Senate’s position by fixing 10th December, 2016 for the much-delayed rerun elections. “We as a party will be most relieved if the rerun polls is finally conducted and concluded on the said 10th December – at least to allow our members who have suffered most in this regard to have the opportunity to take their rightful places in both the National and State Assemblies. “We, however, remain worried that Chief Wike, who has a disdain for democratic principles and who has turned our dear state into Rivers of Blood, has yet to give a guarantee of peace on in his capacity as the Chief Security Officer of the State. Therefore, while restating readiness for the 10th December polls, we wish to appeal to the Senate to go further in its concern for the conduct of the ballot by prevailing on Governor Wike to allow for a bloodless and peaceful exercise as he has already shed enough blood, including that of 200 of our members slaughtered by Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its agents in the party’s desperation to assume total political control of our state.” The party also pleads with President Buhari for the sake of peace and security of our dear State to prevail on Gov. Wike to allow peace to reign in Rivers State by stopping to intimidate, frame and arrest members of APC on trumped-up charges and turning the Rivers State Government House into a place of arrest of APC members as he is currently doing. Wike cannot be allowed to continue to act as if he is operating Rivers State as a different country outside another country call Nigeria. This is to avoid setting up the state on fire as there is a limit to the level of lawlessness being exhibited in Rivers State by the PDP government. It is sad that by the recent actions of Gov Wike, he has usurped the functions of both the Inspector General of Police and Director of DSS and sadly nobody wants to call him to order? Why must he create uneasiness in Rivers State whenever there will be an election in Rivers State? Wike must stop his desperation in setting up innocent Rivers men and women who are not members of his political party as none of his acts this time around will stop Rivers State people from voting in Senator Abe and other APC candidates during the rerun election. Rivers APC Chairman, Chief (Dr.) Davies Ibiamu Ikanya in the statement, urged party members and the entire electorate in the affected areas to get ready to punish the bungling PDP on 10th December by voting overwhelmingly for APC candidates. sOURCE>>>>http://www.newsflashngr.com/index.php/2016/11/08/apc-begs-senate-tell-wike-allow-bloodless-peaceful-re-run-polls/

….Warns FG of Consequences With the rumour of a possible increase in pump price of petrol getting stronger by the day, the Conference of Nigeria Political Parties (CNPP) on Monday warned of the imminent consequences of any such plan at a time an average Nigerian citizen can hardly afford one good meal a day. The Conference, which is the umbrella body of all registered political parties and political associations in the country, also counseled the citizens never to put their hope on Labour unions in Nigeria for any reversal of a hike in pump price if the federal government eventually dances to the tune of the rumour mongers. In a statement signed by its Secretary General, Chief Willy Ezugwu and made available to NEWSFLASHNGR.COM, the CNPP maintained that since 2012, it became obvious that the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress (TUC), and their allied unions have not proven to be selfless partners with the poor masses in times of need and cannot be trusted at this time or even in the future. According to the CNPP, “The only hope for the ordinary citizen in the country at a time like this is the CNPP and its coalition of civil society groups. “Since the rumour of fuel price hike began to make the rounds, observable body language of some government officials as well as their statements point to the fact that the increment is sure to come if the ordinary people did not resist the plan. “More so, former and present bosses of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) have at one time or the other in recent times maintained that the price of fuel might have to be increased from the current rate of N145 per litre due to the rising exchange rate. “The CNPP is currently mobilizing leaders of the civil society groups for a mother-of-all resistance if the federal government dares to increase the pump price of petrol at any time. “Nigerians should not be taken unawares at this time. Those who are conversant with the antics of the current administration know that any time such rumour and the attendant denials by the federal government begin, the time for the increment is nearer than imagined. “But if President Muhammadu Buhari believes that he still has the goodwill that enabled him increase the pump price of fuel from N85.50 to N145, the administration must be joking. “The Nigerian masses allowed the last fuel price hike because they never wanted the Buhari regime to have any excuse for failure. But today, it has become more obvious that the government has remained on the trial-and-error mode for 18months in office. “Therefore, we join well meaning Nigerians and the masses of this country to say no to another fuel price hike. The CNPP is set to lead the struggle at this time and the resistance shall be total”, the Conference vowed. SOURCE>>>>>http://www.newsflashngr.com/

