*Try to stay still and avoid moving the limb that was bitten. Moving the limb speeds up blood flow. All poisonous snake bites in the United States can be successfully treated if you get to the hospital immediately for anti-venom.

*Try to take a picture of the snake or at the very least you should come up with a description. The doctor can usually figure out what type of snake it was by your location and the snakes color.

*You can use tylenol for pain, but don’t use any pain reliever that thins your blood. Don’t take aspirin, ibuprofen or other painkillers that thin your blood.

Buy like 2 or 3 pieces as samples. Take it to the seller in Nigeria and tell him that you can supply the exact product to him for like N3,500 or N3,000 depending on your bargaining power. Once you agree on price on quantity. Go into action and place orders. Once the order comes, go straight to the seller, deliver to him and get your cash. Chikeina!

Imagine you have 5 of such sellers that you supply different products.

Assuming you can make up to N60,000 profit from each supply to each Customer in a month, that's N300,000 across the 5 sellers.

Think outside the box. This is very feasible. You can make even much more than that.

The social media platform X has lost 71% of its value since it was bought by Elon Musk, according to the mutual fund Fidelity.

Fidelity, which owns a stake in X Holdings, said in a disclosure obtained by Axios that it had marked down the value of its shares by 71.5% since Musk’s purchase.
Musk acquired Twitter for $44bn in October 2022 and renamed the platform X in July 2023. Fidelity’s estimate would place the value of X at about $12.5bn.

A Houthi anti-ship ballistic missile struck a US-owned and operated cargo ship on Monday, US Central Command said in a statement.

The attack against the Gibraltar Eagle appears to be the first time the Houthis have successfully struck a US-owned or operated ship, raising the stakes in the Red Sea after the US vowed that further Houthi launches would be met with a response.

It came just days after a US-led coalition carried out strikes against the Iranian-backed rebel group in Yemen and warned more strikes were possible if the Houthi attacks continue.


The M/V Gibraltar Eagle, a Marshall Islands-flagged bulk carrier owned and operated by US-based Eagle Bulk, sustained minor damage and did not report any injuries on board, Central Command said. The ship is continuing on its way.

A statement from Eagle Bulk Shipping on Monday confirmed that the Gibraltar Eagle, which is carrying a cargo of steel products, was hit “by an unidentified projectile” roughly 100 miles offshore in the Gulf of Aden.

“As a result of the impact the vessel suffered limited damage to a cargo hold but is stable and is heading out of the area,” the statement said. “All seafarers onboard the vessel are confirmed to be uninjured.”

The UK maritime security agency (UKMTO) said it received a report about the incident.

Eagle Bulk Shipping said it was in “close contact with all relevant authorities.”

“Vessels are advised to transit with caution and report any suspicious activity to UKMTO,” the maritime security agency said.

The Houthis claimed responsibility for the attack, saying they fired a number of “direct” and “accurate” missiles.

Following US-led strikes on Thursday against nearly 30 sites in Houthi-controlled territory in Yemen with more than 150 precision guided munitions, the Biden administration said the US will defend its assets and interests in the region. The US tried to portray its strikes as a last-resort option following repeated warnings to the Houthis, saying it was trying to prevent further escalation.


“We will stand fully prepared to defend ourselves and defend that shipping, if it comes to it,” John Kirby, the strategic communications coordinator for the National Security Council, said on Friday.

The Houthis promised to retaliate, saying that any US or UK asset would be a “legitimate target.” The Houthis have launched approximately 30 attacks toward international shipping lanes since mid-November, forcing many of the world’s largest shipping companies to avoid the Red Sea, one of the world’s most critical waterways.

Earlier on Monday, the Houthis attempted to launch an anti-ship ballistic missile that failed in flight and crashed in Yemen, Central Command said.

UK-based maritime security group Ambrey said that a total of three missiles were launched toward the Red Sea on Monday. The group said two of the three missiles did not reach the sea and the third one impacted a US-owned and operated vessel.

On Thursday, the US and UK struck 28 separate Houthi sites in an attempt to disrupt the group’s ability to fire upon international shipping lanes in the Red Sea. The two countries were also backed by Canada, Australia, Bahrain and the Netherlands.

The US carried out additional strikes on Friday night which were much smaller in scope and targeted a radar facility used by the Houthis, a US official said.

On Friday, Sare’e said they would continue their aggression against commercial ships in the Red Sea.

BBC Hausa is one of the major page where Northerners speak out their mind, it is a hub for both the learnant and the semi educated, while the uneducated and the old ones listened to the BBC hausa Radio mostly, and guess what all the comments that was chunked out on the page would be later on read out by the reporters through the BBC hausa radio for wider audience.

