giftq:Same way some dullard followed the Oxford graduate into a war against a national govt armed with bows and arrows. They must have thought it was mortal kombat on Ps4 |
WetinConsignMe:The bolded above is just your flippin' opinion which counts for nothing as far as we whom Awo took his decision on her behalf are concerned. We will forever be grateful to the sage for not turning our region into monuments simply because of a discord between former bedmates (North and East). I leave this asinine thread with a quote from the sage to Ojukwu (at their meeting in enugu)........... You are remote from the West; you have advantages which we do not possess. We cannot rush without rushing to our death at the same time. We are not cowards in the West but we have to move cautiously, because if we do not do that you might not have us alive; you would only have monuments all over the place. |
9jaDoc:I wholesomely concur with you if after reading the quote below: (vii) During the period of Biafrans troops’ presence in your territory, all political measures, statements or decrees shall be subject to the approval, in writing by myself or on my authority....it still remains "beyond obvious (to you and your ilk) that Ojukwu was not interested in ruling the west", then there's no point to this discourse. Let's at least, just agree to disagree. |
WetinConsignMe:At their meeting in enugu, Ojukwu bragged to Awo that, "I started off this struggle in July with 120 rifles to defend the entirety of the East", that almost a year but according to you, his strategy was to bring his war of secession to yorubaland where the people were certainly not in the position to defend themselves as their region was already been occupied by the "enemies". what a warped strategy to predicate his secession bid on. |
WetinConsignMe:For crying out loud, after reading the letter, how can you still maintain such an idiotic stance.? For starters, who asked ojukwu or even Banjo to liberate us from the northerners? So, ojukwu decided in his (ulterior) magnanimity to release banjo from prison (where his fellow ibo officers had placed him on a trumped-up charge) to go and liberate we yorubas from the northerners. Who asked ojukwu for liberation? When did we ask ojukwu for succor? I thought he was seceding with his ibo people from the union his same ibo people pulled us into against wise consul to the contrary? Ojukwu should have just concentrated his effort and meager resources on taking his people out of nigeria first instead of going about "liberating" others (and imposing his will on them) who at no time implicitly or explicitly asked for his help? (iv)Biafran troops will, after the liberation of the Yorubaland, remain in that territory only for as long as we in Biafra consider it necessary for the Yorubas to consolidate their position and sovereignty against any external threat. So, in essence, we yorubas will only be replacing nigerian army of northern extraction for biafran troops? And you call that liberation? what kind of liberation is that? So, Ojukwu will be the one to tell us when he thinks we are ready to protect ourselves from external threat? Geez! what a bloody insult. We yorubas that have already created a massive and enviable empire and civilisation when ojukwu's forefathers were still roaming around in the jungle in animal hides will now have to rely on him to inform us when HE believes we are able to maintain our sovereignty? What a bloody cheek!! But Ojukwu is not power hungry o! The liberation of Western Nigeria will be a prelude to the liberation of all Yorubas up to the River Niger and the severance of all connections between the West and the North at Jebba. And who the Bleep is ojukwu to tell us yorubas- a proud race who we can pally with or not? But Ojukwu in your assessment, is not power hungry o? (vii)During the period of Biafrans troops’ presence in your territory, all political measures, statements or decrees shall be subject to the approval, in writing by myself or on my authority. So, after reading the above condition, you still believe Ojukwu is not power hungry? So, even our obas cannot even fart in their palaces without first getting approval from Ojukwu? And You think yorubas - a proud race with rich culture and history will agree to such a stipulation from ojukwu? Some "liberation", it is!!! (viii)Should our troops arrive and liberate Lagos, the government of the Republic of Biafra reserves the right to appoint a Military administrator for the territory. Such an Administrator will remain in office until a merger of that territory with Yorubaland is effected by Biafran troops. And who is the flippin' govt of RoB? Ojukwu! But Ojukwu is not power hungry o! what a "liberation" (sic). Let me just stop here as analysing Ojukwu's prerequisite for our unsolicited so-called "liberation" is making me feel sick- need to go and throw up. Oh before i go and retch, what about the carnage that will have befall our region and the great loss of lives to our young generation? Am certain that Banjo knew (and definitely did not sign his agreement to such a dumb stipulation) that his people will never consent to Ojukwu's megalomania. At any rate, what is the guarantee that once Ojukwu's objective have been realised, someone from the biafran side wouldn't put a bullet into Banjo? None. And you have the temerity to tell me, ojukwu is not power hungry. My mother didn't raise me a fool and we are definitely not that dumb in yorubaland. And, don't call me "friend" as am no friend of yours or your type. That's not how i was raised in my neck of the wood to treat someone i consider, a friend. |