A civil society organization, Save Lagos Group has lauded members of the Lagos State House of Assembly over their call on Governor Akinwunmi Ambode to halt further demolition of slums across riverine areas of the state. In a statement issued by the Convener, Comrade Adeniyi A. Sulaiman and the Director, Media, Comrade Olaolu Oladipo and made available to NEWSFLASHNGR.COM, The Save Lagos Group urged the Assembly members to expand the resolution to cover other areas of the state. Reacting to the call the duo specifically lauded the Speaker of the Assembly, Hon. Mudasiru Obasa, chairman of the ad hoc committee set up to look into the matters, Hon. Adefunmilayo Tejuosho and other members for taking the decision they consider as populist. According to the Save Lagos Group, “We welcome the call, which is in line with the desire of our organization considering the prevailing economic reality in the country that prevents the vast majority of Nigerians from accessing decent shelter in their country.” It added that the Assembly has lived up to its billing as the safeguard of the common man by taking the decision, saying it (the state House of Assembly) has rekindled the confidence of the people of the state that democracy has come to stay not only in the state but across the country.“Our group had in a statement recently called for caution on the part of the state government on the issue as we felt that it would not be in the best interest of the people who are supposed to be the primary responsibilities of those in government.” While restating its believe that though, the state government owes it a duty to enforcement its laws relating to ensuring sanity in the town planning activities, the Save Lagos Group also used the opportunity to urge the state government to provide alternative arrangements for those to be affected by the planned mass demolition. The Rivers State Chapter of All Progressives Congress APC said a few days after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced that the Rivers re-run elections have been fixed for December 10, the governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike and the PDP have used thugs to stage what they call “bursting of a fake result sheets printing syndicate in Port Harcourt” said to be operated by a purported APC chieftain. The APC in a statement issued to NEWSFLASHNGR.COM by its spokesman, Senibo Chris Finebone stated that no APC person, chieftain or ordinary member, was involved in any of the purported actions as alleged by Gov. Wike and the PDP assuming without conceding that any such development took place. The statement reads: “We make bold to state that, at the time of writing this press release, the Rivers State Police Command has not confirmed any such arrest made by its officers and men as alleged. What the governor and PDP are doing this time around is to use their thugs to stage a drama and arrest some innocent persons and detain them in the Port Harcourt Government House without the knowledge of the Nigeria police.“Sadly, the information we hear is that the present melodrama is being carried out by Gov. Wike and the PDP using one Mr. Igbani of the SOS who is a well-known PDP sympathiser who former Police Commissioner Mbu Joseph Mbu used to perpetrate his evil machinations in Rivers State in the past. “Again, information at our disposal indicates that PDP and Gov. Wike’s thugs are going to individual APC member’s homes to plant incriminating materials then turn around to harass and illegally arrest and detain them with the help of the likes of Mr. Igbani. The activities of this police officer and his associates will be properly unveiled to the public in due course. “Indeed, it is worrisome when we see the replay of a well-known script of political mischief by the governor and the PDP in Rivers State any time elections have been scheduled. Recall that as the last election was approaching, Gov. Nyesom Wike and the PDP in Rivers State contrived a story with which they used to arrest and incarcerate an APC chieftain, Ojukaye Flag-Amachree. We believe that the same scenario is playing out again and this time another prominent APC chieftain, Hon. Emma Chinda is being targeted for arrest on trumped up charges purporting a false confessional statement by an alleged suspect. “The APC would like to unequivocally state that the party has a zero-tolerance for electoral malpractices and does not directly or indirectly engage in any form of electoral malfeasance. We advise Rivers people and indeed Nigerians not to fall for Gov. Wike’s antics deliberately contrived to tarnish the image of the APC and its members in Rivers State.” SOURCE: http://www.newsflashngr.com/index.php/2016/11/06/rivers-election-re-run-apc-accuses-wike-pdp-deploying-thugs-fake-sting-operations/

