Very very GOOD move by d Bankers Committee and d CBN. All Bank charges shld be reduced, esp those that pad Interest rates charged by most banks, effectively making it almost double the MRR rate of d CBN; it shldn't be more than 4-5% above dis rate, just as d rate itself shld start to decrease. Cops and customers in Nigeria shld be able to access funds from Banks at relatively accessible and reasonable rates..... Its also good to note that d Operating Costs of Banks are significantly decreasing, just as Profits are increasing. The Banking reforms embarkd upon by Sanusi is d only REAL tin (apart from d Amnesty Programmes) that I can tink of that Yar'adua did; it was timely and decisive, and it really seem to hv bn continud and improvd upon and is obviously working. Kudos Sanusi; plz 'reduce' Interest rates..

ballabriggs: Taharqa you are a fraud!

How did Nigerian forces liberate a town that was never held by rebels?

Amadioha will strike you and the criminals planting stories in the media to coverup their failures.

If at all Banamba was occupied, it would have been the first town to be rescued by the French considering its proximity to Bamako. But they started off at Diabaly which was at risk at the time. If they had waited for a criminal and incompetent Nigerian government, by now the Militants would have leveled the whole of Mali.

They are very shameless people! Instead of pondering over their failures and incompetence, they plant stories in the media with the intention to deceive people.

Tamuno where are you to punish these people one after the other. Ehn Tamuno, biko, why don't you just destroy these devils once and for all so we can have peace.
I said I wasn't going to respond to any of you CLOWNsss, but this was just too Hilarious, cudn't possibly let it fly.

How did you say planted the story in te media? Me?? Hahahahahahah.....mennh, I must be doing enough planting from my University campus, LOL.
You mean I planted this story in DailyTrust, and then The Nation, Thisday, Guardian, Rueters, VOA, AFP etc etc?? And then when the Chief of Defense Staff visited Nigerian troops in this town, which was shown in many Nigerian TV stations, I must also have planted that in those Electronic Media using 'Photoshop in Motion', abi? CHoi, I must be very POWERFUL and INFLUENTIAL then; I mean even Water, Fire, Air and Wind- the 4 Elements of Nature- listen to my commands, I control them all LOL.

CLOWNS grin grin grin grin grin grin.....

By the way, just as the article said, the Rebels ran abandoned the town when they knew the the Nigerian soldiers were coming just as they did in other major towns when the French and Malian forces were also coming; its their strategy. Any DUNCE who have followed the fight would have notice the pattern.

It is cos of Support from Intervention programmes like this (SURE-P supporting the employment of thousands of Health workers that are trained and deployed to primary Health centres across the nation for Child and Women issues) that made Nigeria beat countries like the UK and Canada as well as others in the Commonwealth last year in this very sector:

Midwives under the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) Office; Midwives’ Service Scheme, have been awarded this year’s Commonwealth award.
The prize; Commonwealth Association for Public Administration and Management (CAPAM) award on Innovations in Government Services and Programmes, was presented to Nigeria at CAPAM meeting in New Delhi, India.
The scheme funded by the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on MDGs, Dr. Precious Gbeneol, was jointly implemented by the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency (NPHCDA).
Under the scheme, unemployed and retired midwives were recruited for deployment to primary health centres in rural communities. Nigeria beat Australia and Canada to clinch the award.

In a statement in Abuja, the Deputy Director, Information of OSSAP-MDGs, Kene Offie, said the initiative was launched in 2009 to support the country to tackle poor maternal and child healthcare.
Is it not madness that a committee alien to Nigerians is now carrying out recruitment for health care institutions in the country? What then is the job of the Ministry of Health scattered all over the country?
Look at this CLOWN yet again. In your usual haste at attempting to discredit anything GEJ, you have forgotten to use your brain even if for just a tiny tiny bit!! SURE-P does not do most its programmes alone; it is an INTERVENTION programme that augments the activities of certain MDAs- this info is right there in the OP's article.

