Why are you doing this? This same question was answered on this thread not quite long. Take a breather and read back. Haba!

Stop suffocating this thread with repetitive questions. That's why its called a thread. If your question hasn't been answered before, then you are free to ask.

Please......

I will answer again. Hopefully for the last time.

Its not compulsory you travel on the same date your insurance commences. You can travel on a later date. Just ensure you travel before your visa/insurance expires.

Hello house, pls for the insurance stuff ,must you travel exactly the same day u choose while doing the insurance or can u travel later than that day

If you are given May 2 as interview date, be rest assured the embassy will honour it. Otherwise a change of date will be communicated to you before the day.

ayo23us:
Hi All! Would the German Embassy open on Monday, May 2? May 1st is a public holiday falling on Sunday. A holiday should be given the next working day (May 2). What is the fate of those having appointment on May 2? Thanks!

IGI. 741, Adeola Hopewell, Victoria Island, Lagos.
#18,500

That's one of the cheapest around.

Disclaimer: I'm not an agent of IGI or any other insurance coy. Just doing my bit to help a brother with a potential headway. Thanks.

You still have time.
Student visa processing takes about 6-8 weeks.
No need to panic yet.

abilitipaxino:
I did my interview on 14th March and I got a mail to fund that same day.I mail a confirmation of the fund to the embassy on 21 April .deadline of my enrolment is 31st May.Do I still have tme
Travel / Re: General German Visa Enquiries Part 3 by takeastep: 5:36pm On Apr 25, 2016
You have done the needful.
Wait until you hear from the embassy.
Don't send any hardcopy.
If your enrolment deadline is close, you can reach your aliens authority. If not, keep calm, get busy while you wait for the embassy to respond.

abilitipaxino:
After the interview I got an email to fund my account that my visa is being processed. I have funded the account and have sent a confirmation from the Deutsche bank to the same email that contacted me after the interview. Please does anyone has an idea how long it could possibly take by I get a reply or I am supposed to submit an hardcopy or is there any other email I ought to have sent the confirmation. Thank.please I need some answers

Delivery of your envelope takes about 3-7 days. That's why you are advised to give a 7-day gap before your travel date. Its not compulsory you travel on the said date. Just make sure you travel within 3 months.

Book your ticket online, pay with your debit card and print it out. Thats the easiest and safest route.

I'd used Turkish airline couple of times. Its very good. Under an hour stop-over in Turkey, then straight to Hamburg.

I dont expect any interview at the port, just make sure you go along with all your documents, pack your foodstuff neatly and keep to the airline maximum luggage allowance. I think its about 32kg each for 2 bags for Turkish, please confirm. You will see the details on your ticket. Excess luggage may attract fees at the airport or you may be told to drop some stuff off. Try avoid such.

Dont forget to make photocopy of your insurance document and submit along with the original at the embassy.

I replied your PM. You can holla me back when you are ready.

All the best.

Pls ooo, my e-family, on the mail I got to come for my visa, it was stated that "my departure should be scheduled at least 7 days from the posting of my envelope". pls I don't seem to understand that.

also I really need the cheapest flight I can get, on wakanow.com " emirates" and "Turkish airline" seem to be the cheapest, which one is preferable and am I to book at the airport. and pls any other info as regards booking air ticket is highly welcomed.

What if after getting my visa,i postpone the day I want to travel, what will happen?

what will they ask me at the airport?...is there any interview at the embassy for collection of visa?

pls any other advice that will be needed is highly welcome. want to go collect the insurance document tommorow.

I wish my other colleagues in the house success.

@BlessedSamson: Congrats. For your travel Health insurance, try IGI @ Plot 741, Adeola Hopewell Street, Victoria Island, Lagos. Ask of Mr. Seun. He will sort you out for about #18,500. Thats probably one of the cheapest around. The place is not far from the German embassy. I advice you go to IGI first, then take a Keke Marwa back to the embassy.

As for the courier envelope, you can get that inside the embassy. You will see FedEx just around the business centre area. Price varies from #1,500 depending on your contact address. Also add an A4 sized brown envelope to your courier envelope. Just insert it. Don't forget to go along with the print-out of the mail sent to you.

Considering the forex situation in the country, not sure there's any bank that will handle any form A transaction 'promptly'. You will be lucky if its done within a week or 2. Try Union Bank. Got one through them within 2 weeks recently.

Try IGI. Guess its like 14k. Have you received the mail?

Travel / Re: General German Visa Enquiries Part 2 by takeastep: 3:58pm On Apr 05, 2016
1. To confirm the type of visa your parents should apply for, its safer to send a mail to the visa section of the embassy and inquire from them. You can be sure of receiving a reply in the shortest time possible. With that, you can get a fair idea of the documents required.

2. You can book a ticket online without paying.

3. Travel insurance is needed when your visa has been approved. However, if its required before interview (as against what's involve with student visa), then you have to get it done. Try IGI, relatively cheap.

4. If you want to sponsor them, the best is to deposit some good cash into their accounts, then prepare a supporting letter alongside their visa documents. In the letter, introduce yourself, then explain that you are sponsoring their trip and confirm you've made initial deposits into their accounts.

First thing first though, you need to confirm the type of visa to apply for.

Bisolar:
Hi guys!
Pls, pls and pls, I need help regarding German tourist visa.
First of all, my brother is doing his phd in Germany, and my parents wants to travel for his wedding in October.
I know it's Schengen visa.
Now, will they apply as visiting family and relatives or normal tourist visa.
My brother isn't a citizen but a student, and a part time job. And his girlfriend is from Hungary.

