PropertiesRe: Reasons Why You Must Own Your House by swizzle(m): 4:19pm On Jun 29, 2013
[quote]Maybe in Nigeria.....I actually favor renting Vs buying a home and here is why

1. You Stay Flexible

Do you have every aspect of your life planned out for the next several years? Whether or not you do, things can change quickly. Renting gives you flexibility. You can pack up all your things and move with short notice, and maybe an early termination fee. Compare that to the process of selling a house, which can take months.
2. You Have More Options

With the housing market at a low, people are reluctant to sell their houses and condos. So they turn to renting instead. As a result, the market for renting is bigger and has better options than the buying one. Rentalads.com is a rental property website with thousands of rental choices. It allows you to search your options and select your choice with the click of a mouse.
3. Owning Can Be More Expensive

Some people balk at renting because they don’t want to spend money on something they’ll never gain ownership of. But homeowners also spend a lot of money on fees and taxes that never apply to their principle or equity.
4. Renters Insurance Is Affordable

Renters insurance is significantly more affordable than homeowners insurance. Even with the lower cost, you can still get substantial protection and coverage.
5. Rental Rates Are Steady

Right now the housing market is low, but it won’t always be. It’s always changing. Remember the roller coaster? In contrast, rental rates stay the same. There is some variation, but it’s not as frequent or as drastic as variations in housing costs.
6. Someone Else Does Repairs

When something breaks in your home, you are the one who has to fix it or fork over the cash to replace it. A new refrigerator alone can cost thousands of dollars. Some rental contracts require the landlord to take care of most repairs and replacements.
7. The Issue of Taxes

Renters don’t have to pay property tax. Sure, you might be required to bear some of the expense in your monthly rent. But the landlord will have to deal with the brunt of the cost and most of the tax paperwork. Another reason why renting a house is better is that homeowner tax deductions are overstated. In fact, half of homeowners don’t get a tax break.
8. Vacation Homes

We all envy the people who can afford to own vacation homes. Well, now you can be one of them for a fraction of the cost. Vacation homes are available for rent all over the US. The expense is reduced, but the novelty and fun are not.
9. Renters Have Less Liability

Lightning strikes without warning. Washer pipes break and flood your basement. Renters who are without fault don’t have to carry the liability when the unexpected occurs.
10. No Mortgage!

Anyone who’s had a mortgage knows how draining and time consuming it can be. The stifling legal requirements and procedures. The piles of paperwork that look like gibberish. The long process of modifying or refinancing. Not to mention the risk of getting overcharged by your lender; which has become a common problem recently. You can easily avoid all of this by renting.

CrimeRe: Banker Sentenced To Death For Killing Wife by swizzle(m): 11:15am On Jun 05, 2013
are you really asking that question?are u a visitor in Nigeria?where the men feel their wives are their properties.cases of husband mudering their wives is a dime a dozen.this is just one of the few cases that get taken to court.the other lady that died in my area was beaten to death by her husband cos she had the 'effrontery' to take 'his' money to buy baby food for 'their' three month old baby.
If this man is truely guilty,I suggest they not only hang him but burn his corpse as well and flush it down a pit toilet swarming with maggots and houseflies. NONSENSE.
@lorretta u my darlng, you are one angry lady...I hope all is well with you? smiley

Jokes EtcFunny 'first To Comment' Vote Of Thanks by swizzle(op): 3:43pm On Feb 13, 2013
I must say that I am not a fan of the 'first to comment' craze but honestly this one cracked me up...I saw it on notjustok grin grin grin

I feel so honored to be the first comment. All of my hardwork and dedication has paid off. Getting the top comment has been a dream of mine for many years, and i would like to thank those who have helped me along the way. First and foremost i would like to thank god for giving me this opportunity. Next i would like to thank my parents. I want to thank my cat Belle, for being really fat and always there for me. I would also like to thank my pet tadpole for surviving against all odds for over a week. Next i would like to thank the squirrel that lives in my backyard for climbing trees because that gives me inspiration that i need to get through the day. I also want to think Max Rainer for giving me someone to beat in Mario Party. This is a special moment in my life and i would like to thank any of my unmentioned friends and family that have helped me along the way. This moment will be a moment that i will never forget. I just remembered a few other people i would like to thank; notjustok.com, the fish i caught in the third grade, my light in my room bc i wouldn’t be able to see the keyboard without it, the internet for letting me go on notjustok.com, my house because without it i would be homeless, and last but not least i would like to thank all the people out there that actually took time out of their day to read this. I cannot stress how much of a big deal to me this is. I have been trying to be the first comment on a post for years, but that has not been possible until this amazing day. Hopefully my good luck will continue, but this is undoubtedly a rare occasion. If you asked me how i did this, i would say, you can achieve anything u set your mind on. To all the kids out there reading this, i would like to tell them to follow their dreams. Being the top comment is amazing, thank you everyone

My mom's elder brother, the brightest in the family was conscripted while having his lunch...he neva finished that lunch and he never came back home. My grandmother died after the war out of heart break. She could not bear losing her favourite son.

While it is a good thing to do, it is not east to forget. You can't just wish it away. The earlier it is admitted that there was gross injustice in that war (by both sides?) the better for us all as a country.

And for those that rant that the Igbos cry about the war, you won't understand cos u did not witness it. Those that did was over the radio nd newspapers. I did not either (thank God) but my dad fought in that war and my uncle died in it and that is the story for many Igbos

And people still walk on it. When it collaspes and people die, the government will be accused of killing them. Why cant these folks stay away from the brigde since the authourity doesnt want to intervene? It is true that the government has been ineffective but the citizens are not helping themselves either.
