The Former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has said he is under intense pressure to contest in the 2019 Election. Speaking to Dele Momodu, Goodluck said he is moved to tears, having seeing people shout, “GEJ, we want you back”.

Jonathan, who ruled out the possibility of returning to office, said reflections on his achievements and mistakes make him sober.

“I’m not God but I sincerely doubt the possibility,” Jonathan was quoted to have said in response to a question on the next election.

“People come to me every day saying they want me back. I’m always moved to tears whenever I go out and see the huge crowds shouting GEJ, we want you, even in the north.

“Instead of getting swollen headed, I actually reflect on my achievements and mistakes and feel humbled and feel very sober…

“I have never been a man of inordinate ambition. I’m a man of very modest means. I hardly travel because of the logistical costs. I’ve played my part and I have moved on.”

Asked what he would do if the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gives him its presidential ticket in 2019, he said: “Are you not aware that our party has zoned the presidency to the north, and the chairmanship to the south?

“Even Fayose that has declared his interest may face big challenges because of the decision of our party.”

WHY BIAFRANS ARE BOYCOTTING ANAMBRA GUBERNATORIAL ELECTION COMING UP ON NOVEMBER 18, 2017

Biafrans in Anambra state, who are eligible to vote, have unanimously agreed to boycott the upcoming Gubernatorial election in Anambra state slated for Saturday, November 18, 2017. It must be recalled that the planned election is predicated on Section-178 of Nigerian fraudulent Constitution.

The Nigerian fraudulent Constitution was single-handedly written by General Abdulsalami Abubakar without the consent and contributions of Nigerians. He brought it into existence through Decree Number-4 which was promulgated by an undemocratic military junta headed by the same General Abdulsalami Abubakar.

To further entrench the fraud, General Abubakar lied in the preamble of the said fraudulent Constitution by stating that; “We the people of the Federal Republic of Nigeria….. Do hereby make, enact and give to ourselves the following Constitution”, whereas there was no such time when the people of Nigeria ever got together to produce such fraudulent document being referred to as the Nigerian Constitution.

During an interview with Channels Television on June 12, 2017, Dr. Amos Akingba, a NADECO Chieftain, stated unequivocally that the Nigerian Constitution is a fraud. The interview can be viewed using this link and begin to view from 1.55mins up to 2.39mins;

Furthermore, Section-185(1) of the fraudulent Constitution stated that before a Governor begins to function, he or she must subscribe to Schedule-7 of the said fraudulent Constitution, which contains Oath of Allegiance and Oath of Office of a State Governor.

These two Oaths stipulate that the Governor shall defend, protect, and preserve the fraudulent Constitution of Nigeria. The implication of these Oaths is that such a Governor must comply with Section-1(2) and Section-2(1) of the fraudulent Constitution and these foreclose any involvement by the Governor in activities related to the exit of Biafra from Nigeria. If any Governor dares to violate these Oaths, Section-188(2) will be triggered. Therefore, participating in the upcoming Gubernatorial election in Anambra state will not be of any benefit to Biafrans neither will it further the cause of the restoration of the nation of Biafra because whoever is elected will be helplessly and hopelessly bound by the Oaths in Schedule-7 which mandate the Governor to ruthlessly arrest, detain, and kill any person agitating for Biafra exit from Nigeria.

This is why Willie Obiano and Okezie Ikpeazu have been killing thousands of Biafrans in their capacities as governors of Anambra and Abia states respectively. It will be foolhardy for Biafrans to participate in an electoral process that will produce someone who ends up killing them as mandated by the fraudulent Constitution upon which the electoral process was predicated.

For the avoidance of doubt and to put the records straight, Biafrans are only boycotting the Anambra Gubernatorial election but will not stop the election.

The clarification is necessary because enemies of Biafra including Igbo politicians are all over the media lying that Biafrans are planning to stop the Anambra election with a connotation of violence. Biafrans have agreed to stay in their homes on that day in order to comply with the agreement to boycott the election.

Biafrans are also staying at home in order to avoid being shot and killed because Willie Obiano has perfected plans with the Nigerian Army to shoot Biafrans if they come out of their houses and he (Obiano) will claim that the dead Biafrans were killed by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

In the event that a perfect boycott (100%) is achieved, Section-184(a-ii) of the fraudulent Constitution is clear on what should happen, hence the claim by mischief-makers on a state of emergency being imposed is a lie from the pit of hell.

The Directorate of State (DOS) assures Biafrans that the Biafra restoration process is still on course and the Lower Niger Independence Movement (LONIM) is the only viable and peaceful platform through which a Referendum will be engendered.

Irrespective of the outcome of the Anambra Gubernatorial election, Biafrans remain undeterred because the restoration of the nation of Biafra is a divine project whose time has come and is, therefore, unstoppable, unquenchable, irreversible, and irrevocable.

Following the excellent academic performance by four graduating students under the Presidential Amnesty Programme at Linton University College, Malaysia an affiliate of Leeds Beckett, Coventry and University of East London, both in the United Kingdom (UK); the Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Niger Delta and Coordinator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, Brigadier General Paul Boroh (Rtd) has again stressed the relevance of higher education to peace and development.

