LiteratureRe: This Falsehood That Bishop Ajayi-crowther Wrote A Book In Igbo by Swiftgrp: 11:14pm On Dec 15, 2023
Sangoamadioha1:
According to the web search results, Bishop Samuel Ajayi Crowther did write an Igbo book in 1857.

The book was called **Isoama-Ibo: A Primer** and it was the first book in Igbo language ever published¹.

The book had 17 pages, with the Igbo alphabet, words, phrases, sentence patterns, the Lord's Prayer, the Ten Commandments, and translations of the first chapters of Matthew's Gospel².

Crowther was a missionary linguist who learned Igbo from Simon Jonas, an Igbo man who came from emancipated slave families who settled in Freetown². Crowther also wrote a vocabulary of the Ibo language in 1882, which was the first comprehensive dictionary in Igbo².

Crowther was a descendant of King Abiodun, an Alaafin of the Oyo Empire, and he was also a patriot who advocated for African evangelization and economic development³⁴. He was the grandfather of Herbert Macaulay, the founder of Nigeria's first political party².

Onoh Chukwuma Richard, The CEO of Faso Energy Limited, died by consuming sniper.

According to Reports, he borrowed a huge sum of money but lost it in a bet.

Earlier today, he went live on Facebook to reveal plans to exit the world. He recorded a wordless video in a lemon-coloured t-shirt. That was his last Video.

He also made a post, writing: "Today is my last day on earth. I going to meet my maker."

PropertiesRe: FHA set To Demolish 677 Houses In Festac Over Contravention by Swiftgrp:
Dshocker:
Yes Festac is a federal government plan, occupied by every tribe.

But Igbos didn't influx Festac due to the nonsense you listed above, get your fact right.

Southeast used to be the most peaceful region, until Buhari started heading Nigeria, and insecurity exploded all over Nigeria.

The reason why Igbos chose Festac was because, their business is centred around that area, Sea port, Alaba, Tradefair, and other environs.
First off, I have known Festac Town since the late 1970s and l lived in Festac from the early 1980s, so I am very familiar with the history of Festac Town when it was well-planned like a European or American gated estate with stand-by automatic generators in case of pwer outages which was very rare then. Things started going south as I stated in my original post from the very early 1990s when some of the military guys and their cronies started distorting the master plan of Festac Town.

You obviously are NOT well-informed for you to have said what I CLEARLY stated in my post is nonsense! What I stated is NO different from what many well-known and CREDIBLE Ibo PUBLIC AFFAIRS analysts have written over the years.

I have read over the last 25 years a lot of articles written in publications by public affairs analysts of Ibo origin seriously lamenting the bad state of kidnappings, armed robberies, rapes, baby factory, and drug trafficking by Ibos outside and within Iboland. I still have those publications filed away. Back in the late 1990s and 2000s, there was a lot of kidnappings which COINCIDED with a noticeable large influx of Ibos [who could afford to do so] after the year 2000 into different areas like Okota in Isolo, and Amuwo Odofin [where Festac Town and environs are located], etc, in Lagos State, Ibadan in Oyo State, Port Harcourt, Abuja, etc, [especially the guys from Anambra who started to LEASE lands and build houses because many could not go back on holidays for New Yam festival because of vicious kidnappers, armed robbers and rapists]. For example, some of the areas such as Okota has Yoruba folks as indigenes in their home town which is part of the larger Isolo Kingdom did NOT have a large presence of Ibos even up to the late 1990s. Those few Ibos who were there were essentially tenants. I have it on authority from several interviews with Anambra sources that Anambra folks constitute 80 percent of Ibos in Lagos, and more than 50 percent of Anambra indigenes live outside Anambra as being lamented by a respected Ibo public affairs analysts over 10 years ago.

I remember reading major publications that about 70 Nnewi millionaires alone had been kidnapped by those vicious criminals who they paid huge ransoms to. It is also NOT all Ibos that came for genuine trading activities or because of any seaport. Some are economic migrants who came to look for jobs, and others were and are into pure crimes such as traffic robberies, hijacking of petrol tankers on the highway, armed robberies, kidnappings, etc. I have several CRIME PAGE page newspaper publications as evidence. One of the criminals from Enugu State who had shops in Alaba International in Ojo, [said he was using the shops as a cover for his criminal activities] was arrested for engaging in brutal armed robberies in Lagos State and across the border in Benin Republic with his fellow Anambra Ibo armed robbery gang members. He then used proceeds of the crimes to quickly build a mansion along Ikotun Road, and was spending money any how!

