Anopheles:Can you please post a picture of the 11mm FE lens. Just want to see what it looks like....I can't seem to find the lens online. I am thinking it's a F mount and a 1.8 F stop. |
Leyemoshood:Thank you |
My sister just got medical request. Any tips on getting a quick medical appointment in Lagos? |
jesmond3945:The goal is not to dust anybody but to be able to create a good life for yourself where you can be fully responsible for your well-being. A minimum wage in Canada can do that. A 150K salary job in Lagos can’t give you that. I am an Engineer by trade, and I came to Canada as a student. While I was schooling I made > $90K; I made this working legitimate jobs and breaking zero rules while I was “in school”. I will take me at least 5 years working for some of the best companies in Nigeria to be able to make that much money. You have to find a way to live your life and project less on people that made the bold decision to seek greener pastures. |
Ikwerelastborn:I’m not poor like that. For someone making N80,000 in Nigeria. Making $2K per month in less than 6 months is a BIG upgrade. |
jesmond3945:You are not seeing this from a logical perspective. A Minimum wage job is a minimum wage job. Like the least money you will earn if you have a job is $2K. Ask yourself what is the minimum you can earn in Nigeria. |
jesmond3945:Stop being silly. $15/hr is $2100 a month. I rented a 2 bedroom apartment is NW Calgary for $1,000/month. Wooden floors, brand new kitchen, great view of downtown Calgary. Phone bill, Bus Pass, Groceries all around $500/month. |
Most of the people commenting here are delusional. You have no first hand experience but will quickly jump at answers and conclusion. The best set of people to migrate are single folks less than 30. The important part is that you need to be smart. Have the right skills and experience and be very much driven. In 2-3 years if you get into the right countries with proper work authorization, the sky is the limit. I know of the UK and Canada and I have more than 10 family and friends that have been able to multiply their income by more than 10 times since they left Nigeria. All in less than 5 years. Minimum wage in Calgary is $15/hr for god sake. |
lekani4real:Are you in Lagos? |
Crazy or not, be the judge. 1. She would pay between N1m - N1.5m per year in Tithe, Offering and Seed to her church, but will always complain when her blood brother (who is a law graduate and waiting for NYSC) owe her N5,000. Gives her parent N100K cash gift once a year. 2. She went home once and came back (to tell me) that her pastor at home said she was going to be richer than me (in the future), and her parent were having second thoughts. 3. She made more than 4times my salary, but I was spending more on her. Not so crazy to a lot of people, but completely wild to me. So I left the relationship. |
Phatkayconcept:Exactly! My sister's application status enquiry email (using the webform) was quoted in holluville 's GCMS note. holluville reached out to inform her, also send screenshot (Thank you so much brother). My sister just had her application refused for Purpose of Visit, and Personal asset and financial status, and this wouldn't make any sense because she is 17 years old. Abeg, make una put mouth. I don't know what to think. Have any 18 year old (or less), undergraduate (BSc) applicant been refused visa for Personal asset and financial status? |
holluville:So sorry to hear that you were delayed. Although I am curious about the GCMS note as it has my sister's information in it. Can you please reach out to me. Thanks. Her application was rejected this morning based on - Purpose of Visit - Personal Asset and financial status. She's 17 and the refusal reasons doesn't make a lot of sense (especially the personal asset and financial status part). |
holluville:Hi, You messaged my ****** (about GCMS), I don't know what to think but it seems like there must have been a mix-up. Please let me know. Thanks. |
Luckymama:People sha ![]() So you think everyone on this thread is a student. And that because some of choose to stick around, we ain't moving on with life?? ![]() Justwise has been a moderator on this thread for as long as I can remember. I have been a member of NL since 2009 (July 18, 2009 to be precise). NL is our own Twitter. Again, people like you will come and go and the selfless contributors of this great thread and website will not be subject of your childish mockery. |
Luckymama:Yoooooo! Respect people and their time. Some people on this thread work jobs that pay them $100/hr. My first post on this thread is more than 4 years, and here I still am. People will come and go, but some of us will still be here, asking questions and offering our opinions. But yes! I will ask you to pay me (for my time) if I feel like it, and at that point you will have two options. Pay or don't. |