…Says Wike met with Apex Court Judge in Owerri The Rivers State chapter of All Progressives Congress, APC, said it has taken notice of a press release by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, calling on President Muhammadu Buhari to ask the Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi and the Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu to step aside because some Justices accused and being investigated of corruption had curiously described their investigation as act of persecution by the Buhari administration for not favouring the All Progressives Congress, APC, in election matters arising from the 2015 general elections in some states. Rivers APC Chairman, Chief (Dr) Davies Ibiamu Ikanya, JP, who in a statement yesterday made available to NEWSFLASHNGR.COM, said “the call by the PDP flies in the face of reason, fairness, common sense and cause of justice”, reeled out thus: “It is a known fact that embattled Justices Sylvester Ngwuta and John Inyang Okoro of the Supreme Court who are currently under DSS investigation for serious corruption charges only resorted to the cheap, convenient, everyday reaction of people caught red-handed committing crimes in order to divert attention away from the grave reality confronting them especially when faced with sufficient evidence.” “Indeed, it is even more disconcerting that PDP in the said call, refused to recognise the naked fact that by accusing the Ministers of attempting to induce them to pervert the course of justice, the accused Hon. Justices introduced unrelated allegations against innocent persons unconnected with the matter for which they are being investigated, something that many accused persons easily, conveniently and cheaply resort to when caged. The questions that quickly come to mind include: were the huge sums of money reportedly found in their homes given to them by the Ministers they are accusing? Do the petitions for which the Justices are being investigated have anything to do with Amaechi or Onu? Are Justices of the Supreme Court unaware that relevant laws of the land imposes on them the strict duty to properly and formally report inducement of any kind in a timely manner or risk prison term of not less than 2 years?” “We urge Mr. President and Nigerians to completely disregard PDP call for the sacking of Amaechi and Onu. Why should they be sacked? What crime did they commit for PDP to call for their sack? These fine gentlemen did nothing wrong. Mr. President should not and cannot act based on mere accusations from the Supreme Court Justices without any iota of proof or evidence to back their claims. And we should not forget that these Justices only started making these false accusations against Amaechi & Onu, after they were arrested by the DSS.” “PDP call is fraudulent, unnecessary, a distraction from the real problems of fighting corruption in the Judiciary. They should allow Mr. President fight corruption without their childish, partisan distractions. The President Buhari’s fight against corruption is about Nigeria and moving Nigeria forward.” “The PDP should rather be calling for the expulsion and sack of their governors and senate minority leader from the South-South region who has been involved in the pervasion of justice in governorship electoral matters by financially inducing the Supreme Court Justices under investigation.” “Yes, as a party, we re-affirm our belief that the PDP governors and Senate Minority Leader who perverted justice and then turned around to orchestrate wrongful and false accusations against the Transportation Minister, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi through the Supreme Court Justices in order to cover their tracks, crime, distract attention and destroy Amaechi, are the ones that the PDP should expel from their party, banish from politics and call for their resignation or sacking.” “Again, we stand by our earlier statement on the ignominious roles of the governors of Rivers, Akwa Ibom and Delta States, and the Senate Minority leader in the pervasion of the course of justice at the apex court and the subsequent failed attempt to pin the Justices’ travails on Amaechi. In the days ahead, more details will continue to come out. For instance, it is already in the open that Governor Nyesom Wike held a secret meeting in a hotel in Owerri, Imo State with one of the Supreme Court Justices that was arrested by the Directorate of State Services (DSS). The agenda of that meeting was for the apex court Justice to assist Wike to get a favourable judgement and pervert the course of justice in the Rivers State governorship election matter that was then about going to the apex court.” sOURCE>>>http://www.newsflashngr.com/index.php/2016/11/06/apc-says-call-buhari-pdp-sack-amaechi-onu-mere-frivolous-mischievous/

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has called on the judiciary to rise in defence of democracy by doing justice fearlessly, speedily and with honesty in the Ondo State election cases and other political cases before the courts. Governor Fayose, who hailed the President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa for the swift composition of a new panel to hear appeals over the governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State, urged the panel to be mindful of delay tactics by the same people who wrote frivolous petition to impugn on the integrity of the initial panel. In a statement issued on Friday, by the Special Assistant to the Governor on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, Governor Fayose urged the new Appeal Panel to “do justice unto God and not unto powers that be and be mindful that justice delayed is justice denied.” The governor condemned the silence of President Mohammadu Buhari on the Ondo State matter, saying; “Silence of the president on a matter that poses serious threat to democracy in the country is highly disturbing.” He said; “No doubt, democracy in Nigeria is being threatened by the open collaboration of the APC led federal government with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and only a God fearing judiciary can save the situation from getting out of hands.