He CONFESSED to the Police at the Police Head Quarters in Lagos State that many of the guys claiming to be traders at Alaba International, Ojo are into many criminal activities and ONLY use trading and importation as a cover-up. This arrest was within the last 10 years and was published in major newspaper publications.

=> https://www.nairaland.com/2108377/popular-alaba-trader-whoterrorise-lagos

It's the same thing that the armed robber and kidnapper called Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike [Evans] from Anambra was doing too. After terrorising the Eastern part of Nigeria [Iboland] by killing and kidnapping several Ibos, he relocated to Lagos, bought a mansion at Magodo Estate, and was posing as a legit self-styled billionaire. He continued kidnapping people within Lagos State for ransome till he was traked down by the Intelligence Unit of the Police!

A lot of so-called Alaba International traders have been arrested by the NDLEA for being drug barons who were sponsoring Ibos to act as cocaine, heroin, and methamphetamine drug pushers to Brazil, Ethiopia, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, etc. Several methamphetamine laboratories set up by Colombians and run by Ibo drug barons in various parts of Lagos State such as Iba New site, Satellite town, Ajao Estate, Ibeju Lekki, and more in Asaba, Nnewi, and Ozubulu in Anambra State have been BUSTED by the NDLEA and these fake millionaires who are young within their 20s and 40s in age have been sent to jail! This is the reason why I even believe that many of the houses springing up outside Iboland are proceeds of crime! Why would anyone rush in building mansions all over without due diligence? Even after they were told to stop construction by FHA on the Festac Phase 2 lands, they started attempting to bribe FHA staff because they thing money is the king!

My respects only go to the older Ibo folks like Coscharis for being the real wealth builders, but some of these very loud and younger Ibos claiming to be millionaire traders, but without a pedigree are NOT totally genuine.

Second, Alex Oti who is now the Governor of Abia granted an interview to Punch [when he was still running under APGA] where he indicated that his male ancestor came from Arochukwu to settle in Ngwaland and that 90 percent of Ngwaland came from Mbaise and the rest were Aros and Ibibio. I remember everything offhand till today because I have a very lucid memory and love reading history as well.

The MAJOR point in that Punch interview is that he said things were so bad in Aba and Abia State because of the armed robberies and kidnappings that led to Abians including some of his friends to ABANDON Abia and relocate to safer states such as Lagos! He cleaarly stated how a friend of his had to CLOSE DOWN his factory in Aba and relocated to Lagos State because of crimes [from kidnappers such as Osisikankwu]. I had that article filed away because it further explained why there was a RISING number of Ibos RUNNING to live in Lagos and other South West States, Abuja, Rivers [PH] and more. Even right now, there is an increase in the number of Ibos who have moved from Anambra into Asaba to live because they are fleeing violence from ipob.
CultureRe: Ekiti As The Largest Subgroup Of The Yorubas by Swiftgrp: 12:27pm On Dec 13, 2023
9jakool:
I think we need to apreciate the diversity within Yoruba people. It may seem like Oyo is the largest, there are many people in Oyo state who aren't Oyo. In Oyo, there is Ibarapa in the South. The Onko (Oke Ogun) occupy half of the state's total landmass and 1/3 of the population. The Onko people are very distinct from the Oyo in their dialect with the use of the ch sound, which is rare among Yoruba dialects as well as additional nasal sounds. Large ancient settlements like Saki, Iseyin, and Kisi in Oyo are all Onko. Both the Ibarapa and Onko were once grouped under Ekun Otun province during the Oyo Empire. Ogbomosho, Oyo, Ibadan, and Ilorin are all considered Oyo, although with some very minor notable differences. Even in the Old Oyo days, they recognized these small differences. The dialect spoken in Oyo town was considered and I quote "purest." Towns like Ibadan, Fiditi and Iwo in Osun state were grouped under Epo division to distinguish them from Oyo, Ilorin, and Ogbomosho which were grouped in Ekun Osi province AKA Metropolitan Oyo. These minor differences are important because they stop us from generalizing or overlooking certain groups. Even though Ekiti and Okun are biding entities, these two groups are far from homogeneous. When you travel across Ekiti, you will notice these differences. For example, while related, the dialect spoken in Omuo is very different from the one in Ado. The Okun for example are further divided into Yagba, Owe, Oworo, Bunu, Ijumu, and Igbede. However, I feel like sometimes large groupings are helpful because they are more biding and unifying. You are a little correct about Lokoja being a "non-indigineous"(cosmopolitan) town, however we can't forget that the earliest settlers of Lokoja were the Oworo-Okun. Quarters like Felele and Otokiti are Oworo.

