Health › Re: Eight Sleeping Positions And Their Effects On Health by SWG1: 11:27pm On Oct 14, 2013 |
Lilimax: Getting enough sleep is the most important thing – but did you know that how you sleep can also impact your health? Let’s take a look at eight common sleeping positions and what they do to your body.
1. On Your Back, Arms at Sides Sleeping on your back with your arms at your side is generally considered to be the best sleeping position for spine health and it’s good for your neck, too, as long as you don’t use too many pillows. That said, back sleepers tend to snore more than those in any other position and sleep apnea is strongly associated with sleeping on the back.
2. On Your Back, Arms Up This so-called “starfish” position is also good for the back. Whether you have your arms up around your pillow or not, sleeping on your back may also help to prevent facial wrinkles and skin breakouts. However, like the arms-down back sleeping position, this one can also result in snoring and problems with acid reflux. Plus, having your arms up can put pressure on nerves in your shoulders, leading to pain.
3. Face Down Sleeping on your stomach can improve digestion but unless you’ve developed a way to breathe through your pillow, it most likely leads to you tilting your face in one direction or the other. This can put a lot of strain on the neck. Sleeping face down can also cause back pain, as the curve of the spine is not supported.
4. Fetal Position Sleeping all curled up into a ball with your knees drawn up and your chin tilted down might be comfortable but it can do a number on your back and neck. The extreme curl of the fetal position can also restrict deep breathing. That considered, sleeping like a fetus can have you sleeping like a baby if you typically have problems with snoring or if you’re pregnant.
5. On Side, Arms at Sides When you’re sleeping on your side with both arms down, the spine is best supported in its natural curve. This can definitely help reduce back and neck pain while also reducing sleep apnea. The downside? Sleeping on the side can contribute to skin aging due to gravity, meaning facial wrinkles and sagging breasts.
6. On Side, Arms Out This position has many of the same benefits of sleeping on your side with your arms straight down. However, any side sleeping can cause shoulder and arm pain due to restricted blood flow and pressure on the nerves, which may be exacerbated by having your arms out in front of you.
7. On the Right Side If you’re a side-sleeper, which side you sleep on also makes a difference. Sleeping on the right side can worsen heartburn while sleeping on the left side can put strain on internal organs like the liver, lungs, and stomach (while minimizing acid reflux). For pregnant sleepers, doctors typically advise sleeping on the left side, since this can improve circulation to the fetus.
8. Pillow-Supplemented Regardless of which sleeping position you prefer, it’s highly likely that you can get a better night’s rest with less pain in the morning by supplementing your body with a pillow. Back sleepers can put a small pillow under the arch of their spine, side sleepers can place a pillow between their knees, and stomach sleepers can place a pillow under their hips to support the joints and allow for full, pain-free relaxation.
Which sleeping position gives you the best night’s rest without pain?

Christianity Etc › Re: When Last Did You Pray For Your Country? by SWG1: 1:33pm On Oct 14, 2013 |
dasparrow: I used to pray for Nigeria but somehow I stopped because prayers without works is dead. We Nigerians have been praying for Nigeria since time immemorial. Yet, things continue to get worse. My bible tells me in Proverbs 14:34 " Righteousness exalts a nation but sin condemns any people" (NIV). Take a look at what Nigeria has become. Moral values are at an all time low even with all the churches springing up at every corner of the street. Many Married Nigerians are cheating on their spouses with reckless abandonment thereby committing adultery and seeing nothing wrong with it.
Most of the single Nigerians cannot engage in courtship without defiling their bodies with out-of-wedlock sex also known as fornication. When unwanted pregnancy occurs, they attempt to abort the pregnancy or give birth to the child and then flush him/her down the toilet like the female university student did.
The young men go to the university and instead of focusing on their studies begin to join cults where they fight and kill rival cults and also molest and r*a*p*e young women on campus at will. Other Nigerians are selling and buying human body parts in an attempt to get rich quickly without hard work. Many women are selling their bodies so they can afford the latest blackberry, hair weave, brand name clothing and accessories or a fancy ride that will be bought for them by their rich already-married sugar daddies. Many Civil servants are collecting all forms of bribe from the ordinary man if not they won't do the job they have been hired for and are paid to do. Corrupt politicians continue to loot our treasury dry while the masses languish in poverty. Tribalism equally continues to thrive in Nigeria. Child sexual molestation is at an all time high in Nigeria and the perpetrators are never given stiff penalties for their crimes.
And we think the Ancient of days, the God of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, the I AM that is also known as Jehovah is not watching? We think that as a people we can live our lives anyhow from Monday through Saturday and then run to church on Sunday to raise up soiled hands that we are praising God? Who do we think we are deceiving? As far as Nigeria is concerned we are a lost cause. If we don't repent as a nation - no matter the prayers - we will self destruct and I personally will make sure I am back out of Nigeria before that happens. notwithstanding u ve to pray for the peace of the land. its a Biblical injunction. |

stewie100: one trait i notice with you guys is that you love talking alot without listening,if you read my previous message you will see my explanation.the zodiac has been around long before you and will continue to be. i find it hard to reason with idiots like previous poster. obviously there are sets of good and bad traits in life and all signs have a strong point of attraction, for example an aquarius is carefree, sagitarius is carefree, gemini also it doesn't mean cancer cant be too but its not the strong point in this sign. there is what's called moon sign and cusp also. its quite difficult to reason with idiots but i'll try. why do you think Jesus christ (the Sun) had 12 disciples, there are 12 zodiac signs revolving around the sun,you think it happened by accident?or is there a grand design by a supreme architect? |