“In its desperation to distract the PDP and rig the Ondo State election in advance for the APC, INEC has chosen to abandon its own law by endorsing someone who did not emerge through any known electoral process as the candidate of the PDP, thereby plunging Ondo State into crisis. “There is no doubt that all other political parties in Nigeria except the APC are now contesting elections against INEC. But like every afflictions of the Israelites, this too will not endure forever. “The new Appeal Panel must therefore do its job speedily and timely so that the rez is not destroyed and in the process destroy what is remaining of our democracy. The panel should remember the Biblical Solomonic judgment that saved that harlot and her child and must not allow enemies of democracy to use delay tactics to frustrate the case.” Speaking further, Governor Fayose said it was worrisome that in its bid to turn Nigeria to a one-party state, the judiciary was being harassed and intimidated to submission. “We are at a critical junction in our history as a nation, noble men are becoming helpless daily and we need God to intervene through the judiciary. “If the judiciary fails to rise to this perilous situation and save our democracy from the hands of the APC cabal, it will not survive the onslaught that will be brought on it sooner than later,” he said. While calling on the people of Ondo State to stand up and defend democracy in their State, Governor Fayose assured that anti-democracy elements trying to manipulate the November 26 election in advance will be defeated by the collective will of the people. He charged the APC led federal government to put food on the tables of Nigerians instead of preoccupying itself with its political expansion agenda. APC ACCUSES WIKE, AKPABIO AND OTHERS, SAYS – THEY ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ACCUSATION LEVELED AGAINST AMAECHI BY SUPREME COURT JUSTICES The Rivers State Chapter of All Progressives Congress APC said the allegations against Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi by Justice Inyang Okoro and Justice Sylvester Ngwuta of the Supreme Court have been linked to several top Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leaders. The APC in a statement signed by its Chairman, Chief (Dr) Davies Ibiamu Ikanya, JP and made available to NEWSFLASHNGR.COM, alleged that the governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, the governor of Delta State Ifeanyi Okowa, the governor of Akwa Ibom State Udom Emmanuel and the immediate past governor of Akwa Ibom state who’s now the Senate Leader, Godswill Akpabio (all PDP leaders) have been linked to the Supreme Court Justices’ allegations against Amaechi The Statement reads: “These big Four PDP politicians are said to be the biggest spenders who allegedly induced and bribed the Supreme Court Justices with hefty sums of money to get favorable judgements. They are said to be the major sources of the money, wealth and properties that has been traced by the DSS to Justices Okoro and Ngwuta. “These PDP bigwigs are said to have advised the Justices to drag Amaechi into their arrest and investigation by the DSS. They believe doing so would muddle the waters, divert the media and public attention from the corruption allegations against them and make the whole arrest and investigations look like a political vendetta against the Justices. Our findings indicate that they told the Justices that the Buhari government is after them, wants to bring them down, and that they must drag Amaechi down as well. They deceived the Justices to think and believe that Amaechi is the one behind their travails because of some State governorship electoral matters the apex court handled, that the All Progressives Congress(APC) lost. Rivers, Akwa Ibom and Delta governorship election appeals were cited to hoodwink Justices Okoro and Ngwuta into believing that Amaechi orchestrated their arrest and investigation. “It would be recalled that in the recent past, a few media outlets, especially SAHARA REPORTERS had written articles on the scandal and the link between Justices Okoro and Ngwuta of the apex court and these four PDP leaders. SAHARA REPORTERS had specifically written about how huge sums of money in different currencies, were channelled by these PDP leaders to induce the Supreme Court Justices to influence Supreme Court rulings and get favourable judgements in the governorship election appeals of Rivers, Akwa Ibom and Delta States. “ And Amaechi was targeted because the four of them – Wike, Akpabio, Udom and Okowa – see Amaechi as a big threat to their political ambitions and calculations ahead of 2019 elections. All four are from the South-South region, just like Amaechi. By November next year, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) would have conducted elections into the office of Governor of Anambra State preparatory to March 17, 2018 formal handover to the winner of the election or swear-in the incumbent Governor, Chief Willie Obiano expected