Demdem: Really, retardeen is indicting himself. Whose responsibility is to make sure such doesn't happen? US, Russia huh
He just told the whole world he isn't competent. Shame.
I guess, going by this 'logic' : various USA Govts that have employed very strong armed methods against a ton of Latin American Govts over the years (from infilterating their Intelligence and Financial infrastruction, to applying specific sanctions and threats, to manipulating political events, including in a few in stance, orchestrating d removal of Govts in some of these Latin American countries, etc) ALL cos d US accuses these countries of complicity and/or incapacity to stopping the flow of DRUGS to the buyers in d States, are INCOMPETENT? Right? I mean it surely is d 'responsibility' of d US Govt to 'make sure such (ie, d massive demand and buying of drugs by Americans) doesn't happen', right?....... *smh*

Apart from arguing over the EXTREMELY crucial and very engaging move at rehabilitating d previously dead old rail lines, did you read the well research article to realise that this Govt is not only also constructing at least 4 New Standard Guages, but is also undataking Feasibility Studies on 7 completely New proposed Lines that would criss-cross d country?? Do you honestly believe that ANY other 'Govt' wud have done more in d Rail sector than what d present Govt is doing/has done in about 3 years, unda the circumstances? Am not even talking here about previous Nigerian Govts as just d complete Rehabilitation of d Lagos-Kano Lines (and its many spur lines) done by dis Govt already dwarves whatever any other post-colonial Nigerian Govt ever did in d Rail sector...... You guys should give sm things a rest. Afterall, it is your country that is developing, bits by bits. Ain't it..

PoliticsRe: FG Running Short Of Cash, Okonjo-iweala Insists by taharqa2: 7:11pm On Jul 17, 2013
Find Out!:
I was born when Babangida was president, & from then till now, all thru Sani Abacha, Abdulsalami & Obasanjo, despite their obvious looting, i have never heard as much ''the government is broke'' talk/rumor/fact as I have heard since Goodluck Jonathan came into power just over 3 years ago. In 2012, as a youth corper, our April salaries were not paid nationwide, (i received mine in May & some never received theirs), and rumors were abound that the FG was too broke to pay corpers that month. Of course, everybody pro-GEJ from the FG to their foot soldiers on Nairaland to the clueless supporters denied it.

Now, Okonjo has confirmed it.

My question is WHERE HAS THE MONEY GONE TO?

We pump oil EVERYDAY thanks to the apparent ''peace'' (bought with billions of naira) in the niger delta, this same Okonjo Iweala told us recently that oil money now accounts for less than the usual percentage of our earnings meaning that apparently, more money from non-crude oil sources is now flowing in.

Last year, Sanusi cried out that the goverment was borrowing too much money, GEJ just finished borrowing more last week.

Where is our money? What about our other resources?

- Why are we broke?
- Is somebody looking the other way while several people are stealing the country blind? *subsidy fraud appears to be small time con compared to what seems to be going on in Abuja now*
- Is somebody amassing as much wealth as he can for 2015 to buy elections, create chaos and attempt country division?
- Is somebody's destiny really to bankrupt Nigeria?
- Is somebody doing anything to drastically shed excess luggage and steer the country back on the righ path?

Has Nigeria improvedhuhhuhhuh??

Is it not clear now that anybody, anybody who is campaigning for GEJ in 2015 either doesnt know what is going on (many nairalanders and off nairalanders), is being paid for it / deriving some huge benefit from the govt ...which may not be unconnected to our broke state... (the ''ex-millitants'', the greedy AGIPS, some nairalanders), or is just a sentimental tribal bigot (those things put us in this mess and will continue to immerse us deeper in it).

Nigerians, wise up abeg.

Sentiments aside, frankly speaking, fair assessment, Goodluck Jonathan is seriously a top contender for PRESIDING OVER the WORST GOVERNMENT in Nigeria's history.