In this instance, the MDA in question is the NPHCDA, who are the ones running the Primary Health programme:

The Federal Government has recruited 6,000 healtth workers to boost the country’s health sector, Executive Director of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), Dr. Ado Muhammad has said.
Muhammad disclosed this at the opening of the two-day orientation exercise for midwives under the SURE-P MCH programme for the North-West zone yesterday in Kaduna.
He said nurses and midwives have been recruited and deployed to 500 primary health care centers.
The executive director of the agency added that 2,000 basic midwives under the Midwives Service Scheme (MSS), 1,000 community health workers and 3,000 village health workers would be involved in the exercise.
According to him, 500 selected health facilities would be upgraded, staffed with skilled personnel and equipped to curb further loss of lives during pregnancy and delivery.
“Our goal in the SURE-P MCH is to make pregnancy safer and let mothers and babies live under the MDGs 4 and 5,” he said.
He said the lives of about 1.2 million expectant women or nine million people would be saved under the scheme by 2015.
He added that pregnant women would collect at least N5,000 for a minimum of four ante-natal visits to facilities plus child care services as incentives. He also urged state governments and local government councils to implement the MSS MoU for the benefit of their people.

Nigeria should be the ONLY country I believe that SINGLEHANDEDLY deployed its Soldiers and their materials to Mali by her C-130s. Even France had to ask the UK, Belgium, Germany, Us etc for help.

The ijiots who wrote this piece didnt see that of course; and assuming there are some challenges in the Logistics of the ongoing process of Deployment (which cannot be as severe as the PAID article above seemed to portray), shouldn't the fact that we could even deploy our troops ourselves be something that should bring some pride to us in the 1st place and should be reported, as the Military are urged to tackle the challenges (that must arise as with even the French).

More article by REAL newspapers affirming that Nigeria troops are already invovled in the fight in the North of Mali, unlike the @OP's article claim that Nigerian troops were still in Bamko and have not started combat cos of 'insufficient Equipment and none-payment of stipends':

Malian and Nigerian forces were being deployed to secure the area around the city, about 590 miles (950 kilometers) northeast of the capital, Bamako, following the overnight action by French special forces, according to the ministry.

French troops were playing a supporting role after taking the airport and a bridge over the River Niger to the south of the city, French military spokesman Thierry Burkhard said by phone.

“Malian and French forces liberate Gao,” the ministry said in its e-mailed statement today.

“Several terroristgroups battled with the French forces intervening in support of the Malian army.”

Rebel transport equipment and several logistic sites were destroyed, according to the ministry.

France intervened in Mali on Jan. 11 after Islamist fighters overran the town of Konna, sparking concern they might advance to Bamako. The French defense ministry said 3,700 French soldiers are involved in the operation, including 2,500 on Mali soil.

The mayor of Gao, Sadou Diallo, returned to the city after having taken refugee in Bamako, the French Defense Ministry said.

Troops from Nigeria and Chad are arriving to take over from the French
forces in Gao, it said.

African nations are deploying a force that may total as many as 3,300 soldiers to aid the fight against the rebels, who include Islamist militants and ethnic Touareg separatists, in the country that gained independence from France in 1960.

West African nations have decided to increase their Mali mission to 5,700 troops, General Shehu Abdulkadir, commander of the African-led international support mission to Mali, or Afisma, said today in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. Separately, Chad also is sending 2,250 soldiers, Abdulkadir said.

A new contingent of African forces from Togo arrived yesterday in the central town of San, Radio Mali reported, citing Thierno Boubacar Cisse, the governor of Segou, with 209 soldiers joining Togolese troops already deployed there.

Nigerian troops started deploying on Jan. 17. President President Goodluck Jonathan has offered 1,200 soldiers to join the African force.

African leaders start a two-day meeting Sunday, Jan. 27, in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, to discuss how to make sure their force has enough resources to sustain a campaign against insurgents
who control the north of Mali.

