He who fights and retreats lives to fight again. But he who was confronted with a fight and he decides to boycott the fight by killing himself is a disgrace in the world of cowards.
ol' boy, let's call a spade, a spade, jo!

Ojukwu did not retreat rather he ran off and abandoned his people when he realised his own life was at stake. This was after he had sent millions of his people on a "chicken run" .

Yes he lived but not to fight again as he returned to nigeria and sat at the same table (and in the same political party) with those whom he vowed "to only deal with on the battlefield" and who pogromised his people.

But then, ojukwu's action was hardly surprising as these folks are known for their gross propensity to feed from their own vomit!

So it is not cowardice to run away from war u started leaving behind ur ppl to be slaughtered anyhow only to come back to want to be a president of the same country u fought....isn't it better to die for what u believe in than to chicken out and run to a neighboring country. Ur own definition of bravery sure tell the kind of ppl u all are...
In some neck of the woods (in Nigeria), when a WARLORD abandon his people on the battlefield and took to his heels in the middle of the night, dressed like a tranny then he is said to be a HERO!

As for the bolded portion above, Ojukwu never believed in biafra so wtf do you expect him to die for it. Biafra to Ojukwu was just a means to actualised his ulterior ambition but after sacrificing millions of his people to this end and realising that it ain't going to happen, he did a "Ben Johnson" to Abidjan leaving his people at the mercy of the enemy.

That is ibo logic 101 there- they want to leave the contraption they help birthed but not without the golden goose. Very smart Alecs, i say.

The poignant reality is that even when they get their biafra, they will still need to "hustle" among the people they claims hate and wants to annihilate them.

Anyway, my point was the thought that engulfed me afterwards.........kept wondering wth she was doing in yorubaland if she hates the yorubas THAT much?

You are wrong! angry Chinua Achebe did not sow the seeds of hatred in their minds, like you claim. Those seeds had always been there, right from the end of the civil war. The contemptuous disdain many of them had for other ethnic groups, (most especially, yorubas) had always been a part of their outlook. All Chinua Achebe merely did, was to put it in writing....
Thanks for the bolded above, o jare!

Infact, my first experience of tribalism (in the countty) was from an ibo woman who went out of her way to express how much dislike she has for me - an 11yr old boy, simply because of my tribe.

To say, i was lost for words will be the grestest understatement, i have ever made. The bigot was living in yorubaland and yet, still hating on yorubas!

well the good things about these "yoruba" guys defending their tribe like voltron only means that we are not one and never are we going to be. gradually moving towards breaking up. so we need more of things like this.
And what is wrong with "these yoruba guys" defending their own..........when they perceived them to being wrongfully castigated ? Don't you guys defend your folks even when they have been caught with their greedy hands in our collective cookie jar? So it's okay for you to defends yours but others are not allowed to do same. Tell us, what does that make you?

As for the bolded part of your post above, can you tell us when has the country ever been ONE ?................even as your impish leaders were grinning from ear to ear (like a satiated cat owner who has just given his cat, her favourite brand of cat food) chanting "One Nigeria".

I would have thought that you folks will be over the moon at the events extantly transpiring in the country as it can only culminate in her eventual break-up, which was what you guys wanted ever since July 1966 when it finally dawned on you covetous and greedy souls that the domination your leaders promised us, is not about to occur anytime soon or even in the forseeable future.

I disagree with your assertion that we all loathe each other cos its simply not true. Don't take all this online bruhaha too seriously. Also yes its unfortunate that the illiterate and ignorant amongst us have been uses to perpetuate violence, but you cannot point to the underbelly of the north while ignoring the glaring ills in southern Nigerian society. We must remain a united nation (restructuring is a good idea) or the other option is war, a war in which everyone will lose
But of course, it’s only online brouhaha, however the FACT of the matter is that thousands of innocent southerners have been gratuitously slaughtered by your so called “illiterate and ignorant” northerners yet you somehow expect the victim’s families and friends to embrace northerners with open arms! Oh well, i guess it’s surely your prerogative if you choose to bury your head in the sand.

Isn’t it instructive to note also, that, since the inception of this pseudo united country, your ostensible “illiterate and ignorant” brothers have always been willing tools at the hands of your political elite and leaders to behaviours grossly inimical to our well-being? Meanwhile, justice has never been seen to have been served!!!

It goes without saying that southern Nigeria too have its own social problems including the ”illiterates and ignorant” ones within their ranks but can you point to an instant when these miscreants had descended on your brothers with such ferocity and barbarity that have come to be the hallmark of your people’s expression of “love” for us?

There’s absolutely no reason whatsoever for us to remain a nation as it’s evident that there is no unity in the country, has never been (since her inception) and would never be so why belabouring a glaring fact? Are we joined at the hips? So why the hell must we remain united (sic!)?

As per your option of war, oh well, bring it on. No one has got the monopoly on violence. We can only predict the advent of war but no one can foretell how it will end.

PoliticsRe: I Want Nigeria Destroyed – Asari Dokubo by T9ksy(m):

Thank God all this blackmail and threats of war end on the internet. Nigeria is here to stay and its territorial integrity is non-negotiable. Any threat to the unity of the country will always be met by force. Let's hope all this talk ends online
Old boy, no pun intended but it never cease to amuse me when Nigerians talk about unity. Has that nation ever been united since her creation? I think not

When a white man in faraway Denmark drew a non-complimentary but apt caricature of Mohammed, our so called brothers in the north in protest, set upon their innocent southern brothers slaughtering them in their hundreds.

What about the aftermath of 9/11 when bush jnr. decided to invade Afganistan in search of Osama bin laden? Our so-called northern brithers(?) in protest again set upon us, sending many of our innocent folks to an early grave.

I could go on and on as myriad examples abound where you northerners are quick to slaughter us fellow nigerians at the slightest opportunity however whenever we say , enough is enough, then you all will start chanting "unity". What flippin' unity are you referring to?

There's no flippin' unity in that country. We all loathe each other and sooner or later like a structure built on quicksand, this dumb contraption will fall.

Simply put, you folks needs Nigeria much more than Nigeria needs you. It was under the ruse of one nigeria that an iboman tried to become leader of yoruba affairs. How else could he have done it?

Even ojukwu whilst supposedly fighting to help his people form their own country still found the need to try and over-run yorubaland.

Even free education, zik could not provide for his people though when Awo initially suggested the notion, the former and his clueless and incompetent sidekicks mocked him however these same people who have no concept of shame and a proclivity to eat their vomit, migrated in droves to yorubaland chorusing "One Nigeria" just so they could partake in the free education that Awo (whom they just love to hate) had set-up with his people' s fund to benefit primarily his kith and kins.

That senile hate-filled bigoted man that penned that piece of junk, he called "there was a country", claimed that by the mid-60's, his tribemen had wiped out yoruba's lead in the educational field but the inherently mischevious git failed to eluciadate on how his tribesmen accomplished such a feat.

Bear in mind that this speech was made in 1967 and the west did not enter into the war until later. Now put your sentiments aside and ask yourself why his position changed.

Comon, it's not rocket science now, was it ?

When Awo noticed Ojukwu's rag-tag soldiers heading for yorubaland after having already over run the mid-west region and foisted a fellow Igbo on the locals. It was obvious what fate ojukwu had in mind for his so-called yoruba "brothers"

Not to mention how ojukwu dropped bombs on yorubaland killing innocent yorubas whilst looking for hausa/fulanis to avenge on.