There seem to be a little confusion about the people living in Osogbo which I can help clarify. People tend to group Ibolo as Oyo. I understand why. Ibolos were once part of the Oyo empire. During that period, they were grouped under the Ibolo Province. Towns like Osogbo, Offa, Ede, Oyan, Ikirun, Ilobu, Okuku, Ejigbo are all Ibolo. Till today, Offa is regarded as more of a cultural capital than Osogbo. People have to understand that one of the main reasons why Osogbo gets more attention is due to its administrative role which has led to many other Yoruba groups to migrate there. The historical center of Osogbo is still primarily Ibolo though.
Bump.

Insightful.

People need to be guided. FHA ( Federal Housing Authority) is in charge of FESTAC Town and FESTAC Extension, if due diligence was carried out by the buyer of landed property they would have being informed of impending danger. As a Surveyor, I worked for some of our Igbo brothers and advice them appropriately. Some listened and some believed with money nothing can happen. Please and please, this has nothing to do with Lagos State Government rather, a non challant attitude and "Nigeria factor".
@camcor,
Indeed. You have largely spoken well.

But to be honest, I've never seen a more overbearing, boastful and dishonest group of people before. These guys have continuously offended a major Nigerian and Southern ethnic group that is more than 50 million strong worldwide and it's time to deal with this nuisance behavior once and for all.

Please stop refering to Ibos as "our brothers"... These are the people who have sworn to damage the image of Yoruba folks for years now. Peddling fake history and telling PSYCHOTIC lies, insults, and taunts that the iconic Chief Obafemi Awolowo, GCFR, SAN, drank rat poison to commit suicide after plotting a fake coup against IBB. when we know full well that NOTHING like that took place because Chief Awolowo passed on peacefully in 1987 and got a heroic burial with eulogies from IBB, and those of us who were alive in 1987 can testify to that! I have documented evidence of all these online and offline attacks on Yorubas and other ethnicities going back to the late 1990s and 2000s all because of the Nigerian Civil War of July 1967 to January 1970[exactly 30 months OR 2 years 6 months], so folks like you have to be on guard and avoid being politically correct.

First off, that land at Abule Ado near Festac belongs to the Federal Housing Authority that oversees FESTAC Town and they are blaming Lagos State and Yoruba folks for the demolitions of houses that have been marked for demolition years ago due to an illegal encroachment on the land. Such an asinine behavior from these trolls. Even after explaining to the idiots among the Ibos, they continue to deliberately try to guilt-trip folks of Yoruba ancestry. The Ibos for long have launched massive hate speech and defamation of character against folks of Yoruba descent for decades and attacks started online since the 1990s. So what is going on is part of the campaign of dishonest calumny and the earlier the Inteligence agencies like the DSS moved in to arrest and prosecute the ethnic bigots among the Ibos who deliberately manufacture fake news copied from the ipob propaganda websites and reposted by these dimwits on NL and Twitter, the better.

Last but NOT least, I will blame the past governments in Nigeria from the PDP to the APC for allowing the insidious and ethnically bigoted elements among the Ibos to continue to spread toxicity online by cyberbullying and defaming people of various ethnicities on all their propaganda websites. If not because Yoruba folks are over 50 million worldwide and have a huge population online to try to counter these viral fake news and this NL false thread title, they would have ran Yorubas under the speeding train like they have done to practically all other relatively smaller ethnicities in Nigeria.

PoliticsRe: Famous Buharist And Tinubu Supporter Posh Mama Is Dead. by Swiftgrp:
Gerrard59:
Before history gets distorted, let me state the genesis of the hate-filled politics Agbadorians created in Nigeria.

In the lead-up to the 2011 elections, Punch Newspaper was already exhibiting signs of tribalism against Jonathan's administration. Then, during the subsidy removal in 2012, stalwarts of today's APC, then known as ACN/AC whatever, launched a series of calumny against Jonathan's government, accusing him of all sorts. APC supporters carried coffins with Jonathan's name inscribed on them. They had his pictures and tied them to goats! They burnt his pictures like Islamists burn Israelis and America's flags. Then came the Chibok girls scam, one of the biggest played globally. The deputy governor of Borno is Nigeria's VP today.