The force may cost $300 million a year, the African Union Commission’s Peace and Security Director, El-Ghassim Wane, told reporters Jan. 24.

Togo, Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Guinea, Senegal, Benin and Ghana have pledged to contribute troops to the African-led force.

The insurgents took control of northern Mali, including the historic town of Timbuktu, after a coup in March last year by government soldiers complaining that they hadn’t received weapons and vehicles to fight the rebels.

According to this article from Elrufai's aligned Online PT, Ngeria troops are still in Bamako and have not started Combat yet:

Contrary to information from the Ministry of Defence that Nigerian troops are involved in combat and have advanced northward toward the city of Gao, military insiders said the Nigerian contingent is still stationed at the Force Headquarters in Bamako.

We learnt that shortage in armaments has prevented the deployment of soldiers to combat positions. And many soldiers are yet to be paid their monthly sustenance allowance.
According to every other media, local and International, Nigerian troops already started 'liberating' and holding towns towards the North of Mali:

Scores of people marched through the streets of Banamba town in northern Mali to welcome the Nigerian troops who liberated the town from militants.
The militants were in control of the town before the deployment of Nigerian soldiers there earlier this week. Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff, Admiral Ola Sa’ad Ibrahim Thursday, visited the town to assess the performance of the troops.
A military source in Mali said many people have fled the town before the soldiers advanced toward them. The rebels who got the information of the deployment of the troops were the first to abandon their position, the source said. “The troops did not meet any resistance and reclaimed the city without any casualty.”
Meanwhile few people living in the town have welcomed the soldiers and sought protection from them against the rebels.
Banamba is one of the seven cities of the Koulikoro Region of Mali. It has an estimated population of close to 10,000 people. It is the first town liberated by Nigerians.

You seemed to be new to NL cos you wud have known that the @Poster you responded to does not usually say things out of the blues or 'spread false gists' openly and knowingly:

The Corporate Affair Commission (CAC) said it has concluded arrangements to scan the back log of records of all Companies, Business Names and Incorporated Trustees in order to permanently solve the problems of file mutilation, pilferage and loss of valuable documents.

According to the Registrar-General of the Commission, Bello Mahmud, computerization of documents in the Commission started in 2004, which implies that companies’ records dating back to 1912 are being manually kept with the resulting problems mutilation, pilferage and loss of valuable documents.

He said the scanning of the back log of records, which is expected to commence by early 2013 with a 12 months completion period, would make it possible for customers to access company information electronically via the web.

He noted that the Commission considers the project very critical to its operations and vision to become a world class companies’ registry, adding that the Commission would be getting project management support from Elumelu Foundation.

He said the Commission has also provided office spaces to selected commercial banks and the Stamp Duty Office of the Federal Inland Revenue Service in its offices across the country and recently to Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria (FRCN), which he said was to provide enabling environment for businesses to engage with relevant regulators seamlessly and conduct all registration services within the same roof.

This, he was optimistic, would enables prospective investors to make all necessary payments and process their documents at one point without having to go outside the Commission and would also increase efficiency and service delivery period for various transactions with the Commission.

The Registrar-General said the Companies Regulation 2012 has also been approved by the Minister of Trade and Investment in pursuant to Sections 16, 585 and 609 of the Companies and Allied Matters Act, which he said would assist the Commission to meet the expectation of its customers and standardize its processes and procedures in line with global best practice. The new regulation, he said, include the removal of restriction that only Lawyers, Chartered Accountants, and Chartered Secretaries could register Companies with CAC, explaining that under the new Regulation, the first Directors/Subscribers can now register their Companies directly, saying that the new system is expected to reduce the cost of registering a company by at least 50%.