May this nonsense stop before or by 2015!
All these your long grammar you are yanning here does not hide d fact that you are churning out complete NONSENSE. I mean NO SENSE at all.... NOI never said ANYTHING about d 'Economy been broke' Or even that d Govt doesn't have cash to run (only a COMPLETE DUNCE, like yourself obviously, wud think that with d money that Govt gets from d Oil and nonOil sources as well as nonGovernmental economic activities of private, d Govt talkless of d Economy could be 'broke', esp with d Country's GDP/Debt ratio bn less than 20%. It wud realli take a REAL DUNCE to bliv so!!). She is only talking about difficulties in d continued funding of sm aspects of d BUDGET cos of sm of the items d Legislators moved around early this year while they were passing d budget, which d President, NOI and sm others warned about. There is not a SINGLE Economic Parameter that suggests a 'Bloke' Economy. Not even one. taharqa2: This is for those peeps who are Educated and who do not have an eye problem and can properly see d article they are commenting on: NOI is talking about d FG's BUDGETARY funding having Cash-flow problems cos of d way d National Assembly moved around some budgetary items, esp the about #74b which was removed from some key capital heads and payment of salaries of certain categories of civil servants, to their Consistuency projects and other issues. This has been the disagreement bw d Executive and d NA over d budget since January of this year. This was d main reason the President initiali refused to sign d budget for more than a month early this year, until he did and sent sm Amendments to the budget which d NA is still dealing with (d main reason why NOI was called b4 their budget committee now). NOI and Sanusi warned of d possible difficulties in funding d budget later on if these 'anomilies' were not rectified. The cock has now come home to roost, I guess. All these are not helped by d fact that Oil production (which was overtly optimistic at 2.5m barrels per day) has gone there since early this year cos of problems associated with Oil theft, etc. This DOES NOT MEAN THAT THE ECONOMY ITSELF IS CASH-STRAPPED (at least not yet) OR EVEN NEAR 'BROKE'. Only Ignoramuses would say so...
PoliticsRe: Evacuation Of Cargoes By Rail From Seaports Begins Soon by taharqa2: 5:46pm On Jul 17, 2013
Sincere 9gerian: You'r correct. That law has not been passed. It is yet to get to the federal executive council. It has just been approved by BPP/BPE. From there it will move to FEC and then to the NASS. We run a very bulky bureaucracy in this country. We can only hope that it can be passed next year. Meanwhile, little concessions here and there (like the one in the report) can still take place, notwithstanding the law. Even the obsolete railway act even forbids state gov from building railways. But state gov with resources have embarked on building railways with tacit approval of the FG, notwithstanding the laws. Massive concessions like the entire Lagos-kano railway will wait till the law is passed.
k. Thanks...

PoliticsRe: Evacuation Of Cargoes By Rail From Seaports Begins Soon by taharqa2: 2:23pm On Jul 17, 2013
naptu2: Gosh! I've got a lot to say about this, but I'm very busy at the moment. I'll summarise.

1) The rail line to Apapa (or at least one of them) was rehabilitated and has been conveying passengers from Iddo/Ebute-Metta since late last year/early this year. Apparently they've now rehabilitated the section that goes to the port.

2) There are a lot of factories in the Ijora and Apapa area that can use these trains to move their goods inland.

3) This line goes as far as Ajaokuta, Osun, Kano, etc. This means farmers, manufacturers and mining companies upland can move their goods straight to the port (no bribing police on the roads, armed robbers, bad roads, etc).

4) Less trailers on the road = less wear and tear on the road, accidents caused by trailers, traffic jams caused by broken down trucks, etc.

5) It'll probably be cheaper.

I'll be back with more.
Thanks again, for your Elucidating post, as usual.......@topic, I like to highlight smthing that most of you guys have probably overlooked: which is that it is a PRIVATE Cop that would run the Freight Evacuation service. This is a most strategic move by d NRC, NPA and d Terminal Concessionaires, as it would enhance d substainability of d project. This must be the way we ought to run Rail services in this country going further. I however, do not really understand how this is going to work in this instance as d new Railway Bill (which should abrogate d Railways Act 1955) has not yet been passed to the best of my understanding

take dat: Why can't Yinka do us the favor by filing a petition against him(Tinubu) to the EFCC just as he did with Akala, or those are just unfounded allegations?

Tinubu is a thief, while Odumakin is an hypocrite and a Master blackmailer. Did he not tongue-lash the Yoruba elders, and called them all sorts of names when he left Afenifere to start the Afenifere Renewal Group? But now he defends them after his political misadventure with Buhari. How come his new political and business associate is Iyiola Omisore, a man accused of involvement in the unfortunate murder of Bola Ige, another Afenifere Chieftain? What of the accusations and counter-accusations between him and Nduka Obaigbena? Did OBJ not placate the Late Chief Abraham Adesanya by appointing his daughter as a federal minister after he, (Adesanya) and other Afenifere Chieftains helped kill the AD in the South-West? I am very sure we will hear less of Yinka once Tinubu settles him. All the cry is just to win concession.

There is no difference between our rogue politicians and members of some self-serving sectional groups.

take dat: During OBJ and Yaradua presidency, a section of the Yoruba elites occupied top positions but what significant difference did it make to the ordinary Yorubas? Their cry of marginalization is self-serving, pushed and politicized by the political elites who have failed to gain ascendancy at home in order to win concessions at the center.
Then, ACN should keep its mouth SHUT and stop crying about a phantom 'Yoruba Marginalisation' in d polity which they caused themselves cos of Selfish political reasons. Doing a thing, and turning around to accuse/insult another person of doing a similar thing in d future, is d height of HYPOCRISY, and what ACN have become known for. This one is just d latest in d series........ By d way, I hope d last parts of yr comment was not a Lame attempt at taking a jab at Gen Adebayo? Cos if it is, then it is a Fail.