Represented by senior reintegration officer of the Amnesty office, Mr. Jude Gbaboyor, at the 13th convocation of Linton University College, Malaysia, on Tuesday (October 31, 2017), Gen. Boroh reiterated the commitment of the Buhari led federal government to the sustainability of peace and stability of the Niger Delta region.


He pointed out that the Presidential Amnesty Office is focusing on capacity development of the youths, particularly the ex-agitators, as part of concerted efforts towards reintegrating them back to their original communities with sustainable sources of livelihood through various empowerment packages.


Mr. Bralatei Pastor, a delegate, who spoke on behalf his colleagues, thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for sustaining the programme, even as he applauded Gen. Boroh for his pragmatic empowerment initiatives for beneficiaries of the programme, saying that they would reciprocate the federal government’s good gesture by being good ambassadors of the programme.


A total of 36 delegates from the Presidential Amnesty programme graduated, among whom four of them clinched First Class Hons, eight 2nd Class Upper Division, with eighteen 2nd Class Lower Division and one 3rd Class.

Northern Youths Movement (NYM), which made this known in a release issued to NEWSFLASHNGR.com after its meeting in Abuja on Wednesday, warned the Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai against going ahead with his threat to sack over 20,000 teachers that purportedly failed the competency test.

NYM Chairman, Mallam Ishaya Jato, said in a communique he signed on behalf the youths that it was Dr Kayode Fayemi who brought the consultant that conducted the competency test, which they said was done purposely to reduce the number of teachers in Kaduna State and also raise money for his (Fayemi) governorship election.

Governor El-Rufai of Kaduna state had expressed his resolve to go ahead with the planned sack of over 20,000 teachers who failed a controversial competency test organised by the government. He said his administration will not be blackmailed by threats from the state chapter of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) that vowed to down tools if the government sacked its members.
The governor went further to say that recruitment plans for new teachers had already been put in motion.

In their reaction, youths under the umbrella of NYM said it was Fayemi, who is a close ally of Governor El-Rufai that sold the idea of the competency test to the governor and went on to provide the consultant that conducted the test.

They alleged that over N500 million was made from the competency test deal, which they said was also aimed at raising fund for Fayemi’s electioneering campaign in 2018.

The NYM also raised the alarm that idea of the competency test was already being sold to other northern states, accusing Fayemi of trying to destroy the educational system in the north, with Teachers Competency Test that they said Ekiti State Teachers resisted when Fayemi tried to impose it on them when he was governor.

They vowed to report the Minister of Mines and Steel Development to President Muhammadu Buhari and other notable northern leaders.

Calling on teachers in Kaduna State to resist Governor El-Rufai’s plan to sack over 20,000 of them, the youths pledged their support for the teachers, vowing to join in the fight against the governor’s plan to destroy the lives of over 20,000 families by throwing their bread-winners into the labour market.

My attention has been drawn to the rant of one Wendell Simlin, better known as Reno Omokri, disparaging the person of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola over facts revealed by the Osun governor on how former President Goodluck Jonathan and his cronies pillaged our national resources before he was eased out by vigilant Nigerian voters.

Reno’s outburst against Ogbeni does not deserve a response and the reasons are not far-fetched.
Recall Omokri in a desperate bid to justify the petro-dollar looted under his boss, or perhaps diverted to his office, had lied by taking up the now infamous Wendell pseudonym to slander the former governor of Central bank by accusing him of sponsoring the Boko Haram terrorist group.

It goes without saying that, for anyone with a multiple personality disorder, nothing is off limits in their books to justify their pay; hence, the end justifies the means.

For ease of understanding, multiple personality disorder is a severe form of dissociation, a mental process which produces a lack of connection in a person’s thoughts, memories, feelings, actions, or sense of identity.

Omokri is obviously dissociated from reality; living a lie, surrounded by unseen forces, and believes in a distorted historical fact of a government he once actively participated in.

For the sake of clarity, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola whilst hosting a team of delegates from the Federal Government on the Digital Switch Over project explained how Nigeria got into this sorry state.

Three indisputable facts given by the governor for the payment of modulated salary in his State are the following; economic downturn induced by brazen corruption, wanton theft of crude oil and mismanagement of the country’s resources by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led Federal Government under Goodluck Jonathan.

Has Reno forgotten so quickly that at least $20bn disappeared into thin air under his master’s watch? Lest we forget, never has Nigeria’s resources being plundered like was witnessed during the Jonathanian era.

The brazen theft of cash and unprecedented looting of public funds under Goodluck Jonathan is an historical one since the entity called Nigeria was created. Obviously, Jonathan and his gang of thieves were obviously trying to outdo the colonial masters and all his predecessors combined.
The Goodluck Jonathan led administration single-handedly redefined corruption in government.
Lest we forget, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala went on a borrowing spree to pay salaries of federal government workers shortly after she revealed over 400,000 barrels of crude oil was being stolen daily by government protected-plunderers, whilst her colleagues in other ministries busied themselves with thieving what was left in the treasury.

In fact, one of the notorious bandits that made up Jonathan’s cabinet was said to have chartered private jet at will to cater for her housemaid, whilst another abused her office by instructing agencies under her to purchase multi-million naira armoured vehicles for her leisure ride.

I will not belabour the issue of the ruin and destruction the Goodluck Jonathan era brought our way; however, my prayer is that may Nigeria never have to be governed by another president whose singular objective in leadership is to balkanize Nigeria.