to contest for a second term in office if he won. Obiano was sworn-in as the seventh executive Governor of the State on March 17, 2014 at the Alex Ekwueme square in Awka amidst expectations that he would pick the state’s developmental gauntlet from where his Predecessor, Mr. Peter Obi stopped. Obiano’s emergence as the candidate of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the 2013 governorship election was a thing of compromise so to say considering that the then Governor, Mr. Peter Obi had said his successor would come from Anambra North Zone. This he said would be in keeping with the spirit of Anambra’s political configuration since the south zone had since creation of the state in 1991 produced Governors in Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeife, Dr. Chinwoke Mbadinuju, Senator Andy Uba, and Dame Virgy Etiaba, while the central zone had produced Dr. Chris Ngige and himself. It was one idea that was timely and which he pursued with vigour making promises to the people of Anambra North during his second term campaigns, swearing at each stop to drum home the sincerity of the promise. Thus, he charged the elders, Traditional Rulers and Town Union Presidents-General from the zone to discuss and give him an acceptable candidate who would success him. This prompted the people of the area to set up a committee comprising all the Traditional Rulers, stakeholders and presidents-General from the communities that make up the seven local government areas in the zone. The committee which was chaired by the Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Alfred Nnaemeka Achebe had after a painstaking search culminating in interviewing all the aspirants on the platform of APGA from the zone came up with the name of Dr. Chike Obidigbo, an industrialist and manufacturer who was then the chairman of Anambra, Enugu and Ebonyi States chamber of commerce and Industry as their choice candidate and submitted to Governor Peter Obi who accepted same. In fairness, Chief Willie Obiano who was then in his home at Houston, United States of America (USA) was not among those interviewed by the committee and was not in the picture. But somehow, the name of Obiano cropped up in the run to the primaries of APGA after the Chief Victor Umeh led national executive of the party allegedly rejected the northern committee’s choice in a meeting with Christian leaders in the states and other stakeholders of the party in Awka, necessitating that the meeting was down for more than an hour to enable Chief Umeh call Obiano in the United States. Chief Joe Martins Uzodike, Peter Obi’s Commissioner for Information at the time told NEWSMEN that when Obiano was contacted on phone, he had said that he was swimming in his compound in America and should be given some time to consult with his wife. “When he eventually called back to accept the offer to come and be the preferred candidate of APGA in the election, he complained that he hadn’t enough money to immediately take a flight back home and wherewithal to prosecute the campaigns to which he was assured of ample assistance. And there and then, an arrangement was made through a businessman from Awgbu in Orumba North Local Government Area of the State resident in Lagos to transfer some United States dollars to Obiano to enable him transport himself home. The rest is now history”, he said. Further checks revealed that this last minute game that changed the Anambra North Committee’s choice of Dr. Chike Obidigbo as their candidate in preference to someone who did not even participate in their screening and interviews later become a thing of disagreement between Obi and Igwe Achebe who accused the former of betrayal and nonchalant treatment to his person prompting his resignation then as the chairman of Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council. He has since been persuaded back to his chair. The former Governor it was also learnt had apologized to the revered Monarch and Dr. Chike Obidigbo expressing regrets. Bygone, barely two years in the saddle as Governor of Anambra State and with an eye on re-election, Obiano appears to be having multiple challenges that may derail and the threaten his chances of greeting re-elected for a second term in office as Anambra State Governor. The discontents are a product of his activities in office in the last two years coming from both his APGA and even the people of Omambala area comprising the contiguous local government areas bordering the Omambala River in Anambra North from where he hails from. The four local government areas are Anambra East, Anambra West, Ayamelum and Oyi. Even as Obiano hails from Aguleri in Anambra East local government area, there is a growing discontent from his Omambala brothers that he is not doing enough for the people from the communities in these four local government areas other than his immediate Aguleri community. He has been roundly accused of nepotism in both appointments and infrastructural development in favour of his Aguleri community to the exclusion of other communities, and that he is totally disconnected from the reality of the after-effects of his lopsided appointments and the grassroots. For instance, there is this allegation that about – 70% of his Special Assistants and Advisers are either from his Aguleri community or Ogbunike in Oyi local government