Secondly, this booking ticket thingy, I saw it in the list of supporting documents.
Is it compulsory and if it is, Do airlines allow you to book ticket first and pay later?

What if they don't eventually give you visa?
Same goes for the travel insurance. Is that done before or after application?

Lastly, can I be a sponsor? As in sponsor their trip like I did for UK embassy? Is a sponsor and a guarantor the same thing?

Try resend your account details with a follow-up mail.

iwobi:
please i want to know of anyone who recently got their visa... i did my interview on the 15th of February 2016 and from then till now is been 7 weeks... this is the 8th week... must it be that when they say within 6-8 weeks it must be the 8th week they reply someone. got my details of the blocked account on the 23rd of march and immediately forwarded to them but up till now no response from them. called them but they said i should hold on that i just sent my account details on the 23rd of march. someone on her said it normally takes 2 - 3 working days to send a follow up mail after one has forwarded blocked account details to them. Wondering why the recent change about it. school starts today already

You sent your email through 'post'. Is it through Facebook or regular mail?
esinjoor:

Now I have the confirmation for funding blocked account with 8040 euros. The thing is my own case is peculiar, they don't have my email at all and have never sent me any email before. What I do receive from them is hardcopy documents by post. But after a long chat with Deutsche bank Service on facebook, I was told to resend my email by post which is the only way to resolve such issue and 3 days after they received it, I got the confirmation for 8015 euros, though I don't understand how they did their deductions

I understand it varies with bank. I just want to get a kind of overview or range as experienced by nairalanders.

I understand you clearly. Why I'm asking is because the debit alert only wrote CHARGES. No details on whether it is commission, VAT, offshore or combination of all. Is that how yours came or it was explicit.

If you've used Union bank for your form A, you may also help confirm if that's all to be debited or one should expect more debit alerts.

stevemims:
like i said, the main rxchange rate equivalence was deducted a day after my form was accepted on the platform. A week after charges for commission, VAT, offshore and telex came on the same day and the next morning i got the DB alert.
Travel / Re: General German Visa Enquiries Part 2 by takeastep: 11:36pm On Mar 27, 2016
Alright.

Asking because a fella got debit alert for the main sum and after like 6 hours same day got another alert for CHARGES (about #11,800). Was wondering if that CHARGES include the VAT, commission and other stuff. Union bank.

Once brother
Travel / Re: General German Visa Enquiries Part 2 by takeastep: 11:19pm On Mar 27, 2016
Thanks for your info.
Did you get the debit alert for commission, VAT and others once or separately?

stevemims:
FormA update: i used Ecobank for my funding and i can bodly say they are effective. When profsamurai came up with the ecobank idea, i went to one of the branches in my state and the person in-charge said my account must have been active for 6 months. I sent a mail to the head office and i was told to just open an acct with them, the next morning i went to the bank to show the man my convo with the head office. He gave me acct opening forms, within two days my acct was maintained in order to initiate the transfer. My form was declined twice cus of the amount, the letter i provided had 8040 euro on it so i had to make sure i didnt fill in more than the said figure. It was accepted on a wednesday and i got a debit alert the next day, the debit alert for commission, VAT and offshore charges came after a week plus the telex copy fee. The commission percentage for Ecobank is one percent and the exchange rate for that day was 221. I hope this helps.

Well...believe what you may. I just told you what I know. Good luck.

esinjoor:

It is only advisable to add the 50 euros so as to be able to get exactly 670 euros per month when you get to Germany and not for confirmation, the amount credited will be confirmed without regarding the deduction
Travel / Re: General German Visa Enquiries Part 2 by takeastep: 8:35am On Mar 26, 2016
Then how do you survive over there?

Listen, most people here have been in this sort of situation one time or the other. Many have succeeded in getting their visas either through the blocked account of sponsorship. I must be frank, its not an easy task.

Don't get yourself worked up on this. If your desire is to go to Germany for your study, it will happen, if you believe.

Mind you, its not going to happen overnight. Especially with your condition.

There's nothing prayer cannot do. Pray to God to send helpers to you. If you have friends, uncle or relatives that can assist you with little cash, begin to gather bit by bit. Approach genuine people around you (do corporate begging lol).

Are you working? If yes, start saving a large portion of your income. If you are not working, look for something to do. No matter how small. Just do something legal to rake in some cash.

The truth is, its rare to see anyone that will borrow you that huge sum.
Financial institutions require collateral before you can get such amount. That's in addition to their crazy interest rate. So, I won't advice you to tow that line.

You may be lucky to get someone who would volunteer to sponsor you. Its possible.

All in all, keep talking, keep posting, keep asking questions...and be sincere.

It will happen.

BlessedSamson:

if one get a loan, can't one be sending the money back from the blocked account on monthly basis back to where the money was borrowed here in Nigeria. is that not possible?

Transferring 8040 Euros is enough to get confirmation but you won't get confirmation if your account is not credited with exactly 8040. Your account will only be credited with 7990 euro ( that's -50euro mandatory processing charge). Its always advisable to include extra 50 Euros when doing your transfer.

esinjoor:
Just confirmed from Deutsche bank, tranfering 8040 euros is enough to receive confirmation

Difficult to say cos of the current forex situation in the country. Banks are literarily prostrating to CBN for forex and with increasing demand from people like you and I, its a case of survival of the fittest. Union bank was reported to be the fastest but not quite sure about it as at this present moment. An insider there told me they have backlogs of Form A stuff they need to clear. Forex is scarce and not enough. You may still try it though. However, any bank you decide to use, Patience is the keyword. If you have lots of free cash (like Dasuki) go with Dom account.