Since Reno lacks the requisite knowledge on how governance works in Nigeria, let me take a moment to school him. Theoretically, Nigeria practices federalism. Except the Nigerian Constitution is amended, States within its domain will continue to depend on the federal government for sustenance, except for a few.

Many of the resources are locked up in the hands of the federal government. Interestingly, there are 68 items in the exclusive list, with just around 30 on the concurrent list in the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Osun for example has enough gold deposits, whose income can cater for a minimum of 50 years budget, is forced to go cap in hand to the federal government because the constitution acts as a major impediment to achieving our dreams as a State.

Beyond the rhetoric, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola continues to deliver on key infrastructural projects that will shape Osun’s landscape for the next 50 years.

The Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola administration met a State in comatose, but will be leaving it come November 27, 2018 better than when he took over the reins of power. When he was sworn in, the IGR was an abysmal N300m; now, the State generates around N1bn monthly.

Can things be better? Yes, and Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola’s administration is working tirelessly to ensure that his Six points integral action plan is realised in order to improve the standard of living in the State of Osun.

Following obvious curiosity that is trailing a reported United Nations (UN)-backed award under the platform of Sustainable Cities and Human Settlements Awards (SCAHSA) and inquiries by the Rivers State chapter of All Progressives Congress, APC, on the status of the purported award, the UN-Habitat Headquarters, New York, which liaises with development partners on United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) programmes of the UN has disowned the SCAHSA award reportedly to be conferred on Gov. Nyesom Wike Tuesday, 31st October in New York.

Following APC’s e-mail inquiry dated Monday 30th October (yesterday) concerning the Global Human Settlements Outstanding Contribution Award organised by SCAHSA, the UN-Habitat New York Office, in a statement dated same day and signed by the Secretary and IT Focal Point, Mr. Angel Gomez, dissociated the UN from such an award. Residents of Lemomu Kajola Road, Ileshe, Atan, Ogun State, are in shock after a destitute man in the community, Odunlade Adewale, killed and dismembered his friend, Moruf Lawal.

Lawal, aka Kaka, had accused the Ondo State indigene of stealing a phone belonging to their mutual friend, one Femi.

Adewale, in anger, allegedly seized a cutlass and h@cked the victim to death.

He reportedly chopped off the 38-year-old’s two hands, g0rged out his eyes and broke his skull, exposing his br@in tissue.

After the attack, Adewale reportedly told residents of the area that he had just killed Lawal.

Some youths in the community were said to have tied down the suspect before the arrival of policemen from the Atan division.

A community leader, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the incident occurred between 1am and 3am on Monday.

He said, “The three of them are friends – Adewale, Kaka (Lawal) and Femi. While Adewale is a destitute man who is into carpentry work, Kaka was a motorcycle rider; Femi is into generator repairs. They usually drink and smoke together.

“Around 1am, the men went to Atan to drink. As they were returning around 1.30am, they stopped a tricycle rider and started an argument with him. They wanted to extort money from him but the man resisted them. An Islamic cleric, who was praying at the time, saw them and intervened. Everybody then dispersed.

“Some minutes later, Femi discovered that his phone was missing and he went to Kaka’s house to challenge him. Kaka denied taking the phone. They both went to where Adewale was sleeping, which was opposite Kaka’s house. He does not have any permanent place of abode.

“Kaka had a cutlass in his hand. They had an argument and during a scuffle that followed, Adewale seized the cutlass from Kaka and h@cked him to death. He later cut off his he@d and chopped off his two hands.”

Femi was said to have fled the scene on seeing the tragic turn of event.

Then Adewale, while armed with the cutlass, went to a building opposite the scene to announce that he had killed Lawal.

Some residents reportedly thought it was a ploy by suspected armed robbers to trick residents out of their homes.

Landlords on the street were said to have called one another, but no one came out.

A resident, who caught the suspect, told our correspondent that Adewale also attacked him with the cutlass.

He said, “I was called around 3am that thieves were on the street. I tiptoed out and heard a man calling people to come out. He said he would kill everybody.

“I stood beside a fence without seeing anyone. Moments later, I saw a man passed by me. I told him to stop. He faced me with a cutlass and we started fighting. My brother also joined us. Although I had injuries, we were able to subdue and tie him.

“Initially, I didn’t know he had killed anyone. We were still tying him up when we heard people saying he had killed somebody a few houses away. His cutlass was still dripping with bl00d.”

Residents told our correspondent that Adewale had no known relative.

He was said to be epileptic, a sickness some said accounted for his rejection by his immediate family members.

“Anytime he had a seizure and fell on the ground, nobody would go near him. Whenever we asked for his relatives, he would only say he came from Ondo State.

It is possible that his family rejected him after efforts to address the problem failed. His major problem was that anytime he took alcohol, even as little as N100 worth of liquor, he would start misbehaving,” a community leader said.

The remains of Lawal had been deposited in a morgue.

The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the incident.

He said, “The friends usually block roads to extort money from people. They had done that that night when they had issues, probably over sharing formula.

The suspect picked a cutlass and dismembered his friend. He is a destitute person who is also epileptic. He has been arrested.”