Jonathan was vilified, mocked, cursed, maligned and thrown all sorts of names. As someone whose parent is from the same region as Jonathan, I was shocked reading the tribal-laced insults Jonathan received. This is aside from Buhari weeping crocodile tears when he lost in 2011; his irate supporters went on a rampage, burning churches and slaughtering people, including innocent corp members. Buhari had to be begged THREE days after the results were announced to call his belligerent supporters to order before calm was restored. This got the intervention of foreign bodies because Buhari did not listen to any Nigerian elite. His supporters burnt everywhere burnable, something Obedients have not done, nor has Peter Obi instructed them to do.

Some of the words against Jonathan received were:

- "A druken fisherman" - Wole Soyinka
- "A shhepotatmus" - Wole Soyinka describing Patience Jonathan.

The same Wole Soyinka mockingly described the fedora hat Jonathan wore as an Ijaw man. More here: https://www.nairaland.com/1357171/soyinka-embarrassment-admirers-patience-jonathan; https://www.nairaland.com/605766/rascals-govt-jonathan-drunk-fisherman

Igbos were the only large group of Nigerians who defended Jonathan, whose administration had high economic growth. Igbos, too were mocked and derided for supporting Jonathan. Then came the 2015 election, which had Buhari elected. Agbadorians used his tenure to mock, gloat and curse Igbos. They were elated when Buhari used the military to terrorise the southeast, including murdering hundreds of innocent young men and even having them drink muddy water. See here: https://www.nairaland.com/4052484/soldiers-order-ipob-members-swim

In 2023, senior government officials used the term "Chinedu" to describe GRV, a man whose father has a long history in Lagos simply because his mom and wife are Igbos. That was even small. Another government official, Bayo Onanuga, was delighted to tweet that Igbos have been taught a lesson in Lagos. Before the lessons were taught, Mc Oluomo, a government-backed thug, came out in public, threatening to beat and kill any Igbo person who voted for Labour Party.

During this period, another government official by name Mr. Jubril Gawat organised a rally, "My Lagos, not your Lagos" a few days before the state election. During this same period, we have had Agbadorians call for a re-cap of the civil war atrocities where over three million Igbos were killed. A pharmacy store retailer in Osun did so by tweeting it to the whole world. After the victory of Adeleke in Osun state, shops owned by Igbos were razed down by irate youths associated with the APC.

During the Lagos election, Yorubas, who seemingly looked like Igbos, were flogged by fellow Yorubas. Igbos and other ethnic minorities who looked like Igbos were flogged, killed and had charms thrown at them. I recalled an Ibibio man by name Aniedi was beaten to death. Who knows Aniedi could have hated Igbos, but he got beaten to death because he looked like an Igbo man. The youth leader Dayo Israel championed a "Ronu" cause and re-chanted civil war slogans during his campaigns.

To crown it all, Agbadorians went on a rampage, stating that a union between an Igbo person, most likely a woman, and a Yoruba person, most likely a male, would produce children with "tainted blood". They even did descriptions (picture attached) and created threads with it. One of the champions of that thread is over 40 years old and resides in a nondescript area in Peckham, London.

So before anyone says Obedients were toxic, you have to look at the genesis of it all. APC introduced the politics of crude bitterness and hate into Nigeria. They should learn to take their own medicine and eat their vomit!
There is NO distortion here, but SIMPLY facts of history are being stated because I'm an OG with a vast knowledge of Nigerian history. I've been a member of NL since 2005 with an older moniker so I can completely give the sequence of events of what happened. Many of the young Ibo Peter Obi LP supporters used to be strong members of the PDP and they were the ones who launched vicious attacks online attacks for PDP against ACN/APC and other political parties even before the 2011 that you quoted on NL. In 2011 right up to the 2014 election cycles, these political and ethnic hate attacks escalated into the vicious back-and-forth being witnessed today. Even after the Ijaws of the Niger Delta had moved on after the 2015 elections, a lot of mainly young Ibos still carried hatred for the then President Buhari of Nigeria under APC control due to the Ipob vicious indoctrination and propaganda.