9jaDoc:I already suspected my post wili be too much for your cerebral capability. No wonder, you call it gibberish. |
WetinConsignMe:Yeah, of course, he was trapped! Just google his letter to Banjo and then come back and tell me Ojukwu had no intention of ruling yorubaland. Btw, after Ojukwu had invaded the mid-west, who was in control of the region? |
9jaDoc:Simple..........as another "afonja" and that was probably why Banjo didn't rush to lead biafran troops to wreck havoc on his homeland. |
Maduawuchukwu:But the Mid-west neutrality as you tagged it, didn't stop ojukwu invading the region and imposing his own rule on the people. The bottom-line was that Ojukwu intended bringing the whole of southern nigeria under his rule but Awo- a mere civilian showed him that brain power is mightier than sheer brawn and braggadio. If in doubt, google " Ojukwu's letter to Banjo" and you will clearly discern ojukwu's intention- he was already salivating at the prospect of dominating yorubaland, something his father's friend tried but was unable to accomplish 16 years, earlier. |
DrGoodman:Hogwash |
huptin:Be ni o!!!! Unlike Oju-iku who promised (his people that) all manner of calamities will befall his/their enemies but was not known to have even fired a pistol let alone any firearm, before abandoning his people to their fate and running off to exile with his favourite red merc and tons of suitcases. |
illicit:STFU jo! Your point was that, the last afonja was murdered but being the m.o.ron that you are, you had to qualify, albeit erronously, the way and manner that Akintola met his death at the hands of vermins like your good self(?). As a matter of fact, Akintola died gallantly unlike you know who...........that fled in the middle of the night like a thief after leading his people into a meaningless war. |
illicit:Point of correction on the bolded portion of your slimy post above........ Akintola was murdered by ibo scums pretending to be nationalists like their slippery father, a.k.a Zik of Nigeria/Africa. |
It was my father who told me to say yes immediately. He said many people would be dreaming of working with Awolowo. In fact, before I agreed, my father had said yes on my behalf. I have never regretted that decision. He made me to know everybody, including people like Chief Lateef Jakande and late Chief Bola Ige. I was among those who formed the Unity Party of Nigeria and we went to all the states. This is the most instructive passage that caught my eye from this old man's tales. So after working with Pa Awo in the UPN and therefore must have been privy to the relationship between Awo and Abiola especially the length Abiola went with his Concord newspaper ( whilst fraternising with the enemies of nigeria's progress and development) to scuttle Awo's dream for his people in particular and the whole nation in general yet the man can shamelessly admit to joining Abiola's camp after his mentor's death. I have no sympathy for Abiola and all those who followed him in denying the people of this country their right place in history on the alter of selfish greed and ambition. |
^^^^ My brother, i beg leave those sore losers (ibos) to their eternal painment, jo. As if we give a rat's a.r.se what they think ofAwo -their nemesis in yorubaland. |
Ofemannnu:Most of the ibos that left yorubaland took thrir money with and deposited it into the biafran bank. I wonder how much did ojukwu gave backnto them before running off to Abidjan with his favourite merc and 10 tons of suitcases? |
Ovamboland:[i] Oh that Sardunna's interview with the Bbc they call "hate speech" towards the ibo hence the Jan 15th coupists had to snubbed the man's life out. Same speech was made by Akintola around 1964 wherein he was sentising his yoruba people of the domineering and greedy nature of our so called brothers, east of the Niger river. Consequently, Akintola too had to suffer the same fate as the sardunna. Akintola's campaign speech is on youtube and the guy layed bared their greedy propensity. In fact, this was what made Akintola to run off north and form alliance with the NPC thereby losing the monopoly the ibos had in the public service ............[ /i] |
abdelrahman:Oju-iku, the "Biafran hero" who they themselves refused to vote for. |
9jaDoc:Why don't you dig out his similar speeches, if any, that he made to the yorubas . After zik's speech in 1949, many non-ibos left the NCNC in disgust. Two years later, the man was trying to be placed in charge of yoruba affairs. Meanwhile the pseudo-nationalist didn't even dare contest for premiership in the north. By 1949, NCNC has been turned into an ibo party though it was formed by a coalition of nigerians with mainly yoruba people at the vanguard. |
igbodefender:Yes o! Awo and his civilian colleagues in the AG were arrested for coup plotting by the coalition of the NPC and the NCNC govt. |