It is not in the character of Rivers State APC to react to obvious misgiving innuendos from Rivers PDP in her desire to look for cheap publicity but attempting in one of their recent press statements in which she titled, “Rivers PDP Dares Dakuku over Wike” to disparage and compare Dr. Dakuku Peterside the President of the Association of African Maritime Administrations (AAMA) with Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State is to us a joke taken too far.


According to PDP in her sinister press statement, “...Dakuku Peterside, the PDP believes is only trying to dust his rickety and outdated political profile by making bogus statements and insulting his naturally superior Executive Governor of the State, Chief Barr. Nyesom Wike, thinking that will impress his political benefactors to reconsider him for another shot at the Office of the Governor of Rivers State.”


The party in a statement approved to NEWSFLASHNGR.com for circulation to the public by her State Chairman, Chief (Dr) Davies Ibiamu Ikanya in Port Harcourt on Tuesday reasoned that the only crime that Dr. Dakuku Peterside committed to warrant this unguided and uncouth reaction from the PDP was his caution against the plot by Governor Wike and his government to disrupt the flag-off of the Bonny-Bodo Road by the Federal Government and dared him that if he carries on with such an evil plot to disrupt a project that have been denied the State for over 40 years that he (Dakuku) will lead a protest against such a sinister plot.

What is the crime that a concerned son of Rivers should show concern over a plot to under develop Rivers State? Not minding the misgiving on the side of PDP in this regard, we commend and congratulate Dakuku for this proactive caution which if not, Wike wouldn’t have ran away and avoided the flag-off to show his disdain and discontentment over the APC led Federal Government drive to develop Rivers State. The party reasons that for Wike to have distanced himself from this great event aimed at addressing one of the lingering challenges facing the State exposes him as an unserious leader.


The party further questioned, the rationale behind comparing Wike who abandoned our medical students who are in their final year of study stranded in foreign land and preferred to travel to Spain to pursue setting up of Real Madrid Football Academy as a means to loot and launder our hard earned funds outside the country with Dr Peterside who instituted private scholarship scheme to ensure the education of our students within and outside Nigeria.


The party queries, how does one compares Wike a fellow bereft of leadership ideas who is a misfortune in the governance of Rivers State with a patriotic son of Rivers State in the stature of Dr. Dakuku Peterside whom we all know has a well-documented blueprint which he tagged ‘Road To Prosperity’ that would have made Rivers State one of the most developed states in Nigeria by now is to us exhibition of ignoramus to the highest order on the side of the Obu led PDP in Rivers State.


How does one compare a Governor that could not build on the feats of his immediate predecessor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi in the areas of Agriculture, Roads, solid infrastructure, security, education, health but instead performed so woefully that today Rivers State is now known as Rivers State of blood and Port Harcourt its State capital the den of garbage with Dr. Peterside, a former ranking member of the Federal House of Representatives, who in so short a time made NIMASA an institutionalised institution with the right structure, the right work ethics; an institution which Nigerians are proud of.


While Wike has ran the economy of Rivers State aground without any budgetary law in running the affairs of the State on the other hand, today, NIMASA under Dr. Dakuku is a model of reference on the continent of Africa, an agency that understands that it is set up to serve the Nigerian people, ensured the full implementation and enforcement of the International Ships and Ports Facility Security (ISPS) code in the nation’s ports, and shut three jetties and port facilities for non-compliance with the provisions of the ISPS Code.


The party could not understand how one could compare Wike who has turned Rivers State into a slaughtering, mourning field and Rivers of blood with Dr Peterside who is an astute and seasoned administrator with a Midas touch who has repositioned and turned around the fortunes of NIMASA, AAMA and whatever challenge(s) he comes across with?


Today, while Wike wastes Rivers State funds on issues of no interest to the people of Rivers State thereby owing our civil servants months of salaries and our Pensioners arrears in their entitlements but on the other hand, Dr Dakuku Peterisde within less than two years in office has for the first time made NIMASA to remits N21.805bn to Federal Government Coffers.

The leaders said that contrary to the belief in some quarters, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief John Odigie-Oyegun was piloting the ruling party to the satisfaction of all members.

“We reject the accusation in totality. It was made in ignorance. APC is thriving, making great progress with Oyegun at the wheel, assisted by others. The resort to wide allegations is Idahosa’s attempt to throw a spanner in the works to distract this focused administration.”

Signed by the Chairman, South-South Front (SSF), Chief John Harry, the leaders lauded the quality of Oyegun’s administration, his commitment to the tenets of democracy and expansion of the democratic space.

“We act on facts and not on speculations and lies. APC is not in trouble or divided. There is no plot to dislodge the national chairman of APC. There is no battle between the presidency and some APC state governors on the 2019 polls” the leaders said.

Specifically, the leaders praised Oyegun for erecting a strong structure and adhering strictly to the Constitution of the party.

“Oyegun is performing excellently. President Muhammadu Buhari and the party chairman are not at loggerheads. Members are not working at cross purpose. His leadership style is not synonymous with sycophancy, deceit and double talk.”

Confidence in Oyegun’s leadership, the leaders described APC as a highly organized party.

“Contrary to fears expressed after the Supreme Court judgement on PDP leadership crisis, APC is still intact. It is not lacking in the basic democratic ingredients.”

I have treated six major issues in part one of this study as stated above out of the 21 projects that put Umahi poles ahead of other leaders in his class, I will as space will guarantee me present another six projects executed by this enigma that have made him achieve more than what his predecessors achieved since 21 years of the creation of the State.