Samoye111:Congratulations on your Admission and Visa application. I applaud your faith and optimism, and I think it will be quite helpful if you sharing your profile and help bring some clarity to a lot of people that will resort to prayer like you did. I want people to pray for visa applications, god knows I prayed for one right about midnight today, but I like to think prayer doesn’t substitute for the hard work you put into making yourself a “perfect” candidate for university admission in record time and visa approval in good time. I’m of the idea that you are a “perfect” candidate for visa application, and will appreciate it if you share your profile. |
Anon123:What is this ![]() ? |
Please don't think you applied for the wrong visa, or something was terribly wrong with your study permit (SP) application because it was denied within a couple of days after applying. People on this thread have gotten approval in 2 days. The time between the eligibility review email and an approval email for my SP extension was 35 minutes. It could take that little time, but most time it takes longer. When you look closely at GCMS notes, you will know it really doesn't take time to review applications. I dare say that getting the Canada SP is very easy when you plan adequately. You don't need an agent, all you just need is a good plan. You will know what all an agent want is your money. PLAN, PLAN, and PLAN!!! |
UBCcookies:These school administrator talk in the nonsense sometimes (or intellectually hide the thought behind what they’re trying to say) I have my fair share of experience telling them what to do. It works better and you have to be double sure. It’d be reasonable if they are asking you to defer because it’d be difficult to get internship positions from Nigeria, but you don’t need to be in Canada to apply for coop work permit. You just need your study permit and a letter from the school. What is however clear now is that companies are recruiting student online and having them work almost completely remotely. If you maintain full time student status while you “search for internship positions”, irrespective of if you get a position or not (which is unlikely) then I’d say that you should still get your 3 years PGWP. Attached is the requirements to apply for a coop work permit. I should also add that a number of schools accept foreign internship/co-op experience. So you can do your internship in Nigeria!!!
|
UBCcookies:I don't think I completely understand your situation (especially the course selection part). But yes, the Co-op work permit takes that long. The good this is that nothing stops you from applying for it right away (and you don't need to be in Canada to apply for it). If I was in your position, I will continue to take my courses online, and start applying for student positions. |
I have researched and one question remain unanswered. My 12 months masters program that starts this fall have been moved completely online due to COVID-19. Do I still need to apply for a Study Permit to be eligible for the PGWP? |
I wouldn’t understand what is shocking about being denied visa denial without biometrics. We blow things out of proportion and that is why people less often share their visa refusal here. It is common knowledge that a two stage approval process was rolled out. Meaning visa applications will be reviewed without biometrics. Anyone that doesn’t meet requirements for the first stage (including those without biometrics) will get denied. Simple. I then wouldn’t understand why visa denial will be shocking? Especially when we all have an idea of the insane success rate for Canada study permit applications. |
Dabaines:The best thing will be to start from the start of the thread. |
Fgmp12:$29,800. That’s the Petroleum Engineering masters tuition at MUN. |
Bigwayne:I am just realising this. Hmmm
|
Let us skip the plenty grammar. If you passed the first stage approval, you will have to be an international criminal to not get the approval. #My2Cents |
Ayodeji786:I don't enjoy being controversial, but MUN comes to the lips of people when they talk about cheap programs. And it rightfully should. It's just funny because 80% of Nigerian students in graduate Engineering programs are paying $29,800 in Tuition. Reason is simple, it is easier to gain admission into these really expensive Programs. Yes, I said it....8 out of every 10 graduate engineering student that is Nigerian and schooling at MUN pays good dollars; and most of us applied because we thought it was cheap. I am a graduate engineerings student at MUN. |
justexcellent:Sure you could raise a webform. It'd only be funny when you raise a webform that you'd be starting this Fall, and then another webform (in 4 weeks) that you'd be starting next winter. The present Study Visa processing time is scary enough to make anyone defer admission. My honest N2K. |
ptoall1000:Most programs at MUN will usually ask for Tuition > $12K. For perspective, more than half of Nigerian graduate students at MUN are paying $30K in tuition. The only programs with Tuition about $6,000 are research based programs, and I think the MBA program. Theses programs are usually very competitive, because of the obvious. |
ptoall1000:No program at Memorial University of Newfoundland will charge you less than $6,500 CAD per year. And these courses (that charge about $6,500 CAD) make up less than 20% of the course options. |
