Pastor Enoch Adeboye, Overseer, Redeemed Christian Church of God, said he could have graduated from the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN) if not for the outbreak of Nigerian civil war in 1967. Adeboye made the disclosure in Nsukka on Tuesday after being conferred with Honorary Degree of Doctorate of Divinity. He said he gained admission into UNN in 1963 and his matriculation number was 1800. He said: “It was the order of the then governor of the Eastern region Chief Odumgwu Ojukwu that non Igbos should leave the East; that was why I finished at the University of Ibadan. “I am happy that a governor of Enugu state accompanied me today to UNN while the then governor of the Eastern region sent me packing because of civil war; that is God for you. MultiChoice, organisers of the Big Brother Naija Reality TV show said hosting the show in South Africa, would enable it achieve high production and meet timelines. A statement issued by Caroline Oghuma on behalf of the company, explained that the shooting of the show in South Africa would enable it use its fully equipped house. “We have a fully equipped house in South Africa, which is used for the Big Brother shows. “This means that we are able to achieve high production values whilst meeting tight timelines and ensuring the show comes to our viewers on time as planned, and with the same globally renowned quality. “The house has played host to other Big Brother countries including; the general Big Brother Africa, Mozambique, Angola and now Nigeria,’’ the statement quoted Oghuma as saying. Meanwhile, the Federal Government has directed the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) to investigate the circumstances surrounding the reported shooting in South Africa of the ongoing Big Brother Nigeria Reality Show. The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, in a statement directed the NBC to determine whether Multi-Choice, by shooting the show in South Africa, had breached the Nigerian Broadcasting Code in any way. He said that the commission should also investigate the issue of possible deceit, since the viewing public was never told that the event would be staged outside Nigeria. “As a country of laws, only the outcome of the investigation will determine our next line of action,’’ he said. The minister said that concerned Nigerians had bombarded his office with calls to complain about what they regarded as an anomaly of shooting outside the country a show meant for Nigerians. He urged them to remain calm, while the NBC investigated the issue and submitted its findings. Press Release MSME Clinic: Beginning with Aba is perfect decision, Ikpeazu tells Osibanjo, others Abia State Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, has expressed gratitude to the Federal Government of Nigeria for the confirmation of his position that Aba, the Commercial Nerve Centre of Eastern Nigeria, is the national Capital of Small and Medium Scale Enterprise in Nigeria. Governor Ikpeazu said this when he joined the Acting President of Nigeria, Professor Yemi Osibanjo, and other top government functionaries at the media launch of the Federal Government's Micro Small and Medium Scale Enterprise Clinic, (MSME Clinic) in Abuja. Prof. Osinbajo is slated to be in Aba, the Enyimba City and the SME capital of Nigeria on Thursday for the launching of the MSME clinic. Speaking at the Aso Rock event today, Governor Ikpeazu, who doubles as the Chief Promoter of Made-in-Aba Products, commended the FG for doing the right thing by beginning the novel MSME Clinic at Aba. He said that the decision has confirmed that Aba is truly, the SME capital of Nigeria and called on the Federal Government to further support small and medium scale enterprises by urgently fixing Port Harcourt road Aba and Aba-Ikot Ekpene Highway in the commercial city of Aba. He highlighted the potentials of MSME to support economic growth, create jobs, get the country out of recession and add significantly to national GDP. Govenror Ikpeazu told the Acting President and other participants at the event that his government had earlier identified MSME as a major engine of economic revival. He also informed his audience that his focused efforts at dealing with the infrastructural challenges at Aba, the MSME capital of Nigeria, is based on his conviction that a robust MSME can lead to massive wealth creation when properly incubated and supported. He highlighted the MSME potentials of Aba, especially the leather and garment industry and thanked the Federal government for choosing Aba as the location for the maiden outing of the program. He also took time to highlight some of the achievements of his administration at Aba including the ongoing work at Faulks road and the Osisioma interchange, that was recently flagged off. Funnicator:Don't be so sure, there are so many rice producing communities in abia state. All it took was to establish the rice processing facilities. Also,a group of Abians led by Hon John Godson, a member of the Polish National Assembly , have started the process of setting up a modern ranch at Ali Imenyi in Umunneochi LGA of Abia State. The project is being facilitated and supervised by Abia PPP agency. |
Abia is ready to join its neighbouring states like Anambra,Ebonyi in rice production. The said abia rice will flood the market by April.

