This is VERY SWEET music to my ears. About time. Continue to reduce Cost of Governance and restructure the machinery of Govt to only what is Necessary.... GEJ is TRANSFORMING this nation in very Fundamental ways, bits by bits. God's speed, Mr President...

PoliticsRe: World Bank Indicts Jonathan’s Government. by taharqa2:
People shld go and read the ACTUAL Report and stop taking their interpretations of d report from a news source known for its virulent PROPAGANDA against d Govt: the Report was actuali generali FAVOURABLE and (even more importantly) OPTIMISTIC about Nigeria and d current Govt's Economic policies, although sm weaknesses were pointed out for subsequent corrections. For instance, d Report actuali said that Poverty Rate DECREASED in d last 2 years (from 48% to 46%) but d rate of decrease was not keeping pace with d much faster increase in GDP (2% Vs 7%), and was lower than d Population growth rate (2% Vs 2.7%) thereby producing a situation whereby though d Rate of Poverty is decreasing, d No of persons actuali in Poverty has slightly increased cos of d higher Population Growth Rate (hence, d advice from d Report to Govt was to 'increase' d Rate of Decrease of d Poverty to keep pace with the much faster Rate of Economic Growth, ie improve Distribution of d considerable Wealth been made in d Economy to as many people as possible esp those in d Rural areas, as well as also ensuring that this Rate of Decrease in Poverty outpaces Population Growth Rate)...... People shld actuali read the Report from d Source. NOWHERE was d Govt 'indicted'; as a mata of fact, its programs were rather optimistically/favourably appraised, with d provisor of d need for even more pace in d direction it is going..

pro01: Much as I agree with Abati's views on the deluded ingrate called Ribadu, I think these sorts of responses should be outside his remit. It should be the job of Doyin Okupe to put pesky rodents like Ribadu in their place. The presidency (and it's official mouthpiece) should maintain a dignified, almost condescending aloofness to provocations by irrelevant attention-seekers, and leave Okupe to exchange fire with such characters from a safe distance.

bloggernaija: World class road for world class poverty .look at the poverty/misery of the people on thay road in spite of the stupendous monthly allocation .those road /flashy hotels will not be in the same condition in a few years but the poverty will remain constant .
If you want to know about transformational and inter generational development.look no further than aregbesola and what he his doing to transform the future of the kids of osun state.some of those kids will become great someday.
That is how you build a nation .if it is so good as you say, you can move there.i have been to akwa ibom before and even know when the then commissioner for local government affair akpabio was scheming for the governorship.but nowhere in this country is so harder to make money and nowhere is it more difficult to survive without money than uyo.
If you have many ,you will enjoy yourself like no other place even before akpabio.uyo girls are quite generous
The elites are swimming in so much money and their children are arrogant . the everyday people are poor but very nice and friendly .
Personally, I think the poor in that state need a governor who will concentrate on human capital development since the money is available .education ,health ,agriculture &housing . A typical state in the southeast and southwest have the critical mass of educated middleclass professionals at home and abroad.akwa ibom needs a champion to build that for them
Will you SHUT it already, Clown??... Aregbesola? Are u actuali comparing Aregbesola with Akpabio? No kidding?? Aregbe wud NEVER get remotely close to what Akpabio has done in his state infrastructure-wise and in oda areas, even if he was allowd 4 consecutive terms of 20 yrs! So lose that line of thinking; it is not even funny...

ayox2003: While some of us can't wait for 2015 to come nigh quickly, we should not forget that we've got more than 700 days to the election. There are more pressing issues at the moment than these 'distracting' posters flooding the country, namely:

1) The promise Mr President made about building and the rehabilitation of refineries before the end of October 2013 with the amount saved from the partial removal of subsidy.

2) The provision of electricity before his tenure ends.

3) Lagos-Ibadan expressway.

4) The Second Niger bridge

5) Security challenges and so on.

When 2015 comes, we will vote based on competence and a proven track-record. This is 2013, let's live in this moment and get the dividend of 2013. The night is but young!

Gbawe: Thank you. The next question to ask these charlatans, openly supportive of what is wrong and unfair, is this. Is it wise to support illegality and undemocratic conduct today because it gets us and our sectional affiliates what we want yet pretend to be the 'victim' tomorrow when said undemocratic actions has secured serious repercussions for all Nigerians?

When the openly disenfranchised candidates then decide that geurilla tactics is their only option to fight a rogue Presidency, it will be the same charlatans you respond to who would want us to forget this stage where they openly supported incendiary antics and hypocritically prompt everyone to focus on the "evil men" trying to "destabilize" the Presidency of "Saint Jonathan" who is always "innocent". I am Nigerian but I am disgusted with the viewpoint of fellow Nigerians on this forum as it distinctly reveals that many amongst us are not committed to supporting what is equitable and just all the time.

Also, the silly noise of this being a "PDP affair" is the most inane thing I have ever heard. First of all the PDP is the ruling Party. Actions within the Party may have serious consequences for the Nation and I am surprised Nigerians have to be shown this since I see that others fundamentally appreciate this worldwide.