I CLEARLY stated in my post that you quoted that for over 20 years (meaning right from the 1970s to the early 2000s till now) a group of Ibos have always ENGAGED in criminal defamation, hostility and propaganda towards Yorubas, Hausas, Edos, Ijaws, Ikweres, Middle Belt folks and other Nigerians over the events of the exactly 2 years 6 months [30 months] Nigerian Civil War which lasted from July 1967 -January 1970. You are here bringing up links to Nairaland posts that were made in the year 2011 when infact these online hate speeches have existed long before then from the 1990s to the early 2000s and these facts would NULLIFY most of the weblinks you posted.

Long before Nairaland was created in March 2005, irredentist Ibo secessionists websites, Yahoo! Groups, and discussion forums were created in the late 1990s to the 2000s to INDOCTRINATE Ibo youths with hate towards other Nigerian ethnic groups and distorted historical events. I used to visit those Massob and other mushroom pro-biafra secessionist websites to read all the hate and outright lies or half-truths being churned out. Some of those websites from the early 2000s still exist in cyberspace with all the rabid hate those Ibo youths were spitting. These past online evidence going back to the 1990s will be used in the Nigerian OR international courts of law of it comes to that to combat these lies and hate-filled propaganda. Those secessionist Massob websites were the forerunners of the Ibo-owned Ipob hate speeches that started In the early 2010s before 2015 when GEJ left the scene.

You also have IGNORED or forgotten in your quick attempts to disparage some prominent folks that it was even a large number of prominent Yoruba folks and other Nigerians especially from the South who mobilized in Lagos and Abuja insisting that Goodluck Ebelema Jonathan must become the Acting-President of Nigeria after Yar'Adua became indisposed. Professor Wole Soyinka, The Save Nigeria Group of Tunde Bakare, Femi Falana, SAN, Yinka Odumakin and many other Yoruba pro-democrats rose up in 2010 when former President Yar'Adua was very ill to speak out for sustainable and true democracy which finally led to Goodluck Ebelema Jonathan's coming onboard as the Acting-President.

The reason Prof Wole Soyinka was upset and pained about former President Goodluck Jonathan towards 2014 as reported was NOT as a result of ethnic bigotry but simply because of the massive rise in nationwide insecurity as exemplified by the kidnapping of the Chibok girls by Islamist terrorists and the insecurity in major states in the South West due to the activities of Ijaw pipeline vandals in Arepo in Ogun State and the creek areas of Ikorodu, Epe, and Victoria Island in Lagos State who then turned to brutal armed robbers, killing, raping and kidnapping for ransom [including a first class Oba in Lagos was kidnapped].

It was when former President Buhari came onboard that he ordered the Nigeria Airforce jet fighters in 2016 [with the aid of reconnaissance aircraft], to bomb the many camp hideouts of the vicious Ijaw militants in the creeks of Arepo, Ikorodu, Epe, moving right into Ogun Waterside and coastal area and creeks of Ondo State to decimate them and since 2016 there has been peace in those areas. Professor Wole Soyinka was just one out of millions of Nigerians who where angry with the way Jonathan mismanaged corruption and maorly insecurity in Nigeria after so much hope was put in him, so he was voted out in 2015. So it was very wrong of you to single out only Prof. Soyinka for demonization when there were millions of Nigerians who felt Jonathan's performance was way below par in especially the area of security and wanted him out.

"Lagos State Politics"
It was the young lady named Sissie Yemi who posted an offhand sarcastic claim online about some Yoruba folks and facial looks or skin complexion during the 2023 election in just a tiny part of Lagos. I READ her original online post and it was worded differently from the FAKE news and fictitious lies being bandied around online by certain very notorious Ibos falsely claiming that Yorubas who were light-skinned and looking well-built were prevented from voting. This is the most insulting and ridiculous claim anybody can make! The Yoruba folks are more than 50 million worldwide and there are Yorubas with different shades of brown skin complexions from dark brown to naturally light-skinned.

