When you speak the truth about a certain matter does not make you arrogant.

Especially when those who should also be saying the truth will rather keep quite and rather tag along with what is bad.

Yes Sowore might be blunt in the way he speaks the truth, but the truth is what he says about Nigeria and the Criminals who distroyed the country and rob us of a better future is not a lie.

Speaking the truth does not make you arrogant.

If it was a lie then Nigeria will not be the way it is now.

I have a lot of respect for Fela and I have had some personal relationship with him in the past and I know he also means well for nigeria the same way sowore does, but I will be honest with you that Nigeira needs a STRONG HAND to deal with the terrible way things are done in the country at the moment.

Sowore has been fighting this guys a 1 person now imagine what he can do as the President of the nation.
God bless you and your generation. We all should be tired of old people and out of the rest, Sowore has distinguished himself. Look at the momentum he is gathering and lots of Nigerians are lining up with the take it back movement. I am for Nigeria and the youths can do it. Take it back

To burst your bubbles, Obasanjo had low crude oil price and we still have enough saved. Buhari and you BMC hate this country. The idea that government must have all the moneys in the world shows you and President Buhari knows nothing about economic growth. Growing the economy is simply by allowing private sector to thrive. Low exchange rates can be a good thing if government knows what to do. China dropped their exchange rates.
The idea that the only money set can made can only come from oil shows ignorance, what about great Britain that don't have crude oil? Influx of investments is what grows an economy. Do you know how much economic activities those European countries grinds from football alone? Guess what?
Government is not directly involved, they only regulate it. OK keep on defending mediocrity, as for me and other sensible Nigerians, wears ready to #takeitback
pacespot:
Let's see who lack a sense of good judgement between you and I, how much was the price of crude oil per barrel when Jonathan was in power, how much when Buhari took office? The inflation we experienced at the beginning of this administration was due to external factors: oil price slump, you can't expect a nation currency that has lost almost 200% of its value against dollar to still be competing with the same value in the domestic market. But for the intervention of finance minister and CBN, international observers expected Nigerian currency to go the Zimbabwe's way or Venezuela's. These two ministries, finance ministry and CBN, stabilized our currency through a highly rigid exchange rate which provided enough time to stir the economy back to normalcy.

So who between you and I lack a sense of good judgement?
for crying out loud... Private sector drives our gdp not the government but your pay Master made investment into the country difficult through draconian policy. How about that as a debunk of your blame on crude oil prices. Comparing us to Venezuela, a socialist government. Wake up already.

I suspect the resignation of Adeosun as the reason for this. Nigerians might not give credit to whom it deserves, but this woman will go down as one of the best finance ministers Nigeria ever had. Inflation curbed due to her prudent financial management. She resigned because of nysc certificate scandal, but Saraki had faced multiple scandals bigger than this but refused to step down.
Chai! Inflation that was served us by the same government you are serving. The same inflation Buhari admitted was single digit under Jonathan. You lack good sense of judgement or they have given you BMC allowance.

Nigerian youths, going by some of the responses am seeing here, cannot reason logically anymore. Sowore said he would promote export of marijuana to be used only for legal medical purposes and for other legal uses as production of oil, and cloths. He is mot saying he would legalize local smoking of marijuana. One state in the United States made $1 billion from marijuana production. But Nigeria with one of the best variety of marijuana in the world is burning it. God help these people. They are just "blind".

After he announced that he would increase minimum wage to N100k, the Fed Govt also promised an increase to N66k. So, you can reason that it's possible. Also, about a week he said, at a town hall meeting, he would make June 12 the new democracy day, the Fed Govt stole his idea and hurriedly announced June 12 as new democracy day.

For those talking about inflation, if your senators can be paid N50 million every month and crooks in government can launder billions in dollars and Naira, then why can't workers be paid what they genuinely deserve.

Morocco and Tunisia currently export power to Malta and France through solar energy generation. Even President Merkel of Germany was advising Buhari on her recent visit why Nigeria is doing nothing on renewable energy like solar. Sowore promised thousands of jobs through his renewable energy program to produce power via solar since people will be needed in the tens of thousand to assemble solar panel.

But you all have been mentally bastardized to the point of submission. It's your lives and you are on the way to wasting another 4 years.
They are flat dead narrow minded. Chai! I don't know why I have ding bats as compatriots! cry

Nigerian youths don't want change. they dont want good governance. all they want is to get rich quick and drive the latest car and slay in the best clothes and look cute in pictures with their family so that they can flaunt it on Nairaland and Instagram and become the talk of the town and relocate to the poshest neighbourhood in Lagos and jet out of the country on vacation to Dubai, America etc.

