While Forbes estimates Musk, the Tesla founder and X owner is currently worth $251.3 billion (£191billion), Gates, the founder of Microsoft turned philanthropist, is reportedly worth $119.6 billion (£93billion).
The Saudi Royal family includes descendants of Muhammad bin Saud, the founder of the Emirate of Diriyah in the 18th century – also known as the First Saudi state.
The family is composed of some 15,000 members – although the majority of wealth is held by around 2000 relatives.
The ruling faction of the family comes from the descendants of Abdulaziz bin Abdul Rahman, the modern founder of Saudi Arabia.
The current head of the family is King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, who has been reigning since 2015.
His most famous son and heir apparent is Mohammed bin Salman. Also known as MBS, the Crown Prince is the current Prime Minister of his country and is seen by many as the de facto ruler of Saudi Arabia.
MBS and King Salman oversee an absolute monarchy and autocratic state where civil liberties and political rights are restricted.
The origin of this family’s wealth is believed to derive largely from the vast oil reserves uncovered in the country seven decades ago, during the reign of King Abdulaziz ibn Saud.
The Saudi royals keep details of their finances private, but their lavish lifestyle and big spending often attract the attention of the public.
Meanwhile, the net worth and finances of the British Royal Family are often under the scrutiny of the media and the public. Business consultancy firm Brand Finance valued the monarchy treasure now being led by King Charles III as having a net worth of $88billion (£69bn).
This means the rulers of Saudi Arabia have a net worth estimated to be nearly 16 times that of King Charles’s family.
nairalanda1: Nigeria's problem is that at independence, we had a tiny middle class, an even tinier upper class, and a very large poor underclass.
The government's policy has been, over the years, to bring out a lot of people to the middle class. That is why we have had cheap fees, free primary and secondary education, lowered standards for university admission (in the good old days, you had to pass O level very well to enter A level, and then pass A level at a high rate to enter university. Now, just pass UTME plus SSCE at 5 credits and you are in), subsidies on power, government housing estates , power expansion projects, etc etc.
But at some point, the population outgrows the economy's ability to sustain it, which is what happened, in my opinion, in the 1980's. If you remeber the 1980's, there was a lot of crisis then. The good times were ending, and the economy was growing harsh. All that started around 1983...41 YEARS AGO.
Today, we are seeing the end result. Because our economy is not dependent on manufacuring and industries, but on one source of income that is never enough for all of us, we cannot have development like we used to. Add corruption and stealing, which makes matters worse.

In 1960, we should have done what South Korea did. Focus on industrial development. Focus on becoming an exporter of manufactured goods and services. Focus on vocational and tech education...meaning a higher focus on polytechnics, and monotechnics. ...leaving university for high scorers and achievers. Keep the A level...6524 system, not 6334. Make power and the oil sector profit making entites and not kill them with subsidy. Maybe invest in solar for more off grid power...even if it means begging UN and WB for more money for that. Improve tax to gdp ratios. And so forth. But that would mean things would get worse initially before they get of better. As it was South Korea's industrial development under Park(d 1979). did not see benefits until the 1980's Infact they were behind North Korea in the 1960's.(as confirmed by one American analyst back then, who by the way did not like North Korea).
But we focused, like most African countries, on trying to build a middle class with very limited sources of income. Today, we have a heavily debt ridden economy that cannot create jobs. That leads to the banditry and kidnapping that we can see. Too many idle hands leads to devil's workshop.
Same problem many African countries face. We should have chosen industrialization over socialism and making life better for everyone on one limited source of income. It's not to late to change course...but I don't see it happening. Not under this government, not under any party. Because Nigerians want their daily bread.

When I checked where it was brooding on her eggs, that was when I saw this huge 6ft long snake. I think it's a cobra(first time of seeing a cobra in my life)

I was not comfortable with the snake because I've never killed snake in my life before, so we called on some guys with experience to come and assist us, even some Hausa guys passing by joined in, Na so we kill am ohh

Though the business of domesticating grasscutters (Thryonomys swinderianus) is known in the here in Nigeria, the sub-region and in other parts of the world, We've not been able to significantly optimise the benefits of grasscutter production for the economy.
Unlike chicken and other meat products that encounter keen competition from imports, the grasscutter virtually has no competition. But the production of grasscutter somehow remains in the category of subsistence farming, placing demand far above supply.
Many of those who patronise the grasscutter meat buy them from hunters who use hunting dogs or people specialised in trapping the grasscutter in the wild.