1. The 5,000-unit mega city housing project

Another great feat that Umahi will forever be remembered in the annals of Ebonyi State was the 5,000-unit mega city housing project he initiated.

This project to be bankrolled by the Africa Nations Development Programme (ANDP) is yet another milestone by the administration of Governor Dave Nweze Umahi.

This housing project that will comprise of 5,000 detached two bedroom bungalows and other facilities such as schools, water, electricity, police station, barracks, hospitals among others is not only a milestone but also a strategic move to put Ebonyi in the league of the most developed states in Nigeria.

This project that will be executed by this international body will cost the Ebonyi State Government little or nothing apart from the donation of the land and construction of a two-kilometre road to the site.

Governor Umahi, who laid the foundation for the project in Umuobuna Etiti Uburu in Ohaozara Local Government Area, has pledged that a similar project would be sited at Izzi Local Government before the end of his first tenure in office.

2. Steady payment of the salaries of the State Civil Servants

At a time when many other states are finding it difficult to pay workers’ salaries or meet other basic needs as a result of the economic recession in the country, the Umahi Administration, despite Ebonyi’s modest resources, embarks on numerous road projects, flyovers, roundabouts, street lights and hospitals, while also executing a revolution in agriculture, as well as the educational and health sectors.

This is in addition to regular payment of civil servants, who also get paid a 13th month by the State Government

While the current recession ravaging most states in Nigeria has made them unable to pay their staff salaries for many months, the administration of Umahi in Ebonyi State has not only increased the salaries of its workers by 5 per cent, but also pays regularly on 15th of every month.

3. Welfare of the Pensioners and widows

On the side of welfare for the people of the State, the administration of Dave Umahi recently released over N1.5 Billion for the immediate payment of the pension and gratuity to retired workers from 1996 when the state was created till date and empowerment of 2000 widows across the State.

To me, this act can only be described as not only as unprecedented, divine, redefinition of governance but as God’s induced rescue mission to save the lives of our Pensioners and widows through Gov. umahi to put smiles on the faces of various families in Ebonyi State at this critical time of economic downturn in the country.

Engr. David Nweze Umahi the amiable Governor of Ebonyi State has by these acts not only redefine governance in Nigeria but has made governance in Ebonyi State both humane and a divine mission to touch the lives of the people of Ebonyi State.

As if the above wasn’t enough, the release of another N400 million for the immediate empowerment of over 2000 widows domiciled across the 13 local government area of the State to the tune of N200, 000 each puts Governor Umahi in a different class among political leaders in Nigeria.

I am glad to note that the widows empowerment programme have been expanded to accommodate additional 2000 widows that will be selected, verified and paid the sum of N200, 000 each from 1st October, 2017.

It is also on record that the N1billion naira budgeted for the empowerment of 4000 eligible Ebonyians is still being disbursed by the Ministry of Empowerment and Job Creation with about 1000 people collecting their grants of up to N250, 000 each while Others who meet the criteria have started collecting their payments with effect from Monday the 21st of August, 2017.

Thanks to God for the conclusion of the work of the Committee on the Verification of the State Pensions & Gratuities from 2nd October, 1996 to 6th June, 2017 and formal approval of the Committee’s Report by the Executive Council of Ebonyi State on Tuesday the 15th of August, 2017 which led to the release of the sum of N1.5 billion for the payment of arrears of pensions and gratuities of Ebonyi workers from 1996 to 2017.

A group, Anambra Transformation Ambassadors, on Monday said the state was not ripe for a youthful governor.

The state coordinator of ATA, Dr Chinedu Enemuo stated this at a press conference in Awka, Anambra State.

He said Governor Willie Obiano should be re-elected to enable him to sustain the core values and some development strides he had put in place.

The group, largely consisting of youths, said the state could look for a youth governor in future when proper things must have been done.

While saying that it had embarked on aggressive campaign for the re-election of Obiano, ATA said 1,3024 eligible voters in the state had signed up to the project.

The group NEWSFLASHNGR.com can understand, said it had engaged coordinators in the 326 wards and 4608 polling units in the state in that respect.

Describing Obiano as the most “friendly youth governor”, the group warned the people of the state not to make the mistake of electing a governor of the state who would destroy the peace in the state occasioned by the security Obiano had enthroned.

It said,"We are all youths in this association but we don't support a youth governor for the state now. Everybody knows how the youth approach issue in peace and conflict resolutions. This state needs peace now not the exuberance of the the youth.

Obiano has done well in security and youth empowerment. We must support him to sustain these feats. The state is yet ripe a youth governor.

“The people are in support of the re-election of the governor, and we are working hard to convince more.

“Don’t forget that INEC recently released a list of about two million voters in the November 18 poll and we already have 1,3024 eligible voters on our side.What that tells you is that Obiano already has more than half of the entire votes for the election.”

No fewer than five out of the 37 political parties contesting the poll are fielding candidates presumed to be youths.

NEWSFLASHNGR.com understand that although the Amnesty Programme has various integration programmes which include Education, Vocational training, Professional Training in Aviation and Maritime, Automobile Engineering, Entrepreneurial Training and Tourism and Hospitality; General Boroh always insisted that the best way to integrate such a huge number of beneficiaries (30,000) quickly and sustainably and also improve the fortunes of the Niger Delta Region, is through Aquaculture and Agriculture. This was a master stroke many are yet to understand.