NOTE:
General Alani Akinrinade and Saka the famous multilingual Nigerian movie industry actor and senior lecturer are two of the most prominent Yorubas who are naturally light-skinned and there are thousands of Yorubas who are light in complexion based on family genetics. Many other ethnic groups have light-skinned family members in every part of Nigeria. NO Yoruba man or woman would ever SEGREGATE his fellow Yoruba kith and kin based on light or dark brown body complexion or body build or facial appearance or say they should NOT vote! Rather, ID card verification or deep questions would be asked by Yoruba folks when conversing or trying to identify a person who claims to be a Yoruba or NOT. So, the fake story being pushed around by the propaganda machinery of some of the Ibos during the election cycle against the Yorubas who are a major ethnic group in Africa of over 50 million people who are indigenous to 4 countries in West Africa (Nigeria, Benin Republic, Togo, and Ghana via the Ga people and naturalized Yorubas of Ghana and even Cote D'Ivoire) will NOT stand. There are thousands of Ibos from Anambra, Imo, Abia, Enugu, Ebonyi that I have seen from decades past who are NOT light in complexion but dark skinned, so skin complexion is essentially based on family genetic. I noticed though that parts of Imo and especially some Umuahia folks have this very light skin complexion but NOT all of them.

Some notoriously dishonest Ibos have formed a very vicious habit of throwing the first stone, while taunting others, then when there is a strong backlash or response, these people start shouting and playing the VICTIM. Unknown to these young folks, there is a vast documentation and digital evidence of every bad thing Ibos have posted for years online before even Nairaland was created and these would be used to knock the winds out of the sails of these criminal defamations, ethnic bigotry and propaganda. It is even shameful that these group of Ibos copy and paste false propaganda materials from those hate-filled Ibo owed websites, social media platforms and paste them here on Nairaland and they carelessly leave a trail of evidence of their defamatory activities online.

Yujin:
Lol. I repeat, there's no any useless Ijaw initiation and naturalization ceremony anywhere. This lie will never stick anywhere. Whatever happened over there was as a result of a cultural melting point. Before Jaja was even born or came to Bonny, many other Igbos have been kings and occupied big positions in Bonny. There are names to back it up. The founders of Bonny had mostly Igbo names and are of the Ngwa/ Ndoki stock.

The other powerful house that fought Jaja and sent him packing out of Bonny was led by another Igbo known as Oko Jumbo who was also an ex-slave. Bonny was Igbo speaking right from inception just like Opobo. They happened to adopt the Ijoid communal organization of using war canoe houses because it suited the terrain very well. You'll be surprised if you ask the traditional names of most of the founders/ owners of those war canoe houses. They adopted English names but when you go into their archives, most have Igbo names. They want you to take it that all Igbos in Bonny were there as a result of slave trade but the reality on ground proves it to be false. The Igbo dialect of Bonny isn't that of the other Igbo groups who suffered more in the slave trade but is of the Ndoki stock who traditionally occupy important positions in Bonny.

For Opobo, the Andoni people even claim that they gave that portion of land to Jaja after he consulted them. As you can see, Opobo is very close to Andoni and is by the mouth of the Imo river. Ibibios aren't really bordered by the coast which most of you don't know. The stretch from Andoni to Ibeno are the same people who speak the same language that is Ekoid. A language similarity test was done for Andoni language between Ekoi and Ibibio. It was discovered that Andoni is more closer to Ekoi than their nearest Ibibio neighbours. This also supported their claims of migrating from Cameroon through Ekoi groups before settling where they are now.

When Jaja went to Bonny, 14 of the 18 war canoe houses went with him. Bear in mind that Bonny was Igbo dominated at the time so most of those who went with him were still Igbos. Any Ibibio influence in Opobo is very minimal. They were very good in palm oil production which Jaja liked but when it came to the Opobo community, there's hardly anything related to Ibibio to be seen not even their popular ekpe masquerades made it to Opobo. Ikot Abasi NE of Opobo was annexed by Jaja and was called Igwenga. They were not traditionally the same land. Ikot Abasi had people living there and doing their things but not the same in Opobo. It was a virgin land. The next community south of Opobo known as Queenstown was formed by one of Jaja's close ally and chief who disagreed with him on certain things. It was also a virgin land. There were lots of virgin lands in that area. Infact, most of the marsh lands of Rivers state were virgin lands and had communities formed only in 1800s. Only Bonny, Okrika and Andoni were known communities before 1800s. Original Okrika was a very small Island Ijaw fishermen used to settle on to gather their fishes before coming up towards Port Harcourt waterside to sell to Igbo and other upland farmers in exchange for crops.

All the Kalabari communities were new settlements found by Igbo, Ijaw migrants from Bayelsa and Efik/Ibibio plus other central delta groups of people. This is why Kalabari got her name from New Calabar after some Efiks left Old Calabar to come to those empty lands are resume the trade they've been doing in Calabar. Over time, New Calabar turned into Kalabari.