He said a new requirement has also been introduced making it mandatory for the Directors/Subscribers to Memorandum and Articles of Association to submit recognized form of identification such as information page of International Passport, Drivers License or National Identity Card for all new registration and post registration services. This, he said will reduce incidence of fake identity in company formation and support the anti-money laundering initiative of various Government Agencies and Federal Government’s transformation agenda.

He also noted that the Commission has successfully achieved a 24 hour service delivery period for all new registration services for Companies, Business Names and Incorporated Trustees since, explaining that with the new system, customers in Abuja and Lagos have now been getting their certificates of registration within 24 hours of filing. This, he said, is comparable to what obtains in the Companies Registry of advanced countries such as United Kingdom, Singapore and New Zealand.

He noted that the Commission registered a total of 74,651 companies, 87,640 Business Names and 8,291 Incorporated Trustees between January and October this year, amounting to increases of 10.7%, 18% and 6.7% respectively over the corresponding period in 2011. This, he said, brings the total number of Companies, Business Names and Incorporated Trustees to 979,016, 2,041,341 and 54,397 respectively.

“As part of efforts to improve the investment climate and to make services more accessible to customers and the general public, the Commission has embarked on total upgrade of its registration software to provide for a robust electronic payment system, amongst others. This will enable customers pay and get the services of the CAC electronically via the web.

We shall continue to improve our processes and procedures towards making Nigeria a global trade and investment hub,” he said.
Rubbish. Why cut fees for foreign investors, while only last week or so, the same government increased the cost of registering a limited liability company at the CAC . You reduce for foreigners who don't need the reduction only to increase for long suffering locals?

At the end of the day, it is small businesses established by ordinary Mr Chinedu and Mummy Junior that will create the jobs that we need, not mostly fake foreign 'investors' who come with empty pockets but are able to obtain big loans from local banks 'cos they are Oyinbo.

Surely, a genuine foreign investor with millions of dollars (supposedly) in his 'back pocket' will care less about a reduction in fees equivalent to just USD 250.

As things stand today, it will cost me less than £20 (N5000) to register a company in the UK, but registering an equivalent company in Nigeria will cost at least 6 times that amount due to GEJ government's latest increase.

To encourage entrepreneurship, Government must get out of people's way and cut down on needless barriers and costs. The cost of registering a company should be cut down to N10K or less.

Confused Government.
Abeg where did you get d info dat CAC fees hv bn increasd?? Thnks for the anticipatd quick response cos am waiting.

What possibly the Group (Organisd Electricity Workers) that hv opposd d ongoing Power Reforms more than any other said sm few weeks ago about these new power plants:
ORGANISED labour in the nation’s Power sector has accused the Federal Government of refusing to commission the completed National Integrated Power Projects (NIPPs), thus denying Nigerians from benefitting from the projects.

Under the umbrella of the National Union of Electricity Employees, NUEE, labour claimed the government has refused to commission many completed NIPP projects, with the hope of transferring them to the private individuals after privatization.

General Secretary of NUEE, Comrade Joe Ajaero in an interview with Vanguard also alleged that the government had similar, plan for several NIPP and Power Holding Company of Nigeria, PHCN equipment abandoned in the ports for years without bringing them to upgrade and boost the power situation in the country.

He said “We do not have any reason not have better power supply as at today. Why did I say that? Already, over 11 billion Dollars have been spent under the National Integrated Power Project, NIPP, and NIPP as at today ought to have put into the field almost 4000 or 5000 megawatts.

“Some of the plants are ready, but they have not commissioned them. So, the plot they are adopting is that in 2013, when the private sector takes over, they will commission all those projects and will be telling you that it is because of the private sector. But the 11 billion Dollars was taken from the Federation account to build those plants.

“The question is, why have they not commissioned those plants? So, when Nigerians see additional 4000 or so, they will say it is the magic of the new investors. But the truth is that the new investors if they take over in 2013, cannot build plants for the next three or four years. So, there is already a ploy to keep a large volume of reserve of power preparatory to bringing them on stream when the private sector takes over. The same thing applies to abandoned equipment at the ports.”