I know some people will say that I selected only the negative comments, you can go and verify on the page by yourselves. Directions
Wash and cook chicken thigh with the listed Tiger Spices, Vegeta Onion and Larsor Chicken Seasoning. Fry and set aside.

Next, blend all the bell peppers and keep them in a bowl.

Now that all the ingredients are ready let's continue to cook. First, pick your beans, wash and cook until soft, then set aside.

Pour some amount of bleached oil and add Vegeta Onion in a pot. Fry on low heat to rehydrate the vegetable, fry the bell pepper blend and add some Tiger spices and crayfish to up the flavours.

Next, pour the washed rice inside the fried pepper blend, fry a bit, add stock and water to reach the rice level, cook until the rice is soft.

Then add your cooked beans and garnish with scent leaf to give it a unique taste.

I really do not understand why the owner wants a Kenyan consultant. Well, Kenyans are good in their own ways but my observation is that they under perform when they get to Nigeria. Do not get me wrong, some of them might be good but success is more determined by the kind of farm set up and the management style. And these are your job.

Sir, believe me, you can employ Nigerians without too much indept knowledge and they will perform very well. Kenyans find it hard under the high temperature we have in South West and dealing with humidity is hard. It is why it is your job to make sure you get the appropriate equipment to handle these factors.

What is your job? Set up the farm very well. Outside temperature is 35C and can climb to 38C; hence, find a way to move it down to 28C. At worst 30C. Again, be ready to set up an excellent fungi preventive program because of high humidity in the area

Many farmers in Nigeria are beginning to use Calcium hydroxide, calcium carbonate, potassium hydroxide, etc which are the ingredients for managing PH in aquaponics. So, it is not new to many of them. They just need to follow your lead and guidelines. And for God so good, there are excellent fish farmers here. And many of them are good with tilapia which is the most used specie for aquaponics. Sure, cat fish can be used too but with a special technique.

I know a farm in Epe where two Kenyans were tried but they failed. The owner decided to bring in a Ghanian and the same happened. The farm is in a poor state as I am typing. But funny, the Nigerian workers there refused to leave the farm as they have mastered some vegetables and they are making money for themselves using the facilities there while the oga is busy looking for another Kenya. The guys have really helped themselves and I am sure they are praying oga should quickly find another Kenyan they can frustrate fast again.

In conclusion, I throw the challenge to you. Set the farm up perfectly and train your boys to handle every aspect of the farm. This is not an open field bro. This is a closed production where you can easily control the environment. And set up a good feed back so you can measure performance.

In simple terms Aquaponics presents an integrated farming system whereby; waste wster from the fish pond is used as fertiliser for the plants(in this case we intend growing strawberries and some spices) and plants purify the water by removing the nutrients increasing oxygen concentration. The water from the plants is now purified and pumps back to the fish pond. The strawberries will be grown in PVC pipes without the use of soil but stones like gravel/granite.

Aquaponics is really worth it as it tends to help one achieve organic farming. The aquaponics farm l know some Catholic Nuns manage is a greenhouse measuring 24ft by 90ft(less than half plot of land) with fish ponds of about 9,000 catfish and vertical PVC pipes on which their strawberry are grown and they harvest about 1,000 kg of strawberries on a monthly basis. In the event of pest they use rabbit urine for treatment, so the farm is 100% organic.

The waste water from the fish ponds drips through the vertical PVC pipes where the strawberries are grown, underneath the PVC pipes is a piping that takes the filtrated water back to the fish pond.

The Business Incubation Platform (BIP) of IITA has set a new production record for maize in Nigeria. BIP exceeded the previous record through its Youth Out-growers team in an out-growers program with Nestlé, Nigeria.

Maize is one of Africa’s dominant food crops, rich in vitamins A, C, and E, carbohydrates, and essential minerals as well as 9% protein. Africa harvests 29 million hectares, and as the largest producer, Nigeria produced 1.69 tons per hectare in 2019, its highest production rate. However, the Outgrowers team has achieved an average of 6 tons/ha, a massive development compared to the achievable value across Nigeria.

Despite the vast number of maize farmers in Nigeria, the crop harvest is little due to low yields. The Out-growers program, with the help of IITA, was initiated to investigate ways to increase maize yield and maize farmers’ income in Nigeria and Africa. To help achieve this, the BIP team carried out a trial with some varieties under certain conditions before the launch of the scheme in 2020. At harvest time, the team got far beyond the usual production rate, a result that seemed to achieve its goal of increasing maize yield in Nigeria and Africa.