The statement reads: “However, the task of diverting the minds of Amnesty Beneficiaries and locals of the Niger Delta from Oil and Gas to Agriculture obviously took a lot of planning and painstaking implementation. The Amnesty office approached a number of agencies and foreign embassies. Partnerships with these agencies and bodies set the foundation for Boroh’s Agricultural revolution in the Niger Delta.

Some agencies the Amnesty Office partnered with include, The National Biotechnical Development Agency, The Niger Delta Basin Development Agency, The Rivers State Songhai Farm, The Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa and Cross Rivers State Governments, The Israeli Embassy; and many other professional bodies.

“In this light, the Presidential Amnesty Office has trained and began to empower Amnesty Beneficiaries in crop farming, fishery and poultry. As at date, about 1,000 Amnesty beneficiaries across the nine Oil-Producing States are being trained in agriculture and will be empowered to establish their own farms.

Over 300 have successfully graduated and more than half of them are already manning their own farms. The advantages of agriculture are numerous. Each empowered beneficiary will have the capacity to employ at least 4 others which will gradually reduce the unemployment rate. Produce gotten from these farms will easily be absorbed into the food market and gradually reduce food importation burden of the country.

“Some of the Agro based trainings carried out by the Amnesty office include; include 105 Beneficiaries undergoing training in Agro-Business with the Songhai Rivers Initiative at the Songhai Farms, Rivers State; 100 Beneficiaries training in fish farming at the Perecastle Fish Farm, Patani, Delta State.

Also, an average of 25 Beneficiaries each are being trained in fish farming in six centres including the Delta State University by Gedisco Energy solutions, Infinite Farms in Ozoro, Delta State and Orus Resources Farm, Aluu, Rivers State.

“At the Institute of Oceanography, University of Calabar, Cross Rivers State, 96 Beneficiaries are undergoing training in fish farming. The Ma-Atari Farms, Port Harcourt are training some Amnesty Beneficiaries in agriculture and poultry farming, the Ogbebor Leadership Institute, Ologbo, Edo State is training some in rubber processing, TSC Services is training 24 in General Agri-Business at the Edo State College of Education, Iguoriakhi, Edo State while 18 beneficiaries are being trained in Cassava, Corn and Oil Palm at the Federal University of Technology, Akure, Ondo State.

“Forty eight Amnesty beneficiaries are being trained in crop farming by the Faculty of Agriculture, Imo State University. The training in agriculture is designed as a full value chain; from farming, production, processing, packaging, marketing to Agri-Business Management.

The spokesperson of Operation Safe Haven, Capt. Umar Adams, made the denial in an interview in Jos on Wednesday.

The President of Rigwe Development Association, Sunday Abdu, had accused soldiers deployed in the area of complicity, saying, “The soldiers masterminded the killing; that was what happened. The people were at home when they heard gunshots. Some of them were assured by the soldiers of safety. Then, one of the soldiers told the ward head to follow them for protection. And he obliged, believing that the soldiers would give them safety.

“As this was going on, some young men, women and children were gathered in the classroom of a primary school. One of the young men refused to enter the classroom, insisting on staying with the soldiers. The person saw everything that happened.

“He saw some people in the bush giving signs with their hands to the soldiers. It was between 6:30 and 7:00 pm; he saw the hand as if it was calling some people. The boy told the soldiers, ‘See oo, there is somebody in the bush giving signals with his hands and he is a Fulani person.’’

‘‘He said that immediately after that, there was a gunshot and the soldiers advised residents to remain in the classroom while they (the soldiers) went for the attackers. He alleged that one of the soldiers signalled the assailants to attack.

“That was how the execution was carried out,” he said.

But Adams disagreed with Abdu, insisting that the attackers were too many for them to curtail.

He said, “During the killings, there was gunshot exchange between our troops and the attackers. The attackers came en masse and they were shooting sporadically and the people in the village started running towards one of the bases where our men were deployed. That was when our men offered them safety in the classroom.

“But as those attackers were still advancing, our men had to repel them by engaging them in gunshots. But because it was dark and they were many in number, our men didn’t know that there were others who came from another direction. While our people were attacking those ones, others came from a different route and fired the people in the classroom. But to our greatest disappointment, people are pushing the blame on us.”

Adams claimed that the Fulani herdsmen wounded by the troops were assisted to escape by their colleagues after the exchange of gunfire.

“When the attackers were firing at our people, our men were also firing back. Our people were able to shoot some of them; but because of their number, they were moving those who were wounded by our gunshots,” he said.

Adams also claimed that the base of OPSH in the area was destroyed because the soldiers tried to stop the protesting women from attacking the Fulani after the killing of a young man.

He said, “About two days earlier, there was tension the day some women in Rigwe community demonstrated because a boy was discovered dead. Out of their anger, they suspected that the Fulani people were responsible and decided to take a revenge on them.

“Our people intercepted them because our mandate is not to promote violence but to ensure that people live in peace. They wondered why soldiers stopped them from unleashing their anger on the suspects. When our boys were intercepting the ones trying to cause trouble, some of them moved out to scatter our checkpoints.”

