The State Executive Council of Akwa Ibom State was dissolved by the the state Governor, Dr. Godswill Akpabio yesterday. However, its a minor cabinet reshuffle as only four members of the Executive have been substituted.The affected Commissioners include, Education, Health, Science and Technology, Commerce and Tourism. One of the beneficiaries of the development whose names have been sent to the State House of Assembly is the porpular Uruan Businessman turn politician, Godwin Ntukudeh. |

I boldly opine that The Senate of de Federal Republic of Nigeria has done well in 2, out of the 3 areas of recommendations: 1. Abolition of of State\LGA Joint Account; 2. 6year single-term for de executive. As for de eradication of SIECs, our democracy is still nascent (espercially by de practitioners). In as much as they've courageously recommended the two above, which will go a long way to streamline de powers of de State Governors, they should equally be wary not to further empower de government at de centre. Any ammendment that suggests that should be kept aside. For crying out loud, we are operating a Federal system of Govt., therefore de centre should be weakened! In de same vein, provisions and clauses should be inserted to checkmate de LGAs Chairmen and other officials from going hare wire with the people's funds. MY TAKE! |

Started and completed de 5star hotels and Ibom Intl Airports with de repair, mantainance, ovahaul and hanger. Facilities? Do U also mean that Akpabio's administration has not constructed any road in Eket? De first over 70roads in Eket and Oron urban between 2008 and 2011 were constructed where. Or are U refering to de Eket - Ibeno road, a federal road that has been awarded. Contracts. For construction by both de Federal Govt and Mobil several times? Are U not aware that recently de State Govt had to wade in to compel the contractors to do Their job. I will advise U to call anyone in Eket, Ibeno, Oron, Ik, Uyo, etc (infact de entire Akwa Ibom) to give U an unbiased and unprejudiced assessment. My take on this is very simple: Before the scrapping of these bodies be effected, the Federal Govt. must identify and spell out our educational destination in order to be better positioned to come out with informed and workable solutions. They should not just wake up and do the scrapping! There are things to be put in place. For instance, if the various universities are to conduct their different entrance examinations, the federal govt should peg a common fee every university should charge for the exams; and again, every candidate for the exams should be allowed to write the entrance exams in atleast 3 Universities, and the entrance exams time-table must be streamlined to accomodate this. Other cushioning and effective measures must equally be first put in place, before the take-off of the proposal. I opine! |

So many arguments have been advanced for and against the Federal Government's proposal to snip the Examinations conducted by JAMB (UTME) and NECO, with a view to regularising JAMB - to supervise the various Universities entrance examinations, and to merge NECO with WEASCE - to empower them to conduct two internal and external examinations on annually! Nairalanders, what are your takes on this? |

Periodic med checks is good, but some guys that say they do so 3-4 times a year, is it that there's sth wrong with them or are they being over zealous? Again, i would appreciate if some folks at the labs in Govt. Hospitals (where it's considered cheaper) would oblige us with rough estimate per kind of check-up. However, there are general tips to stay healthy, like: Taking enough (clean) water; Taking (unspoilt) fruits; Taking sufficient rest; Periodic exercise; Not eating late (after 8pm or not eating 30mins b4 U go to bed); Periodic sexual intercourse; Shunning taking much spirit, ikpo, etc Trusting in God and praying to God... |