area from where his wife hails making tongues wag as to whether these two communities alone ensured his victory at the polls. We further find out that four of his first cousins from Ihiala, Ihiala local council are his Senior Special Assistants. It is understood that their mother is the elder sister to the Governor’s mother. Besides, members of APGA in the state who worked for him during the elections are now disenchanted with his obvious nepotism which favored his former classmates and old Boys of Christ the King College(CKC), Onitsha as well as some Diaspora Anambrarians in the United states who were with him while there to the exclusion of those on the ground that even ensured he became governor. There were also former Directors of failed banks who worked with him previously in first Bank plc and other places. “Let me be honest to you. The Governor has show disdain to APGA members in the state. He didn’t remember them in his appointments and no sooner did he win elections than he abandoned the party structure. Imagine that out of over 200 political appointments he made, about 140 are his kInsmen, inlaws and relatives. If that is not nepotism then what is it”? Johnson Emeh, an APGA stalwart in Orumba South added. According to him, when the Governor was picked as APGA Flag bearer, in 2013, he had no campaign structure because he was in the Diaspora and not on the ground. Then his Kinsman, Chinedu Idigo, a lawyer and leading aspirant then offered him his campaign structure with which he campaigned and won the governorship election but today Idigo has been frustrated out of APGA, all because of the way the Governor abandoned him. Outside of nepotism in appointments, the Governor has also been accused of nepotism in citing of projects especially roads, or outright abandonment of the ones he inherited from the Obi administration to the discontent of the affected communities or diversion all the same thereby abandoning his 4Cs he promised Ndi Anambra. Mr. Hycinth Obiudu from Nteje, Oyi Local government area in Omambia axis of Anambra North district also said in Nteje that Governor Obiano has been sectional in his road protects in Anambra North and that apart from some township and streets roads built in Otuocha and Aguleri town in Anambra East local government Area of the State, no new roads had been constructed and the ones he inherited in the area had been abandoned. He gave instances with the Nteje-Odumodu road and the Awkuzu-Nando road as well as several other roads in Oyi, Anambra East and Ayamelum which the Governor inherited from the Obi administration but which were all abandoned today. He said the state governments claims on Anambra rice is false because the Rice had been existing. He said the he owed a Rice farm in Omor, Ayamelum Local council of the state and that no access roads to the best of his knowledge had been provided for the farms. What is happening he said is that middlemen who are government agents come to buy the local Rice from them and send to a milling plant in Amichi, Nnewi south Government area of the State and package them in bags with Anambra Rice inscription and sell to marketers in the state’s markets at very ridiculous prices. “A bag of local Rice in Anambra costs as much as N15, 000. It is not even found anywhere because these middlemen hoard them. The loan the state government promised Rice farmers could not be accessed, no assistance whatsoever. For the people of Anambra North it is like wasted years and another election is fast approaching. “I just pray that he does something before the elections because people are not happy at all”, he said, further investigation revealed that despite the discontent from the people of Anambra North Zone, people from the central zone of the state are not amused either. An Awka indigene who pleaded to remain anonymous said in Awka that before Peter Obi left office, he had awarded the contract for the dualisation of both sides of the Umuokpu- Amansea end of Enugu/ Onitsha expressway which is in total disrepair. Amansea is the border town between Anambra and Enugu States. It is being alleged he said that the office of the Commissioner for works under the former Governor Obi kept aside the sum of N24Billion for the completion of the road which was on-going before Obiano came, adding that the moment the Governor took over, he allegedly diverted the money to the construction of township streets in his native Aguleri community abandoning the road till now. Nobody he said is against his building of roads in his area of the state but that he shouldn’t have diverted the money meant for projects in Awka to elsewhere. He further alleged that the Amansea-Awba- Ofemili Ebenebe road, Awka-Okpuno- Amanuke road, all in Awka North and the Ekwulobia- Ezinifite road in Aguata, among others, all of which were at various stages of completion before Obiano came were abandoned more than two years after. Similarly, a group “Omambala Rebirth unity forum” which is an association of stakeholders from the four Local government areas that make up the Omambala area of Anambra North Zone where the Governor hails from Penultimate week bemoaned the way Governor Obiano allegedly threw away the goodwill of Anambra people who gave him their mandate in 2013 governoship election in the state and his seeming insensitivity to cries of nepotism as evidenced