“There are lot of equipment belonging to PHCN and NIPP at the ports that are not cleared as we speak. The plan is for them to bring the equipment in after privatization for the new investors.
http://www.vanguardngr.com/2013/01/labour-accuses-fg-of-refusing-to-commission-nipp-projects/ Of course the main reason why some of these Power plants hv not startd contributing to d Grid is cos of Gas supply problems and Transmission Grid Facilities even afta evacuation of d producd power

Just so that some persons would not be misinformed by some persons who have elected it upon themselves to attempt to discredicting GEJ at every turn, even when it doesn't make sense; some of these people have already 'spoken' on pg 1:

There are 10 or 11 Middle Power plants been built across the nation under the NIPP projects (apart from hundreds of Transmission and Distribution projects)- about 5 of which (OmotoshoII, OlorosonguII, Sapele, non-steam component of Alaoji and just recently, GereguII) are COMPLETE, with some of their Units already contributing to Power supply inthe Grid; the others (Calabar, Ihovbor, Gbarain, Egbema, Omoku) are ALMOST COMPLETE and are expected to start contributing to National Grid sometimes this year (2013). All of these plants are expected to add more than 4000MW additional power to the grid.
NOTE: When I use the word 'Complete', I mean that not only is the actual construction of the plant itself finished but that Gas pipelines and Transmission Evacuation Facilities associated with the plant, are also complete. And most of these works have occurred in the last 3 years or so.

Some Affirmation of these come from people like Dr Fayemi (the ACN Governor of Ekiti)who said the following about 2 weeks ago:

Ten power projects will be completed this year to boost power supply, the government said yesterday.
A board member of Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC) Dr. Kayode Fayemi assured that the ten projects under the National Integrated Power Project, (NIPP) would come on stream by year end.
The Ekiti State governor spoke in Abuja at the end of the 25th board meeting of NDPHC – the operator of the NIPP projects.
He said: “Perhaps the most heart warming news that we are to give is the fact that this is going to be the year of harvest. You have heard many things before now about the NIPP projects across the country, we want to assure Nigerians that based on the work that has been done so far, we are almost certain that all of the 10 projects across the country will be delivered this year.
“And those are the power plants I’m talking about that are being constructed across the country – Omotosho, Geregu, Alaoje, Olorunsogo, Sapele etc. All of them will be ready this year.
“And we also approved the budget of the company for the year to ensure that the operations of the company are not impaired in anyway.

Sannei: Its amazing how some retard all the way at the south is busy dementing Nassarawa government while you dont know anything going on there. E.g the fact that you dont know a man called Ali Akwe Doma was the governor before Almakura and that he embezzled the state dry. And now Almakura is trying with the small allocation and the ever hating state assembly and that illiterate nassarawa pdp bot guy on his neck but here you are trying to use the opportunity to spew trash.

WELL LET ME TELL YOU WHATS GOING ON HERE !
- The governor is surrounded by corrupt people even from his own party starting with the Deputy, SSG etc.
-The state assembly refuse anything he proposes starting with loaning more money for projects.
- No support from FG at all.
- Did i mention corrupt top officials e.g a contract for setting transformers in the L.G of the D.G was given to a company favored by the D.G himself, guess what happened? Transformers were only set at the Deputy Governors houre area the rest of the L.G na shadow they fit embrace.(how i knw a friends father works with the government)
- The constant attack and threats from PDP e.g the state assembly threaten to impeach him because of ethnic violence ? Yet no state with BH impeach their governor or even the president eh?
YOU Should be ashamed of yourself and the Pdp that you worship. And bottom line if you aint in Nassarawa then dont try to spew trash about its Government!
Sorry, is it just me or smthing: cudn't find a single tin that you mentiond d CPC governor hv done in 2 yrs amindst dis lengthy epistle of yrs; just a series of EXCUSES for apparent Failure, No?