Finally, I don't have a link to those documents now. It was in an old device. It is easy to get though. Just google about the history of Andoni people. The author is a popular Andoni man. I forgot his name.
I appreciate the detailed feedback here especially on the Andoni. I'll do some detailed keyword searches online as you've stated.

Thanks again.

I don't blame the igbos or yorubas who engage on tribal war here on nairaland. I blame the owner and moderators of nairaland who allow the nuisances to go unabated. For continuously pushing these things to the front page, they are worst
Indeed IHart... But aside from the administrators of all these online platforms, we'll have to place the bigger blame for these relentless mob behaviors being exhibited online and offline on the past Federal governments led by PDP and APC for NOT fully using the intelligence agencies to track and bring those who deliberately spread hate speeches and criminal defamation to justice in court. Get the well-known offenders tried and sent to jail.

These kinds of behaviors where Nigerian Presidents are defamed and insulted online with pure lies and fake news being told everyday is NOT allowed in the U.S., UK, EU, and many Asian countries. You try that and you get picked up and charged to court because the acts are a security risk and there is NO absolute freedom anywhere in the world. In 2021, a French dude hit the French President Macron in public and he got arrested and charged to court and sentenced to jail for doing that.

I’ve not seen a rich kid seek social media validation like this girl.

A whole billionaire’s daughter acting like Destiny Etiko

Quite unfortunate, even Dakota knows how to pretend better since she married a billionaire’s son!
Dakore Akande you mean (not Dakota).

Indeed. Ifeoluwa (Cuppy) should have learned or taken short relationship courses or read books at a much younger age (early 20s) so as to enable her to navigate the minefield of male/female interrelationships and not just fall into the arms of any guy that pays her attention or throws compliments at her. The real world is not the same as what you find in romance novels.

As the oldest daughter too, she must have been under subtle pressures to bring a guy home to know her parents since the younger sister was already engaged to another dude (Eazy).

Academic-wise with a Masters degree, and as a DJ, she's done well for herself.

I was pleasantly surprised to
purchase these freshly harvested
sweet potatoes while driving by
a local market somewhere in Kaduna
State today.

No doubt, these tubers can feed up to
10 people for a single meal.

If we buy ½ (half) crate of eggs 1k and
other things like tomatoes etc N500,
we can end up feeding 10 adults with
with only N2k, about $2.50 (or 25 cents/ person)❗️❗️❗️ shocked shocked

The United Nations or US no go
understand how you can feed 10 adults
with less than $3❗️❗️☺️☺️☺️
That would have doubled in price as of November 2023.

Onne port generated 246billion in 10months in 2023. Nobody forces apapa port on you, your lies are constantly blown in your faces, get to work and stop always lamenting, bunch of lazy bones.
True that. The Onne river port is working, these ill-informed people would come online to spread propaganda against Apapa ports without due investigations about Onne.

Other river ports in other areas of Nigeria have shallow waters that have to be dredged annually at an expensive rate running into millions of Naira, so that is NOT profitable and sustainable. Then the foreign shipping companies don't find the river port aside Onne profitable because when they bring cargo containers in via their big cargo container ships, they have to take containers out and the only place that is really profitable for them is the Lagos, Ogun, Oyo axis because of the large numbers of manufacturing industries and industrial estates that use imported raw materials brought in cargo containers and then export their finished goods.

There's also the LaKaJi route (Lagos, Kano, Jibia) trade route which is the biggest trade route in Nigeria and essentially feeds into the Lagos Seaports operations for importation and exportation.

“Before I conclude, let me add that the ministry’s decision to consider the re-establishment of a National Shipping Line, through a strategic PPP arrangement, is borne out of our desire to capture a substantial share of the estimated $10 billion annual ship charter market within the country.

My thoughts exactly. We should not let civil servants and corrupt public officials fully run it till they run it aground again. Once it is done by PPP, the business entity mamaging the shipping line should be listed on the Nigerian stock exchange and managed efficiently like NAHCO,SAHCO etc.
@The bolded.

That's a very wise thing to do. There's a need to grab a part of the 10 billion USD annual ship charter market in Nigeria.

I remember the NNSL in the early 1980s had a lot of ocean-going charter ships but the Military governments from the IBB era of the late 1980s gradually destroyed the fortunes of the former NNSL and Nigeria Airways with their bad policies.