CGIAR country convener, Aline Mugisho, while speaking at the event themed “Scaling Innovations and Technologies for Food System Transformation,”, noted that the purpose of the program is to ensure communication of different research and policies that have been developed to accelerate sustainable development goal number two: zero hunger.
CGIAR is a global research partnership that unites international organizations engaging in food security research and aims to reduce rural poverty, increase food security, improve human health and nutrition, and ensure sustainable management of natural resources.
Stakeholders Converge in Tanzania for Africa Food Systems Forum Mugisho pointed out that the CGIAR’s primary role is to produce agricultural innovations and technologies for land, water, and food systems transformation to combat changing weather patterns in the country.
She noted that most of the exhibitors at the event are farmers and that one of the organization’s goals as a research institute is to change the face (wrong perception) of who a farmer is and what farming is about.

FarmersManual: In its move to address the challenges posed by climate change in food production, the Jigawa State government is set to introduce a drip irrigation system as part of its efforts to increase crop output and reduce the cost of production.
In Dutse, the Commissioner for Water Resources, Alhaji Ibrahim Garba, disclosed that the new drip irrigation system is more cost-effective and efficient compared to the prevalent flood irrigation system currently practiced in the state and other regions.
Drip irrigation remains one of the most innovative forms of irrigation; it delivers water and nutrients directly to the plant’s root zone across the field in pipes called dripelines, featuring small units known as drippers that emit drops containing water and fertilizer, resulting in the uniform application of water and nutrients.
Garba noted that adopting drip irrigation extends beyond water efficiency and includes addressing the productivity gaps resulting from constant flooding and drought-related climate change issues in the state.
According to him, the new irrigation system is capable of increasing crop output by up to 60% per acre, adding that it will also enable farmers to reduce the use of fertilizers and water in their irrigation farmlands while increasing production output.
The commissioner said that the state is working on transitioning from traditional irrigation methods to drip irrigation through the introduction of the system in each Emirate center and establishing demonstration farms to allow irrigation farming communities to learn and potentially adopt the new system.
FarmersManual: The Principal Investigator of the TELA maize project, Professor Rabiu Adamu, has disclosed that the highly anticipated Fall Armyworm-resistant Tela Maize variety will be made available to Nigerian farmers for planting by June next year.
Professor Adamu made this known while speaking in Nairobi, Kenya, at the African Conference on Agricultural Technologies (ACAT) and noted that the new maize variety has a 20 percent yield increase compared to the conventional variety.
He said maize will be released as hybrids and will be marketed by licensed seed companies to assist in the seed multiplication of this new maize variety in order to ensure there is no shortage of the seed.
According to him, tremendous progress has been made and that what remains is to fulfill the regulatory requirements, adding that by the end of December this year, possibly mid-January, a dossier would be submitted to the National Varietal Release Committee for evaluation and release of the transgenic maize hybrid for the first time in Nigeria.
“So, we are proposing to release at least two new high-yielding fall armyworm stem borer-tolerant maize hybrids for Nigeria, which is a great development because we don’t have any resistant varieties in the country.
“This maize variety has proven to be resistant to pests, and there will be some yield increases if you cultivate it compared to the non-resistant hybrids. That is the promise we are making. So in the next two months, there will be some great news for Nigerian farmers; hopefully, the farmers will have access to those seeds in May or June 2024.