He said PDP was unable to counter APC’s propaganda before the election – Makarfi admitted that the party made a great mistake by not communicating well with people

The chairman of PDP national caretaker committee, Senator Ahmed Makarfi has revealed why former President Goodluck Jonathan and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lost the presidential election in 2015.

Channels reports that Makarfi stated what led to his party’s defeat while explaining what the PDP is doing to reclaim power from the All Progressives Congress (APC). “There was a lot of propaganda against the PDP and we were not effective enough in countering that propaganda.

“Also, we made mistakes, we were not communicating very well with the citizens; language was not one that could have been effective at that material time”, he said when he appeared on Channels Television’s Sunday politics.

Senator Makarfi said the PDP ought to have chosen its presidential candidate from the north, noting that the people of the region were displeased that they did not get the ticket.

He added that in spite of that, “the language that was used in campaigning and talking from that time going forward was not one that could have made tempers to go down.” The PDP caretaker committee chairman also accused the then opposition party of coming up with negative reports against his party.This, according to him, led to the PDP’s defeat during the elections as the majority of the electorates in the North lost trust in the party and refused to vote for its candidate. He said: “The major reason was the feeling and again, a lot of propaganda built into it and that insecurity was so much, especially related to Boko Haram.

“And a lot of negative complaints were made against the PDP and that resonated with a large part of voters in the North and we paid the price of losing that election.” Makarfi, however, said Nigerians now know better that elections would not have taken place in the region, specifically in the northeast if the PDP had not done reasonably well in tackling the Boko Haram insurgency.

He said his party has worked on its mistakes and was also working on reconciling aggrieved party members after the leadership tussle in the party which lasted for more than one year. The PDP chieftain, who highlighted what he described as mistakes of the APC, said,

”We are more than ready and if we are to go to polls today, we are confident that PDP will return elected.” “We acknowledge our shortcomings but we can see from the performance of the APC – look at the level of appreciation of the naira, look at unemployment, look at all sort crime.

“Under PDP, you couldn’t have that because we are a national party and a party that believes in fairness, justice and equity, and a party that gives equal opportunity to Nigerians no matter where you come from,” he added.

While Parmenides believed that nothing changes, Heraclitus contended that change is ubiquitous. In elementary Biology, growth is listed among the qualities of a human being. Growth is, therefore, Heraclitan, because to grow is to undergo changes, mostly positive.

There’s something inherently organic in the lives of geo-political entities such as States. Just as a human being grows and dies, so does a State. Anambra was born the day the State was created; and we need to entrust it into the hands of experienced and committed administrators to nurture it well and guarantee its growth and development, or risk its dying prematurely.

Monday 16th of October, 2017 will remain symbolic in the life of Anambra State. It is the day we set out on the journey towards the re-birth of Anambra State; from what has happened to her in nearly four years, the state requires a re-birth with a view to being set on firm and right paths to growth and development.

Hence this flag off day is one of undeniably nostalgia and hope for our party, the PDP and our people. It is also a day of change.

For far too long, we have done things the old ways; we have not always succeeded and we have paid the price for it in different ways. Our party has been out of political power in Anambra State for nearly twelve years.

This is, therefore a moment of reckoning. We are at the cusp where we must seize the moment and win our State back and place her on the national grid. Doing so will give us the voice, the reason and the impetus to serve our people well. Today, we seek to return Anambra to the stage of prosperity; and in keeping with our party manifesto, return power to the people.

Anambra State is severely broken and in utter disrepair. We must fix it!

Anambra people are suffering. Despite the grand-standing and propaganda, our people have been denied the true dividends of democracy. The Government of Governor Willie Obiano has failed us in more ways than one; but Anambra and its people deserve better. We must, therefore, change the leadership and political narrative in our collective interest.

Governance is all about the delivery of basic services, but Anambra as it is today, is doing the exact opposite; accentuated by poor leadership, fiscal recklessness and lack of transparency. The focus of all true lovers of the State should be to sweep the present recklessness aside and enthrone leaders and managers who understand the dynamics of leadership and management.

As a state we have not recently done well economically; not because the natural resources do not exist, nor because the talents are not there, but because narrow political considerations have progressively and consistently frustrated rational economic thinking and promulgation of right policies in governance. Such a defeatist mind-set is dangerous and must be changed.

Changing the leadership and governance narrative in Anambra is simple. We must borrow and implement international best practices related to governance. For now the Obiano Government talks-the-talk but does not walk-the-walk.

What this translates to is that Ndi Anambra continue to suffer — from poor infrastructure, unsanitary environment, high taxes & levies, youth unemployment, falling educational standards, inadequate housing and other unwholesome outcomes of bad governance.

We are not unmindful of the challenges ahead. Nonetheless, in deference to zoning equity and honour, I have committed myself and my administration to a single four-year term in office – 2018-2022.

The party notes with joy that Amaechi have proved that he is not only a patriotic Nigerian but a leader whose leadership acumen is tested and well proven. The following revolutionary projects suffices why Amaechi is truly Mr Railway of Nigeria –

*A contract agreement worth US$11.117bn for the construction of the Lagos-Calabar coastal railway line in Nigeria have been concluded and awarded to China Civil Engineering Construction Company (CCECC) to cover Port-Harcourt, Calabar, uyo and Aba and expected to be ready within 2 years.