in his lopsided political appointments and abandonment of inherited projects in the state. Leaders in the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Wednesday described the action of the embattled Deputy Publicity Secretary of the Party, Comrade Timi Frank as harmful to the country’s democracy. They also appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to take steps to protect the country’s democracy by stopping Frank and his sponsors from destroying the ruling party. The leaders in a statement signed and issued to NEWSFLASHNGR.COM by the Chairman of APC United Front, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa after their meeting in Abuja, described the APC as democratic in organizational practice and goals.Alhaji Ibrahim Musa, the leaders praised the National Chairman of the Party, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun for taking into consideration the shapes of opinion of the different party leaders, supporters and well-wishers concerning the party’s growth and progress. “APC is not in trouble. Chief John Odigie-Oyegun is not APC’s problem. He is a man of facts, not given over to wild speculation or sensationalism. His moral reputation is a great asset to the party” they said. The leaders also commended the national chairman for playing according to the rules and policies of the party. By Eze Monica. C. Ada Intro. “Well, I cannot in all honesty understand how these works have been achieved within this short time and, indeed, in the climate of dire economic shortages of government. I am impressed that you were able to do these works within the cost you mentioned. I can, in all honesty, tell you that the work is far beyond the cost. Now, this is a standard for other states and the Federal Government to emulate. To me, Governor Umahi is one of the few persons who believe that meagre resources could be used to achieve much, if we remove greed, which breeds corruption. Without mincing words, Umahi, is better than some governors in my own party, the APC.” Engr. Babachir Lawal, a chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), made the above statement during his one-day working visit to Ebonyi State, during which he inspected and commissioned some projects undertaken by the 17-month-old administration of the governor, Chief David Nweze Umahi, a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers. The SGF inspected two dual carriageway fly-overs at the African Trans-Sahara Highway currently under construction, after which he commissioned the Governors’ Lodge, named after the first civilian governor of the state, Senator Sam Egwu, as well as the CBN Road at the Centenary City, Abakaliki. Not minding that I am a daughter of Ebonyi State, I must confess that I became a proud daughter after reading this historical statement made by a notable official of President Muhammadu Buhari’s Administration and patriotic Nigerian, on my uncle, Governor Umahi, who has proved that he was committed to taking Ebonyi to the next level. My interest to investigate the veracity or otherwise of the statement credited to the SGF and APC chieftain gave birth to this article. Please, read on and pass judgment, as you deem fit. Umahi’s Mission Statement Our mission is to enhance the welfare of our people, and empower all Ebonyians to be self-reliant, through the compassionate delivery of transparent and God-fearing governance, based on integrity and dignity. Ebonyi’s Core Values “In this administration, everything I do must reflect my covenant with God, which he gave to me by himself, namely:- 1. To serve Ebonyi State with the fear of God 2. To prosper Ebonyi State with the word of God 3. To make Ebonyi State the number one economy in the whole country 4. To passionately help the widows and the oppressed 5. To build a befitting place of worship like Solomon did, so that any Ebonyian that is faced with any difficulty anywhere in the world and turns to the direction of the temple, and calls upon the name of the Lord, God will answer such prayers.” Works Commissioner a Round Peg in A Round Hole Engr Nweze Fidelis Kings (MNSE), was on July 3, 2015 appointed into the State Executive Council and designated the Honourable Commissioner for Works & Transport, by His Excellency David Umahi (FNSE, FNATE, FCAI). This great son of Ebonyi was charged with the enormous responsibilities of coordinating the activities of the ministry, and implementing the bulk of the policy thrust of this present administration. A notable workaholic and a seasoned administrator, he is the tool in the hands of the executive governor in the ongoing revolution, which has gradually turned the state into a huge construction site. The commissioner delights and takes pleasure in ensuring that high-quality jobs are delivered before stipulated time frame. This energetic and committed leader visits up to five construction sites in different locations within the morning hours, before he resumes in the office at 9.am, and still inspects more before close of work daily. An astute administrator, Engr Kings is a humble man full of zeal, and with a lion’s heart. The success story of the Ministry of Works and Transport is traced to the leadership’s trust and total commitment to God, who inspired the governor to appoint a man who has the fear of God to pilot the affairs of the core ministry. Within the