[As a man and as a husband it’s your duty to protect your wife’s heart, not to break it. Don’t hurt your wife in these silent ways: 1. You check out other women Your wife wants to be your queen. She wants you look at her and think “I married the most beautiful woman in the world”. What do you communicate when you check out other women? You basically say that you desire other women more than you desire her. Your wife wants to be desired, loved and appreciated. She wants to be your number one. Think about how much you hurt her before you allow your eyes to wander. 2. You only talk about yourself Imagine you come home from work and you immediately start to tell your wife about your boss, your coworkers and your plans for the weekend. She listens because she’s interested in your life. She wants to know how you feel and what you experienced. Now it’s your turn to listen to her. But the moment she opens her mouth, you walk away from her to switch on the TV. How does she feel? Just think about how you would feel if she did the same to you. 3. You don’t do the small things you used to do Do you remember the time when you and your wife met? Do you remember your first date? I’m sure that you acted like a real gentleman. You opened the door for her. You looked deep into her eyes. You gave her a gentle kiss on the head. Now that you’re married, you don’t do any of these things. You are too busy. You don’t have time. And when you are really honest to yourself, you don’t care about these things anymore, now that you won her heart. But just because she’s yours now doesn’t mean she won’t leave if you break her heart. Make time to be that caring, loving and thoughtful gentlemen your wife first fell in love with. 4. You spend more time with your friends than with her I encourage you to spend time with your friends. Having good friends that you can rely on is extremely important. However, you are not married to your friends. You are married to your wife and you should give her the feeling that she’s the most important person in your life – because she should be. Nobody wants to feel like the second choice, especially not the woman who loves you more than anyone else. 5. You rather look at your smartphone than at her You are getting older and your wife is getting older too. You might not know it, but one of your wife’s biggest fear is losing her beauty. A woman’s perception of her own beauty is directly correlated with her self-esteem. I’m sure you want a confident wife who feels beautiful. Good. Then show her how beautiful she is. You don’t have to say a word. Just look at her with a cheeky smile and give her a kiss. Stop staring at your smartphone and appreciate your wife. She deserves it. 6. You don’t desire her anymore Desire and passion are important aspects of every marriage. Once the flame is out, it’s hard to save your marriage. Giving your wife the feeling that she’s not beautiful will break her heart. Giving her the feeling that you don’t desire her will rip it into pieces. Act before the flame goes out. 7. You don’t see that she’s suffering Let’s imagine for a second that you only talk about yourself, spend more time with your friends than with her, and you haven’t had an intimate moment in weeks. She’s worried that you are not attracted to her anymore. She’s scared that you don’t care anymore. That’s bad, but you could still rescue the situation. Being aware of her suffering and reacting appropriately is your last chance to save this sinking ship. The best thing you can do is to tell her that you are sorry, talk to her about everything and promise to better yourself. The worst thing you can do is to ignore that she’s suffering and to move on as if nothing is wrong. If you do that, she’ll move on too…but without you] |

Sylverly:ABUJA—THE Local Content Industry Patronage Bill, otherwise known as Made in Aba Bill, yesterday scaled second reading in the House of Representatives. Buba Jibril (Kogi, APC), who led the debate said that it seeks to make it mandatory for government Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDAs, to give priority to local manufacturers and indigenous companies in the procurement of goods and services. Jibril added that the bill also seeks to prohibit the exclusion of locally produced goods in the procurement process. The lawmaker, who expressed concern that the current procurement process does not favour locally manufactured materials, emphasised that it kills the morale of the local manufacturers. According to him, it affects negatively the growth and development of local manufacturing industry in the country. “This bill proposes to reverse the ugly trend to create a favourable atmosphere for the growth of our local industries and make the procurement process more transparent through diversified competition between indigenous and foreign actors" “The legislative proposal will also create a sense of corporate responsibility by the MDAs towards local manufacturers engaged in the public procurement in Nigeria,” Jibril said. He further said that the bill will enhance the probity and integrity of the procurement process through effective legal regime that create favourable atmosphere for participation by the local companies. Contributing to the debate, Rep. Samuel Onuigbo (Abia-PDP) said that the bill will promote local manufacturing as well as facilitate job creation in the country. According to Onuigbo, if we protect our own we will benefit in many ways including creation of employment, increase in GDP and we will see our economy grow fast. Rep Abubakar Chika (Niger-APC) faulted the dependence of foreign products and services. Chika called for attitudinal change among Nigerians in the quest to promote locally made goods in the country. “We need to change our attitude, we need to seek for services locally instead of training our children abroad and seeking for medical services abroad. |