Additionally, when completed, the proposed coastal railway line in Nigeria will link all sea ports. The project is also expected to create business hubs meant for commercial activities.

*Knowing Amaechi and his prudent management of public funds, this project initially awarded at a cost of US$11.917bn by the administration of Dr Goodluck Jonathan was negotiated down to US$11.117bn thereby saving millions of Naira for our country.

*Nigeria’s first high speed rails system of 186.5 km standard gauge track built by the China Railway Construction Corporation with double lines, which connects federal capital territory Abuja and northern commercial capital Kaduna had began commercial operations as President Muhammadu Buhari inaugurated operation on July 27, 2017.

*The Abuja-Kaduna route with nine stations and travelling capacity of 150km per hour with standard gauge rail lines covering a travelling distance of over 3,421 kilometres when completed would pass through Lagos, Oyo, Osun, Ogun, Benin, Abuja, Kogi, Onitsha and Sokoto, among other states.

*The Federal Government would soon take delivery of 17 new coaches and locomotives between now and December to boost rail transportation across the country of which 10 of the locomotives are meant for Abuja- Kaduna rail lines while the remaining seven would go to Itakpe – Warri rail project, which would be ready by June 2018.

*Plans are in top gear by the federal government to construct 10 new standard gauge rail lines across the country even as some new coaches had arrived the country.

*The 10 new standard gauge rail routes where feasibility studies were being carried out are as follow: The 300km Lagos-Sagamu-Ijebu Ode-Ore-Benin City East-West rail line; Lagos-Ibadan-Osogbo-Baro-Abuja high speed 615km line; Ajaokuta (Eganyin)-Obajana-Jakura-Baro-Siraj-Abuja rail; Additional line from Ajaokuta to Otukpo (533km); and the 520km Zaria-Kaura Namoda-Sokoto-Ileila-Birnin Koni in Niger Republic.

Others are the Benin-Agbor-Onitsha-Nnewi-Owerri-Aba rail with additional line from Onitsha-Enugu-Abakaliki, 500km; Eganyin (near Ajaokuta)-Lokoja-Abaji-Abuja, 280km; *Benin-Sapele-Warri-Yenagoa-Port Harcourt-Aba-Uyo-Calabar-Akampa-Ikom-Obudu Cattle Ranch coastal rail line, 673km; Port Harcourt-Aba-Umuahia-Enugu-Makurdi-Lafia-Kuru-Bauchi-Gombe-Biu-Maiduguri line; Ikom-Obudu-Ogoja-Katsina Ala-Wukari-Jalingo-Yola-Maiduguri line and Kano-Nguru-Gusau-Damaturu-Maiduguri-Gamborugala rail line.

*Other railway revolutionary projects include the proposed Kano – Maradi (Niger Republic) rail project. The construction and rehabilitation of the Itakpe-Ajaokuta-Warri standard gauge line project that is nearing completion.

*We may recall that the groundbreaking for the construction of Lagos-Ibadan standard gauge (double track) 2 x 180km rail line project, awarded to the China Civil Engineering Construction Company (CCECC), was done earlier this year and work had commenced on the site following the conclusion of its funding arrangement as arrangement are completed to complete the rehabilitation of the Western and Eastern lines, carry out addendum for sidings and loop lines on the Western line, procure and rehabilitate locomotives and rolling stock, as well as for the procurement of maintenance equipment.

The Federal Government is making efforts to source for about 16 billion dollars that is needed to actualise some of the Federal Government’s plans for the railway sector, especially the construction of two deep seaports in Bonny, Rivers State and Warri, Delta State, as well as the Port Harcourt Railway Industrial Park.

These concerted efforts to fix the railways will ease transportation of persons and goods across the country secure our major roads and save lives usually lost on most of our high ways.

With all these feats, which leader will not be happy with his performing Minister as President Buhari now sleeps and wakes up thinking about Railway system?

We commend and congratulate Mr. President for all his supports that enabled Mr. Railway to achieve this much in less than two years in office.

Awka, Oct.17, 2017 — Anambra State Government has announced free child delivery to preg,nant women in every government hospital in the state.
Gov. Willie Obiano NEWSFLASHNGR.com can understand made the announcement during a mega Solidarity Rally, organised by Sen Annie Okonkwo at Emmaus House, Awka.
The governor explained that the free medical service for preg,nant women would also involve post and antenatal care.

According to him we have commenced free child delivery in our government hospitals across the state.

“This is to enable some women have access to medical attention during preg,nancy.’’
“Some do not have money to go for antenatal and postnatal, thereby endangering their lives. What we are doing is to ensure adequate medical attention for women to reduce maternal mortality rate,’’ Obiano said.

He said his administration would continue to drive the vision of providing necessary infrastructure and welfare to the people.

Obiano stressed that his administration renovated 63 healthcare centres across the state in order to ensure easy access to the Health Insurance Services, which the state House of Assembly passed into law.

In his remark, the organiser and one of the Chieftains of PDP, Annie Okonkwo described Gov. Obiano as “God’s gift to Anambra people’’.

He noted that he was joining the present APGA-led administration to support his visions for the people of the state.

“This is the only Government that has the interest of the people at heart.
“Obiano has performed better than his predecessors within three years. I will support him because of his commitment and sincerity,’’ Okonkwo vowed.