9jaDoc:Yeah, of course, he didn't! Tell that "fabu" to the marines!!! Zik did not see himself as an ibo man yet he presided over the Ibo state assembly in her 1st year anniversary in 1949. Below is part of his speech at Aba, Nigeria, on Saturday, June 25, 1949......................................... "Harbingers of a new day for the Ibo nation, having selected me to preside over the deliberations of this assembly of the Ibo nation, I am conscious of the fact that you have not done so because of any extraordinary attributes in me. I realize that I am not the oldest among you, nor the wisest, nor the wealthiest, nor the most experienced, nor the most learned. I am therefore grateful to you for elevating me to this high pedestal. The Ibo people have reached a cross-road and it is for us to decide which is the right course to follow. We are confronted with routes leading to diverse goals, but as I see it, there is only one road that I can safely recommend for us to tread, and it is the road to self-determination for the Ibo within the framework of a federated commonwealth of Nigeria and the Cameroons, leading to a United States of Africa. Other roads, in my opinion, are calculated to lead us astray from the path of national self-realization. The keynote in this address is self-determination for the Ibo. Let us establish an Ibo State, based on linguistic and ethnic factors, enabling us to take our place side by side with the other linguistic and ethnic groups which make up Nigeria and the Cameroons." Barely two years later, he was salivating at the prospect of becoming premier over the yorubas in the western region of nigeria. |
On the night of 9 August, another Biafran plane flew in from the East and dropped bombs on non-military area.‘Warning bombs,’ Ojukwu called them in a lengthy midnight address on Radio Biafra on 10 August 1967. The plane also dropped leaflets in Ikeja and Palmgrove areas “calling on people to overthrow Gowon’s government and the Hausa imperialists.” “The American ambassador noted that the leaflets were similar to the ones being distributed by Biafran soldiers to gain support in the Midwest. On 16 August 1967, another Biafran plane flew in and dropped two bombs on Apapa. The more the bombs exploded, the more Igbos resident in Lagos were put in trouble. |
9jaDoc:Show us the election result or JSTFU. Why the hell would zik want to be in charge of yoruba affairs in the western region, anyway? Is western region, iboland ni? why didn't he contest for premiership in the north where he was born? |
GhanaMustGoo:The sole reason why they worshipped him is that apart from being the political father, he was also their spiritual leader( infact, he represented all west african muslims and not just nigeria's) but above all, he had the interest of his people at heart. N.b: before you regurgitate the same line as your fellow deceitful folks, let me preempt you. Am a true "Shoin of the Shoil" who also happens to be a xtian. |
9jaDoc:Yes Awo did but the sl.imy Zik whilst chanting One Nigeria and pan Africanism presided over a wholly tribal union long before Awo's Egbe omo oduduwa came to fruition. I suggest you google Zik's first year anniversary speech of the Ibo state union in 1949, then come back and tell me if that speech was meant for the sole benefit of ALL nigerians or just his own tribal affiliation. |
Vivere:@ Bolded....now you can discern why i labelled these folks as "Clones". They were "conditioned" with abject lies, so much so that, even if you place a piece of horse manure before their eyes and plate, they will still be mouthing their conditioned lies that, it is rare steak. |
lawani:But Lagos was what Ojukwu really wanted. All that crap about biafra was just a ruse to get his gullible people on board. Ojukwu simply sacrificed his people for his inordinate ambition and when this didn't materialised, jumped ship and abandoned them to their fate. Even when his people were dying of hunger, ojukwu still persisted with the war. Ojukwu NEVER really cared for his people. |
WetinConsignMe:"The taste of the pudding is in the eating" Until you and your fellow liar mofos can present us with election result which shows conclusively that NCNC won the election in question, all na wash. |
WetinConsignMe:Where is the flippin' EVIDENCE that came into Ojukwu's hands? You guys are very good at relying on "word of mouth" evidences. Same way the Jan. 15th coupist were going to force Awo out of prison and make him the PM, whether he likes it or not. Same way, Awo and his close associates were jailed in 1962/63 for treason. Same way, zik claimed he won the regional govt election in western nigeria in 1951. Meanwhile, past experiences has lent credence to the FACT that INTEGRITY is an alien concept in your culture. |
WetinConsignMe:And who were the people following Ojukwu's BLF? No one. In fact, the mid-west people went into the bush to harass his occupational force whilst the yorubas quickly rallied round their boys to stop him at Ore. It might have been possible had Ojukwu went north to avenge the death of his people at the hands of the hausa/fulanis who incidentally, had been killing the ibos long before independence but stepped it up a notch after ibos soldiers had killed their GOD in a horrific manner and then went for the jugular after their own successful counter coup. But smart(sic!) Ojukwu decided to go looking for northerners to kill in yorubaland. |
MyNewJackeT:Never mind.........you know what, we dash you Fayose for your "Land of the rising sun" now that your Cownu has done a runner like his predecessor and left you all in a limbo. |
stev120:Geez.....................bunch of kids are all over this site. |
