If the Russians were bloodthirsty like the Americans they would have fought this war shock and awe style like the Americans did in Iraq. The Americans bombed everything from the air and decimated Iraqis infrastructure for weeks before sending in ground troops, killing thousands of Iraqi civilians. Putin have been very restrained in destroying Ukraine infrastructure that he was coming under criticism in Russia for being weak, a guy like the former president Medvedev would have bombed Ukraine back to the stone age.

The true federalism myth is propagated by mostly Southern intelegentisia who think that the North is 'taking away all their money' and who think that if we had more of the oil money being spent by the South (whether it is the South sourth, old East or the whole South...they don't know...and if you challenge them on that, they will start shouting about how the South west can survive without oil and kaza kaza...lol)...we would suddenly be developed, and the North would instantly become an agric exporter...and we would all live happily ever after.

Rich countries, not Saudi Arabia or the UAE...the really rich rich countries...develop because they use their available resources to make goods and servicices that the world can use (which is how China, Japan, Germany and even the US got rich.). Most of the true federalisim crowd and to be fair most of their opponents, don't want that. They believe that all 200 million or more of us can live on revenue from 2.4 m barrels of crude per day....which isn't even enough for the UAE. They think we should be like Saudi because...we are an oil producer...forgetting that Saudi produces 10m bpd, and has a populaiton of 40 million people and can get away with the appearance of looking rich...until the West develops cheap renewable energy, and then that would be the end of their moneypot. And they think that government should give them the servicies of a first world country....without paying the taxes , tolls, etc because 'we are an oil producing country'

Some even suggest we should go back to the regions...like the regions worked? (There is a reason why we have states.)

I am a neutral when it comes to Nigerian politics, which is why I don't support APC, PDP, even Obi and Kwankwaso....because all of these candidates economic polices amount to 'sharing oil money equitably'...even Obi who talks about being productive...but won't fully commit to removing subsides and deregulating power supply totally...or petroleum (and is even thinking about removing forex restrictions so that at the end the naira would lose its value even more. Don't even talk to me about Atiku or TInubu, who should be retiring self).

The thing is, what Nigeria needs is economic polcies that would earn us more money....not true federalisim, true whatever, going back to regions, etc. We need to be industrial. We need subsides to go on power and petrol so that we can attract more foreign investment and profits in both sectors. Not true federalism...

If this is all Tinubu has to offer, sorry, better not vote for him.

Nigeria economic trouble started in 1996 when a law was passed that mandated that all companies operating in that country should have Nigeria citizens control 55% of equities. That was when companies like Kingsway, Leventis. and British Tobacco Company started leaving the country. That mandate was a back door way of Nationalizing foreign companies. Remove export barrels and remove those mandates trust me you will start seeing foreign investment in that shoot-up. As Forex unification, Nigeria has been using different Forex exchange rates. Are you aware that to pay school fees you can buy a dollar @432 but for business people, they have to buy @ 730. Something has to change. I know for a fact that no publicly traded company in America will ever come and invest in Nigeria. They will never be able to explain to their shareholders how they will have to invest their money and surrender 55% of equities.
