So I usually stay up late to read stories and updates from Nairaland, yes till 3am atimes, I don't follow politics/soccer before, but thanks to Nairaland. I just love reading comments to know how people think. Sometimes i tell my self? You can know if someone is having a good day/ bad day from ones comments. Well, as a customer care rep/call center agent, one just have to read people, understand people and create a relationship between a particular comment and the next.
It's a good forum to express oneself and kill boredom. With a sluggish network on my phone (Nairaland will surely beats any other sites to load on my safari)

That company lacks credibility, the 1st time I had a telephone interview the lady called me after I waited 5hrs for the call. She noticed I was a bit pissed off and she apologised to me several times. I passed and was invited for the next stage, too bad I couldn't make it for personal reasons.
In my experiences, the HR people are always very nice just like customer service because they are at a point between the company and the outside and potential workforce. OP you should have asked her to hold on for a second while you excuse yourself completely. Tell her that the choice of music of others is not a priority in the conversation and never say you are at a friends place(it makes u sound like a jobless and galivanting person). Rather say you were at a public place and the call caught you unaware but you are ready to answer all her questions to the best of your ability.
Another advice also to everyone, just as you have a formal way of writing emails, also have a formal voice(fake some frank edoho type of voice if you can) by your voice they can tell if you are a walk over.. OP was probably fidgeting and with a shaky voice while trying to explain himself, some people feed off who they perceive as weak to grow their ego.
I assume you weren't informed prior to the call so you weren't ready for the call, that's another sign of disorganisation on their part. You just may have dodged a bullet. Thank God but NEVER never feel intimidated again