And that is the mindset of the average Nigerian youth.

A sensible person will ask questions like, ok, so how exactly can Mr. Sowore achieve this? What are his plans for dealing with inflation, national debt, decaying infrastructure, etc.

just go back to the beginning of this tread and check the quality of the conversation and you'll know there is something fundamentally wrong with the Nigerian youth.

I read foolish sentiments from these youths and I cry. They want good governance, yet they are getting angry at Sowore.
So how can they see whith their eyes close. The question I will ask Boda Sowore is how is he going to fulfill these promises without causing inflation? No, they will not ask... Meanwhile, truth is 18,500 naira minimum wage is way too small because of the inflation. In the last election, they voted in Buhari without asking question, nor they are rejecting Sowore without asking question. Confuse lots. As for me,
I stand with #takeitback #Sowore

You are the emotional one here... Go and investigate corruption in this government first before you talk to me. Our budget is more of recurrent expenditures because of the so called social intervention etcetera and you are way too emotional to see that. It's even debatable that this government has only being commissioning already commissioned projects. Or so you think we don't read budget and the frivolities there in. A country in debt but it's president is flying up and down for medical tourism and over 4 billion naira chop money. Chuck of our budget goes into securities, like PDP, this government can't account for most of it. Oh you are not A Nigerian, you are a Buhari st,
I don't expect anything less from you supporting corruption and incompetence. Like I always say, Buharists are living with their heads buried in sands.it's a crime on the Nigerian state to support a governent that's hurting the nation just cos you love the presidency. A big disservice.
Buterflyle0:
Every country is in debt. The problem is not the debt. The issue is WHAT IS THIS DEBT USED FOR?

Get that into your emotionally thick skull.

Its like a businessman who wishes to grow his business but lacks the financial ability and goes to someone who can fund it.

If he gets the funding and instead of putting it where it should be put per his business, he chooses to eat it. He is further impoverishing himself.

But if he actually uses it for the right thing, his business will boom and he would in turn be able to pay back the funding but with an already booming business.

Debt is good when utilized for what it was taken for and not looted. Looting was what the previous governments did with our debt which is why we have never gone forward as a nation despite all the borrowing.

The case is different now
PoliticsRe: Card Reader Not Included In Electoral Amendment Bill Sent To The President. by Swiftboy(m): 8:02am On Sep 12, 2018
This is poor sense of judgement at best coming from you trying to tell us that kinda humongous debt profile is a sign of good economy. Haba you hate this country oh. What did they do that's so impressive, nothing! Absolutely nothing! Nigerians like you are the reason we are in trouble as a nation playing partisan politics because of your belly... Because of the employment of small change they agate reach your side... You forget about your born and unborn children. You and I know how inflation and unemployment has reached all time high because of this President inability to so called change this nation or at least lead us in the right path. Is over #10 trillion naira debt with # 2 trillion debt servicing facility per anum a good thing to you? They government even agree they can't do it because PDP stole but your belly infrastructure is making long post on Naira land to mislead Well meaning Nigerian that continuing with a president we are not even sure of his health status is the best thing since slice bread. You are a freaking joker! angry
Buterflyle0:
You are one of the copy and paste people who never take time to understand anything before you copy and paste it. As long ad it appeals to your emotions you just spread the nonsense around.

Let me help you.

US National Debt - $21 Trillion - Debt to GDP 76%
UK National Debt - $2.3 Trillion - Debt to GDP 89%
China National Debt - $4.3 Trillion - Debt to GDP 41%
Nigeria National Debt - $73 Billion - Debt to GDP 21%

Debt is not the issue. It's what you do with it that's the issue.
Question is - If debt is rightly invested in infrastructure (that creates Capital Formation) or human capital (that keeps people alive & develop their skills and mental capacity), we'll be ok. If truth be told, a large Percentage of our National Debt was looted by the previous governments.

The conversation we should be having concerning our National Debt is
- Is it sustainable?
- What is it invested on?
- How much would those investments add to the GDP?
- When should we expect these ROI?

This government is committed to infrastructural awakening and is well on the course to achieving this with a time frame in mind after which we begin to get our ROI fast

These are some of the key indices that bring about an economical rating and yes as it stands now, Nigeria is the best economy in africa all thanks to this present Government which remained unwavering in the face of recession and maneuvered the nation out of those murky waters to the place where Forbes could now rate us as they have done.

Kudos to PMB and PYO.

A match made in heaven.

