OdogwuEkeke:Here is my advise, there is a much higher prospect of getting a great job and settling in the UK based on their recent Visa adjustments for Post graduates. There is nothing here in SA for now. Unemployment is so very high now and SA has been banned from many countries in the past 1 year. Nothing much for foreigners because even south african grads are struggling to get jobs. It has gotten so bad in recent times. And this SA is way too volatile. If I was in your shoes I'd pick any UK university over the best of SA right now. Look at the bigger picture and forget university rating abeg. That one no epp anybody. Make sure to give your best and come out in flying colors in whatever UK uni you find yourself. Thats all that matters. Again. if you have a UK option, please go for it. Even funding opportunities sef, very scarce in SA now. |
EHI9ICE:Omo. Nawa. Thanks a lot for sharing your experience. This energy they have against travelers from SA. Is covid not everywhere in the world? Can't even deal. No naija trip till this mandatory shit is suspended |
EHI9ICE:Oh oh. Ok.. Thanks But did they ask you to pay any 500k for compulsory quarantine? Also did you select Lagos as final destination in the online form you filled before departure? Did you have to do a test 24 hours after you arrived or is it only the 7 day test that is compulsory? Your response will be much appreciated. Thank you |
justt:Hi there. Just wanted to ask if she has been able to get her passport back? How long did it take? |
EHI9ICE:All the best. Please do come back to share your experiences after you have arrived. It will really help many others especially as we draw close to the end of the year and more people want to travel. |
EHI9ICE:Cancelled my travel plans. I cant deal with stress at that lag airport. Cant risk them seizing my passport and having to beg for it. I know They cant sustain this their greed for long. its easier for them now because very few people are even travelling from SA to NG so they can harass people well. I also heard that fully vaccinated people are exempted from the compulsory quarantine rules, so will only be going once I am fully vaccinated later in the year. |
![]() Stay safe. This is real. |
justt:Oh wow! So sad. Must have been extremely stressful. Really sorry about that. Please, the repeat test that she did to get her passport back, was it done 24 hrs after she arrived or 7days after? How long did she have to wait in Lagos to get the passport back? |
abdullahi45:Sent. Thanks |
Who will teach me french Bayii ![]() sweetoma and WinterDreary how many months did you guys use to learn this enough to be able to write the TEF exam? are there any online schools or youtube channel suggestions? or maybe another NL thread. Please help a sister |
abdullahi45:Co asking. Please anyone who has traveled from SA to naija via Kenya airways or other airline recently shud kindly share their experience. 500k how |
Palmstore:Then selling your things is not a wise idea. There is a process. You only need funds when you have been in the pool and gotten invite either through pnp or FSW. That could take another 6 months or even more. Hustle and raise money gradually towards that. Have you evaluated your degrees with WES? Thats d first step. Then read and pass (max out) IELTS. Some pple do it 3 or 4 times b4 getting desired scores. Then create a profile and enter the pool. You dont need to sell your house b4 doing all these things. There are pple in this thread who have been invited since last year and are still waiting to finalize process. If they have sold houses they probably would be stressed and exhausted by now. Canada does not owe us o. Its a privilege to have an opportunity to immigrate. Dont drink garri because u want to go abroad. Pray, plan and have a lot of patience. Best of luck |
Palmstore:Where on this immigration journey are you? Have you been invited to apply through PNP route ? Or are you still in the pool waiting for a draw? Selling all you have to raise funds is not such a great idea and you risk being shortchanged or defrauded by selling your house hurriedly out of desperation. Canada is not heaven o. Immigration needs to be planned. Please look for family members who can give gift deeds or something. Don't lose all you have. This immigration thing requires a lot of patience. My advice to others in the pool, start saving now or have a backup plan for funds. |
dumiel:They had a specific list of NOCs Mostly managers, health workers, HR and a few others. You can check online |
englishmart:Uncle Rest. Hold your corrupt politicians responsible for their failures. Let a business man do his business in peace and cash out. They have employed hundreds by financing this show but your fish brain will not see that one. |
navigante:I wrote the paper exam once and CBT exam 2ce b4 i reached my desired score. I prefer CBT cos i type fast and i had practiced CBT a lot on E2 language, even did a mock exam with them cos their website has an exact replica of the Ielts cbt software. For listening, make sure you practise listening to a lot of things using an headphone. Podcasts, tedx talks etc. Especially about all those weird ielts topics. Dat way u learn to sharpen your listening and also get ideas for speaking and writing on those abstract topics. The Cambridge textbooks for ielts have audio for practise exams. Make sure u concentrate and practice listening without distraction, especially the maps. I got 8.5 in listening with my last CBT. For writing, practice typing on notepad as it does not correct your errors like Microsoft word. Then make sure u read thru and correct your errors all within 1 hr. (use wordcounter. Net to count your words while practicing). Timing is essential. The text editor for the cbt will not show you wrong spellings, but it will show you word count, so thats a bit fair. And lastly, be sure the exam center has good facilities o. Cos if u have a keyboard that is stiff, it will affect your speed. Overall, i prefer the CBT much more than d paper based. |