The conservative Party in the UK, for example, cannot act like an azz and then arrogantly tell Britons to butt out because it is "a conservative affair". No sir. They will be vehemently reminded of their duty to set good examples, as the ruling Party, or relinquish power if doing so is too much for them

Secondly, nothing ever remains a PDP affair. Many said zoning was a PDP affair, at a time some PDP members swore GEJ was a treacherous chap going against something he signed up for, yet we all know political Boko Haram, that has cost many Nigerian lives, went on on to show that only fools will believe anything remains a "PDP affair" especially when it is related to members of the "nest of killers" being fundamentally aggrieved.

GEJ and Anenih, however desperately they become, cannot change the rules in the middle of the game when me and you know, beyond the "PDP affair" rhetoric, that this can have devastating repercussion for Nigeria.

Besides, did GEJ not fully utilise the availability of the Primaries method to get rid of Sylva? Many Nairalanders know I have continuously stated that GEJ will get the same treatment he dished out to Sylva. That is what team GEJ is now petrified about but cannot avoid because democracy is a game of numbers and some should have remembered that when they were busy insulting and demonizing Northerners as if they are not a legitimate part of Nigeria deserving respect and inclusion rather than be treated myopically with open disdain and enmity as jingoistic backers of GEJ have done self-destructively.
@Gbawe, SHUT up yr mouth you sillly HYPOCRITE. You DISGUST me with yr unbrindled HYPOCRISM *spitsindisgust*... PoliticsRe: APC Supported Amaechi To Disgrace Jonathan by taharqa2:
Frank-C:
And that really shows how smart and politically mature you are. Amaechi 'won' the election and NGF died as a result. Who is the winner here? Thesame GEJ you claim you are trying to stop from being an emperror. Today, the collective bargaining power of NGF is broken and GEJ can now be the emperror if that is what he really wants, and who handed him the spoils? The 'politically sophisticated progressives'!!

Yes, you are right, Mr Fasakin. This is a dress rehearsal of 2015, where you will win a few worthless battles and lose the main war. What I am saying in essence is that you 'progressives' will help GEJ win the 2015 elections effortlessly.

With all the noise comming from the HoR, where exactly have they clawed GEJ? The man has always had in way in all his set targets after much noise, or is are the 'progressives' celebrating the noise despite the outcome? Come last quarter of 2014, PDP will close ranks once again and you will discover how well you have been played. My calculation is that the PDP knows you guys well enough and give you what you will ordinarily kill for - a opportunity to make noise. I am even tempted to believe that the PDP has compromised your ranks and focussed you on chasing shadows.

And if these progressives are this powerful, why not just nominate a Fayemi or an Ajimobi or an Al-Makura as NGF leader. In both cases of NGF leadership and Speakership positions mentioned, you still ensure the leadership of PDP at the helm. Does it mean that you 'progressives' now prefer PDP to members of the 'progressives' or is it part of the outsourcing business you are known for? You see how the same PDP is still the ultimate winner?
I just cant seem to undastad why sm people dont get this still: ie d Real Strategic aim of this NGF fight from d perspective of d Presidency was to WEAKEN d NGF, not remove Ameachi (that was secondary).... The Govs operating unda a powerful and united NGF (a voluntary, extraconstitutional body by d way) became the most powerful force in d country- controlling delegates, 'appointing' ministers and membas of Boards, controlling party machinery in their states and at the centre, influencing national policies, chose d President and Vice from amongst themselves since 2007, hijack the constitutional amendment process (the Govs together for instance unbelievably forced the State Houses of Assembly to vote against their own financial independence in d last Amendment process, and are d currently d main block behind d move to give LGA autonomy in d current Amendment process), etc. A weaken NGF increases the Power and maneuvability of d Presidency immeasurably, and vice versa (regardless of whether the forum's leadaship is pro-FG or not). The Strategic aim has been achieved. Some of d Northern PDP Govs who JUST cos of their own Presidential ambitions went against d Presidency in this case, wud either been soon wiped in line by an increasingly powerful Presidency, who hv taken complete control of party machinery Or simply shown d way out of d party.... APC shld think twice b4 claiming victory in dis instance; the people who really know how the game is playd has already done so. They wrote the script.

That GEJ has fulfilld his promise of giving about 35% positions to women and hv giving women issues much more prominence (mainstreaming Women issues in Govt policies for d 1st time, ordering the intake of 1st Combatant females in d Army and Airports, significantly reducing Maternal and Child mortality, YOUWin solely dedicatd to women, etc) as well as placing women in very powerful positions in Govt (as Ministers of Finance, Defence, Petroleum, Aviation, SEC DG, CJN, etc) than any President in Naija's history, is restating d obvious. Very many roads hv just bn OPENLY listd by d Govt as been (Re)constructd, Rehabilitatd and/or Ongoing across the nation, people (esp GEJ's haters and political jobbers who tell us he has not bn doing anytin) can appraise the list and easily show d Govt as 'Liars'.