God bless Nigeria

So we are not thinking other sector? What about taxes and mutual funds? I disagree with you that we can only fund our budget only on crude oil. Let us have sensible and vision driven leaders first, all will fall into place.
theoldpretender:
1.We can't fund our budget at $50....we need oil to be at $140 per barrel.(Saudi can't fund its budget at $50...and they produce more oil than we do).

2.N8 trillion is not enough for Nigeria. (A fellow Nairalander on another thread even put it that a budget of N9 trillion amounts to N45000 per Nigerian).

3.For instance, university education alone needs N1.5 trillion in extra...EXTRA....funding to keep FEDERAL universites at an even keel (according to the 2009 ASUU fg agreement). This year we spent N800bn on education...ie all sectors including university...alone.

4.As Fitch puts it we need oil to be at $140 ..ie our breakeven price...which is the price we need oil to be at to meet spending demands, and balance the budget. $50 would leave us needing to borrow excessively just to stay afloat (In short...we hand over our economy to the IMF to run for us....).

5.And yes...we need to fight corruption as well. The stealing is bad because it is from a treasury that is already impoverished.

6.China is the world's lender...because in the late 1970's they made the decison to go industrial...and to become more capitalist. South Korea ,and Japan too made that decison...

7.The only rich oil producers are countries like Saudi and Norway and the UAE which have small populations, and in Norway's case...are industrialised nations as well.

djon78:

Why should we be focusing on oil all the time? Meaning that whenever oil decline we start shaking. Is it not high time all this madness stops?

In this present age we are still looking at oil to break even.

Personally I still believe that successive governments have not been honest about changing Nigeria's economy.

What stops government from overhauling the power sector. Power is the major problem. Fix power and even fuel subsidy goes away because Nigerians consume millions of litre of fuel daily to run their generators.
Therefore when you fix power problem you remove that.
Power will also fix our industries, reduce the cost of production, support local industries more than importation.

Personally I believe that the political class don't want to do the Right thing. They want the ordinary man to always be at there mercy. That's my opinion because fixing Nigeria s power is not rocket science.
PoliticsRe: Foreign Reserves Decline By $2.3bn In 11 Weeks by Swiftboy(m): 6:11pm On Sep 09, 2018
theoldpretender:
Oil has been below $80 dollars all throughout this regime, while it needs to be at $140 for us to be in a position not to borrow from anyone.

Plus...we have been borrowing money from China long before Bubu took over.

We will continue to borrow money until oil goes above $140 or until we become an industrialized nation.
Your analysis is off completely.

Even at $50 per barrel we are should be able to fund our budget. We export around 2 million barrels of crude oil per day. That's about 13 trillion Naira per year. Our budget is only 8 trillion. Let's say we are making 10 trillion naira per y year.

This country is rich but so many leakages and corruption coupled with lack of vision by our government has plunged is into poverty.

That's why we need to take our country back from the corrupt political elites that have brought the nations to her knees.

Sowore is wrong.

He was actually making a video of the airport and when asked to stop he lied and said he was making a video of himself and live streaming it.

The people who spoke to him were airport security personnel who probably had a security issue at the point and asked him politely initially to stop but he became unusually sturborn and forced them to shove him a bit then he switched the screen and attempted to catch their ID cards and names on the video.

Nigerians should learn to first obey set authority. Yes anybody can make a video while on the tarmac but perhaps that day was an exception.

Nigeria is experiencing some security issues at these times so nobody knows who might be an informant.

Imagine making a video of the tarmac and passing it on to terrorists or bad people as video proof of the parts of the tarmac with security lapses or through one can easily gain access to the tarmac and once one gains access to the tarmac then anything can be planted on planes.

He was just being unnecessarily unruly.

I am really Amazed at the Boldness, Calmness, Patience, Tenacity and Courage of this 47year old man...

Search on YouTube for the Face to face deliberations he had with The Minister of Communication in Ibadan..

Mr. Sowore has facts for every thing he brings to the table.

For Me He is a combination of GEJ, Donald Trump, Fela , Vlamidir Putin, and The France President. ( Calmness, Strong Willed, Fearless,
Courage and Boldness)

For Me Mr. Sowore is a Break from the Abnormality of Leaders we have had Since 1960....

I hv never been a friend or supporter of Sahara reporters, But with the little I have Heard and seen of this Man... I hv made my conclusion.

Mr. Sowore I am just waiting to see the platform you come up with...

I have my PVC already.
Even If no one votes u.... you Have my vote for the Presidency of Nigeria....

If you know in your Heart that you desire a Break from the Norm of Abnormalities of Leaders that we have Heard....pls Search out for this young man on any social media platform and Listen to wat he has to say...