Today’s youth are extremely resourceful and have the latest technology as well as a vast knowledge available at their fingertips, and it is for exactly this reason that entrepreneurship is on the rise amongst our generation.
This is according to Gerrie van Biljon, executive director of Business Partners, who says although he believes entrepreneurship as a chosen career path is on the rise amongst the youth, they often don’t have the funding or experience available to start a business, and it is exactly for this reason that many choose to enter a business venture with a friend or family member for financial support, business acumen and experience.
He points to the recently released GEM’s State of Global Youth Entrepreneurship report, which highlights that in sub-Saharan Africa 77.7% of new or nascent businesses are primarily reliant on family or friends for funding to start a business. “Although passion, drive, creativity and resourcefulness are extremely positive attributes for an entrepreneur to possess, experience and funding also play a large role in the success of a business.
“To go into business with friends and family or not is an age old question which has been answered in many different ways over the years, with many experts still deliberating on the topic. There are many reasons to support each response. My advice is to proceed, but with much caution. As with any business partnership, it is important to have certain ground rules in place from the beginning.”
Here are some guidelines for young entrepreneurs to consider when entering a business partnership with friends or family members.
Establish trust
Do you trust your friend or the family member? If yes, then proceed and start discussions about going into business together. If not, then don’t consider going into business with this individual, as trust is one of the most important factors in a business partnership.
Identify complementary skills
As business partners, you will both possess different skills, and it is ideal to go into business with someone that possesses skills that complement yours. Before deciding to go into business, review what type of skills are required for the business, and then take time to review your own skills and allocate roles accordingly.
Plan for the worst and best case scenario
As partners you should plan ahead on how to deal with disagreements that may occur in the future. As such, you should define roles within the business and agree who is the leader, as even with a 50/50 partnership, only one person can have the final say when a decision has to be made. Appointing an external board can also assist with this process.
Document everything
If the business is ever extremely successful, how will profits be shared? If the business fails and doesn’t survive, how will its debts be paid off? These are some of the tough questions that need to be addressed before going into business together. Once all aspects of the partnership have been evaluated and the terms agreed on, protect each other by signing relevant agreements which should include an exit clause.
Separating business from personal relationships
Will your personal relationship survive a business failure? All entrepreneurs should plan for the worst case scenario, and part of this is to determine whether the relationship can survive a business failure. If the relationship is valued and cannot survive a business failure, it is probably not wise to pursue the venture together.

james550: A friend of mine wants to invest 2.5million naira here in agriculture, he is a succesfull business man and also an importer of electronics gadgets and phones, now he wants to try his luck on agriculture expecially farming, he said real time farming made his grandparents rich back in the days in the village without any modenized equipment or tools been sold nowadays.
The thing is, he is based in lekki lagos state but sometimes travels out oversees for business. He wishes to partner with any farmer that can really give him good results.
He already has an empty 15 acres of land in ogun state currently doing nothing for him. Originally the land was been bought so he can build a massive warehouse there to store goods.
This little idea of his was been brought up when he read in the news lately how some nigerians lost all their life savings and investments in south africa,
he said so if i was also in this same south africa like this people, so this is also how i could have lost all my only survival without anything to hang on to?

FarmTech: I’m looking forward to do this in a larger scale. Some people travel all the way to Songhai farm, Benin Republic to learn this among other things. Now I’ve tried it and saw the harvest, I strongly believed it will be profitable. Fly is free and everywhere.
FarmTech: After the flies have finished laying their eggs. cover the bowl with something and place under a shaded area. Protect it from ants, lizards, chickens etc. I used chicken wire to cover them and finally cover with zinc. The chicken wire will prevent lizards and the zinc will stop chickens. I placed the growing bowls on a raised platform. The little kerosene I sprayed on the platform will stop ants. In few hours time you’ll see some small maggots. Leave them for 5 days before you harvest.

FarmTech: With the high price of animal feed, growing maggots is beginning to make sense. Maggots come from flies. When flies lay eggs, the eggs pass through several stages before they turn into flies. One of the stages is the maggot stage. You can use the maggot to feed fish, chickens and other animals. I’m targeting fish and chickens but I’ll be starting with chickens.
Growing The Maggots To grow maggot, you need cheap inputs like manure, kitchen waste and sawdust or rice hull. I mixed rice hull with manure (my layers’ droppings) in a bowl (let’s call this growing bowl) and added just enough water to make it moist but not wet. I then mix thoroughly and placed some kitchen waste on this mixture to attract a lot of flies. You can use soup, fruits or anything that will attract a lot of flies. I used my dog’s leftover garri balls mixed with soup.