After a meeting with the outgrower team, Victor Saleh, BIP Communication Executive, highlighted the key measures applied to achieve this huge harvest. They included the selection of quality seed, proper land preparation, planting under good weather and soil conditions, continuous field maintenance, pest scouting and quick eradication, and site-specific fertilizer application as recommended by Agriserve, a unit of IITA-BIP. Farmers were advised to take note of these key measures and implement them for better yield.

This achievement will indeed help the team to work with farmers under this scheme for better maize yield. Also, youth with limited resources thinking of agriculture can have a soft landing in maize cultivation, because it requires minimum capital, low risk of exposure, and has an excellent propensity for a relatively higher return on investment compared to other crops. The scheme also ensures a guaranteed market and higher farmer earnings, as they will sell directly to Nestlé.

IITA GoSeed, an early generation seed production company that produces breeder and foundation seeds for seed producers, can link farmers with seed producers to enable them to access improved varieties of seeds, necessary for better yield.

BIP has focused its platform on linking research, development, commercialization, and capacity development. The unit is open for possible collaboration and partnerships that will create jobs, reduce hunger, and increase the availability of raw materials for industrialization, thereby leading to higher income for farmers.

The Business Incubation Platform (BIP) of IITA has set a new record of 23 t/ha for yam production in Nigeria. This record, which was achieved through a controlled trial, has been set to guide farmers in achieving increased yields from their yam farms.

Yam is the common name for plant species of the genus Dioscorea and an annual root tuber-bearing plant with more than 600 species. Some of these species are water yam (Dioscorea alata), white yam (D. rotundata), yellow yam (D. cayennensis), lesser yam (D. esculenta) and three-leaf yam (D. dumetorum). Nigeria is the largest producer of yam in the world, followed by Ghana, Côte D’Ivoire, Benin, Togo, and Cameroon.

Traditional yam producing areas have been experiencing a decline in yam production due to declining soil fertility, poor yam plantlets, increasing pest pressures, and the high cost of labor. The IITA-BIP decided to work on a controlled trial with the aim of realizing higher yam yield and assist farmers in achieving the same in their farms.

The trial was handled by Paul Ajayi, Agronomist at IITA GoSeed, a unit that is focused on producing early generation seed in Nigeria, and supported by Ryo Matsumoto, IITA Yam Agronomist. The planting was done in April 2019 and harvested 8 months later, in November.

In an interview with Victor Saleh, Communication Executive at the IITA-BIP, Ajayi mentioned that they were able to harvest 23 t/ha, which is far higher than the average production of 13.1 t/ha in Nigeria. He went further to say that it’s possible for farmers to harvest 18-20 t/ha on average if good agronomic practices are followed.

During the interview, Matsumoto and Ajayi mentioned that farmers have low yield because they lack correct and adequate information about yam production. Issues of availability and accessibility to quality and improved seed yam as planting material; and lack of adequate knowledge on good agronomic practices involved in yam production have been a barrier to better production for farmers.

The agronomists also highlighted key pre-planting, planting, and post-planting measures that can help farmers achieve this great yield. They include proper land preparation, treatment of planting material, mulching, staking, timely and adequate fertilizer application, proper weed management, and other daily operational routines.

They further advised that yam farmers who intend to have a bumper harvest every season should go for training on yam production to acquire the right knowledge and skills in yam farming, get quality plantlets, and adopt good agronomic practices for maximum yield.

The BIP team is open to collaboration on projects that involve commercial yam production. Quality yam plantlets for seed production can be obtained from IITA-BIP-GoSeed.

Mistake that can cost you your farm: 1 fertilizer; know dosage,when and how to apply it. If you do mistake, your TOMATO will die. 2. Manure, if you do not allow your poultry littter,pig,cow e.g to compost and you use it fresh, your TOMATO will die. 3. Insecticide, if high dosage is use especially on young tomato, the result will be devastating. 4. Namatode, if you don't know history or you are using the farm land for the first time to cultivate TOMATO,it make sense to treat the soil. Have heard someone said "he lost 6000 stand to namatode." 5. Seedlings tray, after you sow seed inside seedlings tray spread them on soil (if the soil is fertile, your seedlings will thank you), if you spread them on concrete they will be dying/cripple one after other maybe 10-15days, because there root has shoot out and could not penetrate to search for nutrient/food.

My target is 3200 stand fully irrigated with drip. The seed has germinate now but I couldn't take the pix because mine phone was down (have been in farm since 14th) I might not be able to be posting day by day because am the only one doing it. Be sure I will be posting the update when am back to city.