first month of his appointment, the honourable commissioner renovated an old building in the ministry and converted same to a befitting Chapel, for compulsory weekly prayers and thanksgiving by all the staff and other occupants of the ministry’s premises. During Special Quarterly Thanksgiving Services, the proceeds are used to reach out to prisoners, Motherless Baby’s Home, Old People’s Home and hospitals, where bills of indigent patients (who cannot afford their bills) are settled, and affected patients discharged. The Umahi administration is generally anchored on a divine mandate, equity, love and unity of all Ebonyi people – irrespective of political, ethnic and religious affiliations – through equal distribution of road infrastructure in all the zones of the state. We are confident to get to our desired destination of being the number one state in the country. Below is a comprehensive list of completed and ongoing projects in all the three senatorial zones, and Abakaliki, the state capital. Genesis of Ebonyi As Huge Construction Site To actualise its noble objective of zero tolerance for dusty roads all-around the state capital and in the hinterlands, the state government under the leadership of Engr Umahi, procured equipment for road construction, reconstruction and maintenance of roads in both urban and rural areas in the state. In addition to the construction equipment, the government also procured pick-up vans as project vehicles, to facilitate speedy service delivery in the ministry. The Ministry of Works and Transport, saddled with the responsibility of massive road construction, has since inception of this administration embarked on reconstruction of dilapidated roads in the urban areas. The success story so far is there for all to judge. On December 3, 2015, Umahi flagged off the construction of some rural roads in the three senatorial zones, in addition to the 50-kilometre roads within the urban area, which he had earlier flagged off on December 1, 2015. These roads include: Amasiri–Uburu –Okposi Road for Ebonyi South; Nkalagu–Ehamufu Road for Ebonyi Central; Hill-top –Nwofe Road for Ebonyi North. This is in fulfillment of his campaign promises of running an all-inclusive government where all Ebonyi people will be carried along. The construction of a 15-kilometre road for each of the 13 local government areas in the state has since commenced. The governor has also graciously approved the hiring of some expatriate engineers for the purpose of transference of knowledge and skills to our indigenous engineers, with a view to stabilising the technical manpower of the ministry. NEWSFLASHNGR report – Former Rivers State Governor and Minister for Transportation Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has hailed former Chairman of the Peoples’ Democratic Party in Rivers State, Late Chief GU AKE as a peace loving man who contributed immensely to human capital development. Amaechi stated this at Erema, Ogba/Egbema/ Ndoni Local Government Area of the state, during the burial ceremony of the Late Chief Godspower Umejuru Ake, on Friday. The late Chief Ake was an ally of the Transportation Minister. He was also a former member of the Rivers State House of Assembly in the first Republic. Amaechi who also acknowledged the role played by the Late Chief G.U Ake in his guber ambition explained that many whom the elder statesman assisted in life turned against him before his death. “Chief was a very peace loving man and a peaceful man; the way he walks and the way he talks you will know that he never liked violence. A lot of us seated here today have benefited from chief in one way or the other. Starting from Chief Rufus Ada George and Dr. Peter Odili, my former boss. After God, Chief contributed in making Dr. Peter Odili deputy governor and contributed to also making him governor. So chief helped to make governors after God”. “After Dr. Peter Odili became governor, Chief helped to make me governor. I will tell you one lesson I learnt from chief. He said people will continue to betray you so let it not worry you. A lot of people that were chief’s friends betrayed him. Chief taught me that where there is no God there will be no peace. I thought Chief would die when Felix Obuah “Go-round” betrayed him. If you all remember “Go round” was shot in his privates, the first man that rushed to me was Chief G.U Ake, he gave me an ultimatum that I must fly him (Go- round) out to South Africa for treatment and I brought the money, he was flown abroad and was treated, but today “Go round” has betrayed Chief.” “We must look at what has happened to our own leader, our own father. A child in Omoku (Chief’s home town) went to court and lied against Chief, and removed him because they had power of the Presidency. I know chief very well and was close to him, chief was a good adviser, he was not greedy, and he died a Rivers man. All those he helped are not here. I owe him nothing than this respect and to continue to be a member of his family,” Amaechi said. Recalling his victory as the then Governor of Rivers State, Amaechi said his victory was through a divine mandate and not by shedding of human blood, adding that one of his greatest successes recorded as governor was that Rivers State did not experience killings and human massacre as it is currently prevalent under the present administration.