Omo this is a visa / travel inquiry page o. All dis shalaye is not needed. I've lived around SA to know the truth. 5 years and counting. Know this : An average south african will defend their country against all odds, whether for a reasonable reason or not. If its a black versus white scenario, hands down you can expect a bit of objectivity. But black pple? Be ready to keep quiet or come with facts. Else you will collect dragging o because... I come in peace but if anyone needs vayolence, i cannot acknowledge it. T for tenks. ![]() |
ayodeleajayi220:Depends on d airline. SA flights are restricted from Nigeria now due to the crazy covid spikes but i still had someone who travelled from joburg and landed in lagos yesterday through kenya airways. Airpeace has even suspended direct flights to SA. The cases are spiking in SA so travel may be more stricter in d coming weeks. My advice is to hold off on booking flights now if its not urgent. If you must, then book your flight directly with the airline and NOT with any 3rd party sites. This is because if you have to change your flight or cancel it for any reason, it will be cheaper / easier for you to deal with the airline directly yourself. Fyi. Travel sites always mark up prices so i often wonder why pple use them for simple journeys. Check kenya or ethiopa airlines website for flights. |
phabulous88:Thanks alot |
Itunumore1:Nope. But i have a sibling based in CA, and I'm still under 30. Then Ielts was actually the game changer. Good luck |
Emmandu:E2 language. Watched a lot of their top viewed videos on YouTube. Also signed up for daily online tutorials on their website and learnt a lot. Then i practiced a lot. Especially writing cos i had 6.5 twice previously. I also submitted my writing for evaluation by ielts trainers on e2language. Then i scheduled a writing tutorial with one of their best teachers, Dr Anna. Writing was d problem for me. Speaking is about confidence and knowing a little about the popular ielts topics. I got many knowledge ideas from the E2 classes. FYI, i spent some money for this 1 on1 tutorial, But it was worth it in the end. Good luck |
Hi everyone, my current CRS score is 493. I av msc, had Ielts (L-8.5, R-8.5, S-8.5,W-7), and etc. After waiting all these months, I'm considering applying for pnp, (oinp). But pple are saying my score is too high for pnp. Is it true? Has anyone applied for Ontario pnp recently? What is the CRS score that can apply or is there a range? Thanks. |

Newguy999 Go and check your cholesterol levels. Also make a list of what triggers your symptoms Anxiety can also cause palpitations and panic attacks too. You need to talk to a professional and probably get on anxiety meds to reduce the physical symptoms. |
Impossible. If you are a beginner in tech there is a huge chance that you will have lots of questions. Stackoverflow is a life saver. You learn and see different ways of solving problems. |
andrewbaba44:My thoughts exactly.. Where exactly did he wander to in Capetown? I have lived in kzn, gauteng, eastern cape and now in Capetown. There are safe places and there are areas of town that every one should stay away from. There is no need for unnecessary fear mongering. I have been robbed in broad day light in lagos 2ce but I've never experienced such in SA. Capetown is literally one of the safest and civil places in SA. |
femmoy:For naija foods, it depends on where in Capetown you are.. There are lots of naija shops in town, and Maitland. Then parklands main has several naija shops and restaurants. Even on uber eats or mr delivery. You can order online as well, or check ogaafricanmarket on Instagram. They have a lot of naija stuff and they deliver within Capetown at affordable prices. They have a fair selection of naija drinks too. I also have a few links of people who cook and deliver correct homemade naija meals within cpt. Send me a message if interested.. |
Hammergirl:The fact that you call her an osu is a problem already. You dont love her if you cant see her differently. And what d heck is family conviction that you need to do? Who is marrying her? Why does your family need to validate d person you wanna live with? |
chuddyforlife:Ghanaians don't require visa to come to SA. You get an E-visa on arrival and they can give you up to 90 days. Dont waste your time and money going to apply at a Nigerian VFS. My advice, travel to South Africa from Ghana. Because Nigerian immigration may not know about this and stress you unnecessarily. |
baba4thegehs:1. On paper yes, in reality d best job you'll get might be a tutor or pg assistant if u are coming for post grad studies. Except you have exceptional skills (eg IT skills) and you can quickly find a side hustle on the side. Rarely happens, but it happened for a few people. 2. Work permit is more difficult these days, but PR maybe possible especially if you graduate from critical skills area. Find out that one. 3. Read that gazette. Properly. A lot of things are on paper but the reality on ground is different especially now. There is a high level of unemployment in SA now than ever. Pple are scrambling to get jobs. 4. Depends on the school. Most will allow part payment for at least a year. Do your research. 5. I've lived in both cities. Durban is cheap but has limited opportunities. Cpt is expensive but you can offset that cost if you have a good job or source of income. Cpt is a beautiful tourist city and there's more diversity of pple, and well more opportunities. My 2 cents. |
Bn following dis thread for a while.. Good supportive pple out here.. Laefizzy congrats and welcome to d most beautiful city in africa.. You'll find out soon. Its breathtaking.. I'm looking out to make new friends and meet pple in the mother city. Been living here for over a year and It would be nice to finally meet fellow nairalanders. Fun, adventurous people only. Not scammers abeg. Just mention me or send a dm. |
